It begins with Gorimbo recounting his experience of receiving a social media message from Johnson. Johnson later sneaks up behind Gorimbo, surprising him as he shares how grateful he was for his acknowledgment. The duo then share an emotional hug, and Gorimbo is seen promising Johnson to become a champion. “You inspired me to work hard, man,” he tells Johnson.

Later in the clip, Gorimbo shows Johnson where he’s been sleeping in order to train in Miami. He says that since there weren’t any rooms left, he told owners he’d be willing to sleep anywhere just to get an opportunity to train. Johnson shared the clip on Instagram alongside a sweet message to Gorimbo. “You and your family enjoy your new house brother,” it begins. “Lights are on. Bills are paid. Jamahal Hill Relinquinshes UFC Title After Achilles Tear

Jamahal Hill has officially relinquished his UFC light heavyweight title after rupturing his Achilles during a pick-up basketball game. Hill had served as the division champion since a unanimous decision win over Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 in January 2023.

“I have unfortunately suffered an injury,” Hill said. “I’ve ruptured my Achilles’ [tendon]. It’s just one of those things that happens, it’s a tough injury. It’s one that will require surgery and will require time and rehab and things for me to be out for a while. Also with that, I was given an opportunity. I was given a blessing that came at the misfortune of someone else. Jiri Prochazka was the champion, he suffered an injury as these things happen. He gave up the belt and allowed for others to not hold the division. To keep the division moving forward. To keep entertaining, [and] to make sure the people had a champion. I’ll do the same.”

UFC Searches For A New Champion

With Hill stepping aside for the time being, it leaves UFC with a vacant belt. There is only currently scheduled light heavyweight bout at the time of writing. Former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz, who fought for the vacant title in December 2022, has a fight at the end of July. Blachowicz, ESPN‘s #2 fighter in the division, feels like a natural choice for a title fight. While his July 29 opponent, Alex Pereira is a former middleweight champion, it doesn’t feel like the UFC will want to rush into a title fight. However, potentially a Blachowicz-Pereira rematch could have the belt on the line.

Furthermore, Jiri Prochazka is expected to return from his title-vacating injury by the end of 2023. There had been talk of a Hill-Prochazka fight to crown a “true” champion but obviously, that’s out of the question. Most likely, there will be a title fight between Blachowicz and Prochazka before the end of the year. Furthermore, Hill will then likely fight the reigning champion when he returns from injury. However, it’s far from ideal for the UFC with yet another “injury-vacated” title to deal with in such a short space of time.

Conor McGregor Vows To Fight Again Amidst Legal Trouble

The Notorious Conor McGregor is always in the news, but rarely is it ever for what made him famous. The UFC fighter — who draws large crowds and Pay-Per-View numbers for the MMA sport — is in hot water over rape allegations in Florida. During Game Four of the 2023 NBA Finals between the Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat, a woman claims McGregor sexually assaulted her in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center. Florida officials are investigating the matter, and Conor McGregor has not been arrested or charged yet.

Most recently, McGregor was leaving The Peninsula, a posh New York City hotel with his fiancee and children in tow. A mob of fans was waiting for the former double-champion to voice their support against the allegations. According to TMZ Sports, Conor McGregor appreciates the backing. “Thank you so much for the support,” he said, “appreciate the support.” And while there is indeed support for the estranged fighter, one has to wonder how much rope is left for the oft-maligned celebrity.

Conor McGregor has not fought since he broke his leg fighting at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. However, he still plans to get back in the octagon. “Fighting. Looking to get a fight going,” he said when asked about his future. Currently, he is coaching on The Ultimate Fighter, UFC’s flagship reality TV series. Michael Chandler is coaching the other team on the show. The two of them plan on fighting each other in a lightweight bout after the show ends. (They have yet to set a date for this.)

This is definitely not the first time Conor McGregor got himself into trouble for his public behavior. The Irishman has multiple driving offenses, UFC celebrity clashes, sexual assault allegations in Dublin, violent attacks, and arrests under his belt. Before the most recent sexual assault claim, he punched the Miami Heat mascot, Burnie, to promote his pain relief spray. It was a planned skit, but McGregor may have taken it too far. The man in the mascot costume went to the local hospital emergency room for treatment. He was later released in good health.

