Fat Joe Links With Babyface For Sensual Single “I Got You”

Joey Crack, aka Fat Joe, is back right before Thanksgiving to drop off a little token of his appreciation for his fans. On the eve of the special holiday, the New York native is here with “I Got You,” a brand-new single featuring longtime R&B act, Babyface. Since July, the “What’s Luv?” MC has delivered a couple of solo releases. There’s the rowdy club banger with frequent collaborator Remy Ma which turned heads thanks to her unhinged verse. Then, there’s the homage to the 90s, “Paradise,” featuring DJ Khaled and Anitta. It’s crisp, summery, and a fun vibe. Now, there’s “I Got You,” which sees Joe playing the role of the provider in a relationship.

The production is maybe the best out of this recent bunch. It’s glitzy, slick, dreamy, and catchy thanks to its background vocals. Babyface bolsters that latter quality with his buttery smooth chorus which echoes Joe’s sentiments of making this woman’s biggest dreams come true. Whether it’s being around other celebrities (like Beyonce), spending a bag at the mall, or traveling, Joe and Babyface got you. Given the release pattern, there’s a solid chance that he’s working on an album behind the scenes. He has yet to formally announce anything yet, but we feel it’s imminent. It’s also been quite a while since Joe’s last album. His last solo album is 2013’s Darkside III. Overall, though, his last LP is his collab tape with Dre, Family Ties. That dropped back in 2019. For now, check out “I Got You” with the YouTube audio link below.

The Lox Still Sound Fresh On “Isley Money”

“We got new music we’re working on. Right now, we’re tryna get out by the end of this year.” That was Jadakiss speaking with CBS Mornings in early August about some upcoming material. In particular, he was speaking about The LOX cooking some stuff up in the booth and it had many ready for a comeback. Unfortunately, the New York trio of Kiss, Sheek Louch, and Styles P were not able to fulfill that promise. Lately, though, they have been performing at venues across the country, including a special NPR Tiny Desk appearance which went over extremely well. But it seems that the essential rap group is beginning to get the wheels spinning once again.

Today, The Lox are here with “Isley Money,” their first single together since “Bout S***” back in 2020. They have some features since then, but their full return is hopefully imminent now. This track saw an early release on the EVEN platform, which is a website that encourages fans to support the artist’s work directly. As it stands, an album announcement has not yet been made. But based on that quote we included earlier; there’s a decent chance we get a new LOX LP maybe sometime next year. Despite the long wait between singles the Money, Power & Respect creators are sounding just as hungry and just plain good as they were back in the late 90s. Louch, Styles, and Kiss have always been stellar when it comes to announcing their presence on a track and that’s no different here. The instrumental, cheffed up by VINNYIDOL sounds gritty and soulful thanks to the sampled vocal loop. Check it out below.

Kendrick Lamar Embodies The Spirit Of 2Pac On The Story-Drive “GNX” Cut “Reincarnated”

Kendrick Lamar dropped off GNX on Friday morning, much to the shock and awe of fans all across the globe. Overall, this was not supposed to happen. We were not supposed to get a new Kendrick album until perhaps a couple of days before the Super Bowl. However, we were ultimately proven wrong. Lamar surprised his fans with a 12-track album, that some believe could be a mixtape before the “real” release, whatever that means.

Regardless, this project is fantastic and has a ton of sensational songs. From West Coast bangers to melodic r&b cuts, Kendrick gave us everything here. However, one song that has a lot of fans impressed, is “Reincarnated.” This is a song that features the beat from 2Pac’s track “Made N*****” which came off of the Gang Related soundtrack. Moreover, it features Kendrick rapping in some cadences that will immediately remind you of Pac. It’s a phenomenal tribute that comes with Kendrick’s signature storytelling. Throughout the song, we even hear Kendrick rapping from multiple perspectives, with reincarnation as a central throughline.

While fans are still trying to decipher the artists he is talking about, there is no doubt that this is one of his best songs. Even 15 years into his career, Kendrick is finding ways to innovate. Overall, this album is undeniably West Coast, and the references are appreciated. He just dropped a video for “Squabble Up” and again, the references are West Coast-heavy. One can only imagine the kind of Super Bowl halftime show he is about to put on.

