Quavo and Offset Reunite to Tribute Takeoff at the 2023 BET Awards

It’s been a long time coming, but Offset and Quavo are back together, tributing the late Takeoff at the 2023 BET Awards.

The unannounced tribute aired as the show returned from commercial, positioning Quavo and Takeoff on opposite sides of a heavenly spotlight, which took the place of Takeoff. The two supported Takeoff’s verse on “Hotel Lobby” before performing their classic anthem “Bad and Boujee.”

The moment was both important to the legacy of Takeoff but assuming to place a nail in a standing beef between the two Migos members.

BET released footage from backstage as T.I. celebrates the two and echoes a statement that all of Hip-Hop had: “Love to see it.”

You can see that moment and the full performance below.

Last Sunday (June 18) would have been the 29th birthday of Takeoff. Remembering their late group and family member, Offset and Quavo hit Instagram to celebrate rocket man.

“Happy birthday rocket man,” Offset wrote. “The greatest to touch a mic!! best spirit ever!! purest man I know your heart was golden bring me peace bra we celebrate your life because you still right here I love you gang.”

“Happy Birthday @yrntakeoff can’t wait for days like this again!!!” Quavo wrote. “BEST believe we goin up all week the Rocket way GEEKD u 29 nigga.”

Offset And Quavo Reunited At The 2023 BET Awards To Pay Tribute To Fallen Migos Member Takeoff With Spirited Performance Of ‘Bad N Boujee’

Quavo and Offset reunited at the 2023 BET Awards to pay homage to their fallen Migos bandmate Takeover, marking their first performance together since late in 2021. With an image of Takeover behind them alongside a dance team and some impressive pyrotechnics, the two play-cousins teamed up to perform the group’s No. 1 hit “Bad N Boujee.”

While it remains to be seen whether this means they have put all their differences behind them, it is a more positive turn from the Grammys, where Offset was allegedly blocked from performing with Quavo, leading to an apparent altercation backstage. At the time of Takeoff’s death late last year, the trio had been unofficially broken up for some months, with Quavo and Takeoff releasing a duo album without their third member and hinting that the group wouldn’t be getting back together.

Then Takeoff was shot, leading to Migos entering a limbo where both Quavo and Offset released their own individual tributes to Takeoff but seemed to not be communicating with each other. Fans had no clue the status of the band, even as Offset prepped his own solo album, which he’d previously put on hold in the wake of Takeoff’s death. It seems they’ve buried the hatchet — hopefully permanently — and are moving forward out of love for Takeoff. Even Cardi B was in tears:

Quavo’s “Rocket Power” Pop-Up Draws Big Crowds In Paris

Quavo drew a caused quite the commotion in Paris. The rapper’s new “Rocket Power” merchandise line received a massive turnout. It made its official debut on the streets of Paris this week. The official unveiling was part of Paris Fashion Week. Quavo did it big, with the TakeOff-inspired collection appearing in its own shop on Rue Notre-Dame de Nazareth. Hundreds of fans showed up to support the line. Of course, they also wanted to catch a glimpse of the former Migos rapper. Quavo shared some of the highlights on his Instagram. In his post, the rapper captioned the photos with “REAL Rocket Power.” Furthermore, he expressed his gratitude for the fans’ support. He also hinted at future pop-ups in different cities, asking his followers, “What city next?”

Just a few days prior, Quavo and Offset reunited at a candlelight vigil. It took place to honor their late group mate, Takeoff. June 18 would have been the rapper’s 29th birthday. Photos emerged showing the pair engaged in conversation at the memorial. This suggests that there may have been a potential reconciliation between them. This public appearance marked their first time together since the Migos’ split in 2022.

Are Quavo And Offset Putting Their Beef Behind Them?

Earlier this year, reports surfaced about a physical altercation between Offset and Quavo backstage at the 2023 Grammy Awards. According to TMZ, tensions rose when Offset was asked by the Recording Academy to join Quavo on stage. The pair were supposed to unite for a tribute to TakeOff. However, Quavo apparently refused to allow Offset to participate. Still, the rapper has denied that any physical altercation took place. There was still some sort of drama, though.

No video evidence of the alleged fight between Quavo and Offset was released. However, Entertainment Tonight obtained a clip showing Cardi B yelling at multiple people backstage. Cardi expressed her disapproval to both Offset and Quavo. “Both of y’all wrong! Both of y’all!” she said, chastising them. “This is not right!” She later dismissed reporters’ questions about the incident. During the Grammy Awards, Quavo paid tribute to his late nephew and groupmate by performing “Without You” alongside the Maverick City Music choir during the In Memoriam segment.

