Super Bowl LVII was a smash hit– with the Kansas City Chiefs holding a tight victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. The game was broadcast on Fox and aired on additional digital platforms. The program averaged 113 million viewers, according to early Nielsen data. That makes this game the most-watched Super Bowl since 2017’s Patriots vs. Falcons match, which was also telecast on Fox. Additionally, the audience views skyrocketed to 118.7 million viewers at the time of Rihanna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. Super Bowl LVII took place at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Kickoff began just after 6:30 p.m ET/3:30 p.m. PT. The audience for the 2023 game is a relatively small rise from the 112.3 million viewers that watched 2022’s match between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals. Last year, audiences tuned in to NBC for the game, so Fox gets bragging rights for significantly beating its own viewership results from the last time airing the program in 2019. That game, Super Bowl LIV, took place in Miami and brought in 102 million viewers.
When it comes to digital statistics, Fox says that Super Bowl LVII had about 7 million streams. That makes it the most-streamed Super Bowl in history. That’s an 18% increase from last year’s super bowl, and a 103% increase from the last time Fox took the reigns in 2020. That year held 3.4 million streams. Fox Deportes aired the Spanish-language version of the Super Bowl. They set a record for the most-watched Super Bowl game in Spanish-language cable television history. 951,000 people watched, which is a 25% increase from Fox Deportes’ views from 2020. This year’s Super Bowl was also the most-watched non-soccer event to be viewed in Spanish-language cable history.
The NFL had an impressive set of ratings this season, so critics anticipated the impressive Super Bowl LVII numbers. The regular season that led up to the game held record-breaking numbers across Fox, NBC, and CBS. Last month, there were strong ratings for the NFC and ACF championship games. The telecast of the Chiefs vs. Bengals game was the most-watched NFL conference championship game in four years. Ratings were 11% higher than last year’s AFC title game, making it the most-watched TV Program on any network since Super Bowl LVI. This, of course, is no longer true. JuJu Smith-Schuster’s career in the NFL was falling on hard times just a year or two ago. After a public beef with Antonio Brown, it felt like JuJu couldn’t do anything right. His statistics were going down the drain in Pittsburgh, and he needed a way to rejuvenate his career. Consequently, he decided to go and sign a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs. Overall, playing with Patrick Mahomes is a great plan if you want the league to see you as an elite receiver again.
While he was by no means the number one option, JuJu had a fairly good year with the Chiefs. In fact, on Sunday, Smith-Schuster was able to cap off the year with a Super Bowl victory. Moreover, he was a big reason for the win as he drew the holding call on James Bradberry which eventually led to the Chiefs’ game-winning field goal. Despite having some nice catches throughout his game, it was this call that turned out to be his biggest contribution.

In the tweet above, JuJu decided to troll Bradberry with a Valentine’s Day card that reads “I’ll hold you when it matters most.” Immediately, fans and NFL stars found this to be incredibly corny. In fact, AJ Brown of the Eagles was not happy with JuJu and responded accordingly. “First off congratulations. Y’all deserve it. This is lame. You was on the way out the league before Mahomes resurrected your career on your 1-year deal Tik-Tok boy,” Brown said. “He admitted that he grabbed you but don’t act like your like that or ever was. But congratulations again!” Smith-Schuster offered a response of his own, saying “Glad you were finally able to get all that off your chest after all these years. Good game bro.”
Considering all that has happened over the past few years, maybe JuJu doesn’t need to be trolling like this. After winning a title, it is just a bad look and lacks professionalism. The Super Bowl weekend had artists like Lil Baby, Drake, and Lil Durk hosting and performing events across Arizona. Each year, the Super Bowl helps boost the local economy in the city that hosts the game. Not only through the anticipation for the biggest night in America but also, through the amount of celebrity presence. Promoters pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to secure artists for walkthroughs, performances and hosting. Ultimately, there was no shortage of excitement ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles match-up. Plenty of our favorite artists showed out for a good time and provided fans with unforgettable experiences.
Drake, for instance, recreated his elaborate Apollo Theater set-up for a pre-Super Bowl bash which had everyone from Cardi B to Christina Aguilera in attendance. Future and Lil Durk also had their hostings that brought out massive crowds. Machine Gun Kelly also performed that weekend, though the outcome wasn’t as favorable as some of the other artists. Needless to say, everyone secured a massive bag during the Super Bowl weekend before the big game. Fans undoubtedly saw some great shows, as well. For example, Lil Baby delivered an impromptu set for his fans, despite not receiving payment for the performance.
Concerts and performances are the bread-and-butter for most rappers but Baby values the support of his fans more than a bag. This weekend, the rapper performed at a concert that he wasn’t even scheduled to perform. As he took the stage, Baby put the promoter on blast. “I’m gonna tell y’all straight up. The promoter tricked me. I wasn’t even supposed to be performing but there’s so many of y’all,” he told the audience.
Regardless of how much he potentially lost, his fans received an incredible performance. Baby is fresh off of the release of his latest studio album, It’s Only Me so he delivered a performance with new and old records. According to TMZ, Davis was spotted at the Super Bowl in a wheelchair. As you can see in the clip above, he was being wheeled around the venue as the Chiefs took on the Eagles. However, when approached by cameras, Davis said that it wasn’t a big deal and that he will be fine. That said, there is no telling what this could actually mean for the potential fight against Garcia. If it is an ankle injury that requires a lot of rest, then that April 15th fight date will have to be delayed.

