GloRilla Fan Catches Wig At Show And Installs It

For those who have yet to attend a GloRilla show, be warned: the Memphis rapper is not for the mess. CMG’s newest member has gone viral in recent months for her off-stage encounters with fans. While on tour to promote her debut EP, Anyway, Life’s Great, showgoers have even thrown clothes at Glo to get her attention. While that clearly isn’t the best route, it’s sure to spark a response from the rapper, who isn’t afraid to let her feelings be known.

“Dey tried to take my wig while I was performing,” GloRilla says of her Philly show on February 26. In footage obtained by No Jumper, the “F.N.F” powerhouse proceeds to jump into the crowd mid-performance, where a battle ensues for her hair. As fans clamor for the star’s attention, a few try to go for her black and green lacefront. In an effort to keep the peace, however, GloRilla simply takes it off and throws it their way. In the video, a woman donning red locks goes on to argue with another over the expensive headpiece. The former, who goes by @_laladabratt on TikTok, ended up taking the win—and the wig—home.

TikToker Dons Wig Originally Worn By GloRilla

In her now-viral video, the GloRilla fan says it was the “best night ever” as she recalls the chance moment. Lala went on to say she “finna cherish this wig till death do us part” before doing the unthinkable. In the following post, the concert attendee raps to Glo’s “Internet Trolls” as she installs the wig on her own head. The fan has now either deactivated her Instagram page or simply changed the name, but as we know, the internet is quick. One user screenshotted her thoughts on GloRilla, who she said “is everything in person” while gushing about the hair. “God is great… I love her so much,” Lala added.

GloRilla’s Oakland show saw outrageous fanfare as well. One attendee became angered at the thought of her not taking the stage after Glo stated she was only paid to host. Reports say they threw a water bottle at the star as she exited New Karibbean City with her team, who responded by throwing a drink back. CMG label head Yo Gotti jumped in via Instagram, stating it costs $30,000 for a GloRilla performance. “[You] must [have] booked Lil Glo, NOT Big Glo #CMG,” he writes.

Kali Uchis Previews Summer Walker Feature On “Deserve Me”

The promotion for Kali Uchis’ album release has her fandom in a frenzy. Over the weekend, the vocalist shared her latest single “Moonlight,” which will be on Red Moon in Venus. The album isn’t too feature-heavy, with only three artists appearing on the 15-track project. Her boyfriend, Love Sick crooner Don Toliver, is listed as one, as well as Omar Apollo and Summer Walker. Now, a snippet of her Summer collab is officially here, and it’s shaping out to be her next big hit.

Kali took to TikTok yesterday to show off Summer Walker’s celestial vocals. On “Deserve Me,” the Atlanta songstress stays true to form as she tells a man off for not knowing how to act. “I don’t deserve the s**t you put me through / Like you don’t know that you’re lucky / Make a cute n***a feel ugly / Like I got time for callin’ you,” she sings. In the original posting, Kali Uchis says Walker’s verse is her favorite on the song. She then proceeded to delete the video and repost the track in a new one, telling fans “I like this video better” as she shows off her figure in all-black.

Immediately after posting, fans went off in the comments. “MOTHER IS MOTHERING,” writes one, with another calling “Deserve Me” “The collab of my dreams.” The visual follows Kali’s appearance on Don Toliver’s 90s-inspired “4 Me” single. On it, the lovers sample Beenie Man and Mya’s ever-popular “Girls Dem Sugar,” coupled with hitmaker Wheezy on production. Kali Uchis has also been featured on Life of a Don’s second single, “Drugs N Hella Melodies.” The two lovebirds tap each other together again for Uchis’ “Fantasy,” which can be heard on Red Moon In Venus.

Last month, Kali Uchis announced the forthcoming project after dropping “I Wish You Roses,” her first offering of the year. The singer says the ethereal track “is about being able to release people with love.” “It could be a friend, a lover, or someone else,” she continues, “but the point is to celebrate releasing people from your life without being resentful or bitter.” Stay tuned for more from Kali upon her third studio release, out this Friday (March 3).

