Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show Brought In More Viewers Than The Super Bowl Itself

Rihanna’s halftime show at Super Bowl LVII between the Philadelphia Eagles and the victorious Kansas City Chiefs was already a massive draw, even with the two teams having incredibly eager fan bases. As she took the suspended stage over Arizona’s State Farm Arena, Rihanna used just minutes to announce her second pregnancy and perform her biggest hits, including “Umbrella,” “Diamonds,” and the powerful opener, “B*tch Better Have My Money.”

According to Fox Sports (via Bleacher Report), Rihanna’s halftime show drew in 118.7 million viewers, while the Super Bowl game itself only got 113 million. And, as someone who switched the channel after her performance ended, it seems I wasn’t alone.

She also reportedly had the second most-watched halftime show in the Super Bowl’s history, trailing right behind Katy Perry (remember left shark?) at 121 million in viewership numbers.

Before her performance, Rihanna sat down for a press conference and noted that she had changed her setlist over 30 times. “You’re trying to cram seventeen years of work into thirteen minutes so it’s difficult,” she said.

“Some songs we have to lose because of that, and that’s going to be okay,” Rihanna added. “We did a pretty good job at narrowing it down. There’s probably been about 39 versions of the setlist right now. We’re on our 39th. Every little change counts.”

Cardi B’s Curves Looked Phenomenal In All Her Super Bowl Weekend Fits

Rapping is obviously what she does for a living, but as she’s risen to the top of the industry, Cardi B has also made a name for herself as a fashionista. Over the years we’ve seen the mother of two sitting front row at various fashion week events around the world. Additionally, she’s stepped out in dramatic designer style for the Met Gala on more than one occasion.

In theory, the focus of Super Bowl weekend should be football. Instead, many of those who flew to Glendale, Arizona to watch the game were actually there to take in Rihanna’s triumphant return to the stage. Adele and H.E.R. both spoke candidly about their excitement for the singer’s Halftime show. Elsewhere, social media hasn’t been able to stop raving about it since.

Cardi B was undeniably eager to see the Bad Gal do her thing. As it turns out, she nearly missed the concert. In a video posted to her Instagram Story, the “Hot Shit” hitmaker awkwardly runs through a parking lot wearing sky-high heels. As she desperately tries to not miss out on the main event, her husband, Offset, slowly jogged beside her. Due to their hilarious antics, the couple was heavily clowned on social media.

As the trolls continue to poke fun, the New Yorker remains unbothered. On Monday (February 13) she dropped off a photo dump of her Super Bowl outfit. Of course, she flaunts the platform shoes that famously slowed her down. “Excuse me… Can I sit on top of you?” she wrote in the caption of her post, earning her over two million double taps.

Besides her bright pink heels, Cardi also donned a pair of tight, dark blue jeans and a navy Chanel sweater. She carried her essentials in a quilted pink bag to match her shoes. Things were tied together with a sleek pair of sunglasses shading her eyes. Instead of her usual long black hair, the Hustlers actress switched things up with a blonde curly ‘do.

Later on in the post, the 30-year-old showed off another of her Super Bowl outfits. This one also saw her looking pretty in pink, sporting a curve-hugging Chanel mini-dress. Accessories include a small purse in the same colour and a silver sparkly Vivienne Westwood dogbone necklace. Additionally, her dark hair made a return for the iconic fashion moment. She certainly didn’t hesitate to flaunt her endless inches while strutting down the hotel hallway.

Elsewhere in Arizona, Cardi B performed at the same venue as Drake on Friday night. When Saturday rolled around, she recruited Offset to join her as they prepared the audience for Sunday’s events. Check out photos from the couple’s concert below, let us know which of the rap starlet’s favourite looks was in the comments.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ Coach Didn’t Let Players Watch Rihanna’s Halftime Performance

Sure, it’s a lot of pressure to play in the Super Bowl, but imagine doing so in front of Rihanna. The players were obviously excited to have her on the field, so much so that Brandon Marshall pranked Patrick Mahomes into thinking the “Umbrella” singer called him the greatest quarterback ever. “Whatever Rihanna says is like the gospels,” Mahomes replied earnestly. “So I’m glad that she went with me for that honor.”

Unfortunately, Mahomes explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that the Chiefs players weren’t allowed by their coach to watch Rihanna’s halftime performance. “Coach Reid told us, he said, ‘If you go out to watch the performance, just keep walking because you’re not playing the rest of the game,’” he said.

That’s a shame considering how hard Rihanna worked on her iconic performance. In an interview with Apple Music, she revealed that she changed the setlist a whopping 39 times while picking which of her hits to cram into 13 minutes.

She also explained why it was so important to her: “The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was because I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. It’s important for me to do this year. It’s important for representation. It’s important for my son to see that.”

Rihanna Backup Dancer Almost Falls Off Floating Platform: Watch

The 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance brought Rihanna to the screen after a long hiatus, and the show was one for the books! Using platforms that hung high above the ground, RiRi and her entourage of dancers performed her greatest hits over the last two decades. The Barbadian singer and her dancers made a dramatic entrance to “Bitch Better Have My Money,” and continued to put on a remarkable show. The set was red, the choreography was hot, and Rihanna even showed off her baby bump. But, a minor mishap happened during the show that could of resulted in absolute madness.

One of Rihanna’s backup dancers was performing the choreography to “All Of The Lights” in the air. Dancing on one of the floating stages, this performer found themselves in a slippery situation. They had tripped during the number, resulting in almost falling catastrophically off of the platform. The performer quickly recuperated from the accident and the show went on. However, fans quickly recognized this scary instance, and a video of the slip-up circulated on social media.

