Travis Scott is responding to an Astroworld victim’s attorney after receiving backlash for stopping a recent concert to keep fans safe.

Alex Hilliard, an attorney representing Ezra Blount’s family said Scott’s actions don’t prove he is compassionate and willing to keep order.  The family believes it shows the “goosebumps” rapper is picking and choosing when he puts his fans safety first.

A representative for Scott told TMZ,  the attorney’s and family’s response is despicable, and a cynical height of hypocrisy. The rep also said they are completely ignoring the fact that 31-year-old Scott stopped his performance at Astroworld three different times.

La Flame stopped his performance over the weekend to tell fans to get down from the light fixtures they had climbed. He encouraged the concert goers to listen to the requests from security and climb down from the lighting structures so that everyone would be able to safely enjoy his performance.

The family of Ezra Blount is suing Travis Scott, Live Nation and other organizers of the festival for his death. Blount was 9 years-old, the youngest victim of the Astroworld tragedy, which killed 10 people.

Travis Scott Adds Second London Show Due to Fan Demand

Travis Scott Returns to Public Performances with E11even Miami Performance

Travis Scott has made his return to stage and will take his show to London’s famed O2 Arena. Scott’s upcoming show is so hyped that a second show has been added due to fan demand.

Scott was schedule to appear at the O2 on August 6. After a two hour sell out of the arena, Scott added another show on August 8.

“Travis’s packed weekend performances and [the] fact that his O2 show in London sold out within two hours are just the latest signs that fan demand is sky-high for the return of one of the world’s favorite artists,” a spokesperson said to Complex.

Travis was on stage in the United States over the Fourth of July weekend. TMZ notes Scott stopped a show on Monday Night as fans caused potentially dangerous situations.

Travis and Meek Mill performed at Coney Island. Scott had a DJ set and also took the stage. During his performance, fans climbed a lighting structure to watch Travis perform.

Travis requested the fans to climb down, which they obliged, allowing the show to continue.

A spokesperson for Travis Scott spoke to Pitchfork about the moment:

Travis is committed to doing his part to ensure events are as safe as possible so that fans can have fun, and he encouraged fans to listen to requests from security and climb down from the lighting structures so that everyone would be able to safely enjoy last night’s performance.

Travis Scott’s First Concert Since Astroworld Sold Out So Fast That He Already Added A Second Show

Last week, just six months following the Astroworld tragedy at Travis Scott’s Houston festival that left ten people dead and over 5,000 injury claims, Scott announced his first headlining concert return to the stage. His first solo show is taking place on August 6th at London’s O2 Arena, which has a capacity of 20,000 people. This performance comes before his already announced November headlining set at Primavera Sound in São Paulo, Brazil and would have come before Scott’s Day N Vegas festival headlining performance had it not been recently cancelled.

Tickets for the London show sold out within two hours of going on sale, and Scott wasted no time in adding a second show. Scott posted on his Instagram feed this past weekend to announce the second show, which will be happening the next night on August 7th at 02 Arena. The image shows both dates, but with a “Sold Out” tag in front of the first concert and his comment reads, “Ahhhhhhhhh…quicker than a flash,” with British flag emojis interspersed between the text. “Extra date added due to demand,” reads the caption above the newly added concert.

As Complex reports, a spokesperson for Scott issued a statement referencing Scott’s performance at this past weekends Coney Art Walls, saying, “Travis’s packed weekend performances and [the] fact that his O2 show in London sold out within two hours are just the latest signs that fan demand is sky-high for the return of one of the world’s favorite artists.”

To Scott’s credit, he stopped the Coney Island show to ensure that fans that were climbing a lighting truss made their way down before the show continued. When he takes the stage for two nights in London this coming August, things will surely have a different tone than in the past.

Travis Scott Stopped Fans Dangling From A Lighting Truss During His Coney Island Walls Performance

In the beginning of an extensive festival run this year Travis Scott performed at the Coney Art Walls in Coney Island this past weekend. Opening for Meek Mill, he took the stage, and in a near repeat of events from a 2017 show at New York’s Terminal 5, chaos ensued.

A video shared by TMZ shows fans climbing up a lighting truss as Scott was performing. One fan can even be seen wearing a Spider-Man costume. Avoiding a repeat of the infamous Astroworld disaster from last November, Scott stopped the show and ordered fans to get down from the truss, and also asked security not to push fans.

Scott was set to perform at Coachella this year but was removed from the line-up, presumably due to the Astroworld events. He was also set to perform at Day N Vegas Festival in Las Vegas this fall, but the festival has since been canceled due to technical issues. He is still set to perform at Primavera Sound Festivals in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile this November, about a year after Astroworld.

The Astroworld events resulted in nearly 5,000 claims of injuries. Scott is currently facing several lawsuits following Astroworld, including a wrongful death suit filed by a woman who suffered a miscarriage.

Day N Vegas Festival 2022, With J. Cole, SZA, And Travis Scott, Has Been Cancelled

Since it first began in 2019, Day N Vegas had been establishing itself as one of the marquee hip-hop and R&B music festivals in the country — one that can stand up to the growing influence of the many Rolling Loud properties around the world. The 2022 edition of Day N Vegas was slated to be the first major US festival performance for Travis Scott following last year’s Astroworld tragedy. But now, it’ll all have to wait, as Day N Vegas 2022 has been cancelled.

Previously scheduled to go down from September 2nd – 4th at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds with headliners J. Cole, SZA and Scott, festival organizers announced today that due to, “A combination of logistics, timing and production issues,” they are forced to cancel the festival. The full statement from Day N Vegas reads as follows:

We’re sorry to announce that a combination of logistics, timing and production issues have forced us to cancel Day N Vegas for 2022. The refund process will begin immediately, and funds will appear back to your account within the next 2-4 weeks. All orders will be refunded to the credit card used to complete purchase. If you purchased a festival pass(es) via AXS and have questions about the refund process, please contact AXS via support.axs.com. Also scheduled to perform, were acts like 21 Savage, Baby Keem, H.E.R., Jhene Aiko, Jorja Smith, Joji, Playboi Carti, Summer Walker, Pusha T, and more.

Travis Scott’s First Post-Astroworld Solo Concert Will Be A London Show In August

After taking a six-month hiatus in performing in the wake of the fatal events at his Houston Astroworld Festival in late 2021, Travis Scott has slowly begun to roll out a slate of return performances. After popping up at small parties for the Oscars and Coachella, Travis booked a headlining set for Primavera Sound in Sao Paulo. Then, in May, Travis performed his new single “Mafia” at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards before being announced as one of the headliners for the return of the upcoming Day N Vegas festival. Meanwhile, his first club performance in May reportedly charged $50,000 for tables due to high demand.

Today, according to Rolling Stone, Travis booked his first solo headlining concert, which is scheduled for August 6 at London’s O2 Arena, which has a 20,000-person capacity. it’s likely he’ll use the response as a test case to determine the approach for any tour he’ll have for his upcoming album Utopia.

Still, he’ll likely remain in a sticky position as a result of the Astroworld tragedy, which spawned hundreds of lawsuits and almost 5,000 injury claims. Those lawsuits have been combined into one case which has yet to be tried. Meanwhile, Travis’ attempts to make amends, such as his Project HEAL initiative, have been criticized as PR stunts committed in the interest of generating positive publicity.