Charleston White Trolls T.I.’s Paperwork Party In Atlanta

YouTube personality Charleston White has made quite a name for himself and his unapologetic ways this past year. His brief bout with Soulja Boy made headlines in July 2022 after he allegedly maced Soulja’s 12-person team. The mace came back out last Friday, apparently, during Charleston’s latest visit to Atlanta. White pulled up to T.I.’s paperwork party prepared to troll after comments he made toward’s his son, 18-year-old King.

According to info from the TikTok clip, Charleston White was in town for his own event when he passed T.I.’s new Trap City Cafe. White and his friends can be heard taunting the rapper from their car as they pass. After spotting T.I. and his luxury car parked outside, a woman in the vehicle asked if she should call his attention. “If you want to… You’re ready to fight?” White asks her amidst their laughter. “S**t, I got my mace.” Later, he goes on to fake-praise the rapper for capitalizing off his ongoing snitching rumors, nicknaming him “Tippy” in the process.

Charleston White Stops By T.I.’s Trap City Cafe For Laughs

Soon after, Charleston makes note of the droves of people lined up outside of T.I’s eatery and his adjacent Trap Music Museum. “That might hurt Boosie,” White says in regard to their current beef. The two southern legends were scheduled to release a collab album, which Boosie shelved after allegations that T.I. put a gun charge on his late cousin. The party he held Friday was his second attempt at maintaining his innocence. The King had recently shown proof of the false claims on Instagram after Boosie called him a rat during an interview with VladTV.

In light of this, Charleston White got thrown into T.I.’s line of fire after sparring with his son online. King called White a “b***h boy” and threatened violence toward the social commentator. In response, Charleston says King should be put in jail for threatening “a senior citizen.” T.I. almost immediately chimed in, resulting in a phone call between the two that didn’t go smoothly. “F*** you and that ugly a** 18-year old son of yours,” he told social media after their chat. He continued to show no fear toward Tip in a later interview with Dede McGuire. White tells the radio host “He ain’t never been to jail for killing nobody. I’m scared of ni**as that done killed people.”

Cuban Link’s Prank On 50 Cent Backfires

50 Cent and Cuban Link are still going strong. The couple went public in 2019 and haven’t shied away from showcasing their relationship on social media and red carpet affairs. Cuban Link is always on Fif’s side whenever he’s premiering a television show. However, she also includes him in her social media antics which often lead to hilarious candid reactions from Fif. For example, she trolled him for his weight loss in All Things Fall Apart. “This mother fucker done lost her mind,” he said in response. “I’m a throw her fucking phone out of the highway.”

Overall, the couple is still quite happy with one another. Link often times showcases the funny side of their relationship on TikTok while also highlighting their successes. She doesn’t hesitate to publicly congratulate her man on his wins, whether on television or otherwise. Still, she drags Fif into her online antics every so often. It’s kind of like giving him a small dose of his own medicine, considering that he’s usually trolling everyone else.

While 50 Cent remains hip-hop’s biggest troll, it appears as though Cuban Link might be his match. This weekend, she shared a video of herself and 50 Cent laid up when she began recording herself and telling Fif about a man that’s been in her DMs. “This boy be in my DMs saying I’m pretty,” she said while Fif sounded nothing short of confused. “He said I’m pretty,” she reiterated. Fif kept his response short, telling her, “Go ‘head, get knocked out.” Link simply laughs it off before turning the camera off.

The latest post from Cuban Link further dispels rumors that there was trouble in their relationship. Last year, reports emerged online that the couple split. Fif and Cuban Link allegedly unfollowed each other on Instagram and deleted pictures of each other off of their respective pages. In most cases, it’s a sign that a relationship is completely done but that’s evidently not the case. The two are still happy and together. Check out Cuban Link’s post above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Latto Denies Dating 21 Savage, Again

Latto’s a hot topic these days, especially when it comes to her dating life. Despite being one of the leading ladies in the rap game right now, she’s managed to keep some aspects of her life private. However, those same aspects also became subject to internet theories and speculation. Over the past few years, she convinced fans that she and 21 Savage are an item. Both have them have denied this to be true but fans think that it’s largely an attempt to keep their private matters out of the public eye.

