Michael Che And Kendrick Lamar Might’ve Been Pushed Into A Beef Following The ‘SNL’ Weekend Update’s ‘Joke Swap’

Kendrick Lamar is the self-proclaimed Boogeyman of rap, but does that extend to the comedian space. While the “Not Like Us” rapper’s feud with Drake is officially over, yesterday (May 17) his next foe might have stepped up to the plate during Saturday Night Live‘s season finale.

To go out with a bang, Colin Jost used the beloved ‘Weekend Update’ segment’s joke swap to rile things up for his co-anchor, Michael Che. As the duo traded off-kilter and at times outright insensitive lines, Che unknowingly walked directly into a potential feud with Kendrick while discussing the rapper’s recent war of words.

“And speaking of b*tches, I wanna call out the biggest b*tches of them all, Kendrick Lamar,” he joked. “Or should I say littlest? Your war with Drake may be over. But your war with Michael Che is just beginning. So, to quote ‘Hamilton,’ shoot your shot player.”

Based on Che’s hesitation to read the script, it is clear Che has kept up with Kendrick’s lethal lines. Although he didn’t want to poke the bear, seemingly out of fear of Kendrick’s reaction, Che was a good sport and powered through the hilarious callout. He then took a moment to praise Jost for the clever setup. “That was pretty well done,” he laughed.

Jake Gyllenhaal And The ‘SNL’ Cast Said Goodbye To Season 49 In Pure ’90s R&B Fashion

49 is big number. Tonight (May 18), Saturday Night Live closed out its 49th season with a bang. Though finishing 49 seasons is a huge milestone, tonight’s host Jake Gyllenhaal was seemingly hoping to be in the running to host the premiere of season 50, which will take place later this year.

But of course, Gyllenhaal was determined to make this finale special. Near the end of his opening monologue, Gyllenhaal broke out into song — a special rework of Boyz II Men‘s ’90s classic, “End Of The Road.”

During his cover, Gyllenhaal surprised the audience with his pipes, delivering strong vocals as he hilariously jokes that Pedro Pascal and Ryan Gosling were asked to host this episode before him (even though they have both previously hosted this past season).

While Gyllenhaal was captivating the audience with his singing, a few of the cast members elevated the performance.

Punkie Johnson, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson, and Devon Walker joined in, giving the song additional harmonies, taking it to the next level.

Although a hosting slot for the season 50 premiere of SNL is highly coveted, the quality of this opening monologue is going to be hard to match.

Maya Rudolph As Beyoncé Couldn’t Handle The Southern Heat In A Hilarious ‘Hot Ones’ Parody On ‘SNL’

Beyoncé can do it all — singing, dancing, acting, and recently, launching a haircare brand. And even though she carries hot sauce in her bag — as she noted on her 2016 hit single “Formation” — it’s possible that even she can’t handle the spice level of the wings on Hot Ones. In a Saturday Night Live sketch tonight (May 10), Mikey Day played Hot Ones host Sean Evans in a parody of the iconic YouTube show. Joining Day was tonight’s (May 11) host, Rudolph, as the one-and-only Beyoncé.

Hot off the release of her latest album, Cowboy Carter, Rudolph’s Beyoncé reminds us that she’s a southern country queen. But the flavor and heat of the wings proves to be too much — even for the Queen Bey.

Rudolph’s Beyoncé takes to the first few wings pretty well. But by the time she tries the “Sergeant Sphincter’s Volcanpeño sauce, with a Scoville rating of 530,000,” she appears to meet her match.

“This wing is stompin’ my ass,” she said. “Damn, my bones are hot. That wing was a real one.”

But thanks to the help of Bey’s loyal assistant, De’Raphael (Kenan Thompson), the world, perhaps, might never see Beyoncé in this rather humbling scenario.

Even Dua Lipa Couldn’t Resist Breaking Down The Drake And Kendrick Lamar Feud During An ‘SNL’ Sketch

Dua Lipa‘s third album Radical Optimism is finally here. But while this weekend is huge for her, she — like most of us — can’t help but get invested in Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s ongoing beef.

In a Saturday Night Live sketch, Lipa plays a culture reporter on a fictional talk show hosted by Mikey Day and Heidi Gardner. Though the hosts are clueless about the beef, Lipa helps by offering some informational tidbits.

“One clue on the song ‘Euphoria,’ when Kendrick describes Drake as Canadian, that’s because Drake is from Toronto,” said Lipa.

While this piece of information is rather obvious, Lipa continued, explaining one of the names Lamar calls Drake on the song.

“And he calls Drake ‘Crodie,’ which is a term used by the Crips,” said Lipa, “which according to Wikipedia is an alliance of street gangs based in Southern California.”

Lipa also touched on one of Drake’s diss records, “Taylor Made Freestyle,” on which, he used artificial intelligence to emulate Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur’s rap stylings. This particular song wasn’t well-received, and could potentially end Drake up in legal trouble.

“Drake is being sued by Tupac’s estate for using an AI version of his voice,” said Lipa.

Day and Gardner continue the sketch, imitating Drake and Lamar — but as one can imagine, it doesn’t end well.

Travis Scott And Playboi Carti Weathered A Dark Storm In A Performance Of ‘Fein’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

In his second performance of the night, Travis Scott took to the Saturday Night Live stage, maintaining his rebellious energy for “Fein” from Utopia.

During “Fein,” Scott turned up the energy after a fairly laid-back performance of “My Eyes,” delivering stunning, trippy visual effects. Obscured by smoke, Scott created an ominous feel. Playboi Carti, who features on the song, made a surprise appearance, matching Scott’s theatrical energy as the two shook the room up.

As Scott is known for his expansive sets, he is seeking to improve his artistry and the visual components of his shows and videos.

In an interview with GQ, Scott revealed he wants to get into Harvard to study architecture.

“I’ve always been into structural design and structural engineering and, you know, trying to just build all different type of things, right?” he said. “When you start seeing how odd things can be shaped and then see how they can structurally work, it’s interesting. And I’m always trying to be like an ultimate problem solver. A lot of things intrigue me. Like, I’m doing rehearsals now and I’m always asking questions about even just structural and staging and how it can be built.”

You can see a clip of the performance of “Fein” above.
