Yung Lean And Bladee Explore Their Own Moody Expanse On “Enemy”

Earlier this week, fans of Swedish music and fashion group Drain Gang and rapper Yung Lean were delighted by a new surprise release. Lean teamed up with frequent collaborator Bladee for a surprise new album called Psykos. While the project is just 8 tracks spanning 22 minutes fans were hyped nonetheless. Tracks like “Golden God” and the opener “Coda” are already emerging as favorites for both artists die-hard fanbases.

Another song emerging as a deep cut highlight is the spacious “Enemy.” The track is one of the most formless of the bunch but it delivers a psychedelic space that both artists have always thrived in. The somber tone of the song is also a familiar sound for both Lean and Bladee. The loose refrains see them singing about wasted opportunities, feeling stuck, and repeated references to light imagery. It all comes packaged with swaying gentle tones and reverb that turn the song into an absolute dream. Listen to “Enemy” below.

Yung Lean & Bladee’s “Golden God” Is A Heavenly Braggadocious Cut From “Psykos”

Yung Lean and Bladee, two Swedish artists with tons of creative flare, have just dropped off a new project today. It was a total stunner, as it had little to no promotion from either camp. But, it features eight tracks, no features and runs for just 22 minutes. One song we wanted to highlight from Psykos is Yung Lean and Bladee’s “Golden God.”

It is track number on the record and it is one of the more big boss cuts here. Most people, especially those not familiar with Lean or Bladee’s music, might be expecting heavy 808s and trap percussion. It would make sense to think that way, since tracks like this in hip-hop typically go for that sonic direction. However, that could not be further from the truth.

Listen To “Golden God” By Yung Lean & Bladee

Lean and Bladee incoporate steady drums and excellent but simple guitar riffs. For any rock fans out there, it has a similar sound to New Order’s 1985 track “Elegia.” As a little fun aside, that song can be heard in the immensely popular Netlfix series Stranger Things in its first season. But, back to Lean and Bladee, they deliver a truly mesmerizing listening experience from start to finish.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new song, “Golden God,” by Yung Lean and Bladee? For each artist, is this one of their strongest tracks, why or why not? How are you feeling about Psykos so far? What songs are you gravitating toward right now and why? Do you think there should have been a feature or two on the record? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Yung Lean and Bladee. Finally, stay with us for the most informative song posts throughout the week.

Heroes of the phone, was too far, gotta call a car
Call a cab, pop a tab, Sad Boys in the back
Couple girls in the front, let her sit up in my trunk (Let her sit up in my trunk)
And you can’t do it like we do it so we do it just to prove it
I love magic, I love money, I love music, I abuse it
Movin’ in the shadows, we maneuver through the sewers

Playboi Carti Pays Homage To His Love Of Punk On “Ketamine”

Playboi Carti is someone who has a cult-like fanbase who will go to the ends of the earth to listen to his music. Overall, Carti has been pretty coy about his releases over the years. Die Lit was a surprise release while Whole Lotta Red was steeped in delays. Now, he has a new album called Music dropping, and based on the marketing, it should be dropping this year. Dating back to last December, Carti came through with five new singles and none of them are on streaming services.

The rollout has frustrated fans greatly, especially since he has gone a couple of months without releasing anything. Well, it seems like the prayers have been answered. On Tuesday, Carti took to his Opium Instagram account to reveal that a song would be coming out at 9:30 PM EST. Fans flooded to the page at that exact time and they were reworded with a new track called “Ketamine.” Below, you can find the music video for the track, which features a guitarist and some very obvious punk references.

Playboi Carti Drops A New Banger

The song itself is short and may not be as impactful as the previous singles. Although the production does a phenomenal job of building tension and bringing the hype, Carti keeps things one note for the majority of the song. He has brought forth his new deep-toned flow, but that is as far as he goes here. Regardless, it is a solid effort and it’s just good to see Carti releasing again. Hopefully, this will lead to an album announcement sometime soon.

Let us know what you think of this new track, in the comments section down below. Are you excited for the new Carti album?