The 777 rapper previously explained why she keeps her relationship status under wraps. Considering that she often faces criticism for just about anything, she explained that she wants to protect her relationship from unwanted criticism and opinions. “This is gonna sound so cliche, but it’s the truth. Everything about my life is to be picked apart by social media,” Latto said. “I gotta hear everybody’s two cents and opinions on something that don’t got nothing to do with them,” she concluded.

Latto Shuts Down Dating Rumors, Again

It appears that Latto can’t escape the questions surrounding 21 Savage. This weekend, she hit TikTok to flex her cooking skills for “Soul Food Sunday.” “It’s Soul Food Sunday so I woke up and cooked my man some food because that’s what wives do, period. Catch up, hoe,” she said in the audio. Latto whipped up collard greens with turkey, Mac and cheese, and some fried chicken – an elaborate meal that any man would be lucky to have on a Sunday night.

It didn’t take long for fans to speculate who she was cooking for and one fan directly asked whether she’s with 21 Savage. “No, I’ve said I’m not plenty times,” she said. However, fans still didn’t believe her claims. After all, she appears to have 21’s government name tattooed behind her ear. Earlier this year, 21 Lil Harold fanned the flames after referring to the two as a “cute couple.” Still, neither has coughed up to being an item. Check out Latto’s comments above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Wendy Willians Ices Out Fan Attempting To Help Her Walk

It’s a common occurrence to run into celebrities from all walks of life throughout New York City. This is something one social media user, Queen Nurys, knows all too well. Judging by her viral posts, the woman seeks out well-known names as she treks through the city for photo ops. Most even seem to welcome Nurys with open arms as she records their public encounters. Her recent chance meeting with Wendy Williams, however, didn’t go exactly as she’d planned it to.

In one of Nurys’ latest TikTok clips, Wendy Williams can be seen exiting her SUV in the bustling city. Though the 58-year-old was recently quoted saying she has “the mind and body of a 25-year-old,” this didn’t stop her from demanding assistance getting onto the sidewalk. “I’m going,” the controversial TV host announces, proceeding to point to the ground. “Somebody help me.” While it’s not clear if anyone came to her aide at first, Queen Nury goes on to show her own attempt moments later. The woman extends her phone-less hand to the former radio personality, to which she responds with an icy “Oh no.”

Wendy Williams Blocks Fan’s Attempt To Assist Her

”I tried to help her but she had a nasty attitude like wtf,” Nurys wrote into the clip. The run-in, which has since amassed over 1.7 million views, saw a legion of fans coming to Wendy Williams’ defense. Many made a point that Queen Nury’s gesture seemed insincere, following her trend of finding stars for likes. “The gaslighting is real,” one user began. “Imagine being in a vulnerable state, needing help but the only person with a hand out is ready to tell the world they did a good deed.” Nurys says she was simply a fan of The Wendy Williams Show and was going to ask her for a selfie.

Regardless if the gesture was genuine or not, it was a clear response to Williams’ ongoing health battles. The longtime tea-spiller was documented leaving a rehab facility in October 2022 following her show’s end. Though Wendy Williams struggles with Graves’ Disease, she confirms she’s feeling “better than ever.” Her and publicist Shawn Zanotti have also confirmed future projects in the works, including an upcoming podcast.

North West Imitates Kim Kardashian In Comedic Cooking TikTok: Watch

As the firstborn of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s four children, North West has had more time than any of her siblings to connect with her parent’s fans. Thanks to today’s digital age, the 9-year-old is a frequent flyer on TikTok (despite her father’s protests), where she recruits family members and friends to join her for comedic videos. Seeing as she has two creative icons as her parents, it only makes sense that the young girl loves to express herself through various outlets.

