Is Kendrick Lamar On Taylor Swift’s ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’?

In June 2015, Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with their “Bad Blood” remix during Swift’s 1989 era. Eight-plus years later, the release of Swift’s latest re-recorded album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version), proved there is no bad blood between Lamar and Swift whatsoever.

“Watching @kendricklamar create and record his verses on the Bad Blood remix was one of the most inspiring experiences of my life,” Swift posted this morning (October 27) to announce 1989 (Taylor’s Version) [Deluxe]. “I still look back on this collaboration with so much pride and gratitude, for the ways Kendrick elevated the song and the way he treats everyone around him.”

Swift continued, “Every time the crowds on The Eras Tour would chant his line ‘you forgive, you forget, but you never let it… go!,’ I smiled. The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me. I’m overjoyed to say that the Bad Blood Remix (featuring Kendrick Lamar) is available everywhere on the 1989 Deluxe Edition.”

1989 (Taylor’s Version) does not have any featured artists, only listing “Bad Blood (Taylor’s Version).” Similar to Swift’s 2015 “Bad Blood” remix with Lamar releasing as a single outside of the official 1989 tracklist, “Bad Blood (Remix) (Taylor’s Version)” featuring Kendrick can only be found on 1989 (Taylor’s Version) [Deluxe].

Today (October 27) is another historic day for frequent chart-topper Taylor Swift. The “Slut!” singer has snatched back the masters of her album 1989, thanks to the rerecorded Taylor’s Version. The project features the breakout songs “Welcome To New York,” “Blank Space,” “All You Had To Do Was Stay,” “Shake It Off,” “Wildest Dreams,” and who could forget “Bad Blood?” Each of the songs has been spruced up in the Taylor Version. What about the “Bad Blood” remix featuring Kendrick Lamar?

Due to the legal loophole surrounding Swift’s ownership stake, fans wonder if she had Kendrick re-record his verse. The answer is yes. She confirmed the news in a post shared on Swift’s official X (formerly Twitter) page with a touching note. “The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record ‘Bad Blood’ so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me,” wrote Swift.

During a 2017 interview with Howard Stern, Kendrick discussed what it was like working with Swift, saying, “We both were in Los Angeles, so I came to her studio session. She had the music up, and I started writing and jumped in the booth, and we laid it down. With this particular record, I was just vibing and catching her lyrics. I didn’t want to get into her head too crazy. I just wanted to have my own inspiration and see where it took it… Fortunately, the vibe was right, and it didn’t take too many takes, and we were really locked in on the chemistry, and we really felt what was going on when I was in the booth.”

Taylor Swift Has Already Released A Deluxe Edition Of ‘1989 (Taylor’s Version)’ With A Kendrick Lamar Remix

It’s been seven hours. Time for Taylor Swift to drop a new album.

The pop star released the Taylor’s Version of 1989 at midnight. Before the clock struck 9 a.m. EST, she announced a deluxe edition of the album, featuring a remix of “Bad Blood” with Kendrick Lamar.

She continued, “The reality that Kendrick would go back in and re-record Bad Blood so that I could reclaim and own this work I’m so proud of is surreal and bewildering to me. I’m overjoyed to say that the Bad Blood Remix (featuring Kendrick Lamar) is available everywhere on the 1989 Deluxe Edition.”

The deluxe edition of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) is the same as the “normal” 1989 (Taylor’s Version), including five new vault tracks, just with the “Bad Blood” as the final song. You can listen below.

Case For, Case Against: Is Taylor Swift The Secret Mastermind Behind A Mysterious New Action Movie?

Let’s start at the beginning, for simplicity’s sake…

There is a movie coming out in February 2024 called Argylle. It is from Kingsmen director Matthew Vaughn and has a truly loaded cast, with everyone from Henry Cavill to Bryce Dallas Howard to Sam Rockwell to Bryan Cranston to Samuel L. Jackson to Dua Lipa involved in some way. It also has a really wild premise, with pulse-pounding spy-type action parroting the events of a series of spy novels written by a character in the movie named Elly Conway.

