Desiigner Mixes Country & Trap On “Big Dawg”

Desiigner was one of those rappers that was being painted as a one hit wonder. On top of that label, he was also mistakenly being referred to as Future early on in his career. If you ask most casual listeners of the genre about the first time they heard “Panda” they will most likely tell you they thought it was Pluto. For a brief moment, he proved the doubters wrong. But lately Desiigner has gotten lost in the shuffle, and know he is looking to make some stylistic changes on “Big Dawg.”

That switch-up sees him trying his hand at blending country and trap music. This is not anything groundbreaking for hip-hop, but it is cool to see Desiigner experiment a bit. Country and rap crossing paths has become more popular as of late with acts like Shaboozey and JaeyBxrd making some waves. So, it makes sense to continue to push those ideas forward.

Skilla Baby Ramps Up The Energy & Violence On “Free Big Meech”

“I get love in Detroit like Skilla Baby,” is the mood that the rapper should be in because “Free Big Meech” will give him plenty of praise. Skilla is back with a new solo single, which follows up “Plate” from February 2. However, he also been busy with the collaborations as of late too. In 2024, the 25-year-old MC has worked with CRASH RARRI, YN Jay, Sada Baby, Young Ra, Tavo Baby Big6, and Yung Miami. That latter team-up was a successful one for him, as “CFWM (Can’t F*** With Me)” was doing solid numbers when it dropped.

If there is there something to expect going into a Skilla Baby track, it is that you know you are going to get lot of wild energy. That is the case here too on “Free Big Meech.” There is plenty of street talk and violent bars to be had and it is all performed over a chilling trap beat. “Pistol whip a n**** with my blick and leave him cockeyed (Ha) / Put a ten on him, it ain’t s*** to get an opp fried (Ha).”

For Skilla, he has some big shoes to fill after an active 2023 campaign. He tied his record for albums released in a year with two with Controversy and We Eat The Most (Reloaded). Lucky Daye Is Looking To Go All The Way With A Love Interest On “HERicane”

Lucky Daye, a New Orleans, Louisiana based R&B artist, is someone who really picked up steam later in life. The 38-year-old singer and songwriter began to make a name for himself when he auditioned for the hit music television series American Idol back in 2005. Fast forward about 14 years and that was when he dropped his first album Painted. He would go on to be nominated four times at the 62nd GRAMMY Awards for it for Best R&B Album, Best Traditional R&B Performance, as well as Best R&B Song and Best R&B Performance. All of that success has led Lucky Daye to becoming a still underrated, but household name and “HERicane,” his new single, shows why.

This track follows up the incredibly infectious and soulful “That’s You” that dropped back in November. The Bruno Mars and D’Mile produced cut has been on repeat for us since then and we are hoping it is teasing a new album. “HERicane” might be that second offering based on the similar themes of finding true love and wanting to be extremely intimate. On this record, also produced by D’Mile, Lucky Daye is doing what ever he can to draw in this woman with his charm.

All of these efforts he hopes will lead him to getting down and freaky with this woman and entering the “HERicane” so to speak. “This ain’t flirtin’, you deserve it, and you’re worth that much / Heart beat racin’, closin’ spaces, bodies touch / So elated, you’re amazin’.” This story is performed over a groovy guitar instrumental that is more upbeat and pop-inspired, compared to the moodier neo-soul “That’s You.”

Kota the Friend might be the most consistently solid rapper we have going at the moment. The Brooklyn, New Yorker has always impressed us, mainly because of what seems like effortless storytelling. Words just feel like they flow right of the pen when he writes, and they all just fit seamlessly. That happens on this new track from Kota the Friend called “GOOD NUMBERS.”

This follows up a pretty steady stream of releases from him. The last offering we covered from him was the excellent love story single “PNW” (Pacific Northwest). In between “GOOD NUMBERS” and the former, Kota also put out “Bad 4 U” on March 20, just a day after “PNW.” On this new track below, the veteran rapper is seen writing another feel good song about becoming a successful artist and how that can help his loved ones in the future.

Lupe Fiasco Drops Coachella-Inspired Single “Indio” Ahead Of Upcoming Album

Lupe Fiasco has been playing the role of pot stirrer over the past few weeks or so. The legendary lyricist from the Windy City has been practically egging on Kendrick Lamar to respond to him. The “Show Goes On” MC cleared up the meaning behind a string of tweets that he was one of the rappers to apologize publicly to K-Dot. Essentially, he was really walking back his decision because he felt he did not need to be involved. He did not try to deny that he felt Lamar is just “solid.” Lupe Fiasco also subliminally took shots at Lamar during his time on the Coachella stage, and his new single “Indio” is partially based on that.

In the middle of his performance, Lupe announced that he is willing to go toe to toe with any rapper. “I don’t give a f*** how many records you sold. If you want smoke, I swear on my muthaf***in soul, I will walk through n****s. I will chew up n****s, I will body muthaf***as,” Lupe exclaimed. Also during his time slot, the prideful rapper announced his new album Samurai is going to be out sometime this summer, according to HipHopNMore.

