DJ Akademiks Says He Still Doubts Tory Lanez Shot Megan Thee Stallion

DJ Akademiks says he remains “kinda a little doubtful” that Tory Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. The Toronto rapper was convicted of three felony charges related to shooting, late last year. He faces up to 22 years and 8 months in prison. Akademiks discussed his case during a recent interview with VladTV.

“I thought [Tory Lanez] didn’t do it. I’m still kinda a little doubtful, but the verdict is the verdict,” DJ Akademiks admitted in the interview. “I think the people who were reporting at court at that time were biased.”

DJ Akademiks went on to note that even Drake was in agreement with him. “We even had Drake who said, ‘The chick is lying,’ And he took some flack for it,” he explained. “It became one of those things where the majority of the industry was like, ‘You know what? This Tory guy might be innocent.’” Drake had rapped on “Circo Loco”: “This b*tch lied about gettin’ shots, but she still a stallion. She don’t even get the joke, but she still smilin’.”

While it’s true that many artists in the industry side with Lanez, the same can be said for Megan Thee Stallion. Even Drake’s Her Loss partner, 21 Savage, recently voiced his support for Megan. “Wish I could give Megan a hug praying for you [heart emoji],” he posted on Twitter. Mozzy Reportedly Arrested In Wichita Less Than Two Months After Prison Release

Mozzy fans were overjoyed when the West Coast rapper completed his 10-month prison sentence in early May. As we reported last summer, he turned himself in on federal gun charges. Still, he didn’t let being behind bars stop him from dropping bars of his own. He collaborated with friends like Baby Money and Celly Ru and left us seriously impressed with his own Kollect Kall EP back in April. Mozzy has been busy celebrating since his spring homecoming. Unfortunately, that came to an end early on Sunday (July 2) morning, when he was reportedly arrested.

Footage of the 36-year-old being detained by police in the dead of night has been appearing online. “Maaan @MozzyThaMotive came out to our city Wichita, [Kansas] for a dope a** show,” one user wrote along with their video. “Went to [an] after party and then got arrested. SMH, free Mozzy yo, f**k 12.” According to ABC News, the nightclub where the recording artist was partying was actually the scene of a shooting that left seven people shot and two trampled.

Kansas Nightclub Shooting Sees Mozzy’s Arrest

The venue is located at 222 North Washington Street. As gunfire rang out, screaming was heard coming from inside at 12:58 AM. Lt. Aaron Moses, Executive Officer of the Wichita Police Department spoke with the outlet, confirming that one person remains in critical condition. Other victims (ranging in age from 21 to 34) were transported to local hospitals for treatment and are expected to be fine.

ABC notes that “one person has been detained for questioning at this time,” though Mozzy specifically wasn’t named. However, with the videos showing the Oak Park native in the same area at the same time being detained, it’s not hard to piece the puzzle together. YNW Melly Case: Detective States That Shooting Wasn’t A Drive-By

The latest update in the YNW Melly double murder trial points to him staging a drive-by shooting to cover up the deaths of YNW Juvy and YNW SakChaser, of which he’s accused. Moreover, a forensic study of the crime scene and a testimony from detective Sgt. Christopher Williams on Wednesday (June 28) supported that claim. Furthermore, these suggested that the bullets that fatally struck both men came from inside the vehicle they rode in, not from outside. As such, now the Florida rapper’s side of the story saw a challenge from the prosecution, and it’s unclear whether there will be further investigation. Regardless, the court heard from the detective on the witness stand, and he gave his assessment.

“The shooting happened from somebody inside the car,” Williams stated while describing the crime scene. In addition, he believes that “the angles” at which the bullets struck Juvy and SakChaser “did not change,” and that he probably overlooked these details because he initially tested the scene for a drive-by. Also, he explained that a bullet stuck Juvy in the head at close range from his left in “the middle of his cheek” while looking ahead. “Part of the wound had an abrasion ring on it,” the sergeant stated as he brought up the “tattoo of the stippling” as proof against YNW Melly.

YNW Melly Accused Of Staging Drive-By Shooting

Previously, Judge John Murphy saw footage of the “223’s” MC sitting behind the victims in the Jeep Cherokee. What’s more is that the jury heard from medical examiners that determined that both men suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the head after their autopsy. Prosecutors also showed text messages from YNW Melly asking for a gun from his mother two months before the alleged murder. With all this in mind, the 24-year-old’s case is unraveling ominously for him, although he scored some small victories.

For example, the court ruled another forensics report invalid due to the prosecution failing to report its discovery. As such, any evidence or conclusions gathered from that will not be allowed to be used in court. The pair were facing charges in the death of Jeremy Brown. However, prosecutors have since dropped them and been hit with a lawsuit from Mrs. Hood. Many have been weighing in on the controversial situation, in which Carlishia’s teenage son likely saved her life while she was being brutally attacked. In her IG post, Minaj commended the young man for his actions and even extended an incredibly generous offer. “That 14-year-old boy that backed [that] hammer out when that grown a** man was punching his mother in the face as if she were a MAN is a true hero,” she wrote this afternoon.