The official description from the studio might help.

Elly Conway, an introverted spy novelist who seldom leaves her home, is drawn into the real world of espionage when the plots of her books get a little too close to the activities of a sinister underground syndicate. When Aiden, a spy, shows up to save her (he says) from being kidnapped or killed (or both), Elly and her beloved cat Alfie are plunged into a covert world where nothing, and no one, is what it seems.

The trailer might help, too. Maybe. Possibly. I think you should watch it anyway because it makes the whole thing feel like a cross between a Jason Statham action movie and the movie Spy, which co-starred Jason Statham as a satirical version of the characters he plays in your normal Jason Statham action movie. I’m actually kind of mad he’s not in this movie now. Maybe there’s a twist we don’t know about yet. Fingers crossed.

Anyway, yes, Dua Lipa whispers the phrase “we’re not so different” into Henry Cavill’s ear in this trailer, so I already love it.

But here’s where things get strange. The Elly Conway character in the movie, who writes the Argylle novels that come to life in the film, is also, allegedly, a real person who writes a real book about a secret agent named Argylle. It’s all very twisted and convoluted and it was explained about as well as one can explain it in a recent examination by Vanity Fair. Here’s the most relevant passage.

The funny thing about all this is that there doesn’t seem to be a “real” Elly Conway, either. There are no photos of Conway on the internet, and her author bio on the Penguin Random House website is suspiciously short: “Elly Conway was born and raised in upstate New York. She wrote her first novel about Agent Argylle while working as a waitress in a late-night diner.” Both X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram contain verified profiles under this name that have a smattering of posts, but there is no way of validating who is actually posting from either account.

All of this, as one might suspect, has led to a slew of suspicion and speculation from the type of people who like to build gigantic conspiracy boards in their homes and connect potential clues together with strings of red yarn. And that, also as one might suspect, has led a not-unsubstantial amount of people to wonder if this mysterious and possibly fake author is actually…

… you guessed it…

… world-famous musician Taylor Swift writing under a pseudonym.

And so, what I have done here is attempt to sort through the potential evidence and various ravings to present you with the case for and case against Taylor Swift being the secret mastermind behind Hollywood’s most mysterious new spy movie. There are some strange corners of the internet out there, folks. Bring a hardhat and flashlight.

CASE FOR

The short version here goes something like this: Ladies and gentlemen, the Swifties are at it again.

The longer version is… uh, more involved and requires a knowledge of Swift/Swiftie history, complete with the thing where Taylor Swift has written under a pseudonym before and how she occasionally drops hints via clue or puzzle and her very devoted fan base pieces them all together with an efficiency that would be the envy of any murder detective. Think of this crew as kind of like Columbo except with yoga pants and a comfy crewneck sweatshirt instead of a trenchcoat.

Thankfully, for me, much of the legwork here was done by Polygon’s Petrana Radulovic, who scoured the Swiftie hangouts to present a list of potential clues and scored them on a scale from 1-10 based on validity. Some of them are as simple as “the cat in this movie is a Scottish Fold and Swift owns two of those and has carried them in a similar backpack” or “Taylor Swift has, on occasion, worn an argyle sweater.”

Some are a little more intense. I recommend clicking through and reading all of these but here are my two favorites.

Birthday stuff:

Conway’s first post was on Swift’s birthday in 2022: This is perhaps the most compelling piece of evidence, because the book and movie were announced a full year and a half prior (in June 2021). No other news surrounding the movie or book was released on Dec. 13, 2022. 9/10

Cat stuff:

Chip the cat (the cat in the movie) made an Instagram post about a big announcement the day before the announcement of the Eras Tour movie: …and it was also the day before the first trailer for Argylle dropped. Considering the cat is owned by the director of the movie, Matthew Vaughn (and his spouse, Claudia Schiffer), that pretty much explains away the coincidence. -1/10

