The YSL Trial is officially over, but Young Thug, who accepted a plea deal, may have some buyer’s remorse.

One of Thugger’s lawyers, Keith Adams, appeared on TheFitLawyerATL to reveal the rapper’s reaction to the trial’s conclusion.

“He was happy for [Gotti] and for Stillwell,” Adams said. “Very happy. He was happy that they’re coming home. There was a part of him I think that was thinking, We probably should have gone all the way ’cause we would have been walking out of there with a not guilty verdict as well.”

As for Thug’s current condition he stated, “He’s still doing great. He’s happy to be home. He’s out in L.A. He’s doing just fine and he’s gonna be doing just fine.”

Earlier this month, a Fulton County jury has delivered verdicts for the two remaining defendants in the YSL trial, concluding Georgia’s longest-running criminal trial.

Deamonte Kendrick, known in the music industry as rapper Yak Gotti, was found not guilty on all charges. Meanwhile, Shannon Stillwell was convicted on a single charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The case was handed to the jury last week, and deliberations concluded Tuesday, wrapping up a trial over a year since testimony began in November 2023.

Stillwell and Kendrick were accused of participating in the 2015 drive-by killing of Donovan Thomas Jr., also known as “Big Nut,” who was reportedly a rival gang member.

Gotti was stabbed before the conclusion of the trial at the Fulton County Jail’s south annex in Union City, according to multiple sources. The incident did not occur at the main facility on Rice Street.

Sources reported to WSB-TV Atlanta that Kendrick sustained minor injuries in the attack. The Fulton County Sherrif’s Office released a statement:

“Deamonte Kendrick, also known as rapper Yak Gotti, and another jail resident were in a physical altercation on Sunday, December 1. Kendrick received treatment for minor injuries from a sharp object at the Fulton County Jail. The incident occurred at the South Annex in Union City where both men were being housed. Kendrick will be in court today. This is an active investigation to determine the aggressor in this incident and if charges will be pending.”

Last week, Yak Gotti caught a break in his portion of the YSL Trial as some of his charges were dismissed.

According to 11 Allive, Gotti, born Deamonte Kendrick, had three counts related to drug possession and distribution tossed out by Judge Paige Whitaker via directed verdict.

A directed verdict cites, “there is no legally sufficient evidentiary basis for a reasonable jury to reach a different conclusion.”

Another directed verdict for his additional charges, including a RICO charge, was denied. That filing stated, “A person who was merely present at the scene of the commission of a crime at the time is not necessarily guilty of consent in and concurrence in the commission of the crime unless the evidence shows beyond a reasonable doubt that such person committed the alleged crime, helped in the actual perpetration of the crime, or participated in the criminal endeavor.”

Yak Gotti’s Mother Delivers Powerful & Emotional Message After Her Son Had All Charges Dropped

Several hours ago, Atlanta rapper and member of Young Thug’s YSL label, Yak Gotti received some incredible news. According to some court video from DJ Akademiks, he would be found not guilty on all charges. “You have been found not guilty on all charges,” the judge read to him and his attorney, Douglas Weinstein. Given how turbulent this entire RICO case has been, all he could do was thank God with a prayer. He was one of two remaining defendants to await a verdict after refusing to take a guilty plea deal. It was a risky decision to do so, but it seemed like he was very confident. In fact, Weinstein even told the media that Gotti “fully intends to take this to the jury and get our not guilty verdicts and go home.”

That is exactly what happened today, although it was a slog to the finish line. Just hours before his court appearance, Gotti was stabbed and suffered “minor injuries.” But that has to be one of the last things on his mind, and especially his mother’s. Independent court reporter Meghann Cunniff managed to speak with or attend a public address by the rapper’s caretaker, and it was an emotional moment.

Just like Yak Gotti, she is incredibly overwhelmed with happiness and relief. You can hear that tremble in her voice as she speaks to media with tremendous power. “I stood down- 10 toes down -every day,” she began. “Every day. Day in, day out. I stood by my son. It was his decision to not take the plea, and I said, ‘Whatever you wanna do, I wanna do.”

The longer she speaks the more emotional she gets and it’s just a real amazing moment. “I prayed… thanked God for all the supporters all over the world… I appreciate the love.” She continues, “My stood up 30 months, my son stood up and we was victorious… I’m thankful I never gave up on my son, never. He said, ‘Mama im not takin’ it, I’m standin’ up.’ And I stood right by him every day.” Her close friends/family are there during this incredible message and it’s so moving. Overall, all we can say is we are happy to see this end for everyone involved.

Yak Gotti Was Found Not Guilty On All Charges A Day After Being Stabbed In Jail

A day after being stabbed in jail, Yak Gotti has been found not guilty on all charges against him in the longest trial in Georgia history. According to WSB-TV, Yak Gotti and Shannon Stilwell were the last two alleged members of YSL on trial for various charges relating to racketeering and gang activity; while the jury deemed the rapper was not guilty of said activity, Stilwell was only found guilty of one charge, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He’ll be charged at a future date.

