The Final Episode of ‘The Wendy Williams’ Show to Air This Week

Wendy Williams Tearfully Reveals She's Living in Sober House for Cocaine Addiction

The decade-plus run of The Wendy Williams show will come to a close this Friday.

According to Variety, the final episode of the long-running talk show will end this week and Wendy Williams will not be in attendance for the final episode. Instead, a video montage celebrating Williams will be played in the time slot.

“The final original episode of ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ will air on Friday, June 17th with a video tribute to the iconic host. The series comes to an end after 13 successful years in syndication,” said a spokesperson for the show.

Wendy Williams has not been on her show for the entire 2021-22 season due to health-related issues. Throughout the season multiple guests filled in for Wendy, including Sherri Shepherd, who is hosting the final week and will have her own show this coming Fall.

Previously, Williams expressed she would be returning to her show. Co-Presidents of Debmar-Mercury, the show’s creators, Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus, said they would be willing to work with the host again.

“It doesn’t mean the next day, but we will put it together and figure it out,” Bernstein said. “It’s not like we have a Plan B where we hit a button and it’s back in a week, but we do have the desire to be in business with her, if she can come back and be healthy, and so does Fox.”

Tisha Campbell & Martin Lawrence “Worked Really Hard To Forgive” Ahead Of “Martin” Reunion Episode

BET Original Martin The Reunion 0 2 screenshot

Martin was one of the most popular sitcoms in the 90s, and fans were excited to hear that the cast would be coming back almost 30 years after the show ended for a reunion. However, what cannot be forgotten is the turmoil that ensued between Tisha Campbell and Martin Lawrence.

Tisha Campbell had sued Martin Lawrence, claiming that he subjected her to verbal abuse, sexual battery, and sexual harassment. Lawrence would go on to deny the accusations. The case was settled out of court but resulted in Campbell not performing in any scenes with Lawrence during the show’s fifth season, ruined the relationship between Campbell and Lawrence, and played a part in the show ending.

In a recent interview with CBS Mornings, Campbell spoke about the upcoming reunion and discussed resolving things with Martin Lawrence.

“We are—we worked really hard to reconnect, to forgive, and to really, this reunion is about a celebration of everything that we did, everything that we accomplished, and our growth as human beings,” Campbell said.. “So, we connected mostly on that.”

The reunion episode is set to premiere on BET+ on June 16. According to a statement from BET+, “The cast will look back on the show’s most hilarious moments, revisit the iconic characters Martin made famous and pay an emotional tribute to the late, great Tommy Ford. Complete with musical performances and drop-ins by celebrity super fans, Martin: The Reunion brings back the wazzup wazzup wazzup passion fans have been waiting for.”

[WATCH] HBO Max Releases Trailer for Issa Rae’s New Series ‘Rap Sh!t’

HBO Max Releases Trailer for Issa Rae's New Series 'Rap Sh!t'

Insecure may be over but Issa Rae is back with a new show for HBO. On Monday, HBO Max revealed the trailer for the new series Rap Sh!t.

The new show is set to release on July 21 and will highlight the work women have to do to break into the Hip-Hop industry. The story will focus on Shawn and Mia who form a rap group.

“I think this is just such a unique time in hip-hop, especially when it comes to female rappers, because there’s such an abundance, and it doesn’t feel like they’re all in competition with each other. I’m a child of the ’90s, and there used to always be a tendency to put two women against one another,” Rae said to BAZAAR.com. “It feels like we’re in an era where there’s such a supportive environment now because of that abundance. All of that, combined with just my own story of coming up, became the next story that I wanted to tell.”

A ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Was Asked To Identify A Picture Of Michael Caine, And His Response Was Truly Bonkers

Game contestants have made waves of late for screwing up in truly creative ways, but they’ve been usually consigned to Wheel of Fortune. Jeopardy!, meanwhile, is the show for brainiacs, only marred by the producers’ truly chaotic attempts to replace the dearly departed Alex Trebek. That changed on Monday night’s show, which featured a doozy for the ages.

The clue was almost insultingly basic, despite being in the $400 slot. The category was about knights. It was a picture clue about a “star who was knighted in his birthname” to honor his father, who had the same name, meaning he’s actually Sir Maurice Micklewhite. The image [spoiler] clearly showed Michael Caine, one of the most beloved screen actors in history.

Alas, the first contestant to ding in, named Mazin, did not know that. Instead, he replied, “Who is Mick Jagger?” He was wrong. It was not the co-writer of the absurdly problematic “Brown Sugar.” It was the Jaws: The Revenge alum who once spent eight years trying not to blink.

As one can imagine, poor Mazin — who came in second, losing to six-time champ Ryan Long, came in for a fair amount of online dragging, which we don’t need to share here. In general, Jeopardy! contestants aren’t so hot with pop culture references, possibly because they know actual smart stuff few others do. For instance, in May, during Mattea Roach’s reign, no one, not even she, could identify a picture of Miami Vice stars Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas.

As it happens, Monday’s episode of Jeopardy! aired on the same day it was announced Jagger himself had to postpone Rolling Stones shows because he’d tested positive for COVID-19. Here’s hoping for the best for the third greatest lead singer in music.

Issa Rae’s ‘Rap Sh!t’ Trailer Riffs On City Girls’ Twerking-Fueled Success Story

Ever since the series finale of Insecure, Issa Rae fans have waited with bated breath for her next big television project. They didn’t have to wait long; Issa and HBO announced that the multitalented creator would be crafting a show semi-based on the come-up story of Miami duo City Girls, Rap Sh!t. Today, she shared the first trailer from the show, which included a Guapdad 4000 (aka Guap) cameo. The show follows a pair of Miami strippers turned aspiring rappers named Mia and Shawna as they find fame and navigate the trouble that comes with it. Sound familiar?

Issa’s certainly accumulated her fair share of experience with the music industry — and not all of it has been good. She started her own label, Raedio, under Atlantic Records and signed her first rapper, NCognita, but also encountered the unbalanced contracts that have unfortunately become industry standard over the past few years. The experience prompted Issa to call the music industry “the worst industry I’ve ever come across,” characterizing it as “an addiction industry.” How much that will inform her depiction of the industry in Rap Sh!t remains to be seen but if the response is similar to any of her other projects, the show is sure to be a hit, even among those who don’t know the behind-the-scenes workings of the average record label. Check out the trailer above.
