Today, Latto finally unleashed her third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. The project arrived after plenty of teasing, and so far, fans are impressed. The Atlanta-born performer managed to stay true to her roots, giving listeners what they love her for while still showcasing her growth as an artist. As fans share their reactions to the LP on social media, many have also begun to draw comparisons to Drake. Some are even claiming that Latto’s latest release cements her place as the female version of the Toronto hitmaker.

“Latto album dropped today and you can hear so much Drake and 21 Savage on it […] Literally you can put the rapping on Settle Down over the Major Distribution beat and that sh*t would go so hard,” one fan writes on X. “You can hear the Drake influence all over this album but it sounds so good. Latto might really be the female Drake,” another says.

Some critics have even accused Drake of writing the album for Latto which, of course, is unfounded. Either way, it’s likely that Latto is taking the comparisons as a huge compliment. After all, she’s stated that she’s a big fan of Drizzy’s on multiple occasions. This isn’t the first time fans have pointed out similarities in their music either.

After she dropped “Big Mama” in June, fans insisted they could hear Drake’s influence from a mile away. At the time, she made it clear that she was flattered, dubbing him “the GOAT.” When Drake did his unexpected 100-gigabyte dump earlier this week, he even unveiled a track with Latto, which quickly became a fan favorite.

Latto’s new album Sugar Honey Iced Tea is a very fun ride, and although it caught the tail end of the summer, we’re sure it’ll heat up playlists for the rest of the year. Even though it’s only been in our hands for a couple of hours, though, fans were quick to compile and break down all the spiciest moments from the bombastic tracklist. Moreover, in their research, fans found some potential subtle (and not-so-subtle) disses against the likes of Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj, and Coi Leray. Of course, it’s important to note these aren’t explicit enough shots to really cause an uproar in “Like That” fashion, and that they could be about other rappers or just the rap game in general. So, take this speculation with a grain of salt, but the Atlanta femcee surely came through with some fiery lines either way.

For example, there’s “Settle Down” and Latto’s dismissive remarks about an unnamed rapper. “Got these b***hes waiting for me to drop / Know they probably waiting on me to flop / You was just a fan before you popped / I don’t even know you, how we opps?… Thousand-dollar steak and a b***h think we gon’ beef for free? / Lap dog better not think she getting off the leash with me.”

Latto’s Possible Disses On Sugar Honey Iced Tea

Also, there are multiple possible references to Nicki Minaj, Ice Spice, and Coi Leray on Latto’s cut “S/O To Me.” “It clearly doesn’t matter if you younger or double my age,” she possibly spits against Roman. “Bye sis, funny thing about it, you can’t look me in my eye, sis” and “Ice is just water when it melts” are two pretty suggestive and by no means accidental shots at Big Mama’s Bronx rival. Finally, there’s “Don’t play coy with me, you know what you headed for,” which needs no explanation.

Some More Alleged Shots

As many fans have noticed, these shots may not be super explicit… But it’s impossible to look at them and think that Latto didn’t know exactly what she was doing when she dropped them. What’s more important: the intent with which these bars emerged or the decision to drop them with their implications in mind, regardless of whether folks intended them? Nevertheless, the “Housekeeping Knows” artist has way more great material on Sugar Honey Iced Tea, so make sure to check it out and not hyper-fixate on the alleged beef.

Latto And Megan Thee Stallion Reunite As One Heck Of A Tag Team On ‘Squeeze’

Latto and Megan Thee Stallion have so far made for one heck of a tag team. The two Southern rappers first paired up on “Budget” from Megan Thee Stallion’s second album Traumazine, while Latto invited the Houston Hottie to join her on the remix of her own hit single, “Sunday Service,” alongside Flo Milli. They reunite on Latto’s new album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, on the song “Squeeze,” making Meg the only artist to appear twice on the album and one of the five non-Atlanta artists to appear.

Their team-up is unsurprising; they’re both from the South, they’ve both got reputations for being girls’ girls within hip-hop, they pride themselves on their lyrical skills, and they rank pretty high on the list of Nicki Minaj’s least-favorite people (right under Cardi B, who is, presumably, a lot of the reason she doesn’t like them after both collaborated with her mortal enemy, a high crime in her mind). They’ve also both got a fondness for twerking at their shows and challenged each other to a friendly twerk-off during Megan’s recent tour. Meg and Latto expressed plenty of excitement about their latest collab on Twitter (never calling it “X”), with Meg also revealing her video for “Mamushi” is on the way.

