Travis Kelce References Taylor Swift Lyric Change During Super Bowl Press Conference

Travis Kelce made reference to Taylor Swift’s Argentina concert lyric change when asked to “finish the lyric” at a Super Bowl press conference. When asked by a reporter to finish the lyric “Karma is the guy on the…”, Kelce said “Chiefs”. While some outlets reported this moment as Kelce getting the lyric wrong, he was actually making reference to the intentional change Swift made to the lyrics of the song for a concert last year.

Of course, Kelce was hit with a lot of questions about Swift, whose presence at the Super Bowl is in question due to her current tour schedule. Swift is performing in Tokyo until February 10, one day before the Super Bowl in Vegas. Swift and Kelce have been publicly together since Week 3 of the NFL season. However, Swift revealed during her TIME Person of the Year interview that they had been dating for at least a month before their first public outing.

Brock Purdy Asked About Lee Harvey Oswald Resemblance

However, Kelce isn’t the only person getting non-football questions ahead of the Super Bowl. Brock Purdy addressed a meme circulating on social media that he looks like JFK assassin Lee Harvey Oswald. When he was asked about the comparison, Purdy was not thrilled by it. The QB politely dismissed it during a media session ahead of the Super Bowl before moving on. The meme had gone viral throughout the week after someone announced that they had “finally figured out” who Brock Purdy reminded them of. While there is some similarity, it’s fairly fleeting. Furthermore, it’s not as apparent as, say, Ted Cruz’s resemblance to the Zodiac Killer.

However, given the expanded media access that comes with the Super Bowl every year, weird questions are now par for the course. Last year, Eagles coach Nick Sirianni which players he wouldn’t let his daughter date. Sirianni’s answer was that his daughter was four years old. While weird questions are now seen as part of the run-up, it never fails to annoy people. To many fans, and journalists, it points to too lax of a credentialing policy. Furthermore, there is now a trend of people trying too hard to go viral as the “weird question asker”.

Jack Harlow Serves As Ben Affleck’s ‘Voice Of Reason’ In Their Dunkin’ Super Bowl Commercial Teaser

Super Bowl LVIII is this Sunday (February 11). You will have to tune into the big game to catch Usher’s highly-anticipated halftime performance. But as far as advertisers are concerned, they have no problem spoiling their forthcoming commercials. So far, the public has been treated to Ice Spice’s upcoming cameo. Yesterday (February 8), Dunkin previewed their ad slot starring “Lovin’ On Me” rapper Jack Harlow and Ben Affleck.

In the teaser, Affleck, a longtime Dunkin’ lover, battles with his late-night craves. As Affleck and Harlow sit in their car in what appears to be a Dunkin’ parking lot, the two verbally spar about right and wrong. The actor needs to be pulled in from the temptations. Unfortunately, Harlow isn’t there to be the “voice of reason,” at least not in what Affleck needs. Instead, Harlow pushes Affleck closer to his Dunkin’ fix. You will have to tune into the Super Bowl to see how the dilemma ends for Affleck.

This isn’t Affleck’s first time appearing in a Dunkin’ campaign. The Air actor also made a cameo in Ice Spice’s commercial for her limited signature drink, his wife, and singer Jennifer Lopez’s drive-thru segment with the company.

Usher Cites Rihanna’s Beloved Super Bowl Halftime Show As An ‘Inspiration’ For His Own (Minus The Pregnancy Reveal, Probably)

One thing we won’t know about Usher’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance this weekend until it actually happens is what it will look like. Before then, though, Usher at least offered a bit of insight into the thought process behind his show.

In a recent Entertainment Weekly interview, Usher said:

“Rihanna’s was fire because of the choreography and the way they did something that felt like a concert. It actually was a great deal of inspiration [for] how I began to think of my show. If you ever came to my residency, it was all about being immersed — being immersed in an experience that is all of these things that wouldn’t necessarily go together.”

This presumably doesn’t mean Usher will reveal he’s pregnant, like Rihanna did during her 2023 performance.

He also noted that his performance will be 15 minutes long instead of the usual 13, saying, “I can’t explain why, but it’s a funny thing that I was able to do and craft. That was a huge strategic thing that happened between me and my agency.”

Usher also noted, “I would hope that people would feel excited — whether they knew my music or they just got to meet me for the first time — and that I’m all passion, man. And that this 8-year-old, who now is a 45-year-old, feels just as free as the first time that I thought any of this could be possible.”

Ray-Ray McCloud Focused On Super Bowl LVIII, Not Taylor Swift

Musician, CEO, and 49ers wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud has told TMZ that his focus this Sunday is the Super Bowl, not meeting Taylor Swift. “I’m a big fan of greatness. She’s great at what she do. She big time. But, hey, this is football. We don’t care about no album coming out. We don’t care about none of that. Congrats to her on the Grammy thing she did, but we don’t care about none of that, man,” McCloud said. Swift is unlikely to attend the Vegas-hosted Super Bowl due to performances in Tokyo until the day before. However, it’s clear that McCloud’s football focus is bigger than his musical aspirations.

