Tommy The Clown Receives His Flowers After Pulling Up To Kendrick Lamar’s “Pop Out” Concert

Tommy The Clown is someone who is a legend in Los Angeles. Overall, he has been a positive influence on the youth of the city. In the 90s, the dancer became known for performing at parties. He subsequently founded the dance style “clowning” and even jumpstarted the “hip-hop clowns” movement. To this day, Tommy The Clown has his very own academy where he teaches the youth how to dance. He hosts Battle Zone events where competing dance crews get to battle one another. It’s been a staple in the city, and on Wednesday night, the man got his flowers.

It all started when Tommy The Clown came out on stage during Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out” show. He came out with two competing dance crews and it was a whole lot of fun. Unfortunately, there were some people on social media who were disrespectful to the Los Angeles legend. Some were saying “who’s this” while others acted with disinterest and mockery. However, there were a lot more people paying homage to Tommy The Clown and his impact on culture.

“Knowing Tommy the Clown is still alive, well, and crunking with the youth just did sumn to me,” one person wrote. “Kendrick on the same stage with Tommy The Clown is one of the most iconic moments in West Coast history. I know it ain’t just me…that shhh hit different,” said another. The tributes did not stop there, with one Twitter user saying “I hope Tommy The Clown is constantly rewarded for his work with the youth. Watching the kids dance their hearts out got me emotional. So many kids need productive outlets across America in 2024.”

Given that yesterday (June 19) was Juneteenth, it was a relatively slow news day in the music world. That is, except for one thing: Last night, Kendrick Lamar hosted The Pop Out — Ken & Friends, a special concert event that wasn’t about the Drake feud, but was also totally about the Drake feud. A number of Lamar’s Drake diss tracks made the setlist, most notably “Not Like Us,” which was performed five times in a row to end the show.

Folks online took notice: Drake became the No. 1 trending topic on X (formerly Twitter) and still is as of this post on Thursday morning.

A lot of the reactions were people imagining Drake’s reaction to the show, particularly to the repetition of “Not Like Us,” with tweets comedically imagining Drake feeling anger, frustration, or sadness.

Others just admired the whole situation. As one user put it, “17,000+ people gathered together in one place to call Drake a pedophile with Kendrick Lamar. This level of hate will never be duplicated.” Another noted, “Not Like Us to Drake is how Back To Back was for Meek [crying laughing emoji] Kendrick preformed the song 4 times and the entire arena rapped it word for word all 4 times.”

DJ Akademiks has been firmly on the side of Drake during the feud with Kendrick Lamar. Overall, we have seen that time and time against with some of Ak’s comments. Furthermore, during last night’s “Pop Out” show, Ak was coming through with some truly biased tweets. It was pretty sad to watch go down, as you could see the narrative spin in real-time. Having said that, it was Akademiks’s stream that brought forth some truly hilarious gems.

Throughout the evening, Akademiks appeared to be in absolute disbelief at what he was seeing. Firstly, he was truly shocked by the fact that Tyler, The Creator was on stage. However, his disbelief grew larger as Kendrick opened his show with “Euphoria.” Subsequently, Kendrick changed up some lyrics in the song to take even more shots at Drake. Akademiks could not believe it and couldn’t help but put his hands in his head.

The reactions truly ramped up as Kendrick started to perform “Not Like Us.” Akademiks seemed to be on the verge of tears. Moreover, once he saw Russell Westbrook and DeMar DeRozan on stage, he knew it was a wrap. Perhaps the funniest part of all of this is the fact that Akademiks was still vibing to the music. Overall, it just goes to show that “Not Like Us” is a truly undeniable track. Even Kendrick’s biggest haters can’t even pretend to hate that song.

Overall, “The Pop Out” was a celebration of the West Coast and the artists who are currently moving the culture forward. Drake Could Be Plotting Revenge Against Kendrick Lamar Despite Nonchalant “Summer League” Post

Drake is easily one of the biggest artists in the entire world, however, his beef with Kendrick Lamar has shown that the mystique can wear off. Overall, fans believe Drake lost, and badly too. Moreover, with Kendrick hosting “The Pop Out” last night, there is no doubt that things were not good for the Toronto artists on Wednesday. The song “Not Like Us” was played five times in a row. Moreover, Whitney Alford was in attendance at the show, which dispelled some of the narratives in Drizzy’s diss tracks.

