BMF’s First Lady Tonesa Welch Calls Out Series For Making Character A “Pedophile”

The dramatized stories of the Black Mafia Family have captivated audiences on BMF, but Tonesa Welch has a bone to pick. On the show, La La Anthony portrays Markisha, assumed to be based on Welch, but according to the hailed “First Lady of BMF,” a plotline grossly misrepresented real-life events. She once dated Terry Flenory, one of the founders of Detroit’s infamous BMF crime organization. In an Instagram post, she detailed Markisha being intimately involved with a 17-year-old high school student on the show.

“WTF who wrote this part of the Story,” said Welch. “Terri 17 I’m 26 years my Husband a king pen but I’m having sex with a 17 year old who’s supposedly still in high school. So before Terri goes on the run he comes to my job, its close for the day we sneak in the janitors room and have Sex. I guess he’s to young to have an apartment he’s still in high school or lives with his parents. I guess they have Markisha looking like a pedophile.”

“If This was reverse and Markisha was 17 years old y’all be trying to put him in jail,” Welch added. “I never kiss this man until he was i25 years old. This is crazy 🤦🏾🗣 This is what happens when you hire the wrong representative. Please no more DM’s don’t ask me why I can’t explain it. But half y’all believe this sick shtt. Markisha character is shown in bad likeness I don’t agree with the timeline or the character traits. This show pretends it’s not me but everybody in Detroit or half the country know it’s me. Who else work at the insurance company?”

Welch was featured on BET+’s American Gangster: Trap Queens to detail her story. She has advocated for prison reform and has used her experiences on the wrong side of the law to help others in her activism. In 2021, Welch sat down with Sheen Magazine to revisit that time in her life. She shared how her crimes impacted her loved ones.

“Learning how much my lifestyle hurt and took away from my family was truly eye-opening,” Welch admitted at the time. “Seeing my son and nephews go to prison was incredibly hurtful. I brought them into that lifestyle, and it was all they knew. Even though they don’t blame me, I truly believe that they would have had better choices if I had gone a different route.”

Grammys Ratings Experience Significant Increase

The 65th annual Grammy Awards telecast brought in 12.4 million in total viewers on Sunday night. Per Nielsen’s time zone-adjusted national ratings, the show’s viewership spiked approximately 30% from last year’s Grammy awards ceremony. The 2022 Grammys had 9.6 million in total viewers after Live+Same Day tallies came in later that week. The impressive ratings made it the most viewed show of the ceremony’s evening across television networks. 12.4 million is also the largest audience for the Grammy awards since 2020.

Online and on social media, the broadcast hit 66 billion potential impressions. Thus, it is “the #1 social entertainment event of 2023,” according to CBS. By Monday morning, the world had consumed 53 million video clips of Grammy awards ceremony content across CBS and Paramount’s social media platforms. The CBS broadcast took place at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena and streamed on Paramount Plus. The live-streaming ratings were also up 33% from last year. The show broke its own record for the largest live-streaming audience in history across CBS and Paramount Plus platforms.

Trevor Noah hosted the Grammy awards ceremony for the third year in a row. The star-studded performance list included Quavo, Lizzo, Harry Styles, Sam Smith and Kim Petras, Bad Bunny, and more. Beyoncé made history as the most grammy-awarded artist in the history of the program. Lizzo also made history as the first black woman to win Record of the Year since Whitney Houston in 1994. Kim Petras made history as well, becoming the first openly transgender woman to win the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance Award for “Unholy” with Sam Smith. Additionally, Styles took home the Grammy for Album of the Year for “Harry’s House.” The Recording Academy also gathered artists to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop.

In comparison to other award shows of the year, the 2023 Golden Globes had 1.1 rating with 6.3 million viewers. NBC broadcasted the show and streamed it on Peacock. However, these ratings show a 26% and 9% drop, respectively, from last year’s Golden Globes in 2022. On social media, Golden Globes content ranked in almost 11 million digital page and video views across E! News and NBC, according to NBC. The difference in ratings between the Golden Globes and the Grammys was drastic.

‘@midnight’ Reboot To Replace James Corden’s ‘The Late Late Show’

@midnight is returning to TV’s comedy lineup after 6 years. Following James Corden’s departure from The Late Late Show, there will be no new host. Instead, The Late Late Show will be ending after almost 3 decades. CBS will instead be airing a reboot of the game show, @midnight. The show originally aired for 600 episodes on Comedy Central from 2013-2017. It will now occupy CBS’s 12:30 time slot, according to sources. The switch will happen in the spring, when Corden says goodbye to the show after almost 9 years.

The original host of @midnight, Chris Hardwick, will likely not return to the reboot. According to Variety, CBS hopes to have a female host on the show. They are also pushing to have more diversity both in front of and behind the camera. In its heyday, @midnight had a quick-witted rotating crew of comedians who played improv games about what was trending on social media. One episode could range in topics from a new Apple emoji to absurd but viral YouTube hits. Guests ranged from Jenny Slate to Ali Wong and even Weird Al Yankovic.

