Jay-Z & Team ROC To Defend Man In Court Who Was Wrongfully Arrested

Protests flared up in Wisconsin after authorities wrongfully and violently arrested the wrong man at an Applebee’s. Moreover, police investigated a hit-and-run and charged Jermelle English Jr. with disorderly conduct and resisting in July, beating him and pepper spraying him in front of his one-year-old child. Though officials know they didn’t get the true criminals, as they discovered the culprits in the restaurant’s bathroom shortly after, they still pressed charges against English. Furthermore, this brought this case to national attention, with many making their voices in support of justice heard. What’s more is that new reports suggest that none other than Jay-Z will try to set the record straight.

Moreover, Hov and his Team ROC organization reportedly moved to defend English in court. Specifically, they hired renowned lawyer Alex Spiro to represent the unjustly convicted man and his family in their legal battle. These reports came from TMZ Hip Hop, and they also suggest that Jay-Z’s team wants to dismiss all charges against English. Not only that, but apparently it’s also possible that the Kenosha Police Department faces a lawsuit from them as a result.

Jay-Z’s Team ROC To Assist In Outrage-Sparking Wisconsin Case

“The reckless arrest of Jermelle English Jr. and the careless endangerment of his infant child by the Kenosha Police Department is an absolute travesty,” Team ROC’s Managing Director Dania Diaz told the publication. “The Team ROC team is here to support Jermelle and his family through this traumatic experience, demand justice, and hold the Kenosha police officers accountable.” In addition, the Applebee’s in question’s manager might sue. This is because she claimed that higher-ups fired her for making the restaurant “look bad” when it wasn’t her fault at all.

Meanwhile, TMZ Hip Hop also reportedly spoke to Kenosha PD representative Leo Viola, who went into further detail from the police’s perspective. Apparently, officials continue to conduct an internal investigation into the department and this case. Viola clarified that they began the investigation without outside pressure, and that they plan to be as transparent as possible as they discover more. Rick Ross Joins Playboy Rated-R On Velvety “Same Number”

Rated-R Playboy keeping the ball rolling with a new record alongside the Boss, Rick Ross. Playboy, who most might remember as Rob Hicks, underwent a rebrand during the pandemic. However, that hasn’t changed the quality of music. Rated-R Playboy continues to showcase his versatility with each release. Over the past few months, he’s unveiled a handful of records that have us excited for his next body of work.

Since late October, he’s shared some impressive records like “You So Nasty, I Miss You” with Lexx Stokes. The two delivered a sultry record that paired Lexx’s luscious vocals while Rated-R Playboy showcased his versatile flows and intricate rhyme patterns. Then, he followed up with the BAHA BANK$-assisted “BBL,” which infused the essence of Miami bounce as she came through with an ASMR flow. However, he’s back with his first release of the year alongside Ricky Rozay.

Rated-R Playboy Taps Rick Ross For “Same Number”

On Friday, Rated-R Playboy returned with one of his best releases in recent times with “Same Number” ft. Rick Ross. The smooth, jazzy production fuses Memphis sounds with the haziness of the blog era sound. However, it’s the braggadocious bars that fully showcase Playboy’s wordplay and versatility. He finds different pockets throughout his verse while his bars showcase his resilience in the face of adversity.

As the beat flips to a more trap-centric, upbeat banger, Rick Ross emerges with an unmatched presence. As you could expect, Rick Ross delivers nothing but opulence, as he declares at the beginning of his verse, “Hunnid packs on the watch.” Rozay doesn’t hold back, either, though his verse does sound like it was recorded over a decade ago with bars like, “Bricks selling like ringtones.” Still, it’s effective in bringing that feel of Ross’ early records that catered to the hungry corner hustlers looking to come up as corporate CEOs. By the time Ross verse comes in, it’s evident that Rated-R Playboy ensured that he stood his own alongside one of the most descriptive rappers of our time. Check out their collab above.

T-Pain Tears Up As He Is Given His Own Day in Wisconsin

t pain up dlc tour canceled poor ticket sales

T-Pain held his first “Wiscansin Fest” in Milwaukee, Wisconsin over the weekend. The festival is a nod to one of his more creative and memorable lines where he rhymed “Aspen” and “mansion” with the state of Wisconsin, instead, saying “Wiscansin.” 15 years after the hit song, the line remains memorable to this day and the artist was officially recognized by the state of Wisconsin while on stage at the festival.

During his set, state representative Kalan Haywood surprised the “rapper ternt sanga” on stage with a proclamation regarding June 11 as “T-Pain Day” in the state of Wisconsin. T-Pain even got a plaque and teared up and fell to his knees while he received it.

The official Wiscansin Fest Instagram page shared a post of the special event, with a caption that read:

“The Mayor of Milwaukee, @cavalierformilwaukee has proclaimed June 11th as ‘T-Pain Day’ to be celebrated annually throughout the state,” read the caption. “State rep @kalanhaywoodwi surprised @tpain on stage at #WiscansinFest to present him with a proclamation from the state office.”

“The proclamation recognizes ‘Wiscansin Fest’ as an annual event acknowledged by the state of Wisconsin. Thank you @cityofmilwaukee and the entire state of Wisconsin for this incredible honor.”

Aside from T-Pain receiving his own day during the festival, concertgoers enjoyed performances from Lil Jon, Bleu, Erica Banks, Kid Ink, Hannibal Burress and others.

The word “Wiscansin” originates from T-Pain’s verse on the 2008 classic “Can’t Believe It” featuring Lil Wayne from his gold-selling third album, Three Ringz (Jive). T-Pain changed the pronunciation of the state, Wisconsin, to “Wiscansin” to make a rhyme with “mansion. The success of “Can’t Believe It” spawned a remix with Justin Timberlake. In 2018, T-Pain launched a collegiate-themed apparel line, Wiscansin University, inspired by the word.
