Aubrey Plaza’s Stylist Says She “Wanted Underboob” While Defending SAG Awards Look

This year’s SAG Awards ceremony was a celebration of some of the best in movies and TV. Unfortunately, one awkward onstage moment has been overshadowing many of the others. While the cast of The White Lotus was accepting their prize for Best Ensemble, Aubrey Plaza was reportedly informed by a costar that her “boob [was] hanging out.” Of course, the crowd couldn’t see the starlet’s full chest. Still, her Michael Kors gown did show off a bit of underboob all throughout the evening.

At this time it remains unclear exactly what was said to Plaza during the speech. Whatever it was, the angry expression on her face made it evident she wasn’t pleased. Cameras also caught her muttering obscenities like “Shit’s f*cked” and “Jesus Christ,” causing a definite stir online as viewers at home tried to piece together the drama unfolding. On Monday (February 27), a source close to the 38-year-old actress was able to provide some context.

Aubrey’s SAG Awards Slip-Up

“[Her anger] was a direct result of her almost being elbowed in her face,” they previously told DailyMail. The near-injury took place as the many performers were shuffling around the stage. Many female stars were notably being pushed to the back of the group as older male actors like Michael Imperioli and F. Murray Abraham addressed the crowd. She was obviously upset on Sunday evening. Thankfully, Plaza has since shared a photo dump on Instagram celebrating the HBO series’ big win.

In the caption, she wrote, “Best cast ever! I love these people and am so proud of this show. Thank you @sagawards.” Throughout various photos we see her celebrating, trophy in hand, on the red carpet with The White Lotus‘ other stars. She also found time to pose for pictures with Wednesday starlet Jenna Ortega, as well as Parks & Recreation costar, Amy Poehler.

Elsewhere online, Plaza’s stylist, Jessica Paster, is coming to the Delaware native’s defense over the look. As hateful comments have come pouring in, specifically about the garment’s fit, she’s clapped back with her side of the story. “The straps could be better adjusted. I love the colour, and hair and makeup look amazing,” one Instagram user wrote following the SAG Awards.

“Did seven fittings… For real… I wanted underboob,” Paster dished in the replies, making it known she and her client were attempting to turn heads with the gown’s centre cutout. Aubrey Plaza Mouths “Shit’s F*cked…Jesus Christ” During Awkward SAG Awards Speech, Social Media Reacts

It was an undeniably huge weekend for celebrity celebrations all around. Overseas in Milan, many were attending fashion shows put on by the likes of Gucci and Prada. Elsewhere, in America, stars flocked to two noteworthy ceremonies – the NAACP Image Awards, as well as the SAG Awards. The latter took place on Sunday (February 26) evening, and saw plenty of fantastic style moments as well as some hilarious antics.

Plenty of famous faces were honoured at the annual Screen Actors Guild ceremony, but as always, there were a few projects that came out on top. Everything Everywhere All At Once, The White Lotus, and Abbott Elementary were among them, though an ensemble acceptance speech for the Mike White-created series has been going viral online. In the circulating clip, Aubrey Plaza, who plays Harper in the second season, appears to markedly glare at her costars as they address the crowd.

The White Lotus Wins

After it was announced they had won the award for Best Ensemble in a Drama Series, several stars from the HBO series took to the stage. Among them were The Sopranos alum Michael Imperioli, Will Sharpe, and Jon Gries. At one point during their speech, the latter actor appears to caution Plaza that she’s on the verge of suffering a wardrobe malfunction via the chest cutout in her dress. It obviously remains unclear exactly what he said, but the Parks & Recreation star’s furious face and immediate decision to pull her dress down to hide her cleavage speaks volumes.

Several eagle eyed viewers noticed that Plaza’s antics didn’t stop there. As F. Murray Abraham was speaking about the victims in Syria, Turkey, Ukraine, and Russia, she appears to awkwardly mouth “Jesus Christ,” as if millions of people weren’t watching. Elsewhere, some believe she said “shit’s f*cked” while shuffling amongst the other actors who seemingly kept pushing her toward the back of the crowd.

Social Media Reacts To Aubrey’s Antics

Since the SAG Awards aired last night, social media has been having a field day dissecting The White Lotus cast’s tension on stage. “She looked like she haaaaated being up there and immediately ran off stage while everyone in the cast was congratulating and hugging each other,” one Twitter user pointed out. Others suggested that, perhaps Plaza had indulged in some marijuana before stepping out for the ceremony.

“People criticizing Aubrey Plaza’s face during the speech… Usually valid, BUT this time, she had just been told to fix her dress and underboob,” someone else explained in the 38-year-old’s defense. “Her mind was probably racing a mile a minute.” Keep scrolling for more reactions to The White Lotus‘ unusual acceptance speech, and check back later for more pop culture news.

‘Saturday Night Live’ Is Kicking Off 2023 With Aubrey Plaza, Michael B. Jordan, Sam Smith, and Lil Baby

Saturday Night Live returns from its winter break with two first-time hosts. Aubrey Plaza will host with musical guest Sam Smith on January 21st while Michael B. Jordan will take hosting duties alongside musical guest Lil Baby January 28th.

Plaza ended 2022 with a bang, luxuriating in Italy for White Lotus and playing a criminal named Emily in Emily the Criminal. Meanwhile, Jordan’s Creed III will hit theaters on March 3rd, so it’s a slam dunk that there will be at least one Rocky sketch on the program. The two couldn’t be more different stylistically — she’s so deadpan that she has fans wanting her to stand on their faces, and Jordan is a classic movie star with a trillion-dollar smile — so it’ll be a fun couple of weeks to see the show shake things up.

In a way, it’s strange that these two haven’t hosted SNL yet. Plaza has an Upright Citizens Brigade background and was even an NBC page. As she shifted from Parks and Rec to movies and weird anti-superhero roles, she would have an been an ideal pick as host. The same goes for Jordan for different reasons. He’s wildly versatile, dangerously charming, and he’s been a bona fide star for almost a decade.

All that to say: these are really fun picks. An excellent way to kickstart the second half of the comedy show’s 48th season.

Sam Smith And Lil Baby Will Perform On ‘Saturday Night Live’ This Month

Saturday Night Live is making its return to our screens next weekend, and they’ve got some promising acts to kick off the midseason. Today, this month’s hosts and performers were revealed via SNL‘s social media accounts.

On the first episode of the month, set to air live on Saturday, January 21, is The White Lotus star Aubrey Plaza, who will host that evening’s episode. The musical guest of the night is Sam Smith, who will be performing a little less than a week before their fourth album Gloria drops.

In an interview with Billboard that took place last August, Smith said the music on Gloria will be centered around queer joy.

“I think joy for me, and for a lot of queer people, is quite a dangerous place,” Smith said. “We’re all masters of pain, and I think it’s actually a very courageous act to step into the queer joy of it all.”’

The following Saturday (January 28), Michael B. Jordan, who stars in Creed III set to premiere in March will host, and rapper Lil Baby will perform.

Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 10:30 p.m. EST on NBC. The broadcast also streams live on Peacock.

Gloria is out 1/27 via Capitol. You can pre-save it here.