We hear that Stephen Colbert will be executive producing the new @midnight reincarnation. The show comes from the comedy brand ‘Funny or Die’, who created the original series on Comedy Central. This makes two hours of late-night television involvement for Colbert, who also hosts The Late Show at 11:30 on CBS. Colbert also produces Tooning Out the News and Hell of a Week with Charlamagne Tha God, as was previously reported.

A CBS spokesperson declined to comment on the network’s plans for the future of its airtime. However, CBS’s taking of @midnight would mark its second raid from Comedy Central for its late-night airtime. Stephen Colbert jumped from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to CBS’s The Late Show in 2015. Additionally, Corden’s lack of replacement follows a trend of what’s happening with Late Night TV. TBS never replaced Conan O’Brien following his departure from Conan in 2021. NBC never replaced Lily Singh following the cancelation of A Little Late. The future of late-night TV is certainly up in the air.

“Dexter” Spin-Off In The Works At Showtime

A spin-off of the 2006 serial-killer drama series, Dexter, is reportedly in the works at Showtime. According to TVLine, the network has ordered a new prequel series titled, Dexter: Origins. The show will be set in Dexter’s hometown of Miami and reference real-life serial killers of the time period. Additionally, Showtime is exploring several other spinoffs based on other Dexter characters and their backstories. Among them is the Trinity Killer.

“I couldn’t be more excited about exploring and expanding the universe of Dexter. It’s a privilege to contemplate going even deeper with these complex and iconic characters — and the stories, themes and possibilities they inspire,” said Dexter showrunner Clyde Phillips. He’ll also be working on the new franchise.

Dexter: Origins will follow the titular character of Dexter Morgan following his college graduation as he joins Miami Metro. It will detail his transformation into the cold-blooded serial killer known from the original series. The original series aired on Showtime from October 2006 to September 2013. It remains one of the most popular shows in the history of Showtime. It was nominated for 24 Primetime Emmy Awards during its run.

Showtime has also confirmed that the prequel series does not imply the cancelation of Dexter: New Blood. That show will continue to “depict the ongoing emergence of Dexter’s son Harrison.” The news comes as the network merges with Paramount+. “We have already begun conversations with our production partners about what content makes sense moving forward and which shows have franchise potential,” Chris McCarthy, the Paramount Global exec, said. Further going all in on non-original content, the network recently helmed reboots of American Gigolo and Let the Right One In.

In addition to Dexter: Origins, Showtime is also working on spin-offs to Billions. The two shows will be similarly titled Millions and Trillions. “We remain fascinated by people whose ambition is boundless and who think the laws of civilization and nature don’t apply to them,” said exec producers Brian Koppelman and David Levien.

Post Malone Nearly Arrested While Filming “Impractical Jokers” Episode

Police nearly booked Post Malone while filming a new episode of Impractical Jokers. According to the New York Post, the singer was filming a prank with Brian “Q” Quinn in New York City. Post Malone and Quinn pretended to be parking attendants at Little Man Parking on E. 22nd Street when they came across one individual who wasn’t necessarily impressed by the prank.

Little Man Parking knew that Impractical Jokers and Post Malone were filming. However, Malone was nearly in hot water after pretending to smoke weed in a customer’s vehicle. “Boss, thanks for letting me smoke that up in there, man,” he told Quinn in front of the customer. At the same time, Malone began coughing as smoke crept out of the car.

James “Murr” Murray confirmed that police nearly arrived on the scene after an angry customer almost dialed 911. Fortunately, they turned out to be familiar with the show. “Thankfully they were fans of the show,” said James “Murr” Murray. “We almost got Q and Post Malone arrested.”

Another customer of Little Man Parking turned out to be a fan of the show but he actually called the police on Post Malone and Quinn. However, they told the person that he was on a hidden-camera prank show and he wasn’t as mad anymore. “The guy who called the cops actually had a very generous attitude about it once we told him what was going on,” Quinn explained.

Season 10 of Impractical Jokers will undoubtedly be a major return for the cast. Over the past few years, they shot a large chunk of the show in New Jersey on controlled sets. However, this time, they’ll be back in the streets of New York City. “You’re gonna see us in New York City supermarkets again and delis and like all the places that we used to,” said Quinn. “We were able to shoot back in Tompkins Square Park.”

Besides the recent shoot, Post Malone is currently on the road for a set of dates in Australia. The artist performs in Dockland, AUS on Feb. 7th and 9th before heading over to Burswood for a single date on Feb. 12th. He currently has one sole U.S. date on May 26th for BottleRock Napa Valley. Hopefully, he’ll announce more U.S dates in the near future.