Blueface Pleads Guilty In Las Vegas Shooting Case

On Monday (June 26), according to The Review Journal, Blueface went to court in what was expected to be a preliminary hearing for his Las Vegas shooting. For those unaware, the rapper fired shots at a man who made a bad joke against his crew outside of a Vegas club in October of 2022. Moreover, in this hearing, opposing parties met to determine whether there was enough evidence to press charges. However, the California MC ended up pleading guilty in this case and took the case to a whole other phase. Furthermore, he did so on one felony count of firing a gun at an occupied vehicle and one misdemeanor battery charge.

To elaborate, according to these reports, Blueface will formally enter plea on July 3. What’s more is that prosecutor Nick Portz expressed that the state of Nevada is open to considering a probation sentence for the incident. Of course, this consideration applies to whenever the “BDD” artist formally enters his plea. In addition, it seems like this new deal will see authorities drop all other charges against him for the altercation.

Regardless, this legal development failed to provide further details on what went down, since it was already well-known. According to TMZ, who obtained alleged legal documents, Blueface found himself at the Euphoric Gentlemen’s Club in Vegas in October of last year. When his alleged victim joked about ““some females in a cheap vehicle” he was talking to, the rhymer’s crew reportedly attacked him. As the victim sped off, he allegedly shot at his truck. Still, as of writing this article, another civil lawsuit connected to this incident is still up in the air.

Meanwhile, the alleged owner of the club blasted the rapper for his actions, claiming that he forced them to close the establishment. In an Instagram message, he expressed wishes to see Blue in prison for “the rest of his life” or “pay [them] until the day he leaves this earth.” With all this mind, it’s surprising that the case will apparently resolve quickly. Hunxho Reportedly Arrested After Shooting At His ATL Birthday Bash

June isn’t over yet, but already it’s been one of the busiest months in terms of hip-hop and crime. We’ve had our eye on the YSL/YFN RICO trials for months now. In addition, YNW Melly’s double murder proceedings have seen plenty of ups and downs. Elsewhere, Boosie Badazz, Quando Rondo, and Jacquees were put behind bars (only the second artist remains there – the other two have since bonded out). As if all of that weren’t enough chaos to take in, reports claim that Hunxho was arrested in Atlanta on Saturday (June 24) night.

Footage obtained by @newsmadeit on Instagram shows officers at Lyfe ATL nightclub, where a shooting took place during the producer’s celebration. In the clip, a group of police run swarm toward the scene of the crime. We also see people and various cars waiting outside to see what would happen next. A truck that was in the area at the time seems to have taken some bullets, and at least one person was hit though their condition remains unknown at this time

Moments later, it’s been said that Hunxho was arrested for alleged gun possession. Another video taken last night shows the “48 Laws of Power” artist being held down on the ground by an officer. “Why they lock him up?” a female voice asks from being the camera. “They said Hunxho had a gun in his hand,” another woman explained.

The news is particularly unfortunate considering it comes little more than a year after the 24-year-old beat RICO charges. “Been fighting this RICO for FOUR YEARS,” he wrote on his Instagram Story in May 2022. “Dis s**t don’t even feel real right now .”

No Savage Receives Three-Year Prison Sentence For Mall Shooting

DC MC No Savage just received a three-year prison sentence for firing a gun in a Virginia mall, AllHipHop reports. Moreover, Steve Descano (Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney) announced the decision on Friday (June 23). In addition, authorities sentenced him to ten years of probation and barred him from going to the Tysons Corner Center mall. Earlier this year, the 23-year-old (real name Noah Settles) pleaded guilty to three counts of malicious discharge of a firearm in an occupied building and one count of using a firearm in felony commission. Before this decision, Settles faced up to 43 years in prison.

“Today, the justice system has shown that perpetrators of gun violence will be held accountable for their actions,” attorney Descano expressed via a statement, speaking on the dangers of No Savage’s actions. “Firing a gun into a public space is a serious crime, one that endangered our community members and threatened their future sense of safety. In cases like these, it is the prosecutor’s job to ensure accountability and use the tools at our disposal to prevent this sort of dangerous incident from happening again.”

Still, prosecutors in the case wanted the DMV native to serve a much harsher sentence as a result. While they sought 15 years of prison time for Settles, the judge in this case decided to issue the mandatory minimum sentence. For those unaware, this incident first came up almost exactly a year ago to the day in June of 2022, when authorities named No Savage as a suspect in a Tysons Corner Center shooting. Furthermore, he opened fire inside the commercial hub and, fortunately, no one was hit. However, three individuals sustained injuries as a result of the evacuation of the premises.