For the most part, though, this brings an end to the two-year ordeal of the members of YSL, which prosecutors alleged is/was a gang operating under the guise of a record label. Both prosecutors and the defenses issued their closing arguments last Tuesday, and the verdicts were issued after only two days of deliberations. The delay in delivering the verdicts was attributed to a break for the Thanksgiving weekend.

The 56-page indictment was issued against 28 members of YSL, including Yak Gotti, Young Thug, and Gunna, in May 2022, leading to a year’s worth of plea negotiations. Gunna, Unfoonk, and others agreed to plea guilty to racketeering in exchange for time served, with Thug biding his time through the controversial trial. He accepted a plea deal of his own in October, requesting an exemption of his probation terms for his protégé and brother.

Yak Gotti Is Found Not Guilty On All Charges

Yak Gotti is finally going to be a free man. According to court room footage from DJ Akademiks on X, the YSL affiliate is not guilty on any of his charges. “You have been found not guilty on all charges,” the judge told Gotti and his attorney. After hearing that relieving news, all the rapper could do was send a prayer thanking God. He also let out a huge sigh of relief, and given all he’s been through, it’s more than understandable. Gotti was one of two members of Young Thug’s label to hear their fate in court today. The was found guilty on just one charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Overall, it’s really impressive comeback for YSL and his signees after a truly wild set of trials and hearings.

Speaking of which, yesterday was this entire case in nutshell. WSB-TV reported that on December 1, Gotti was stabbed in the Fulton County Jail. He sustained “minor injuries,” but was obviously and thankfully okay enough to be able to stand in court today. Right now, fans are extremely happy to see them win on social media. “YSL with the 3-1 comeback to beat the Rico love to see it,” one X user writes. “LETS GOOOOOOO,” another exclaims.

Yak Gotti Is Coming Home

Others are just confused as to why this all took so long. “So the entire trial was a waste of everyone’s time,” another pens. With entire RICO ordeal now patched up, how the group moves going forward will be something to monitor closely. Do they drop new music sometime early next year? Do they take some time off to get their bearings?

Right now, things aren’t looking too great, at least in terms of Young Thug’s situation. He’s currently got a lot on his plate thanks to his 15 years of probation. Additionally, he seems to be totally done with Gunna, who he specifically requested to keep in contact with. Overall, it’s probably going to take a long time before things somewhat get back to normal. But at the end of the day, YSL is slowly getting back on its feet, and that’s what fans want to see.

Although Young Thug was recently released after accepting a plea deal in his racketeering case, ending a two-year stint in Fulton County jail, the trial continues for some of his co-defendants, including Yak Gotti. Yak Gotti, whose real name is Deamonte Kendrick, was reportedly stabbed at Fulton County jail’s south annex on Sunday, prompting a statement from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office to local news station WSB-TV.

“Deamonte Kendrick, also known as rapper Yak Gotti, and another jail resident were in a physical altercation on Sunday, December 1,” it reads. “Kendrick received treatment for minor injuries from a sharp object at the Fulton County Jail. The incident occurred at the South Annex in Union City where both men were being housed. Kendrick will be in court today. This is an active investigation to determine the aggressor in this incident and if charges will be pending.”

Gotti is one of two remaining defendants in the YSL trial, alongside Shannon Stillwell. Prosecutors and defense attorneys delivered their closing arguments last week in what has become Georgia’s longest criminal trial in history — which was curtailed by Thug’s plea deal, in which he pled guilty to possession of drugs and firearms, and no contest to racketeering. Jurors entered deliberations on Tuesday, but were given a long weekend for the holiday.

Young Thug’s Attorneys File Motion to Toss Out Video Featuring Alleged Goat Sacrifice

Young Thug’s legal representation attempts to stop prosecutors from displaying a video of a co-defendant’s arrest during the trial. According to WSB-TV, attorneys are attempting to suppress the arrest video of Shannon Stillwell.

Stillwell was arrested for murder on March 17, 2022. The arrest occurred during a religious ceremony involving the alleged sacrifice of goats. The legal team states showing that the video will only provide prejudice against Stillwell and Young Thug.

Young Thug, born Jeffrey Williams, and Stillwell are two of eight on a RICO indictment of the YOung SLime Life gang. The trial has been in jury selection since January.

According to several reports, a court hearing occurred today (July 21) in which Young Thug and his lawyers requested a bond but was once again denied. This means the 31-year-old trap rapper will remain in custody throughout the YSL RICO trial.

Thug’s lawyers argued that the alleged YSL leader’s health was suffering, stating, “This lifestyle has caused physical harm to Mr. Williams.” They also said that his prior kidney problems and food with little nutrition in jail had caused their client to gain excessive weight. The judge denied their bond motion because he stated he was concerned about Thug’s influence.

Yak Gotti’s bond motion was also denied, with the court citing that Gotti was a flight risk and mentioned an alleged physical confrontation with another inmate. His attorneys argued that Fulton County Jail staff members assaulted Gotti, but their claims were unfounded.