Angela Simmons & Yo Gotti Step Out For Grammys Date Night

After previously rapping about his crush on Angela Simmons in his “Down In The DMs” track, Yo Gotti has officially bagged the 35-year-old. Relationship rumours began circulating last September when she rapped along to the aforementioned namedrop during a night of partying. Shortly afterwards, they raised more eyebrows by posting matching vacation photos on their Instagrams.

Things were relatively quiet for the CMG head and his rumoured girl through the last few months of 2022. However, when the new year began, the New York native promptly let the world know that she was “happier than ever” with Yo Gotti. We’ve obviously been seeing more and more of the couple in public recently. This past weekend, for example, they spent their date night at the Grammys.

Like many other huge names in the industry, Gotti took a trip to Los Angeles to walk the red carpet and take in some astounding performances last night (February 5). His date for the evening, Simmons, looked as stunning as ever in a curve-hugging black dress. It came complete with a white feather trim around the bottom.

She also wore her hair in a slick updo, complete with a bang. For his part, the recording artist looked undeniably dapper in a black and white tuxedo. He opted to accessorize with a bowtie and shiny studs in his ears. In a video later uploaded to his social media, Gotti and the shoe designer walk through the venue as he tells the camera that Simmons’ feet are in pain.

“She gotta get it together,” the 41-year-old jokes as she struggles to keep up. After seeing the pair take on the red carpet together, some Twitter users chiefly expressed concern at their lack of smiles and genuine energy in some photos. “This Angela Simmons and Yo Gotti relationship seems very pressed [and] staged,” one user said.

“Idk what it is, just not looking [like an] organic, genuine relationship.” Another added, “Yo Gotti ain’t smiled since he been with Angela Simmons.” On the other hand, other social media sleuths simply praised the Memphis native for finally bagging his longtime crush.

Chrisean Rock Asks Blueface If He Wants “New P*ssy” During Drunken Argument: Video

Just last month, it sounded as though Blueface and Chrisean Rock were pulling the plug on their relationship for good. At the time, the Baltimore native revealed she was expecting a child, and her beau was quick to accordingly deny his paternity. However, they’ve since been working very closely together. As far as fans can tell, their romantic union is still going strong.

The couple has previously never been shy about sharing their drama with the internet. This is what ultimately led them to start their Crazy In Love reality show. The Zeus Network’s original project aired its entire first season over the past few weeks. Now, they’re keeping the masses entertained with bonus episodes that see more dramatic fights, among other things.

This weekend, previews began circulating that show plenty of chaos unfolding between Rock and Blueface. In one clip, the Baddies cast member assures the rapper that she’s “not gay,” and has no interest in kissing other women while he watches. Despite his incessant pleas, his girlfriend remains against the idea of sharing another girl with him in the bedroom.

On Sunday (February 5), @theneighborhoodtalk uploaded yet another sneak peek at the new episode. In this one, Chrisean sits drunkenly in the car with a few men and proceeds to ask the “Thotiana” hitmaker if he’s interested in sleeping with other people. “So I’m drunk to you? I’m a drunk bitch to you?” she presses him.

After aggressively hitting his bottle of Hennessy with her own, she yells, “Hello?! I’m trying to talk to you! What you want, some new p*ssy? It’s just gon’ make you miss my p*ssy. F*ck ’em, they ain’t better than mine.” In the background, the other men sitting in the vehicle begin to laugh at the ongoing ramblings.

The reality TV antics have been nothing short of entertaining, but as of late, Rock’s day-to-day also has her followers interested. Even with her recent pregnancy announcement, the 22-year-old has still been out on the town, turning up at events like Yung Miami’s star-studded birthday party this past weekend.

For that, she wore a matching two-piece set, putting her barely-there baby bump on display for the world to see. Check out more photos of Chrisean at the function here. Afterward, let us know if you plan to tune into Zeus’ Crazy In Love bonus episode in the comments below.

In A Surprising Upset, Bonnie Raitt’s ‘Just Like That’ Won Song Of The Year At The 2023 Grammys

While the last year boasted several incredible earworms, only one can take home the coveted Grammy for Song Of The Year. This year, in a shocking upset, the award went to “Just Like That” by Bonnie Raitt

In Raitt’s acceptance speech, she thanked the Academy, though, she admitted that just like all of us, she was surprised.

“This is just an unreal moment.” she said.

Earlier in the night, Raitt won the Grammy for Best American Roots Song, also with “Just Like That,” and the Best Americana Performance Grammy for her song, “Made Up Mind.”

Among the other Song Of The Year nominees were Gayle’s “abcdefu,” Lizzo’s “About Damn Time,” Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well (10 Minute Version),” Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” Steve Lacy’s “Bad Habit,” Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul,” Adele’s “Easy On Me” DJ Khaled’s “God Did,” which featured Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, JAY-Z, John Legend, and Fridayy, and Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5

With her latest Song Of The Year award, Raitt now has 14 Grammys to her name.
