50 Cent Announces His Departure From His Partnership With Starz

In April, Curtis Jackson, alternatively known as 50 Cent, exclaimed that he only had five months left of his deal with the company Starz, about whom he shared some complaints in the past regarding their treatment. Today, he’s announced his departure from his partnership with the network.

Together, they worked on Power, the American crime drama television series that has been running for six seasons. The rapper made a post on social media on Saturday, September 17, stating this split. “This is my vibe right now!” he wrote. “STARZ deal done, we had nothing but success so no hard feelings… I’m out. I’ll let you know where we are going shortly.”

In our interview with Jackson earlier this year, he discussed social issues he you hoped to address with the show. “Coming into the town, [Tommy] interacts with who he would just run into,” he said. “It turns into a whole different thing, but in the future, you should expect him to see more of that culture that we are aware of coming into the show, but it comes in as a resource that he sees. When he’s under circumstances where he gets into something and he involves them to come as muscle.

Beyoncé Sends A Heartfelt Gift To ‘Original Dreamgirl’ Sheryl Lee Ralph Following Her ‘Abbott Elementary’ Emmy Win

Over the weekend, Beyoncé had a personal gift shipped to Abbott Elementary‘s Sheryl Lee Ralph, in celebration of her recent Emmy win for Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series. Ralph became just the second Black woman to win in that category at last week’s Emmy Awards. Along with the bouquet of yellow and white flowers, Beyoncé wrote Ralph a special note, referencing the role as Deena Jones in Dreamgirls that both of them played (Ralph in the 1981 Broadway debut, Beyoncé in the 2006 movie).

“To the original Dreamgirl, sending you a beautiful congratulations,” Ralph read from the card in an Instagram video. “All my love, Beyoncé.”

Ralph played one of the soundtrack’s songs, “We’re Your Dreamgirls,” in the background, as she shared her own reaction to Beyoncé’s congratulatory present. “They’re beautiful, oh Beyoncé… I don’t have a voice, but it’s wonderful,” she said, visibly shocked by the card in the present.

For the video’s caption, Ralph continued her sweet messages to the singer, writing, “Every one has their own special dream and all your dreams can come true. Just look in the mirror and love what’s in front of you. Thank you @beyonce don’t forget to dream girls!”

Other members of the Dreamgirls universe also sent Ralph flower arrangements, including Jennifer Hudson, who won the Oscar for her portrayal as Effie White in the movie version. Although Oprah was not a part of Dreamgirls, she was also someone who gave Ralph flowers, specifically some so big “they had to open the double doors and get a trolley,” according to Ralph telling The Hollywood Reporter. She even received a call from Vice President Kamala Harris.

Kid Cudi Sends Flowers To Sheryl Lee Ralph After Her Emmy Win: ‘You Are A Legend’

Kid Cudi seems to be a fan of Abbott Elementary. In a TikTok video uploaded by actress Sheryl Lee Ralph‘s son, Etienne Maurice, Ralph, who plays Barbara Howard on Abbott, reveals to her son that Cudi sent her flowers following her winning the award for Best Supporting Actress In A Comedy Series at the Emmys.

Maurice reads the message sent with the flowers, which says, “Congrats Sheryl, you are a legend, and watching you and Quinta [Brunson] win was truly inspiring. Your speech was everything. Always rooting for you…Looking forward to meeting you one day.”

@walkgoodetienne

Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think one of my favorite artists of all time would be sending flowers to my mom. I know this is about my Mom, but @KidCudi, my mother wouldn’t know who you were if I wasn’t blasting your music on my way to school in the morning or her buying tickets to see you for my high school graduation. I am your fan from DAY 1 bro bro. Thank you for showing love to moms. You are loved my g.

It’s hard to tell who’s more excited; Ralph or her son. But nonetheless, Maurice is grateful that his mother is receiving her flowers (in both the figurative and literal sense).

“Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think one of my favorite artists of all time would be sending flowers to my mom,” he said in the post’s caption. “I know this is about my Mom, but @KidCudi, my mother wouldn’t know who you were if I wasn’t blasting your music on my way to school in the morning or her buying tickets to see you for my high school graduation. Questlove Gets A Kick Out Of Fred Armisen’s Apparently Spot-On Drumming Impressions

In recent years, Fred Armisen (previously the drummer for punk band Trenchmouth) has really leaned into music when it comes to his comedy. In 2018, for example, he released the comedy album Standup For Drummers. When he pops up on late-night TV, he tends to address similar topics, like he did on The Tonight Show yesterday, much to the delight of The Roots drummer Questlove.

On the show, Armisen had a bit in which he impersonated different types and eras of drummers. Taking to a kit set up on the stage, he began with an “Instagram drummer,” who he noted have a lot of “gimmicks” on their kits, which got an off-screen laugh from Quest as he explained it and played.

Armisen then went through how he drummed during different periods of his life, and while the astuteness and humor of the observations may be lost on non-drummers, Questlove got it, as he could be seen smiling and laughing and nodding in agreement at various points in the routine.

Elsewhere on the show, Armisen sat down for an interview with Jimmy Fallon, in which he showed off a not-so-magical magic trick as well as a number of different Spanish accents.

Jimmy Fallon Is Keeping His 2022 VMAs Beard But Not Because People Think He’s ‘So Hot Right Now’

At the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards a couple weeks ago, Jimmy Fallon was on hand to present Harry Styles the Album Of The Year award for Harry’s House. He ended up causing quite the stir by showing up with a new beard, which plenty of folks online found attractive. Later, Fallon acknowledged the ‘thirst’ and ‘confusion’ his VMAs appearance was causing on the internet.

Since then, he’s been back to hosting The Tonight Show and he still has the beard. Last night (September 12), Drew Barrymore guested on the program and she and Fallon have a strong rapport, considering they co-starred in Fever Pitch once upon a time and that Barrymore co-founded production company Flower Films with Fallon’s wife, producer Nancy Juvonen. So, she wasn’t shy about opening the interview by having some fun with Fallon’s look.

Fallon started by telling Barrymore that she looked good and Barrymore responded by exclaiming about how Fallon kept his beard. Barrymore then teased, “You love it because everybody’s saying you’re so hot right now. You love it and now you don’t want to lose it.” As Barrymore spoke and the audience cheered, Fallon bashfully laughed and said, “No, that’s not why I love it.”

After talking about it some more, Fallon offered an explanation (but not really) for why the beard has stuck around, saying, “I figured, I’m just going to keep it on. I have nothing… I figured… I don’t know why, I’m just going to leave it on…”