On Saturday (February 25), North and her mom’s joint account lit up with a five-part series of videos. Throughout the uploads, the content creator and her friend reveal their recipe for cooking homemade pasta, though it didn’t come without plenty of hilarious moments. In fact, Kardashian’s daughter even poked fun at her during one clip, imitating how the socialite would react to finding crumbs in her bed.

North West Channels Kim while Making Pasta for TikTok

The moment came during North’s third TikTok post yesterday. While preparing the pasta dough with her hands, she sprinkles some from high up in the air before yelling out, “It’s raining crumbs!” Immediately after, she reflects on how Kardashian would likely react to her antics. “My mum would hate to have this in bed, she’d be like, “Oh my gosh you put these crumby crumby crumbs in my bed, you can’t sleep in my bed!”

“Then I’d be like, ‘Oh I don’t want to sleep in your bed.’ She doesn’t like crumbs in her bed,” North went on to explain, still chefing away. By the end of their fifth video, the two young girls finally finished prepping their dough, which was seemingly put together without any adult help. The comment section on the account remains limited, but social media users are still talking about Kim’s daughter’s cheeky comments.

North Proves She’s Ice Spice’s Biggest Fan

Elsewhere on her TikTok page, North has been making waves with her various tributes to rising rapper Ice Spice. Earlier this month, the young entertainer revealed that her drawing skills are seriously on point while showing off a portrait of the Bronx baddie. Upon seeing the clip, the “Bikini Bottom” hitmaker praised her new friend for her hard work while returning the love.

Aside from her art, West has also been using Spice’s latest guest feature on PinkPantheress’ “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2” to soundtrack several of her posts. In the days after the rap diva responded to her drawing, she and Kardashian posted up in their beautiful home, lip-syncing along to the catchy new song. See for yourself below, and check back later for more pop culture news updates.

Kehlani Posts Flirty TikTok With New GF Kiara Russell

Kehlani’s love life is always a fascinating topic of discussion. For most of her career, she’s dated high-profile stars of both genders. Early on in her career, she had flings with NBA star Kyrie Irving, fellow R&B singer PARTYNEXTDOOR, and rapper YG. Then last year, she dated blossoming alternative singer 070 Shake, though they broke up in late September. Now, her newest boo is another sports figure. In December she subtly revealed that she was in a relationship with Kiara Russell. Russell, who is turning 25 in March, is a former Division I women’s basketball player. Since graduating from Arizona State University, she landed a job as an assistant for UConn women’s team.

While in this new relationship, Kehlani has still stayed busy at work. On Feb. 19, she took to Instagram to announce an upcoming studio album titled SweetSexySavage 2.0. while there is currently no release date or track list for the project, Kehlani declaring it “album time” in her caption means it could be on the way soon. This project would be a sequel to her debut album from 2017 SweetSexySavage. While it’s unclear who else could be included on the album feature-wise, it’s nice to know she is still crafting new music while spending time with her girlfriend.

♬ Hey Hey – Radio Edit – Polo Frost

When Kehlani and Kiara first revealed their relationship, they did so via a lighthearted TikTok video. So, it only makes sense that they would continue using the app to publicly display their love for each other. On Thursday (Feb. 23), the duo was seen together on the app singing along to a recently popular song. Using Polo Frost’s “Hey Hey” track that samples Train’s “Hey, Soul Sister,” Kehlani and Kiara lip sync the raunchy lyrics. “Accidentally put it in her booty, I was drunk she like, ‘Hey, hey’,” the song goes. The TikTok shows just how much the couple enjoys each other’s company. Making silly videos and showing each other off on social media is a good indicator of a health relationship for the pair.