Cardi B Snaps On Tasha K: “DON’T EVER PUT TAKEOFF NAME IN YA MOUTH”

Cardi B recently went off on Tasha K, who currently owes her $4 million for a recent defamation lawsuit. Cardi had shared her thoughts on social media about the step-son of one of the missing Titanic submersible passengers attending a Blink-182 concert amid the search. “People was like, ‘Uh what is he supposed to do, be sad at the house? Is he supposed to go look for him himself?‘ Yes. You supposed to be at the house sad,” she wrote, “You supposed to be crying for me, you supposed to be right next to the phone waiting to hear any updates about me.”

The step-son later responded to Cardi, telling her that everyone copes in their own way and to “get some class.” Tasha K also responded, citing Cardi’s own response to the death of MigosTakeoff, who was shot in 2022. “Wasn’t she posting guns right after Takeoff died? And on the internet, cutting up not long after his sudden takeoff? I’m just asking…Everyone grieves diff…” Tasha K wrote.

Cardi B Tells Tasha K She’ll Prevent Her Kids From Going To College

Cardi quickly took to Twitter to clap back. “And Tasha K with your despicable a*s,” she began. “To bring up Takeoff to prove a fake a*s point is disgusting.” She continued, also detailing the grieving process that her and her husband, Migos’ Offset, went through. “I lost weight, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep,” she describes, “me and my man STILL dealing wit that to to this day.”

Cardi B went on, fuming that the YouTuber brought up the late Takeoff. “I’m a rapper, we targeted all the time so of course I have guns for protection. But since you wanna be funny for comments, ima make sure your kid don’t go to college,” she also wrote, “You think my lawyers don’t know you hiding money in Africa? Ima make sure I get every red cent of my 4 mill. DONT EVER PUT TAKEOFF NAME IN YA MOUTH.”

Cardi B Told Tasha K, Who Already Owes Cardi $4 Million For Defamation, To Keep Takeoff’s Name Out Of Her Mouth

The beef between Cardi B and Tasha K was settled. Literally. In court.

Cardi B filed and won a libel lawsuit against the YouTube personality for posting videos online in 2018 and 2019 alleging Cardi had worked as a prostitute and contracted STDs. In early 2022, Cardi testified that Tasha’s videos left her feeling suicidal. It was ruled in April 2022 that Tasha K must delete her posts in question, and by that October, a judge additionally ruled that Tasha K pay Cardi B $4 million for defamation (as reported by Billboard at the time).

On Wednesday, June 21, Tasha K poked the bear by seemingly weighing in on Cardi B’s reaction to the ongoing mystery around the missing Titanic submersible. (Cardi took issue with the son of a missing passenger, Brian Szasz, attending a Blink-182 concert, sparking a back-and-forth with him this week.)

The Neighborhood Talk captured Cardi and Szasz’s exchange on Instagram, and Tasha K commented, “Wasn’t she posting guns right after Takeoff died? And on the internet, cutting up not long after his sudden takeoff? I’m just asking…Everyone grieves diff…”

Cardi B understandably did not take kindly to Tasha K mentioning Takeoff, who was fatally shot on November 1, 2022.

“And Tasha K with your despicable ass.. to bring up Takeoff to prove a fake ass point is disgusting. I lost weight, I couldn’t eat, I couldn’t sleep, me and my man STILL dealing wit that to to this day,” Cardi B tweeted, referencing her husband, Offset, Takeoff’s former Migos groupmate.

Cardi continued, “I’m a rapper, we targeted all the time so of course I have guns for protection. But since you wanna be funny for comments, ima make sure your kid don’t go to college. You think my lawyers don’t know you hiding money in Africa? Ima make sure I get every red cent of my 4 mill. DONT EVER PUT TAKEOFF NAME IN YA MOUTH.”

Cardi also commented on The Neighborhood Talk’s Instagram post about her tweet, clarifying, “Y’all saying I’m talking about people kids.. I’m talkin about how her mouth is going to affect financials for YEARS all because she can’t stop talking but I’m wrong for saying that but it’s cool for her to bring up my family we lost less than a year ago? Yall saw me waving a gun after take passed or literally months later on put it on the floor music video? But let me guess I’m wrong as always.”

Billboard reported on May 30 that Tasha K had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Florida federal court, listing $58,595 in total assets.

Offset And Quavo Recognized What Should Have Been Takeoff’s 29th Birthday With Loving Tributes

Takeoff was taken far too soon. The beloved Atlanta rapper was fatally shot in the early hours of November 1, 2022, losing his life at 28 years old. The first birthday after someone’s death is always the starkest reminder of what was lost, and Takeoff would have — should have — celebrated his 29th birthday on Sunday, June 18.

Quavo and Offset, Takeoff’s former Migos groupmates, didn’t let the day go by unnoticed.

“Happy Birthday @yrntakeoff can’t wait for days like this again!!! BEST believe we goin up all week the Rocket way GEEKD,” Quavo captioned a throwback Instagram video alongside several rocket emojis. “u 29 n****.”