McCloud’s music might be a little under the radar for many rap fans, that is if they don’t play Madden. All six songs from his EP Crowd Control, recorded alongside fellow players Darren Waller, Terron Armstead, and Melvin Ingram, were featured on the in-game soundtrack of Madden 24. Elsewhere, McCloud was recently named CEO of talent agency Legendary Tribe Entertainment. McCloud had 135 yards on 12 catches this season.

Lamar Jackson Named MVP

Elsewhere in the NFL, the league held its annual season awards this week. McCloud’s teammate Christian McCaffery snapped Offensive Player of the Year but the biggest award of the night, MVP, went to Lamar Jackson in a landslide. ackson received 49 of 50 first-place votes to earn him since second career MVP award. Dak Prescott and Christian McCaffery finished a distant second and third respectively. Josh Allen earned the other first-place vote. Preseason favorite for the award Patrick Mahomes finished 7th with just six total votes.

Jackson becomes the ninth multi-time MVP of the Super Bowl era but stands alone as the only one in the club without a ring. However, Jackson’s 2023 MVP season is a unique one. Finishing 11th in touchdown passes and 15th in passing yards, Jackson became the first QB MVP to finish outside the top ten in both metrics. However, Jackson, who led the Ravens to a 13-4 record and an AFC Championship Game appearance, earned the award by proving he could take down the best. 10 of the Ravens’ 13 victories would come against teams who finished the season with a winning record. Jackson also had 821 rushing yards, his highest mark since a 1005-yard season in 2020.

Tiësto Has Pulled Out Of Playing The Super Bowl Due To A ‘Family Emergency’

The Super Bowl is coming up this weekend with Halftime Show performer Usher ready to bring the soul, but fans looking forward to seeing what game DJ Tiësto would have contributed to the festivities will unfortunately be disappointed in that regard. The DJ has made the “tough” decision to pull out of the show due to a family emergency according to Variety based on social media posts he shared today.

“Me and my team have been preparing something truly special for months, but a personal family emergency is forcing me to return home Sunday morning,” he wrote. “It was a tough decision to miss the game, but family always comes first. Thank you to the @NFL for the collaboration and looking forward to working with them to deliver something incredible together in the future !”

Super Bowl LVIII was to be the first with an “in-game” DJ, with Tiësto playing during breaks in the game. Some would even appear during CBS’ broadcast. Unfortunately, it looks like we’ll have to wait until some other time to see what Tiësto had up his sleeve. The NFL undoubtedly has a backup plan, but as of press time, it hasn’t yet been revealed which DJ will come off the bench to take Tiësto’s place — or if the league will just nix the plan altogether this year.

Well… at least we still have the ads. So. Many. Ads. (It’s a good crop this year, too.)

Ice Spice Debuts Starry Super Bowl Ad

The full Starry’s Super Bowl ad featuring Ice Spice has finally dropped. In the ad, Spice is being rizzed up the soda brand’s two animated mascots when her “ex-boyfriend” shows up to try and win back the rapper. When she rejects him, the man’s head horrifyingly explodes in a fountain of soda. Titled “It’s Time To See Other Sodas”, the ad dropped on February 2. However, contrary to the belief of some gossip sites, the ad did not reveal any details of the rapper’s actual love life.

However, it’s not Spice’s first food and drink advertising collab. Before she was doing Super Bowl ads, she was appearing in Dunkin commercials. Last year, Spice teamed up with Ben Affleck to promote her limited-time signature drink at the coffee chain. The first ad for the Ice Spice Munchkins Drink dropped during the VMAs on September 12. In something of a meta advertisement, Spice and certified Boston Boy Ben Affleck tried to come up with names for her signature drink. It’s a fun little spot with Affleck turning his Southie accent up to 11 while an unimpressed Spice serves as his straight woman.

Ice Spice Fires Off At Latto

However, exploding the heads of inferior soda-loving exes is not the only thing that Spice has been up to lately. Spice renewed her beef with Latto with some scathing remarks during a recent Spaces AMA. While answering fan questions, Spice went off about Latto playing the music video for “Pretty Girl” in the background of a recent video. “Why am I in the back of your weak a– snippet? I thought it was fake, I thought it had to be AI but no. Like be bold, but if you’re going to talk about me, then talk about me. Why am I in the back of your weak a– snippet?” Spice off to the collection of shocked listeners.

This latest barrage from the Bronx rapper comes after she dropped “Think U The Shit (Fart)” in which she took direct shots at Latto. It’s still unclear what caused the beef to initially kick off. However, fans immediately drew battle lines. Latto is yet to directly respond to both Spice’s new single and the latest comments about the surprise cameo in her latest snippet. Whose side are you on? Let us know in the comments.

Can Patrick Mahomes Surpass Tom Brady With A Third Super Bowl Ring?

