New Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Wax Figure Roasted For Looking Nothing Like Him

A bizarre new wax figure of actor and wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been unveiled to confusion and mockery at a museum in Paris. While recognizable as The Rock, there’s just something not quite right about the statue. Additionally, beyond the polo shirt and khakis the figure is inexplicably dressed in, fans online compared it to Pitbull, Mr. Clean, and Vin Diesel.

However, slightly more serious concerns were raised by several people. Johnson is mixed race, the son of a Black father and a Samoan mother. Despite this, the wax model is incredibly light-skinned. Furthermore, this has led people to accuse the sculptor of white-washing the wrestling and acting icon. “Yall ever notice that a lot of wax figures of people of color like The Rock and Beyonce are made to look as white as humanly possible?” one user on X wrote.

The Rock’s Football League Set For Merger

Elsewhere, The Rock has been busy with his various business ventures. Last month, it was announced that the XFL, owned by The Rock, would merge with the USFL, owned by Fox. “If the transaction is consummated, the new league will establish best-in-class operations based on the most recent seasons of both leagues. This historic combination will anchor professional spring football with substantial capabilities and resources to ensure future growth and continue to enhance the development of the collective players, coaches, and staff that are coming together,” the leagues said in a joint statement.

It’s a move many expected as neither spring league was perfect. While the USFL was the better football product, the XFL had better visibility and viewership. The USFL is owned by Fox while the XFL is owned by The Rock and his ex-wife. Both leagues are revivals of older spring leagues. The XFL was first formed in 2001 and folded after a season. It was revived in 2020 but declared for bankruptcy after the pandemic cut its first season short. Meanwhile, the USFL briefly existed during the 1980s before being revived in 2022.

Jack Harlow Came Face To Face With Jack Harlow As He Met An Uncanny Wax Figure Of Himself

Jack Harlow dropped by Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas earlier this week to greet his wax figure for the first time. In a video posted by the museum, Harlow was shocked by the uncanny nature of the results.

His figure is seen wearing a white suit and tie, an extravagant Rolex watch, and even holding a serious diamond chain in his folded hands. Harlow walks around admiring the lookalike.

“That is crazy,” he said in the clip. “Is this mine? Everything just looks like he’s about to come to life. It’s good. He’s cut. I just wanna knock his ass over, you know?”

“I was worried I was gonna sit here and be like, ‘OK, this is funny cause it’s like an attempt,’ but it looks just like me,’” Harlow added.

Over the past few months, the Kentucky-raised rapper has been busy. At the end of April, Harlow dropped his new album, Jackman, and has also released some music videos tied to it. The following month, he acted in Hulu’s remake of White Men Can’t Jump.

Jack Harlow’s Wax Figure Looks Shockingly Real

One of the signs that a celebrity is on their way to becoming a superstar is getting a wax figure at Madame Tussauds. Almost every celebrity out there has at one point or another posed with a realistic figure of themselves. While some have famously been, not great, others fan look shockingly realistic. Jack Harlow’s in among the latter. His new statue was debuted yesterday and fans couldn’t believe how realistic it was. In the video posted to Twitter, Harlow himself can’t even believe how good it looks. He was in Las Vegas for the debut of the new wax figure and the two look stunningly similar side by side.

The white tuxedo that wax Jack Harlow is wearing feels appropriate for the rapper. As does the bling he’s sporting with a nice watch and chain accessorizing him. Harlow is a notorious fan of fashion and had a big week last month at Paris Fashion Week. The rapper pulled up to the Givenchy show in a sleek black tux. He posted some pictures recapping his entire weekend in France days later. Fans couldn’t help but point out that the rapper once said “You don’t need Givenchy, you need Jesús” in his biggest hit “First Class.”

Jack Harlow’s Stunning Wax Figure

Jack Harlow has also had some notable moments on stage recently, for both good and bad reasons. Harlow and Lil Durk were both were both in NYC for shows last week and the pair linked up behind the scenes. Once the pictures hit the internet fans couldn’t help but wish for a collab between two of rap music’s biggest hitmakers at the moment.

