Drake’s Spanish Vocals On “Gently” Leave TikToker’s Madre Less Than Impressed

Drake may be one of the most well-known rappers in the industry right now, but that doesn’t mean he’s everyone’s cup of tea. The 36-year-old’s most recent album run has done nothing but prove that as podcasters like Joe Budden and Charlamagne Tha God have found themselves at odds with Drizzy over the quality of his work. Besides dealing with public figures sharing their opinions, the father of one has also had to take in the world’s reaction to For All The Dogs, which has been a total mix.

Loyal fans of Drake’s were happy to see him return to his roots on the new LP, but of course, listeners always find something to slam. This time around, the 6ix God’s Spanish accent on “Gently” is raising eyebrows, particularly those of the language’s native speakers. In the viral video below, one TikTok user filmed her mother’s reaction to the Bad Bunny collaboration. Though she doesn’t say much, her lack of a poker face reveals all the thoughts running through her mind while Spanpagne Papi sings.

“Me gusta su sonrisa aunque me haga daño / I live like Sopranos, Italianos,” he rhymes, earning an eye roll. “I’ve been El Chico for cincuenta años / Me gusta su culazo perreando,” Drake continues. Before the clip comes to an end, the OP’s mother declares, “He’s d*mb,” earning a snicker from off camera.

Drake may have missed the mark with his attempt at singing in Spanish, but thankfully, his “Gently” collaborator is holding things down. On Friday (October 13), Bad Bunny dropped off his Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Manana project with just a few days’ notice, and already he’s expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard chart. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Machine Gun Kelly Sings In Spanish And Disses Haters At Festival Show

Yesterday, Machine Gun Kelly performed at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, Spain. According to HipHopDX, right in the middle of playing a string of his biggest hits he stopped to address his fans in attendance. He spoke to the crowd completely in Spanish thanking them for their love and welcoming him into their country. He then declared that he would pay homage to their language by singing a song with them. The song he picked was Marc Cisco’s “Oy Yoy You,” which was clearly a good choice as the crowd sang along with every word.

Afterwards, Machine Gun Kelly did something he’s used to doing often, taking on haters. “Haters will say I switched genres again,” he captioned a clip he posted of the performance. Once purely a rapper, MGK notoriously took a turn for pop-punk a few years ago and has found massive success with it. Both of his pop-punk albums Tickets To My Downfall and Mainstream Sellout debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. He also scored a top-20 hit alongside blackbear with the song “My Ex’s Best Friend.” The track has since gone 3x platinum.

Another one of Machine Gun Kelly’s “haters,” at least if you ask him, is Jack Harlow. In a recent song, Harlow said that he was the best white rapper since Eminem, a comment MGK clearly took offense to. MGK brought it up with a diss at Harlow in one of his backyard freestyles. He followed that by teaming up with Doe Boy in the next episode of his freestyle series.

Machine Gun Kelly has also beefed with many others. His highly publicized beef with Eminem a few years ago resulted in some major hit diss tracks. Just recently he found himself taking shots at the frontman of 2000’s pop punk band The All-American Rejects. All of that has come alongside his ongoing relationship drama with actress Megan Fox. What do you think of Machine Gun Kelly singing to his fans in Spanish? Let us know in the comment section below.

6ix9ine And Anuel AA Exchange Fighting Words Over Instagram

Beef seems to be brewing between rappers 6ix9ine and Anuel AA. The two got into a heated back-and-forth via Instagram on Thursday, July 6th, causing fans in both camps to go up in arms. Both of them threw out salacious details of the other. According to comments on DJ Akademiks’ post on the matter, Spanish translator-commenters said, “Anuel calls 69 a Pedo even [though] he knew this while recording 2 songs [with] him.” This is a reference to 6ix9ine’s plea deal from child sexual performance charges back in 2015.

Apparently, 6ix9ine clapped back with “[saying] Anuel beat his ex while pregnant.” This is a serious accusation about a musical artist who has had a plethora of romantic relationships and has children with a few women. It’s a bit of a setback for 6ix9ine, who seemed to be righting the ship of his career by gifting the people of the Dominican Republic money mere days ago. Now, he’s getting into yet another confrontation with someone in the rap game.

It’s fair to question Anuel AA about his pedophile claim about the New York hip-hop performer. The two created a couple of songs together back in the day. Insta commenters pointed out that Anuel would’ve known about the pedo thing at that time. Whether Anuel knew or not is up for speculation. But what is known is the two now have bad blood. How did the former collaborators reach such irreconcilable terms?

This seemed to have all started when 6ix9ine and Anuel AA’s brother appeared to get into an alleged altercation back in February. They could be heard in a video arguing and possibly throwing fists. It was only a matter of time before Anuel AA got involved. With the tirades screenshot by DJ Akademiks, we will have receipts for when this beef continues to grow. After both of them traded secrets in public, who knows where the fight goes from here?

6ix9ine Falsely Accused Of “Checking” A Fan in Colombia

6ix9ine is no stranger to controversy, In 2018, he was arrested after reportedly choking a 16-year-old at a mall in Houston. Furthermore, in 2020, he pled guilty to paying an associate to shoot fellow rapper Chief Keef in New York. Most notably, 6ix9ine spent time in prison for his role in the Nine Trey Gangsters trial. Now, he has been accused of “checking” a fan after a recent concert in Colombia.

In a video posted to DJ Akademiks on Instagram, 6ix9ine is seen pushing through a crowd of fans in Colombia. At one point, the rapper grabs and yanks the medallion around his neck and begins speaking in Spanish to a nearby fan. Akademiks captioned the video “6ix9ine checks fan who tried to take his chain in Colombia😳.” The implication of this video is that a fan tried to take 6ix9ine’s chains and the rapper put the fan in line. However, these allegations are false.

Translation Proves Allegations False

However, commentators have disputed that this is the case. Firstly, the video does not clearly show anyone touching the medallion, with a brief incidental contact at best. Furthermore, commentators have argued that the allegation that 6ix9ine “checked” the individual in question is untrue. Additionally, commentators have claimed that what 6ix9ine actually says in Spanish clears him completely. “You’re wrong foo! They weren’t trying to take his chain. You don’t speak or understand our language though so I don’t expect you to know what you’re talking about. Smh,” one commentator wrote on the original DJ Akademiks post.

After independently translating the video, HotNewHipHop can confirm that the claim that 6ix9ine “checked” a fan is incorrect. As he 6ix9ine pushes through the crowd, the rapper yanks on his chain and says “esto no se sale” (“this does not come off”). 6ix9ine then walks closer to a fan and says “gracias por usted aquí en Colombia en Medellín la primera vez” (“thank you for having me in Colombia, in Medellín, for the first time”). At no point does 6ix9ine speak or act aggressively with a fan. Furthermore claims that he does should be taken as false clickbait based on a lack of understanding of Spanish.