On Sunday, Patrick Mahomes looks to win his third Super Bowl in four appearances. For a quarterback who has only played six full seasons in the NFL, the level of success that Mahomes has achieved is nearly unprecedented. However, while Mahomes prepares for the 49ers, there is a much bigger that people are beginning to ask. Does this make Mahomes the true rival to Tom Brady’s GOAT status?

Ring No. 3 For Mahomes Fends Off The Brady Faithful

Patrick Mahomes

Purely from a numbers standpoint, Mahomes needs to win on Sunday to keep pace with Brady. Brady was a three-time Super Bowl champion by the end of his sixth full season in the league. Brady had captured the Lombardi in his first full year as the Patriots starter. He then went on to capture back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004. Mahomes won it all in his second year as a starter before capturing the title again in 2023. However, the problem is that the Brady faithful are hungry and eager to see Mahomes fail. If he can’t top the Niners in Vegas, he will be branded a pagh-wraith by those who wish for an end to the tyranny of the Patriots’ legacy. No matter what Mahomes goes on to achieve after, the Patriots’ “True Way” would be upheld forever more.

Furthermore, the “bad ending” in which Mahomes doesn’t match Brady’s three rings in six years would also suck based purely on what Mahomes has already achieved. He is a two-time MVP, something Brady would not achieve until his 10th full season in the league. Furthermore, Mahomes has started his career hotter than Brady. The Chiefs star threw over 5000 yards in his first full season, a mark Brady wouldn’t surpass until his 11th. As a result, Mahomes has already thrown 31% of Brady’s career passing yards and 33% of his career passing touchdowns after just six seasons.

Mahomes & The Chiefs Need Forward Momentum To Truly Surpass Brady

Tom Brady
NEW ORLEANS – NOVEMBER 30: Tom Brady #12 of the New England Patriots is seen on the field during pregame warm ups prior to the start of the game against the New Orleans Saints at the Louisiana Superdome on November 30, 2009 in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Photo by Scott Halleran/Getty Images)

However, there is something more important to Mahomes’ quest to dethrone Brady than simply matching the number of Super Bowls. After 2004, it would be a full decade until Brady lifted the Lombardi again. Of course, there was the 16-0 season and two Super Bowl losses to Eli Manning but Brady still went a decade without a ring. Mahomes doesn’t have to lead the Chiefs to the league’s first-ever three-peat. However, he does need to ensure that the team stays at the top of the league and grabs another Lombardi sooner rather than later.

But that in itself leads to some difficult questions about the future. In the Chiefs’ tight-end heavy system, what of Travis Kelce? How long can the 34-year-old play at a championship caliber? When do the Chiefs draft turn Mahomes into the mentor and pair with his new long-term battery mate at tight end? And beyond that, how do the Chiefs ensure they keep winning? A big reason for the Patriots’ drought was that other teams around the league stepped up to meet them head-on. Jim Harbaugh now coaches in the Chiefs division. If Mahomes wants to replace Brady as the synonym for success, the Chiefs need to find a way to create a network of long-term winning.

Does It Really Matter?

There is other one question to consider when discussing Mahomes v. Brady – how much does it actually matter? Mahomes does not play to surpass Tom Brady, he has said as much himself. “My career goals have always been the same and it’s to not have any regrets. No matter what I do, I’m going to give everything I have to the game. I’m going to work my tail off, working out, in the film room, whatever that is, and give everything I have to the game. Whatever that ends up with, how many Super Bowl rings that is, however many wins that is, whatever that is, I know that I gave everything I have and that’s what I can do,” Mahomes told reporters this week.

The GOAT debate has always been something for the fans and egotists. Players who call themselves the “greatest of all time” rarely are. Patrick Mahomes will, in all likelihood, have one of the greatest careers in NFL history But he clearly isn’t playing to be the GOAT. Players that do play this way often achieve their goal at a heavy price – first on the stat sheet but with a legacy of infamy. Instead, Mahomes is Percival, the knight able to touch the Holy Grail because he does not desire it for himself. And in a world where we complain that sports have become increasingly about the glory, should we celebrate an authentic love of the game when it presents itself?

Joe Montana Poses For OVO X NFL Collab

However, Usher isn’t the only one bringing out exclusive merch for the Super Bowl. Four-time Super Bowl champion Joe Montana recently teamed up with Drake and the NFL. The Hall of Famer posed in a letterman jacket decked out in the Super Bowl LVIII colors. Furthermore, Montana – who is looking absolutely great at 67 – also donned a cream sweater bearing the OVO logo. The NFL and Drake’s fashion brand have teamed up several times now, with the letterman jacket being a play on an existing product customized by team. However, it’s unclear if the Super Bowl variant will be publicly available.

Montana was chosen due to his unique connection to Super Bowl LVIII. The two-time MVP played for just two teams during his career – the 49ers and the Chiefs. While he won all four of his Super Bowls in the Bay Area, he did led the Chiefs to the AFC Championship game during his first season in Kansas City. The Super Bowl takes place on February 11 in Las Vegas. The Chiefs are hoping to become the first repeat Super Bowl champions since the Patriots in 2005.