So far, he has dropped “LLC,” a lyrically dense track showcasing his elite pen game. Anycia Sounds More Nonchalant Than Ever Before On “BAD WEATHER”

With Atlanta, Georgia being one of the hubs for hip-hop, you already know that there is going to be an abundance of varying talent and styles. Anycia is someone who does not exactly fit into one specific lane. That is apparent through her casual mic presence and lyricism. It has quickly become an easily recognizable sound and it is why she will be cementing her star status very shortly when she releases her debut album. “BAD WEATHER” from Anycia is now most likely the third single from the LP.

Presumably, the first of three dropped back in the latter half of January. That was “BACK OUTSIDE” with fellow femcee Latto which was an absolute banger. Then, in March Anycia would go on to feed the fans twice with “UP, LIT. FREESTYLE” and “NENE’S PRAYER.” With the album dropping on April 26, she is treating people to one more gift with “BAD WEATHER.”

Bankroll Got It and jetsonmade team up for colorful and bouncy throwback-like beat which lays atop Anycia’s subdued delivery. Out of all of the singles so far, this may be one of her most carefree performances, maybe even in her entire career. “BAD WEATHER” seems to be a song about the negativity that can sometimes surround someone and drag them down. It is why the nonchalant approach from Anycia makes sense here, as she does her best to brush off the bad vibes.

Fans have been waiting for this moment, especially after releasing single after single since 2018. We most likely have our next album single from Ray Vaughn called “Blasphemy.”

There is a chance that this is now the fourth teaser from the still unnamed project, with our last offering from him coming back in late March. The one that really caught a lot of people’s attention though is “Problems” with Pusha T. Both were bringing their A-game on that cut. But “Blasphemy” might be the one to overtake it.

The eerie and trap beat is provided some of the best in the business, including Boi-1da and OZ. All of these factors combined give fans a track to have on repeat.

Kalan.FrFr Embodies West Coast Hip-Hop On “EVERYBODY”

For about eight years or so, Los Angeles, California rapper Kalan.FrFr has been putting out signature vibes from the area. His usual chill and calm presence on the microphone is what makes him standout a little bit more from some of the higher energy MCs from the West Coast. His following is not as massive as some other artists from the area, but do not let that dictate whether or not you check out this new song or not.

Kalan.FrFr is back with a new single called “EVERYBODY” and it is out everywhere now. It is his first offering since early February’s “Ain’t No Fun,” and it also follows up his collaboration with 310babii on “stuck.” From what we know “EVERYBODY” and maybe also “Ain’t No Fun,” will be on an upcoming EP for Kalan.FrFr. For now, we have no word on a release date, or how many tracks will make the project.

“EVERYBODY” is a barebones record in terms of the lyrical content, but it brings that bouncy sound from the West we are accustomed to. NLE Choppa Takes Absurdity To New Heights With NSFW Single “SLUT ME OUT 2”

There have been a few rappers lately that have been unapologetic in their music when it comes to their sexuality. One of those is energetic Memphis, Tennessee MC NLE Choppa. Last year, we saw the still 21-year-old dropped songs like “College Girls,” “IT’S GETTING HOT,” a remix of Nelly’s classic, and “SLUT ME OUT.” The latter of those now has a sequel, as NLE Choppa has decided to drop “SLUT ME OUT 2.”

This original version landed on his 2023 project Cottonwood 2, which saw its release nearly a year ago to the day, April 14. In that fairly short period, the sexually-charged song has surprisingly racked up over 322 million streams. To be fair though, it does have a fire beat and Choppa does bring some creative flows and an animated performance. For this next installment, NLE somehow turns things up a notch on “SLUT ME OUT 2.”

Lil Nas X Teases “NASARATI 2” With Infectious Banger “Right There”

Lil Nas X is almost always stirring up controversy online. However, if there is one thing you have to give the guy it is that he knows how write chart-topping songs. We have seen him do it time and time again with tracks like “INDUSTRY BABY,” “MONTERO,” “THAT’S WHAT I WANT,” and so many more. While some hype may have died surrounding the Georgia artist after his 2021 debut LP, he is focused on coming back in full force this year. At some point, Lil Nas X will be dropping a new mixtape, and to promote he has just dropped “Right There.”

However, the single is not available on Spotify and other major platforms, surprisingly. “Right There” is on YouTube and Soundcloud as of now, so it might fly under people’s radars. However, we are here to inform you that it is more than worth finding and listening to. Lil Nas X worked with producer Ojivolta, who helped create the beat for Playboi Carti’s “2024” track not too long ago. He continues to flex his ear for catchy beats as this a special aura about it.

The looping background vocals, rapid fire kick drums and 808s, as well as the horns, allow for Nas X to create a sticky melody and delivery. Those include “J CHRIST” and maybe the documentary exclusive “Where Do We Go Now?”