In a recent interview with Amelia Dimoldenberg on her Chicken Shop Date series, Kehlani said she doesn’t have a type when it comes to dating. “People would say that I have a type, but they haven’t seen everybody that I’ve ever talked to or dated. So I’m actively always fighting that in my head. Like, do I just get on the internet and show them every single person I’ve ever spoken to?” she said. “I’ve got flavors, for real.” While fans may dispute this point from Kehlani, they cannot argue how happy she looks in her new relationship with Kiara. And that is all that matters at the end of the day.

How Black Country Artists Are Finding Their Space On TikTok

Around this time ten years ago, Florida Georgia Line’s “Cruise” had already spent five weeks atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs ranking. Thanks to a remix from Nelly — a preeminent artist at the intersection of hip-hop and country — “Cruise” highlighted the emergence of bro-country and a turning point in hip-hop-inspired country music production. It would go on to spend 24 cumulative weeks atop the chart — setting a new record Billboard‘s longest-running country number one at the time.

In the decade since the success of “Cruise,” the sounds of Black artists have been increasingly present on country radio and streaming playlists, while the faces of Black artists have struggled to break through and solidify a stronghold in the genre’s mainstream beyond a select few mainstays like Darius Rucker, Kane Brown, and, more recently, Jimmie Allen and Mickey Guyton. To put it into perspective, when Kane Brown topped Hot Country Songs in 2017 with “What Ifs,” he was the first Black artist to reach the pole position since Darius Rucker in 2008, who, in turn, was the first Black artist to reach No. 1 on that chart in 25 years. Rucker would reach No. 1 on the chart in 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2013. Nevertheless, in the time between Rucker and Brown’s chart-toppers, songs sung by white artists who borrowed liberally from hip-hop production motifs saw great success: “Meant to Be” (Florida George Line & Bebe Rexha), “Body Like a Back Road” (Sam Hunt), and, more recently, “Wasted on You” (Morgan Wallen).

In the latter half of the last decade, a shift started to occur. The dual inflection points of Beyoncé and The Chicks’ performance at the 50th Annual Country Music Association Awards and the removal of Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” from Hot Country Songs for “not embracing enough elements of today’s country music” marked a new era for Black artists in country’s mainstream. Beyoncé’s performance highlighted the bluesy foundation of country music’s Black roots, and Lil Nas’s response to the “Old Town Road” controversy, and his subsequent remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, eloquently exposed the inconsistencies within the country music establishment in reference to who is allowed to mix trap and country and still be considered country. For RVSHVD, a rising country star that has gained ample traction on TikTok, those moments “meant more Black people in country music, more Black people showing that we can do this to.” At the turn of the decade, in tandem with the explosion of TikTok, a new generation of Black country artists have emerged as the genre’s next set of crossover stars, equally capable of crafting a knockout hook as they are at bending the notoriously finicky TikTok algorithm to their will.

Tanner Adell, whose sonic profile blends the vocal bombast of a young Carrie Underwood with the lyrical flourishes of early Taylor Swift, has quickly emerged as one of the leading Black country artists on TikTok. She currently boasts over 333,000 followers on the platform with 5.7 million likes across all of her videos — and that’s not counting the videos of hers that have gone viral on Twitter and Facebook by way of fans reposting her TikToks to those sites. Tanner’s two most-viewed TikToks find her promoting her songs by embracing elements of her artistry and personhood that are seemingly outside of the traditional boundaries of modern country music aesthetics.