Following the show, some were wondering how Drake may respond. After all, we do know that he likes to lurk the internet to see what people are saying. Well, OVO Mark posted a photo of the OVO crew with Drake, and in this image, the superstar is wearing a shirt that says “Revenge.” Of course, this is an Ian Connor brand, although the word itself is what fans are zeroing in on. Now, some believe a song, music video, or even some kind of diss is in the works.

Despite this, on Drake’s social media, he seemed to be chilling. We say this because of his Instagram story in which he simply wrote “Summer League.” It’s unclear what Drake even meant by this, although we’re sure we will find out soon. If there is one thing for certain, it is that “The Pop Out” reinvigorated everyone’s thoughts and feelings towards the feud. For now, that does not benefit Kendrick in any way.

Dr. Dre Teed Up ‘Not Like Us’ For Kendrick Lamar, And He Disrespected Drake By Performing It Five Times In A Row At ‘The Pop Out’

It was already a consensus opinion that Kendrick Lamar obliterated Drake when they exchanged diss tracks this spring. But just in case there were any doubt, Lamar delivered an epic knockout punch during his set at his The Pop Out — Ken & Friends Juneteenth concert at Los Angeles’ Kia Forum on Wednesday, June 19. First, Lamar opened his set by performing “Euphoria” live for the first time — adding a Tupac-related bar, to boot — but that paled in comparison to Lamar’s grand finale.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning Compton rapper welcomed Dr. Dre to the stage. They performed “Still D.R.E.” and “California Love,” and that seemed to be that before Lamar stopped him from walking off the stage. “You ain’t gonna say nothin’ else before we continue to party?” Lamar asked. Dre said, “Psst, I see dead people,” thus beginning a relentless medley of Lamar performing “Not Like Us” five times in a row.

Eventually, Lamar was joined on stage by the guest performers from the night — plus DeMar DeRozan and Russell Westbrook — and they all metaphorically danced on Drake’s grave. Still, Lamar paused between the fourth and fifth run through “Not Like Us” to emphasize that this Juneteenth concert was meant “for all of us to be together on stage” and display “united at its finest.” Lamar shouted out the late Nipsey Hussle and Kobe Bryant and acknowledged, “We lost a lot of homies to this music sh*t, to this street sh*t.”

Lamar dropped “Not Like Us” in early May, and it became his fourth-career No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Kendrick Lamar Kicked Drake While He Was Down By Starting His ‘The Pop Out’ Show With His ‘Euphoria’ Diss Track

Kendrick Lamar’s The Pop Out — Ken & Friends Juneteenth concert marks his first public appearance since he and Drake exchanged several vicious diss tracks. DJ Hed and Mustard delivered stacked opening sets featuring guest performances from the likes of Westside Boogie, BlueBucksClan, Tommy The Clown, Blxst, Ty Dolla Sign, Dom Kennedy, Steve Lacy, Tyler The Creator, Roddy Ricch, and YG.

Lamar immediately reminded everyone that he is and forever will be the main attraction when he began his set with the live debut of “Euphoria,” one of the aforementioned Drake diss tracks.

Lamar additionally proved that he still disdains Drake by adding a new bar to “Euphoria,” according to various publications like Complex and XXL Magazine. The line is, “Give me Tupac’s ring back, and I might give you a little respect.”

To make matters worse for Drake, the Kia Forum crowd chanted “OV-Hoe” before Lamar took the stage for his set.

Lamar released “Euphoria” on April 30. The six-plus-minute diss track is a total evisceration. “Don’t tell no lies about me, and I won’t tell no truths ’bout you” is a self-explanatory bar, but Lamar’s attacks throughout the song are nuanced — the embodiment of “it’s levels to this,” as explained by Uproxx’s Wongo Okon.