The important things to note here are as follows:

None of this is technically impossible
I think I would honestly watch a movie about the dedicated fans of a pop star solving a murder by piecing together clues on the internet
I did not realize the director of the Kingsmen movies was married to Claudia Schiffer

Really just a lot to process here. Which brings us to…

CASE AGAINST

Three things here, all equally important:

Taylor Swift is a very busy lady, what with her new movie lighting up the box office and her busy schedule of attending Kansas City Chiefs games, and I just don’t know where she would have found the time to write a spy novel
Let’s all take a deep breath here
That Vanity Fair article I linked to way back up in the intro also includes this sentence: “Vanity Fair’s sources confirm that Swift is not, in fact, the author of the book”

So… you know. There’s that.

VERDICT

Taylor Swift is probably not the secret mastermind behind Argylle, a mysterious new spy movie that stars Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa.

Unless…

…

…
… unless that’s exactly what they want you to think.

OJ Simpson Got Horny After Seeing Taylor Swift And Brittany Mahomes Bump “Boulders”

Cam’ron and Ma$e’s unfiltered sports talk show It Is What It Is is seeing some tremendous viewership and for good reason. With so many other programs in this lane being tame and somewhat scripted, the rap legends give it to everyone straight. Because of their recent notoriety, the show has been able to nab some impressive guests. One of which is former NFL legendary running back, OJ Simpson. He has been joining them a lot for the 2023-2024 football campaign Even amidst his extremely troubled past, he has been able to appear quite a bit on the program.

Because of that, his recent comments on the show might be a little more stomach-churning than if someone else said them. On yesterday’s episode, Cam’ron wanted to share his thoughts on the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce relationship. One of the byproducts of that discussion were some fairly skin-crawling comments from OJ. During the game Taylor Swift and Patrick Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, were seen celebrating at Sunday’s game.

The two ladies did this with a chest bump and that got the attention of Simpson. He was totally open about how it made him feel, saying that their “boulders” bumping was a “little turn-on.” Cam and Ma$e laughed, while Treasure Wilson was a little more shocked than anything. Take how you want it, but it was little creepy in a way to hear OJ say this. So far, neither lady nor their partners have commented on it.

Taylor Swift Lands A Smooch On Travis Kelce’s Cheek

Just a few moments ago HNHH got word from Billboard that both Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were together this past Sunday. Of course, it was mostly because Travis and the Chiefs had a game at 4:25 p.m. ET. It was against their division rival the Los Angeles Chargers. They would get the win, making it six in a row, 31-17. 9. Morgan Wallen — “Last Night”

Former No. 1 “Last Night” had a similar journey, rebounding from No. 19 to No. 9 this week.

8. Drake — “First Person Shooter” Feat. J. Cole

Drake didn’t depart the top 10 entirely, as he still has two songs in the region, including “First Person Shooter,” which was J. Cole’s first-ever No. 1 song.

7. Luke Combs — “Fast Car”

Combs never quite reached No. 1, but “Fast Car” has had some impressive longevity, hanging around the top 10 after spending eight weeks at its No. 2 peak.

Since dropping their home opener on the first night of the 2023-2024 NFL season, the home squad picked up their sixth straight win. Taylor was there to witness the red-hot Chiefs’ 31-17 victory with Patrick Mahomes’ wife Brittany Mahomes and his brother Jackson. Similar to what happened after the first game Swift went to, she and Travis were seen walking out of the tunnel hand-in-hand according to Billboard. This is now the fourth time the Swifties got to enjoy a Sunday NFL broadcast.

On the other side of it, the Chiefs fans had plenty to be happy about after a big-time win at Arrowhead. Kansas City now has sole possession of the best record in the AFC at 6-1. He hauled in 12 receptions for 179 yards and a touchdown catch. CBS put up a hilarious graphic of Kelce’s stats when Taylor shows up to a game and when she does not. Ironically, the star tight end averages 42.5 yards less a game when his girl is not in the stands.