A Scary Fall For Riri’s Backup Dancer

Luckily, the backup dancers were strapped to cables while on the platform. Rihanna was also safeguarded to prevent any accidents, which is especially good news given that she was carrying her second baby with rapper A$AP Rocky. Overall, the 13-minute performance was a major win for RiRi, who hasn’t had a concert since 2018.

Needless to say, Rihanna’s halftime performance gave the internet a lot to talk about. Between the incredible line-up of songs, the pregnancy reveal, and Rihanna’s stunning all-red fit, the show was a hit. RiRi even stirred up controversy with her iconic crotch grab. But, the biggest discussion about the show was the all-white outfits of the backup dancers. Dressed in Fenty puffers and baggy pants, each dancer was fitted with sunglasses and hoods. The internet has sparked up many jokes about the ambiguous and puffy fits, and the results are hilarious. Whether they were inspired by the Michelin Man or by overstuffed pillowcases remains a mystery, but one thing is for certain: Rihanna rocked the show!

Patrick Mahomes Reveals How He Was Banned From Rihanna’s Halftime Show

Patrick Mahomes was fantastic in the Super Bowl just two days ago. Overall, the Kansas City Chiefs ended up winning the game after coming back from a 10-point halftime deficit. It was not an easy win, although it was definitely deserved. Mahomes threw for three touchdowns throughout the game. While he may have only thrown for 182 yards, he was incredibly efficient, and fans were singing his praises. At this point, it is hard not to consider him one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL.

Following the game, Mahomes got to go to Disneyland with his entire family. At the end of the day, it was a huge celebration for everything he has accomplished this year. No one expected the Chiefs to win it all this year, however, they defied the odds and made it happen. Now, Mahomes will get to enjoy the offseason as the Chiefs attempt to improve their roster for a run next year. If you are a fan of the franchise, you can’t help but be immensely excited about the future.

Patrick Mahomes Speaks

While speaking with Jimmy Kimmel on Monday night, Mahomes made some interesting revelations about the Super Bowl. For instance, he and his teammates were not allowed to watch the halftime performance by Rihanna. As Mahomes explained, the ban came from his own head coach, Andy Reid. “Coach Reid told us, he said, ‘If you go out to watch the performance, just keep walking because you’re not playing the rest of the game,’” Mahomes explained. Needless to say, Reid wanted to keep everyone focused as the team had a comeback effort to construct. In the end, his tactics worked as the team went out and won it all.

As for the halftime show, we’re sure Mahomes and everyone else on the Chiefs will go and watch it on YouTube at some point. After all, you can pretty well find everything over there. Moreover, winning the Super Bowl is a nice consolation prize for not seeing the performance live. Let us know what you thought of Rihanna’s halftime show, down in the comments section below.

TV Producer Jesse Collins Believes Rihanna’s Super Bowl ‘Vision Was Executed’

Rihanna's Full Super Bowl Halftime Performance | The Source

Rihanna dazzled in the Super Bowl 57 halftime show. The show was aided by famed TV producer Jesse Collins, who revealed the two felt pressure to follow up the Hip-Hop show of the year before featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and more.

“She’s a lot of fun, very cool, never stressed. Just like, ‘All right, I’m going to go do this real quick.’ The pressure never got to her. She just was in it from day one, and really warm and let everybody have fun with it,” Collins said to The Hollywood Reporter.

He added, “I think there’s always pressure with this show. You work so hard, six months for 13 minutes. [This was] an opportunity to work with a global superstar and her re-entry into music.”

Ultimately, Collins felt Rihann’s “vision was executed.”

By now, you know that Rihanna is pregnant. Making her performance at the Super Bowl halftime show even more epic.

Rihanna opened the show in a red jumpsuit, diving into a performance of “Bitch Better Have My Money” on a levitating stage, with her baby bump poking through. After the intro, Rihanna dived through a range of hits, including “Only Girl (in the World),” “We Found Love,” “S&M,” “Rude Boy,” and “Work.”

Being the businesswoman she is, Rihanna paused to adjust her FENTY makeup. Then would close with “Diamonds” and “Umbrella” as the fireworks exploded across the Arizona sky.

Drake’s ‘Psychotic’ And ‘Illogical’ Super Bowl LVII Bet Actually Paid Off In The Sum Of $1.4 Million

Apparently, the ‘Drake curse’ only works on people not named Drake. If there’s one thing the “Rich Flex” rapper loves more than his music, sports would be a close second. Whether he is filming a hilarious to congratulate his longtime friend LeBron James for breaking the NBA’s all-time scoring record or being clowned on for his skills by his hometown’s star player — nowadays, sports and Drake go hand in hand.

From time to time, his love for sports significantly pays off. After placing nearly $1 million in bets on Super Bowl LVII, he has earned big. Before the game, the performer to Instagram to share screen grabs of his bets with the caption, “My psychotic bets for Sunday are in @stake. Pls, do not analyze the logic behind these bets. There is none.”

Thanks to the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory, the Toronto native is cashing in over $1 million in earnings. Placing a $700,000 bet on the Chiefs to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles resulted in an estimated payout of $1.4 million. However, his bet that Chief’s quarterback Patrick Mahomes and wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to score the first touchdown didn’t happen. The other losing Super Bowl LVII bets from Drake included the Chiefs would win each half, predicting the Chiefs would win each quarter, and for Travis Kelce and a tight end to win the Super Bowl MVP.

Drake could’ve taken home over $4.5 million, but his estimated winning total is just under $1.5 million for selecting the correct victors.