Kendrick Lamar & AzChike Deliver Infectious Bars And Unrivaled Chemistry On “Peekaboo”

Kendrick Lamar surprised the entire hip-hop world on Friday when he decided to drop off a new album called GNX. Overall, this is being considered the hip-hop album of the year, and it has only been out for a couple of days. If one thing is for certain with this album, it is that Kendrick has united the West Coast. He featured numerous smaller West Coast artists on the project, and it has made for one of Kendrick’s most unique listens to date.

In the past, Kendrick has gone heavy with the concepts for his albums. GKMC was about his life growing up in Compton. Meanwhile, TPAB was all about America and the racism it was founded on. Mr. Morale was one huge therapy session. However, GNX is not burdened by a grandiose concept. Instead, it is Kendrick having a whole lot of fun. A great example of this is the song “Peekaboo” with AzChike. The song contains skeletal yet bouncy production in which Kendrick sounds as menacing as ever. On numerous occasions, he and AzChike trade bars and it makes for an amazing balancing act.

Ultimately, “Peekaboo” serves as an example of the type of creative space Kendrick is in right now. He wants to have fun but he also wants to embrace the boogeyman nickname that has been given to him. GNX is a victory lap and we’re not sure the lap is going to come to an end, anytime soon.

Double-park it all at Tam’s, Mr. Get-Off-On-Your-Mans
If he hatin’, disrespect, you better follow up with hands
Losses to the neck, but now I’m trophied up, I’m sayin’, like
Bing-bop-boom-boom-boom-bop-bam
The type of shit I’m on, you wouldn’t understand
The type of skits I’m on, you wouldn’t understand
Big-dog business, I would not hold your hand

Kofi Drops Lead To Pettyboy In “Say I Won’t”

Red Bull Records Kofi prepares for the world for Pettyboy with the buzzworthy lead single “Say I Won’t.” It’s an R&B slow jam that demands his partner not leave him for “a couple girls waiting on me right now.” The single centers around the 11-track project that introduces the new sensation to a worldwide audience. “‘Pettyboy’ is my get back album,” says Red Bull’s promising act. “All the things I should’ve done in my last relationship but didn’t. All the times I held my tongue, this is what I should’ve said.”

Red Bull is known for producing chart-topping superstars such as Blxst, Joony, and Late August 08. Blxst and Joony just came off the I’ll Always Come Find You Tour. The addition of Kofi takes the label to another level as it embarks on international territories to discover the next big star.

Kofi is a Ghanaian producer, singer-songwriter, and rapper who merges R&B, hip-hop, and Afrobeats. Originally from Toronto and a fan of artists like Drake, he now lives in Sète, France, where he plays professional volleyball. Balancing both music and sports, he continues to prove his doubters wrong. Pettyboy is a concept album that explores the phases of a toxic relationship through Kofi’s savage alter ego. His lyrics range from “Don’t ask me to be romantic, that’s hopeless” to “Girl I promise I’ll change.” Inspired by Toronto’s cold yet beautiful vibe, Kofi collaborated with local producers like SLMN and King Fisher.

Kendrick Lamar & Mustard Have Another Hit With The Thought-Provoking “Tv Off”

Kendrick Lamar and Mustard are cooking with fish grease once again, this time on “tv off.” This collaboration follows the incredible and historic success of “Not Like Us,” the dagger diss record from the tense beef with Drake. It finds a home on K. Dot’s brand-new surprise album GNX which hit streaming out of the blue on Friday, November 22. This is a great way to capitalize on the hype of the aforementioned West Coast anthem, but also to build upon these two’s chemistry going forward.

“tv off” might seem very similar to “Not Like Us” on the surface, especially with the triumphant horn sections and contagious energy. However, the lyrical content is a great contrast and secretly plays into the track’s theme of deceit, superficiality, and more. Lamar mentioned on “The Day The Party Died” how he wanted to reset the culture that we are experiencing in rap right now. This GNX cut almost feels like a pseudo-sequel in some ways, as he mentions how social media ruins people’s perceptions, society’s questionable decisions and how they impact the world, and more. It might a stretch on our part, but this is what Kendrick’s music allows for.

J Cole Officially Releases The Song That Got Him Signed To Jay-Z, “Lights Please”

J Cole has been fulfilling fans’ aspirations over the last few days since dropping his audio series, Inevitable. People were hoping that the North Carolina luminary would reissue some of his earliest works of his career once they saw the titles of some of the episodes. “The Come Up” went on to spawn his first mixtape that same day. Then, on Friday, he would drop off want many view to be his first true classic project, The Warm Up (2009). It’s also one of his most important releases of his journey to superstardom thanks to some key tracks.

