LaMelo Ball Speaks Out Following $100K Fine Over Homophobic Post-Game Comment

Charlotte Hornets superstar LaMelo Ball was fined $100,000 by the NBA this past weekend and for good reason. Following a game, Ball said the term “no homo.” Overall, a simple “pause” probably would have sufficed. However, he ended up taking it way too far. Although there were plenty of fans who were not offended, the league has to protect its image. Consequently, they came through with a well-deserved fine.

Following the fine, Hornets head coach Charles Lee spoke out on what happened. As he explains, LaMelo is very apologetic. “As an organization, that’s obviously not something that we condone. Our standards and what is required of our players in our environment that we create is really important to us,” Lee said. “I spoke to Melo and he’s obviously very apologetic from what I’ve seen since I’ve been around him. He loves everyone and he’s a joy to have around in the facility, and that’s not typically how he operates.”

LaMelo Ball Made A Big Mistake

“He and I talked about the seriousness of the situation and how he needs to conduct himself going forward, he understands what’s going to be expected of him. I look forward to seeing him grow from this moment. We apologize for what happened,”Lee continued. “He and I talked about it and he definitely said, ‘going forward, I want to be better and I don’t want to see that happen.’ So, for somebody to use those words and say it out of his mouth, we will make sure that we hold him accountable to that.”

This is a teachable moment for LaMelo and we hope he learns from it. So far this season, he has been playing incredibly well. You never want to see a young player squander that because of a poor judgment call. Only time will tell whether or not Ball truly changes his ways.

Beyonce To Headline Halftime Show Of Ravens-Texans’ Christmas Day Game

Beyonce will be headlining a halftime show for the matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans on Christmas Day, next month. Netflix announced the performance in a post on social media on Sunday night. Along with the announcement, Netflix shared a video of Beyonce with her song, “AMERIICAN REQUIEM,” playing in the background. It will be the streaming service’s first day hosting an NFL game.

The announcement has fans on social media stoked. “GIRL I JUST WOKE UP THE WHOLE NEIGHBORHOOD SCREAMING,” one user wrote in response to the news on Instagram. Another added: “One thing this woman gone do is DROP something outta nowhere and have the internet going up.”

Netflix’s Christmas Day slate of NFL games comes after the streaming service hosted the live fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul on Friday night. That experience didn’t go over well for many users on social media who have complained about buffering and lag issues. In response to Beyonce’s announcement, one user on Instagram wrote: “Netflix just proved they can’t handle a boxing match. they wanna try this? I mean i’m gonna watch but fix your stuff first!” In addition to Texans-Ravens, Netflix will also air the earlier game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It’s not Beyonce’s first time working with the NFL. She previously performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2016. The NFL has started to have a larger and larger presence on Christmas Day over the years. This season, the league will put a pair of marquee games on Dec. 25, as the Kansas City Chiefs will travel to Pittsburgh to Take on the Steelers in the 1 p.m window, while the Houston Texans will play host to the Baltimore Ravens at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Late on Sunday night, the NFL decided to announce that it has something special up its sleeve for the late afternoon game, as it was revealed that Beyonce will perform at halftime in her hometown.

There’s no word on whether the league has a similarly huge name lined up for the early game, but lining up Beyonce — who headlined the Super Bowl halftime show back in 2013 — for a performance during a showcase game like this makes a ton of sense.

Of course, there is a potential problem that will be monitored throughout the Christmas Day schedule, as the games will be aired on Netflix, which just struggled mightily with its broadcast of the boxing match between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. Adding Beyonce to what will already be a highly-anticipated NFL game should only bring more eyeballs onto the platform, and there’s going to be a whole lot of interest in whether or not Netflix will be able to keep up with the demand.

Adam “Pacman” Jones was arrested for alleged public intoxication, resisting arrest, evading arrest, and assault on a police officer in Arlington, Texas over the weekend. He had been in attendance at the fight between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson. TMZ has shared video of the incident, in which the former NFL star rocks a black outfit with a cowboy hat while being escorted out of Lowes Arlington Hotel.

Shortly after his arrest, a rep. for Jones reached out to TMZ. “Like thousands of other people in Dallas last night, Pac was in town for the fight and was enjoying himself, spending time with the fans.” the rep. said. “Pacman was returning to his hotel to wind down for the evening. He was not looking for trouble.”