Rose Namajunas To Make Flyweight Debut At UFC Paris

Rose Namajunas helped define the inclusion of women in the UFC. An appearance on Season 20 of The Ultimate Fighter saw Namajunas make the move from Invicta to the UFC. While she lost to Carla Esparza in the inaugural women’s strawweight title fight, she more than earned her spot in the promotion.

Between 2015 and 2022, the Milwaukee-born fighter remained one of the division’s stalwarts, taking the title for herself with a TKO of Joanna Jędrzejczyk at UFC 217. However, a pattern began to emerge. Numajunas would win the title, defend it, then lose it on the second defense.

After losing the title to Esparza at UFC 274 in May 2022, Namajunas decided it was time for a change. She declared her intention to move up to flyweight and is now set to make her division debut against Manon Fiorot this September.

Namajunas-Fiorot Joins UFC Fight Night Paris Card

First reported by MMA Junkie, Namajunas will face French fighter Manon Fiorot at UFC Fight Night Paris on September 2. Fiorot has reportedly wanted the Namajunas for some time but is only now getting the chance. However, despite her pedigree, it’s safe to say that Namajunas is throwing herself into the fire with this debut.

Fiorot is one of the UFC’s fastest-rising fighters. She joined the promotion from UAE Warriors in 2021, scoring a TKO over Victoria Leonardo at Chiesa vs. Magny. She is 5-0 under the UFC banner, most recently taking down Katlyn Chookagian via unanimous decision at UFC 280 in October 2022. However, she’s been sidelined ever since by knee surgery.

There is a lot on the line with this fight. For Namajunas, a win would validate her division move and show that she is a force to be reckoned with across two divisions. Meanwhile, victory for Fiorot takes her another step closer to a title challenge. While it would need to wait until the resolution of a potential Grasso-Schevchenko trilogy, Fiorot has done nothing but prove herself since joining the UFC.

UFC Paris Set For Epic Card

Namajunas vs. Fiorot is not the only banger confirmed for UFC Paris. The card will be headlined by a showdown between Ciryl Gane and Sergey Spivak. It’s Gane’s second time headlining a Fight Night in Paris. The French fighter defeated Tai Tuivasa in 2022.

It’s a chance to bounce back for Gane, who has lost two of his last three fights. Most recently, he was dropped in the first round by Jon Jones. who claimed the heavyweight belt in his division debut. The 16-3 Spivak enters the fight on the back of three consecutive wins. The 28-year-old Moldovan fighter is still working his way toward being in title fight contention. He holds a 7-3 record since joining the UFC in 2019.

Three other fights have so far been announced for the card. Volkan Oezdemir (18-7) faces Azamat Murzakanov (13-0) in the men’s light heavyweight division. Meanwhile, there are two women’s bantamweight fights. Zarah Fairn Dos Santos (6-5) takes on Hailey Cowan (7-3). Additionally, Joselyne Edwards (13-4) fights Nora Cornolle (6-1).

Tyson Fury Claims UFC Has Sent Jon Jones “Hybrid Fight” Offer

UFC star Jon Jones is beefing with a lot of people right now. He continues to antagonize Francis Ngannou as the two fighters stare daggers from their rival promotions. Meanwhile, rumors of Jones fighting boxer Tyson Fury continue to swirl. Fury’s fueling of these rumors has gone as far as to confuse Ngannou, who can’t tell if Fury wants the fight or is tired of the comparison.

The idea that the two men could step into one ring or another has been in the air since Joe Rogan ignited the beef last month. “You want to talk about who’s the baddest man on the planet?” Rogan asked. “If Jon Jones and Tyson Fury are locked into a room, I’m pushing all of my chips on black. [Fury] doesn’t have a fucking chance in hell of making it out of that room.” This led to both fighters trading barbs on social media.

Fury-Jones Fight Happening?

After keeping things confirmed to social media for the past few weeks, Fury v. Jones might have just gotten a lot more real. While speaking on a cryptocurrency-themed Twitter Space, Fury revealed that he had received a fight offer from the UFC. “I’ve been in talks with Francis Ngannou for a hybrid fight,” Fury said. “There’s talks of me and Jon Jones doing a hybrid fight as we talk, right now. I received an offer from the UFC yesterday, so you never know what’s going to happen. The future’s bright, for sure, and there’s a lot of options out there.”