“Lights Please,” also one of his earliest hits, was essentially the record that convinced the almighty JAY-Z to sign J Cole to Roc Nation. We can see why this was the one to win him over, as the wordplay and storytelling are top notch. The frustrating accounts of the Dreamville boss being with a woman who only wants her desires met while he tries to develop the relationship by sharing his dreams and stresses is heartbreaking. Because of this, it’s one of Cole’s best “love” records too, if you even want to call it that. There’s no wonder why he put this on The Sideline Story just two years later.

Then all I really want is for her to get on top
Before you know it, she workin’, jerkin’ it nonstop

Tory Lanez Pulls From The 2022 Vault Again For His Newest “Lost Tapes”

Tory Lanez is double dipping for this week’s edition of his “Lost Tapes” series. Over the last few weeks, the Canadian has been beginning to dig up some recordings from 2022. He began rolling this erao ut with a 2019 track, “Blessed.” But Tory has now gone back to these last two years twice on back-to-back occasions. Overall, it’s the most recent vault he’s gone to for these releases. Given the Megan Thee Stallion situation, though, this may be the latest stretch we get to go back to.

Regardless, we are still eager to see what Tory has offer. This weekend, he’s dropped off “The Chase” and “Take It Off.” The former hears the multi-hyphenate drop gems about keeping your focus on the grind and making it big while ignoring the haters and doubters. It feels like he’s talking directly to the listener, making it a very personal and thought-provoking track. Conversely, “Take It Off” is a cute yet provocative love story which features both his singing and rapping. We feel Tory’s got two underrated bops here and he’s keeping out interest in the series for sure.

And you n****s got the nerve to talk to me like you got the same when we check it
Like you got some hits, hits, hits, n****, but I’m the only n**** playin’ Tekken
Sold a million records, fifty-seven seconds for the last time, that I reckon, never disrespect it, n****

Kendrick Lamar Chronicles Some Of His Toughest Career Decisions On “Heart Pt. 6”

“The Heart” series has returned to its rightful owner. With the stunning release of GNX over the weekend, Kendrick Lamar has also taken back his claim to fame. Drake’s attempt to one-up K. Dot at his own game didn’t go so well, as many spectators of the beef were pretty disgusted with it. In fact, him removing “THE HEART PART 6” from his social media further cemented it as the least significant record during the beef. All along, it set things up perfectly for Kendrick Lamar to properly release “heart pt. 6.”

So far, it’s one of the most talked about songs on the tracklist thanks to its detailed chronicling of some important moments. During the near five-minute story, Lamar recalls how his relationships evolved with some of TDE’s current stars such as Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, TDE Punch, and Dave Free. The accounts with Q and Punch are especially raw and inspirational, as Lamar was always learning from everyone at the label no matter their standing within. On the third verse of “heart pt. 6,” Kendrick Lamar then fast forwards things to him becoming a superstar and him “carryin’ debates of a top five.” At this point, Lamar painfully realizes that it may be time to part ways with TDE. He has goals in mind of becoming more than just an MC, and he felt he “poured everything I had left in the family business.” It’s a gripping listen, as Kendrick proves to be a master storyteller time and time again.

To tell the truth, it f***ed me up when D-Man passed
The motive was the condolences, but the pride crashed

Paul Wall Taps Friends For Slang In “Underground Ambassador”

Paul Wall and DJ Fresh assemble a crew of lyricists to give them the opportunity to educate the masses on the latest slang in the new track “Underground Ambassador.” Relying on some familiar faces, the Houston native brings together unique wordsmiths from all four corners of the map. Freeway out of Philly, Berner from the Bay Area, Big K.R.I.T. representing Mississippi, Termanology out of Massachusetts, and Rich The Factor from Kansas City. Everyone on the track delivers a signature slang that describes grinding. The new track is the lead single for Paul Wall’s forthcoming album of the same title.

The latest release follows a lengthy history of collaborations between Paul Wall and Termanology. The two have previously joined forces on two joint albums that included guest appearances by Freeway and Big K.R.I.T. Paul has been guiding Houston hip-hop for years now with his iced-out appeal and catchy lyrics about riding down with the bass rattling. Wall was a part of the original Swish House crew that took over hip-hop in the early 2000s. “Still Trippin,” his hit song with Mike Jones and Slim Thug, turned 20 years old recently. The song’s success would lead to Wall being featured on Ye’s classic “Drive Slow.” Wall’s new album is scheduled for release this month on his own imprint.