On the other side of things Jack Harlow had an iffy time on stage at Power Our Planet. The environmentalism benefit concert had a star-studded lineup that included Harlow. But once he tried to play his biggest hit “First Class” for the crowd, they didn’t know the words. Harlow played it off pretty well but it still came as a surprise to him that they couldn’t sing along to such a big hit song. What do you think of Jack Harlow’s incredibly realistic wax figure? Rihanna Gets New Wax Figure

Rihanna just got yet another tribute to her in wax form, this time at Madame Tussauds’ location in Amsterdam. Moreover, the figure actually looks quite accurate, at least when compared to other clowned iterations of celebrities. Furthermore, the specific fit they chose is a tribute to her Savage X Fenty show in 2020, during which she donned a beautiful purple floral get-up. “Madame Tussauds proudly welcomes Rihanna’s wax figure to our attraction!” the museum’s Instagram post of the occasion read. “Her beautiful outfit is based on her floral look for the Savage X Fenty show in 2020! Visit now and meet the stylish queen of pop in Amsterdam.”

Of course, RiRi has a whole laundry list of iconic and stylish looks to choose from, a work that’s still in progress. For example, she recently wowed the crowd at the 2023 Met Gala with her beautiful white dress, which also boasted a whole lot of flowers. She even had two versions of the fit; one with the flower hood and one without. Rihanna always turns heads with her fashion sensibilities, and there could be a dozen different wax figures that would all be equally as recognizable.

Rihanna Shines Bright Like A Diamond- Even In Wax

Still, all that fashion isn’t keeping fans complacent as they wait for her next album, which would be her first in seven years at this point. However, recent statements from the “Lift Me Up” artist indicate that she’s going to drop something soon, and might just be waiting for the right time. More importantly, it sounds like she’s really trying to enjoy and thrive in the creative process in a way that’s less encumbered by expectations and pop standards. “Musically, I’m feeling open,” Rihanna remarked during interviews about her Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this year. “I’m feeling open to exploring, discovering, creating things that are new. Things that are different.”

Meanwhile, there’s more reason to celebrate the 35-year-old than ever. Most recently, she earned her first diamond record with “We Found Love” with Calvin Harris. With all this hype and seemingly every eye in the industry on her next move, all we can do is be patient for her next move. Drake & Rihanna Honored By Madame Tussauds With Wax Figures

Madame Tussauds has unveiled new wax figures celebrating both Drake and Rihanna as part of the Impossible Festival music zone for its London location. Drake’s figure captures the rapper’s look from his appearance at the 2021 Wireless Festival in London. Drake was rocking a matching camouflage shirt and pants under a green cropped puffer jacket with white-on-white Air Force 1’s. It also features replica Cartier and Van Cleef jewelry. At that event, he joined Future for a surprise appearance. This is Drake’s second wax figure for Madame Tussauds. He also has one on display at the Las Vegas museum. It captures his “Hot Line Bling” video set and look.

“Drake has shown his love for London on numerous occasions with his surprise appearance at Wireless Festival being just one example of this,” said Madame Tussauds London’s general manager Tim Waters. “With reports that he’s soon to call London home, we wanted to make sure we were able to give him a warm welcome to our streets and show that the love is reciprocated the only way we know how by immortalizing him in our famous attraction.”

As for Rihanna, she was honored with her third figurine at Madame Tussauds New York on Wednesday. It shows off her 2018 Met Gala look, which was inspired by the theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion And The Catholic Imagination.” The Maison Margiela outfit features a beaded white mini dress and matching robe. She also rocked a papal bishop’s hat and bejeweled crucifix. The figure is on display in the Glow Gala Room. “Rihanna is sure to make history with her upcoming live show this Sunday so the timing is perfect for us to reveal her new figure exclusively at Madame Tussauds New York where fans can admire and pose with the icon,” said Madame Tussauds New York general manager Joerg Hanel.

The addition of another wax figure for Rihanna at Madame Tussauds comes days ahead of her highly-anticipated Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show performance.
The Kansas City Chiefs and Philidelphia Eagles are set to kick off on Sunday at 6:30 PM, ET. Check out Rihanna’s wax figure at Madame Tussauds below.

Beyoncé’s New Madame Tussauds Wax Figure Earns Mixed Reviews On Twitter

Once you achieve celebrity status, one of the highest honours you can have bestowed upon you is a wax figure recreation at Madame Tussauds. Surely the marker of an icon, anyone who’s been recreated has been posed with by millions of fans and is likely well known all around the world. However, the museum hasn’t managed to nail every celebrity they attempt to turn into waxwork – especially not Beyoncé.