The 87-second visual was narrated by Dungeon Family’s Big Rube, who said, “Now, the ATL sky is lit by her ascension — a testament to her hustle. Her skill can’t go unmentioned. Latto is depicted in Spotify’s new Gold Standard Exhibition honoring “the ladies setting the bar for hip-hop” and showcased in New York City’s The Hole Gallery. Sugar Honey Iced Tea, her upcoming album due out on August 9, should be Latto’s latest masterpiece.

On Wednesday, August 7, the Atlanta-bred rapper revealed the full Sugar Honey Iced Tea tracklist, and she is not playing around. The album features Coco Jones, Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, Young Nudy, Hunxho, Mariah The Scientist, and Teezo Touchdown.

“When the album drop pls listen in order & don’t skip ‘Big Mama’ just cuz it’s already out I put a lot of effort into the sequence [smiley face emoji],” Latto captioned her Instagram post.

Latto released “Big Mama” in June. The song placed within the top 50 of several Billboard charts, including peaking at No. 29 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.

After weeks of teasing, last month, Latto officially announced her third studio album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. Now, the project’s release is mere days away and according to her, it will “wash” all of her old bodies of works.

As of today (August 6), the official tracklist for Latto’s album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, has not been confirmed. Based on the project’s video trailer starring T.I. and 2 Chainz, the cover art, as well as snippets shared online by Latto, supporters are expecting a host of guest features from Atlanta legends as the city’s influence is sprinkled all throughout its rollout.

Singles

The tracklist is still up in the air. But, Latto’s previously released singles include “Put It On Da Floor” followed up by “Put It On Da Floor Again” with Cardi B, “Party” with Baby Drill, “Sunday Service,” and “Big Mama” could very well make the project. Fans expect each of these tracks to appear on the album.

Latto Teases Some Major Details Of Her Forthcoming Album “Sugar Honey Iced Tea”

Latto recently made the biggest announcement for her upcoming album Sugar Honey Iced Tea, aka the release date, via a trailer. The self-proclaimed Queen of Da Souf is going to be giving the fans the project on August 9, which is just about two weeks away. She has put out a handful of potential singles for it such as “Big Mama”, “Sunday Service”, its remix with Megan Thee Stallion and Flo Milli, and “ISSA PARTY” with BabyDrill. Of course, you also cannot forget about “Put It On Da Floor” and its sequel with Cardi B.

The final tracklist could be revealed within the next week or so, but Latto has decided to really get fans riled way before then. A series of album teasers disguised as a photo dump was shared to her Instagram nearly 24 hours ago. In the collage, Latto is wearing a red, white, and blue track-like outfit, perhaps in support of her home country during the 2024 Paris Olympics. In the last pic it appears she’s going to be presumably talking with Apple Music about Sugar Honey Iced Tea.

However, the juiciest slides show Latto covering up the album’s set of songs and a new song preview. It looks like there will be 17 songs and “Big Mama” is one of them, being track number two. Finally, there is a hand-written note from someone whose initials are “ACB”. Whoever that is can be seen thanking Latto for allowing them to be a part of the album. These are all huge developments, and we can only expect more will be coming very soon.

Latto Unveils Trailer For New Album “Sugar Honey Iced Tea”

Latto has proven to be one of the best young women artists in rap. Overall, she has come through with a couple of successful projects and she has a ton of big singles. Moreover, she is currently in a bit of a feud with Ice Spice which has certainly led to some intrigue. Throughout all of this, fans have been hoping for some new music. Moreover, “24’s” by T.I. is a fixture of the trailer which makes you think of what we might be getting here. Lastly, some of the ad-libs throughout the video sound as though they are coming from Playboi Carti, which is definitelt intriguing. Either way, the album is going to be highly anticipated and is set to drop on Friday, August 9th which is in two weeks from now.

Latto Is Dropping Soon

“[Aesthetically], I’ve been pulling from Mariah Carey, Beyoncé and Lil Kim. [Musically], I’ve been pulling from Kelis, but obviously with a Southern Hip Hop twist,” Latto told Billboard in regards to the album. “They have very feminine energy, but masculine in the sense of confidence. I feel like they was boss biches.” Only time will tell what kind of project Latto gives us as the artist continues to grow.