Quavo added on Twitter, “Everyone Wish My Nephew Happy Birthday [birthday cake emoji, infinity sign emoji, rocket emoji]. Miss You So Much!”

Offset also posted a nine-photo Instagram carousel with the caption, “Happy birthday rocket man [rocket emoji] the greatest to touch the mic!! best spirit ever!! purest man I know your heart was golden bring me peace bra we celebrate your life because you still right here I love you gang [four rocket emojis].”

Last month, Offset graced the cover of Variety and struggled to open up about grieving Takeoff.

“It’s hard for me to talk about sh*t right now,” he told the publication, in part. “I’ve never talked about this stuff. Seriously. Talking about Take is hard, man. Talking about all this sh*t is hard. That’s why I don’t, to be honest. That sh*t hurts. Like, it’s gonna put me in a mood, and I don’t want to get in that mood. Some things I don’t never tell nobody. He’s not here. That sh*t feels fake, bro. I get through my day thinking it’s fake. And I don’t say nothing to nobody about it.”

Takeoff was murdered outside of 810 Billiards & Bowling in Houston while attending a private event with Quavo. On December 1, 33-year-old Patrick Xavier Clark was arrested for allegedly shooting Takeoff. Clark was formally charged with murder after a Texas grand jury indicted him on May 25, as reported by TMZ.

Quavo & Offset Link Up At Takeoff’s Posthumous Birthday Celebration

Seeing as he’s brought five beautiful children into the world, Father’s Day is obviously a special one for Offset – Cardi B makes sure of that. However, this year, the holiday coincides with what would’ve been Takeoff’s 29th birthday, which he’s no longer here to celebrate. All day (June 18) long, we’ve seen Instagram light up with heartfelt tributes to the late Migos rapper. Elsewhere, several of his closest friends and family members gathered together for a beautiful celebration in Take’s honour.

As photos begin to surface online, hip-hop heads are happy to see that Quavo and Offset were photographed chatting. In their usual form, both lyricists kept their sunglasses on and had plenty of chains around their necks. A smiling portrait of Takeoff appears on both of their shirts. While neither artist looks cheerful in the photo, simply knowing that they’re able to be in the same space after their past beef is encouraging.

Apart from keeping the fallen star’s spirit alive, his friends also sent lanterns with messages for Takeoff into the sky. “To those whose flame has been extinguished, let this light represent our love and compassion,” one of them reads. “We will never forget you.” From what the “Can’t Go Out Sad” artists have said, a Migos reunion without Take in the picture is unlikely. Still, we hold out hope that we’ll see the remaining two lyricists rebuild the brotherly bond they had before things turned south between them.

Since Takeoff’s tragic death last year, both Quavo and Offset have been more focused on their music careers than ever before. The former revealed a few weeks back that his next LP will be called Rocket Power, and that it’s a tribute to his late nephew. Offset Remembers Takeoff On What Would’ve Been His 29th Birthday

The hip-hop world still mourns the loss of Migos rapper Takeoff, but the preservation of his legacy, impact, and memory rings deep on this special day. Early on Sunday (June 18), his groupmate Offset posted a series of pictures of and with the late MC on Instagram for what would’ve been his 29th birthday. Moreover, this follows a sea of tributes and celebrations of his life and work online, whether from fans or industry figures alike. What’s more is that these remarks don’t depend on it being a particular day, as he is always fondly remembered and honored. For example, ‘Set’s wife Cardi B labeled him an “angel” in a recent social media post.

Furthermore, Offset’s words focus on who Kirsnick Khari Ball is not just as an artist, but as a person. “Happy birthday rocket man,” he wrote on his commemorative post. “the greatest to touch a mic!! best spirit ever!! purest man I know your heart was golden bring me peace bra we celebrate your life because you still right here I love you gang.” This follows Quavo’s message to his nephew on Instagram.

Offset Celebrates Takeoff’s Birthday

“Happy Birthday @yrntakeoff can’t wait for days like this again!!!” he captioned a video of the two rummaging through clothing. “BEST believe we goin up all week the Rocket way GEEKD u 29 n***a.” While Migos will never be the same due to Takeoff’s passing and their own prior internal struggles, fans took the time to honor the late legend and share their condolences to both surviving members. It hasn’t been easy for fans to see that things aren’t how they used to be, but despite their continued problems, fans keep putting Take’s legacy above all else.

Meanwhile, on the legal side of things, authorities formally indicted Patrick Xavier Clark, a suspect in Takeoff’s murder. This move brings his loved ones and family one step closer to at least getting some justice for his tragic loss. Since then, no further details have emerged surrounding the case, but the world watches as some closure could finally come after months of mourning. For the latest news and updates on the Migos, keep checking in with HNHH.
Rest In Peace Takeoff.