In 2004, the London location firstly unveiled its statue of Queen B. It’s since been dubbed the “drunk clubbing girl” version. The figure’s short dress leaves little to the imagination and facial inaccuracies are nothing less than embarrassing. Still, that didn’t stop Madame Tussaud from trying again.

Four years later, the Hollywood museum shared its take on the mother of three, and in 2009, the LA shop did the same. Unfortunately, both of them were major flops, seemingly white-washing Beyoncé and failing to nail important elements like her hair and facial structure.

Recent years have seen other botched wax figures, but in 2023, Madame Tussauds is the closest they’ve come to nailing the Houston starlet. On Friday (January 27), the Berlin location’s take on the vocalist surprisingly surfaced online.

The statue’s look is inspired by her 2018 “On The Run II Tour” alongside her husband, Jay-Z. A black and white Balmain look that she donned during the couple’s show in Manchester was chosen. As Yahoo notes, it was part of their Resort 2019 collection.

For the most part, Twitter seems to be divided on Tussaud’s latest attempt. “This kinda looks good but her eyes look off,” one user wrote earlier today. “She looks [white] in the face.”

Another person chimed in, “There’s so many terrible, offensive wax figures of Beyoncé that I actually think that this one is decent.”

Twitter has certainly been talking about the new wax figures, but that’s not the only conversation that Beyoncé has sparked as of late. Last weekend, she returned to the stage for the first time in years, taking over Dubai to put on the performance of a lifetime alongside her eldest daughter, Blue Ivy.

From Lil Nas X To Taylor Swift: Here’s How Celebrity Wax Figures Are Made

Yesterday, Lil Nas X shared a video of his new Madame Tussauds wax figure, which is so convincing that he successfully used it to prank Lizzo, Olivia Rodrigo, and others into thinking it was actually him. Other artists haven’t been so lucky when they were immortalized in wax, as questionable figures of Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, and Rihanna bear at best a passing resemblance to the source material.

Plenty of famous folks have gotten the wax figure treatment aside from the aforementioned, like Taylor Swift, Brad Pitt, Jackie Chan, Grumpy Cat, and the list goes on and continues to grow. As new figures of varying quality emerge, it begs the question: Just how are these things made?

How It’s Made, the long-running documentary series that has been on the air since 2001, did a segment on wax figures in a 2011 episode. The Science Channel, the Canadian show’s home in the US, uploaded that clip onto YouTube about a year ago and it offers a detailed breakdown of what goes into the process.

The video is better watched than it is read about, but in summary, the subject of the figure has a bunch of measurements taken, mostly of the face, when possible. From there, a mold is made, which is then used to create a wax casting. Then, painting and other techniques are used to add realism to the figure.

Watch the How It’s Made segment above. Insider also spoke with Andres Lopes, a studio manager at Madame Tussauds, in a video from 2018, so find that below.

Lil Nas X’s New Wax Figure Looks So Good That He Pranked Lizzo, Olivia Rodrigo, And Others With It

Celebrity wax figures are hit or miss. A Billie Eilish one from earlier this year raised some eyebrows, but Madame Tussauds has a strong track record, like with their well-received Drake figure from 2019. Tussauds’ latest figure is of Lil Nas X and it looks fantastic. It’s so convincing, in fact, that the rapper was able to use it to prank some of his famous friends.

In a video he shared yesterday (September 20), Nas is in a room with his figure and he decides to FaceTime some people, calling them but only putting the figure in frame. One of the first calls was to Olivia Rodrigo, who cheerfully answered and seemed to think the call was frozen. The real Nas then jumped in and said, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, it’s a wax figure,” which got a laugh from Rodrigo.

The final call of the video is to Lizzo, who answers by saying, “Hi,” before waiting a beat and exclaiming, “What the f*ck?” Nas then makes the reveal, much to Lizzo’s amusement, who adds, “I f*ckin’ thought it was you. I was like, ‘Why are you in your Met Gala outfit?’”

In the clip, Nas also pranks Troye Sivan, Steve Lacy, Rico Nasty, and others, so check it out above.