The following day, Jones shared more insight into the incident on social media. Taking to Instagram, he shared a video in which someone inside the hotel called him the n-word. “We must talk about this,” he captioned the clip, before hinting that he’ll provide more details on Tuesday.

Adam “Pacman” Jones Arrested In Texas

Jones spent 13 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2010–2017. The run-in with police in Texas is far from the first legal issue he’s faced. He was infamously suspended for the entirety of the 2007 season and for part of the 2008 season due to off-the-field conduct. Discussing the upcoming event during a live episode of Drink Champs at ComplexCon 2024, Snoop explained that JAY is giving a platform to hip-hop artists that they never had access to before.

“What we need to think about is that before JAY-Z got control of the Super Bowl wasn’t no n**gas performing. So let’s go back to the essence of the beginning of bridge,” Snoop said. “He’s creating a wave of artists to have an opportunity to perform. If you are a good artist and you are a great artist, your time will come. I was never crying about it or mad about it when Dr. Dre called me and asked me to get his back. “Inside The NBA” Is Headed To A New Network Amid TNT Licensing Drama

TNT’s iconic talk show, Inside the NBA, will reportedly be headed to ESPN and ABC following the end of this season after the original network lost the rights to the NBA over the summer. The update comes after fans have worried for months that this will be the final season with Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson all together to cover the league. Both Alex Sherman of CNBC and Joe Flint of The Wall Street Journal have confirmed the news as of Saturday night.

“Can confirm WBD has reached a settlement with the NBA,” Sherman wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Inside the NBA will continue and be licensed to ESPN. All the talent will remain TNT Sports employees and can be used in other future shows or projects for warner bros Disocvery. [sic]”

Charles Barkley has been particularly vocal about his disappointment regarding TNT’s loss of the rights to broadcast the NBA. “Clearly, the NBA has wanted to break up with us from the beginning. I’m not sure TNT ever had a chance. TNT matched the money, but the league knows Amazon and these tech companies are the only ones willing to pay for the rights when they double in the future. The NBA didn’t want to piss them off,” he said in a statement from earlier this year, as caught by Bleacher Report. “It’s a sad day when owners and commissioners choose money over the fans.”

Fans were also very vocally disappointed by the originally presumed loss of Inside The NBA. No weight class. Just like how it used to be done. But you won’t.”

The post has been causing a stir on social media. In response, one fan joked: “You’re gonna pull out when you realize Conor is under 45 years old.” Another wrote: “Connor McGregor is done with fighting unfortunately. He took the money and he ran. As caught by MMA Junkie, Paul said: “It’s funny to say, ‘Conor McGregor is scared of Jake Paul and will never box him,’ but it’s the f*cking truth. Jake Paul Has Some Strong Words For Gervonta Davis After Boxing Challenge

Jake Paul is on a very high horse after beating Mike Tyson in their long-awaited boxing match in Texas on Friday night (November 15). A lot of people within the combat sports world and outside of it continue to react to the showdown, whether in positive or negative ways. Also, this led to plenty of challenges and reflections on both boxers’ actual talents, such as superstar lightweight Gervonta Davis saying that he would “beat the brakes” off of Paul if they ever stepped into the ring together. When a reporter asked the content creator-turned-fighter about this, he let out a small chuckle, and his colleague posited that Davis needs Paul, presumably for attention, money, status, or a real challenge.

“Yeah, I mean, I’d be down,” Jake Paul responded to Gervonta Davis’ boasting. “Let’s run it. Like, I’d be super, super down. Is there a height limit in boxing? […] Yeah, [Conor McGregor] will never do that, though,” he answered when asked if he sees a bout with the skilled combatant happening in the future. “He knows. He knows way, way, way better than that. He’s not his own boss.” “One, he’s under contract. And two, he won’t do it,” Paul’s colleague added.

Jake Paul Responds To Gervonta Davis

With all this in mind, we know that Jake Paul must feel like he’s on top of the world after proving many of his haters wrong. A lot of people bet against him in his Mike Tyson fight, including a losing bet from Drake that cost him $355K. They say success is the best revenge, and since it’s a dish best served cold, we don’t doubt that the Ohio native will talk a lot of smack to anyone ahead of his next moves.

Meanwhile, we wonder how Jake Paul and Mike Tyson will talk about their matchup in the coming days, as they already provided some preliminary statements on the matter.