Fury did not reveal what the specifics of the fight deal were. However, the offer means that a very could very much be on the cards before the end of the year. Fury is currently struggling to find an opponent to face him in the boxing ring. WBC president Mauricio Sulaimán recently said that Fury was a “victim of his own success” and “He’s that good, people don’t want to fight him.” Meanwhile, Jones is likely looking at headlining a UFC event this year with a title defense against Stipe Miocic. Despite this, all eyes are on the possibility of Fury v. Jones.

Francis Ngannou Wants Jon Jones Fight

Jon Jones versus Francis Ngannou is the dream heavyweight MMA fight for many fans. After Jones made his heavyweight debut at UFC 285, winning the vacant weight class title in the process, fans hoped that a showdown with Ngannou.

However, it seemingly wasn’t to be. Ngannou, the former heavyweight champion, has been out of contract with the UFC since December. Furthermore, he recently signed with the rival Professional Fighters League, with a 2024 debut in mind. But while the chances of a fight may be down, they are certainly not out. The two fighters traded tweets after Jones made comments about Ngannou’s decision to sign with the PFL. Now Ngannou is eager to back up his call to action.

Ngannou Eager For Cross-Promotion Fight

Speaking with TMZ, Ngannou reiterated his desire to fight Jones. “I’d be on board. Listen, first of all, I always claim for this Jon Jones fight, I always wanted Jon Jones fight and then it seem like they didn’t want to make this Jon Jones fight happen.” Neither man has ever shied away from the idea of a fight. However, the UFC has never appeared eager to make it happen. Jones relinquished the light heavyweight belt in 2020 in order to focus on a potential fight with Ngannou. Despite this, the fight never materialized as Dana White appeared reluctant to match Jones’ asking price.

Additionally, Ngannou claimed that the UFC had withheld a fight with Jones to try and get Ngannou to sign a new contract. “Until they wanna use Jon Jones as leverage to play me and that wasn’t something that was going to happen. The Jon Jones fight wasn’t just coming as a fight,” Francis said, adding … “He came with strings attached. That’s what I would say. Jon Jones fight was coming with strings attached which was the thing that I couldn’t take it just like that.” Ngannou has previously claimed that the UFC’s refusal to provide health insurance and better sponsorship coverage is what led to him leaving the promotion. However, maybe Ngannou’s persistence will be enough to finally convince the UFC to let Jones step into the Octagon with him.

However, his career has been overshadowed by a number of drug scandals that have seen him stripped of his titles on three occasions. However, his skill is unmatched. He held the UFC light heavyweight title from 2011 until voluntarily vacating it in 2020. After not fighting for three years, all Jones did was debut in the heavyweight division in March 2023 and take that vacant title.

Meanwhile, Francis Ngannou is one of the most formidable stars in MMA. Debuting five years after Jones, Ngnnou became a perennial title contender in the heavyweight division. He finally won the belt in 2021 and successfully defended it in 2022 before the expiration of his contract forced him to vacate the belt. However, Ngannou’s career is set to continue elsewhere after it was announced he was signing with the Professional Fighters League.

Jones and Ngnnou Beef On Twitter

Jones and Ngannou have never fought professionally, but the outspoken shared his thoughts on Twitter after news of Ngannou’s new contract. “Calling yourself the baddest man on the planet from across the street, who does that? Lol,” Jones wrote. It was clearly a jab at Ngannou, who quickly responded.

“Then cross the street,” Ngannou wrote on his own account. The PFL is a new promotion that is set to rival the UFC. While it has been beset by some early problems, there is a chance that it could become a legitimate contender. The signing of talent like Ngnnou is a massive step towards achieving that. However, Jones doesn’t appear to agree, based on his response to Ngannou.

“My man wins on Super Bowl, transferred to a top arena football league, and then claims to be better than Brady. That’s what I’m hearing right now,” Jones wrote. Overall, Conor McGregor is one of the biggest stars that the UFC has ever seen. Having said that, it would certainly help the promotion if he could get back out there.