Rihanna’s halftime show at Super Bowl LVII between the Philadelphia Eagles and the victorious Kansas City Chiefs was already a massive draw, even with the two teams having incredibly eager fan bases. As she took the suspended stage over Arizona’s State Farm Arena, Rihanna used just minutes to announce her second pregnancy and perform her biggest hits, including “Umbrella,” “Diamonds,” and the powerful opener, “B*tch Better Have My Money.”
According to Fox Sports (via Bleacher Report), Rihanna’s halftime show drew in 118.7 million viewers, while the Super Bowl game itself only got 113 million. And, as someone who switched the channel after her performance ended, it seems I wasn’t alone.

Before her performance, Rihanna sat down for a press conference and noted that she had changed her setlist over 30 times. “You’re trying to cram seventeen years of work into thirteen minutes so it’s difficult,” she said.
“Some songs we have to lose because of that, and that’s going to be okay,” Rihanna added. “We did a pretty good job at narrowing it down. There’s probably been about 39 versions of the setlist right now. We’re on our 39th. Every little change counts.”

Cardi B was undeniably eager to see the Bad Gal do her thing. As it turns out, she nearly missed the concert. In a video posted to her Instagram Story, the “Hot Shit” hitmaker awkwardly runs through a parking lot wearing sky-high heels. As she desperately tries to not miss out on the main event, her husband, Offset, slowly jogged beside her. Due to their hilarious antics, the couple was heavily clowned on social media.
As the trolls continue to poke fun, the New Yorker remains unbothered. On Monday (February 13) she dropped off a photo dump of her Super Bowl outfit. Of course, she flaunts the platform shoes that famously slowed her down. “Excuse me… Can I sit on top of you?” she wrote in the caption of her post, earning her over two million double taps.
Besides her bright pink heels, Cardi also donned a pair of tight, dark blue jeans and a navy Chanel sweater. She carried her essentials in a quilted pink bag to match her shoes. Things were tied together with a sleek pair of sunglasses shading her eyes. Instead of her usual long black hair, the Hustlers actress switched things up with a blonde curly ‘do.

The number of streams for Rihanna on Apple Music peaked on Sunday. In Shazam’s history, it was also her biggest day.
Following her performance, Rihanna’s concurrent listeners on Apple Music increased by a startling 331% globally. Compared to the performances from the previous year, she had noticeably more listeners concurrently. Regarding concurrent listeners and streaming, Rihanna had her most successful hour on Apple Music following her halftime performance.
Furthermore, her discography quickly dominated international charts. “Umbrella” hit the top of the charts in 105 countries, which is a record for the song. It is also the song that her fans love to sing using Apple Music Sing the most. Additionally, “We Found Love” made it to the top of the songs list in a record-breaking 92 nations globally, and “Work” returned to the charts in more than 50 nations. On Sunday night, Rihanna’s singles topped the charts in 149 nations.

Sure, it’s a lot of pressure to play in the Super Bowl, but imagine doing so in front of Rihanna. The players were obviously excited to have her on the field, so much so that Brandon Marshall pranked Patrick Mahomes into thinking the “Umbrella” singer called him the greatest quarterback ever. “Whatever Rihanna says is like the gospels,” Mahomes replied earnestly. “So I’m glad that she went with me for that honor.”
Unfortunately, Mahomes explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that the Chiefs players weren’t allowed by their coach to watch Rihanna’s halftime performance. “Coach Reid told us, he said, ‘If you go out to watch the performance, just keep walking because you’re not playing the rest of the game,’” he said.
That’s a shame considering how hard Rihanna worked on her iconic performance. In an interview with Apple Music, she revealed that she changed the setlist a whopping 39 times while picking which of her hits to cram into 13 minutes.
She also explained why it was so important to her: “The Super Bowl is one of the biggest stages in the world, so as scary as that was because I haven’t been on stage in seven years, there’s something exhilarating about the challenge of it all. It’s important for me to do this year. It’s important for representation. It’s important for my son to see that.”

The 2023 Super Bowl halftime performance brought Rihanna to the screen after a long hiatus, and the show was one for the books! Using platforms that hung high above the ground, RiRi and her entourage of dancers performed her greatest hits over the last two decades. Luckily, the backup dancers were strapped to cables while on the platform. Rihanna was also safeguarded to prevent any accidents, which is especially good news given that she was carrying her second baby with rapper A$AP Rocky. Overall, the 13-minute performance was a major win for RiRi, who hasn’t had a concert since 2018.
