This is the time of year when most artists starting winding down, taking the final days of the year off before looking forward to January and beyond. The Weeknd fans got a dose of excitement yesterday (December 18), though, when a new song popped up on The Weeknd’s Spotify artist page.

Is The Weeknd’s “Trust Issues” on streaming services?

Yesterday, “Trust Issues” made it onto Spotify, as HotNewHipHop notes. It’s a track fans know well, as it originally surfaced online back in 2011. The song is The Weeknd’s take on Drake’s “Trust Issues,” but with modified lyrics, so it’s sort of a cover and sort of a remix (the original upload was titled “Trust Issues (Remix).”

As soon as the song hit Spotify, some fans knew something was amiss. One listener who checked out the song’s credits tweeted, “This will be gone very fast, it looks like someone did that and it’s not approved by himself or the Label. – Label is called weeknd – No writer and producer – It would be called Trust Issues (Remix) – It would be out on other platforms.”

Indeed, it turns out the upload was not legitimate: The Weeknd retweeted a tweet that reads, “‘Trust Issues’ is NOT an official release! The Weeknd’s Spotify account was hacked and the hacker released the song ‘Trust Issues’.”

The song is no longer available on Spotify, or any other streaming platform in an official capacity, as of this post.

“Trust Issues”: The Weeknd Confirms Song Release Was A Spotify Hack

Thanks to Drake helping put Toronto on the map, the city has since brought forth plenty of musical talent. Tory Lanez, Daniel Caesar, and Roy Woods immediately come to mind, as well as Abel Tesfaye – better known as The Weeknd. The Starboy singer has been putting in work at the studio for well over a decade now, and even recently revealed that he’s retiring from doing features unless his favourite group gets back together. His sound has always been progressive and experimental, and thanks to Scorpionic influences in his birth chart, Tesfaye is near constantly shedding old skins in favour of rebirthing new eras of himself.

Even with all the boundaries he’s helping to push, The Weeknd still loves the occasional cover. Before climbing the charts to reach the level of superstardom he’s at now, the Uncut Gems actor went viral for putting a unique spin on Drizzy’s “Trust Issues.” It’s been over 12 years since the track first surfaced online, and today (December 18), it finally appeared on Tesfaye’s Spotify profile. While fans were excited to see the beloved single available for listening, we now know it wasn’t the 33-year-old’s intention to release it.

The Weeknd Retweets Post About “Trust Issues” Drop Being Illegitimate

A tweet from @dawnfm103_5 was reposted by Abel this afternoon, noting that his streaming account was compromised. “‘Trust Issues’ is NOT an official release!” they wrote. “The Weeknd’s Spotify account was hacked and the hacker released the song ‘Trust Issues’‼” they reiterated. At the time of publication, the Drake cover is no longer on Spotify, though you can still find it elsewhere online.

Even without “Trust Issues” being available on DSPs, it was an impressive year for The Weeknd. His listeners helped to rack up over 12 billion streams on Spotify alone, with even more coming in thanks to others like Apple Music and YouTube. Lizzo Opens Up About “Working On Herself,” Trust Issues & New Music

Lizzo’s been relatively tight-lipped since news broke earlier this year of a harassment lawsuit against her from a couple of her former dancers. Sure, she’s still been active on social media and at public events, but she’s said little of her thoughts and emotions throughout this ordeal. However, in a new Instagram post on Thursday (November 16), the singer opened up a little bit more about what’s going on in her life right now. Not all of it deals with these accusations, but it’s hard to interpret any statement from her without that context. Regardless, it seems like the Detroit native is processing many things about herself in addition to this legal battle.

“Hi,” Lizzo simply started off a caption for a mirror selfie, in which she tagged her shape wear brand Yitty. “I’m working.. on music, myself, relationships with people and food, my anxiety, my body, my business, and my trust issues with the world. But they are deep now, deeper than they’ve ever been. Xoxo.” This comes after relatively innocuous social media activity, such as showing off her Halloween costumes.

Lizzo’s New Instagram Post

In addition, this statement also arrives as more public figures and Lizzo’s own team contributes to the narrative around her treatment of her former dancers. Some believe these women, whereas others firmly stand by her or, at least, acknowledge that this is getting her a lot of negative press that people love to gobble up. For example, Keke Palmer recently spoke on the 35-year-old’s position, explaining that people either want to see celebrities as infallible heroes or as institutions to fight against or de-platform. For Palmer and many others, though, she sits in the middle zone of that, which shouldn’t warrant such blind vitriol from either side.

Meanwhile, this case could still turn around and become a settlement, and this is definitely something that everyone can learn from. As such, perhaps this will just be a bump in the artist’s successful road, or one that sees her reevaluate and restructure her behavior and tendencies. Either way, it’s at least heartening to see her slowly but surely come to terms with everything that accusations like this entail. Megan Fox & Machine Gun Kelly’s Trust Issues May Lead To The Demise Of Their Relationship

It’s been well over a month since rumours of a split between Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox took over the news cycle, and still, we don’t have a clear answer as to whether the engaged couple will be carrying on with their wedding plans. Earlier this week, insiders gave PEOPLE the latest update on all the drama, noting that the actress’ trust issues with her fiancé seem to be a great cause of concern. As you may recall, initial speculation had fans assuming that the rapper-turned-rocker cheated on his partner with his guitarist, Sophie Lloyd.

Both the musician and Fox denied those allegations, though MGK himself has yet to speak out on the situation. He and the black-haired beauty have been attending regular therapy sessions, but insiders say that, at this point, chances of reconciliation are looking pretty slim. “This is really boiling down to not working,” one source told the publication. “There have been points where they haven’t been speaking — it’s been that bad,” they added.

Another person close to the situation made it clear that Kelly and the Jennifer’s Body starlet continue to “work on their issues” rather than calling it quits. “Only time will tell if they get back together properly, but it looks pretty unlikely right now,” they explained. It’s well known that the embattled couple has “always had kind of a tumultuous relationship.” As a whole, it’s constantly been “very up and down” for both of them.

When word of Megan Fox’s potential singledom first arose, we were reminded that “She was never one to casually date, so she put her whole heart into their relationship.” Despite all the effort, however, “She isn’t happy now, though. She took her engagement ring off a while ago, and it’s not back on.” Do you think the mother of three and MGK will reunite to walk down the aisle?
