The issue works to shine a light on some of the most iconic looks of the recent past and the minds behind them. The outlet highlighted the showstopping Chenpeng gown Cardi rocked at the 2023 Met Gala honoring Karl Lagerfeld, which took roughly 300 hours to create.

“Karl Lagerfeld was such a force, so I wanted to pay tribute to him but also incorporate elements of Chanel, one of Cardi’s favorite houses,” Carter said of the look. “We’ve given look after look, year after year, we’ve reached into archives that are impossible to reach into. We caused a cultural shift. I don’t think there were many women like Cardi who existed in the fashion space. Now there are a ton of other rap females who aspire to be in that space because they see what’s possible. We set trends.”

Cardi B also noted the hurdles they were up against along the way, which they ultimately overcame as a team. “There are so many obstacles against us. For example, this body is not meant for a size 2. I’m very hips, a**, and that’s me,” she explained. “It was not easy, but we make it look easy. Our door was closed many times … but we’re here because we do it well. I’m not going to be humble about it.”

The “Enough (Miami)” performer shared some photos from the fun shoot on Instagram earlier today alongside a heartfelt caption. “Soooo happy to do this cover with my fashion partner in crime @kollincarter,” she wrote. “We might make it look easy but we worked so hard for all of this… WE knocked down doors together and forced those no’s to eventually turn to YES. Nicki Minaj Sued For Allegedly Damaging Borrowed Jewelry

Nicki Minaj is currently facing a brand new legal battle. According to a report from TMZ, she has been taken to court over allegations of unpaid bills concerning custom jewelry. However, her attorney strongly denies these claims. They suggest that the jeweler is using the situation for publicity rather than pursuing legitimate payment. The lawsuit reveals more about the situation. A West Hollywood jeweler accuses Nicki Minaj’s stylist, Brett Alan Nelson, of borrowing jewelry on behalf of the rapper for a public event. The jeweler claims that the contract specified a one-week deadline for the return of the jewelry. They held Brett responsible for any damages that occurred while the pieces were in his possession.

Unfortunately for Brett and Nicki, the lawsuit alleges that the stylist failed to meet the agreed-upon deadline for returning 66 pieces of jewelry. Furthermore, when the jewelry was finally returned, the store claimed that a set of earrings and a leaf ring had noticeable damage. A close source to Nicki Minaj refutes these allegations. They insist that all items were returned on time as promised. Additionally, they argue that the jeweler only raised concerns about a missing stone after holding the items for an extended period.

Apparently, Nicki Minaj’s stylist has left her on the hook for the bill. Despite the jeweler’s efforts to collect payment, they claim that Brett has not paid the invoices sent for the damages. The invoices total $26,239.50, plus interest. As a result, the jeweler has initiated a lawsuit against Nicki Minaj. They have also sued her stylist. This is all allegedly in an attempt to retrieve the owed money. It should be emphasized that Nicki herself does not seem to have had any direct involvement with the jeweler.

In response to the lawsuit, Nicki’s attorney, Jordan Siev has made a statement. He contends that there is no evidence to support the jeweler’s claim that the jewelry was damaged by Nicki. He also characterizes the lawsuit as a typical insurance claim by the jeweler. That is, aimed at generating publicity and obtaining undeserved payment. Law Roach says that he’s certain about retiring from celebrity styling and that he hasn’t been happy “in a really long time.” The iconic fashion stylist explained his reasoning during an interview with The Cut. Over the years, Roach has worked with many celebrities on looks including Zendaya, Celine Dion, Tom Holland, and Ariana Grande.

“I am definitely, 100,000 percent retiring,” he told the outlet. “Nobody can say what’s forever and what will happen, but at this moment, and in my mind, I’m definitely retiring from celebrity styling. I’m not retiring from fashion, because I love it so much. But styling, in the way that I’ve been of service to other people, I’m retiring from that.”

You suffer through Earth to get to heaven, you know what I mean?”

“I made that post because I felt like I couldn’t breathe and me releasing that and letting the world know that I’m done with this was the first time that whole week that I really felt like I took a breath, a deep breath,” he added. “I don’t wanna suffer no more, I don’t wanna be unhappy, I don’t wanna be at the beck and call of people and their teams.” He further said: “I wanna take some time and figure out, you know, how to live.”

The fashion expert shared the surprising news via Instagram on Tuesday (March 14), seemingly blaming the politics of the industry for his decision to walk away at the age of 44. Aside from the Euphoria actress, he’s also styled huge names like Celiné Dion, Megan Thee Stallion, and Kerry Washington, just to name a few.

In his announcement, Roach wrote, “My cup is empty… Thank you to everyone [who has] supported me and my career over the years. Every person that trusted me with their image, I’m so grateful for you all.” He continued with, “If this business was about the clothes I would do it for the rest of my life, but unfortunately, it’s not!” According to the Chicago-born creative, what truly matters the most in fashion is “the politics, the lies, and the false narratives.”

While the cast of The White Lotus was accepting their prize for Best Ensemble, Aubrey Plaza was reportedly informed by a costar that her “boob [was] hanging out.” Of course, the crowd couldn’t see the starlet’s full chest. Still, her Michael Kors gown did show off a bit of underboob all throughout the evening.

At this time it remains unclear exactly what was said to Plaza during the speech. Whatever it was, the angry expression on her face made it evident she wasn’t pleased. Cameras also caught her muttering obscenities like “Shit’s f*cked” and “Jesus Christ,” causing a definite stir online as viewers at home tried to piece together the drama unfolding. On Monday (February 27), a source close to the 38-year-old actress was able to provide some context.

“[Her anger] was a direct result of her almost being elbowed in her face,” they previously told DailyMail. The near-injury took place as the many performers were shuffling around the stage. Barbie Gets A BHM Makeover From Beyoncé And Megan Thee Stallion’s Sylist

In honor of Black History Month, stylist Zerina Akers collaborated with Barbie to create a series of looks for the doll’s Instagram. Akers, who has styled Latto, Neicy Nash, and Chloe x Halle, garnered recognition as Beyoncé‘s personal stylist. In addition, the highly sought-after trendsetter received an Emmy for her costume designs in Black Is King. Now, Akers is bringing her stylish twist to Barbie’s wardrobe. According to The Root, the Akers-Barbie collaboration project presents Barbie as a Black culture icon while celebrating diversity in representation.

When discussing her inspiration for the project with the outlet, Akers commented, “partnering with Barbie and getting to dress yet another icon is such a full circle moment for me—Barbie and Mattel were such a huge part of my childhood and are so nostalgic for me. I’m so excited to reimagine Barbie’s style and help inspire the next generation of fashionistas to dream big!” The costume designer also revealed how when she was a kid, she would find ways to dress up her Barbies to her own tastes. “Whether I was making clothes for my Barbie dolls or styling their hair, I was able to practice different ways to explore creatively as it related to image, appearance, and lifestyle,” Akers mentioned.

Barbie Receives A New Look From Zerina Akers

The 36-year-old fashionista added how important representation was when she was in her doll-playing phase. “For me, Barbie was one of my earliest forms of representation. My aunt would buy me the prettiest Black Barbie dolls to play with,” she told the outlet. “It was very important for us to see ourselves in the toys we played with and for our dolls to have multicultural ‘friends.’” Back in 2020, Akers founded the online marketplace Black Owned Everything. The organization initially started as an Instagram account, but has since grown into a “movement.” Black Owned Everything’s goal is to bridge Black business and the community through “meaningful and long-lasting participation.” The website describes, “it is not ephemeral, trend-based, or short-lived.”