A snippet of a still-unreleased song titled “Buckle Bunny” garnered 2.8 million views and over half a million likes; the TikTok is a response to a user saying that “where I’m from, buckle bunny is a huge insult,” and Tanner replying “same” in the caption along with a slew of cheeky emojis. Two other TikToks, each of which earned over one million views, feature Tanner responding to a user eagerly inquiring if she is a “Black girl country singer.” The captions for both TikToks contain some variation on injecting country music with “bgm,” or “Black girl magic.” With content like this, Tanner effectively creates a bond between her and new listeners, which, in turn, folds them into a community that finds common ground in embracing elements of themselves that, in some circles, label them as outsiders. In addition to these kinds of videos, Tanner also utilizes TikTok like an everyday person. She posts videos documenting her wash days and hair care routines, playing around with trending filters, and dancing to popular songs and choreography like Lizzo’s “About Damn Time.” For Tanner, her smart, yet effortless, use of TikTok has translated into tangible success — which she has celebrated through, you guessed it, TikToks. She’s on Spotify billboards, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders have performed to her song “Honkytonk Heartbreak,” her debut single, and, as of a November 2022 TikTok, “Love You a Little Bit” has garnered over four million streams across platforms.

In both his approach to music-making and the way he tackles the TikTok algorithm, RVSHVD looks to hip-hop. After first gaining traction on the platform through country covers of popular rap songs, Roddy Ricch’s “Ballin” chief among them, RVSHVD figured out his own personal cheat code to the app. On his profile, RVSHVD lists four different playlists of TikToks: Originals, Covers, If I Was Featured On, and Country Versions.

“The country version sort of just happened,” RVSHVD said. “I hadn’t seen anybody covering rap songs in other genres. I seen it in rock, like ‘hip-hop goes rock,’ but I hadn’t seen it in country. So I did that and that just sort of took off.” As the TikTok algorithm would have it, RVSHVD had to switch up his content to stay ahead of the curve. “That’s when I came up with ‘If I Was Featured On,’” he remarked. “I got that from Lil Wayne, back on like Da Drought and Dedication. You remember he used to remix other people’s songs?” It is quite easy to get pigeonholed into a monotonous content loop on TikTok, but RVSHVD found a way to successfully transfer the engagement from his covers to his original music. “I’m constantly coming up with new ideas. As soon as I see something not getting some attention, that’s when I switch it up,” he said. “Like changing the kind of videos I do or changing the kind of sounds I’ve been posting… sometimes it’s just as simple as switching locations.”

Through a steady stream of TikToks chronicling the song’s journey from an unreleased demo to a TikTok sound snippet to an official single complete with a music video, “Hit Different” has put up strong numbers across streaming platforms and currently ranks as RVSHVD’s most popular solo song on Spotify. “Hit Different,” which RVSHVD describes as “a down home song, something about me,” wasn’t his first stab at twisting the TikTok algorithm to launch a single. The promotional cycle for “Dirt Road” was the moment the Willacoochee, Georgia singer realized that there was a community of people that were tuning into what he had to say and offer as an artist beyond covers. “I previewed ‘Dirt Road’ because I put ‘Ballin’ up and that one went viral… I was so scared of that virality leaving that I just kept pumping out stuff,” he said. “I was finding a beat, recording it, shooting a video, and posting it all on the same day.” Once he posted the snippet and saw people liking and commenting on the video, that “confirmed for [him] that they weren’t just here for the covers… they actually wanted to hear [his] music too.”

Just as Tanner displays on her TikTok, for RVSHVD, representation is a driving force behind the way he uses TikTok to advance his career and grow his fanbase. “I remember I was at FarmJam,” he reflected. “This lady came up with her son, and he was super shy and this was a little Black boy. She said that when I got on stage, her song was like ‘Oh, he looks like me!’ I was like, man, that’s dope.”

As it stands, 2023 is off to a relatively slow start for Black artists in country music’s mainstream, but the seeds are there. This month, Kane Brown scored his ninth Country Airplay chart-topper with “Thank God,” a duet with his wife, and a quick glance at the Spotify-curated Fresh Finds Country playlist reveals placements for Black artists such as Rodell Duff, Reyna Roberts, Shannon, and Mike Parker. Slowly but surely, young Black country artists are reclaiming the genre’s Black roots through a sharp understanding of how to use TikTok to grow loyal fan communities. This progress keeps RVSHVD hopeful about where the genre is headed, “Now that country music is including more influences and more sounds, it’s attracting more people and building a new generation,” he said.