Meanwhile, his legal troubles haven’t put a complete stop to the 23-year-old’s music career. As early as December of last year, he released new material, namely the song “Portfolio,” on streaming services. Now he faced a large speed bump in that regard, and thus the future of his career is uncertain despite the sentence’s short duration in comparison to what sources initially reported. 14 Year Old Rapper Lil Tuda Shot & Killed In Chicago

A 14-year-old rapper who performs under the name Lil Tuda was shot and killed in Chicago over the weekend. He and another boy were both shot on Saturday with the other boy remaining in critical condition. According to HipHopDx Lil Tuda, whose real name is Timothy Lockhart was shot in the head at 4:45 p.m. and pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital shortly after. Community activist Andrew Holmes described the event as a tragedy, drawing particular note to the fact that it occurred over the Juneteenth weekend.

Holmes further called for Lil Tuda’s killers to be brought to justice. “Father’s Day, Juneteenth, celebrating for what? Until we can stop this gun violence, Black-on-Black crime, and get these individuals in custody, then talk to me. But, we got two babies, two babies here.” A tweet made later by the 16th And 17th District Chicago Police Scanner clarified some of Lil Tuda’s alleged gang affiliations. The tweet described him as “a self proclaimed rapper and member of the DMG (Dirty Money Gang), a set of Gangster Disciples and Black P Stones.”

Back in April another Chicago rapper, Lil Ronald was shot and killed. Ronald was also just 14 years old at the time of the shooting. Back in 2021, Chief Keef collaborator Edai was also shot and killed in Chicago. The city’s most high-profile case in recent years was that of FBG Duck. He was shopping in luxury stores when a group of men pulled up in two vehicles and shot at Duck and two other men.

Anytime a shooting happens in the drill scene fans are often reminded of Pop Smoke’s tragic slaying. Smoke was staying in a rented house in Hollywood Hills when multiple men broke into the house to commit a robbery. The incident turned deadly when the 20-year-old Pop Smoke was shot and ultimately declared dead. Rot Ken Arrested On Murder & Aggravated Assault Charges In Connection With April Shooting

While all the new music that’s been dropping certainly has our attention, what’s really been taking over the world of rap news lately is a serious crime spree. Both the YSL RICO and YNW Melly’s double murder trials are currently unfolding, and Tory Lanez is still awaiting sentencing after he was jailed for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in late 2022. In addition to those, we saw Boosie Badazz get picked up by federal agents earlier this week. Now, Blanco Tarantino TV reports that 19-year-old rapper Rot Ken has also been taken into custody.

The up-and-coming Atlanta artist – born Kenneth Williams – is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault. Allegations against him stem from a shooting on April 26, ultimately resulting in the death of 24-year-old Usaini Yunusa. 20-year-old Kobe Burns was injured at the time too but thankfully managed to recover. Police reports reveal that the gunfire took place around 6 PM at The Estates at Perimeter on St. Andrews Drive. The accused killers are said to have taken aim at the victims in their vehicle from another car.

Rot Ken’s Mugshot Surfaces Online

Burns, who was allegedly intoxicated when the shooting started, quickly fled the scene. Unfortunately, it wasn’t long before he crashed into trees near Interstate Parkway and was later transported to the hospital. There is apparently another suspect connected to the case alongside Ken, though their identity hasn’t been released at this time. Information remains mostly sparse at this time. However, it has been noted that the late Yunusa previously served prison time in Cobb County for weapons-related offences, drug dealing, and gang activity.

As for Rot Ken, he was served his murder warrant while already behind bars for an offence related to his probation. His past criminal record contains convictions including possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, burglary, an theft by receiving stolen property. Elsewhere in the realm of crime and hip-hop, a Memphis man named CEO Teezy was killed earlier this month. His unexpected death came shortly after he was publicly named a person of interest in Young Dolph’s murder, which still remains unsolved by authorities. Finesse2Tymes Afterparty In Atlanta Reportedly Disrupted By Shooting

An Atlanta afterparty reportedly hosted by Finesse2Tymes allegedly resulted in a shooting, and a clip surfaced online of patrons running out of the venue. Moreover, the Memphis MC performed at the city’s Hot 107.9 Birthday Bash, which featured a host of other artists. As of writing this article, very little details emerged as to this incident other than the online clip, so it would be wise to take the footage with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, this wouldn’t be the first instance of this nature to take place at one of the rapper’s events. Back in January, two people received charges for a shooting that left three injured after a fight broke out at one of his shows.

On the other hand, other antics reported in relation to his live shows have fortunately been less life-threatening. For example, Finesse2Tymes recently blasted a concert promoter for not having enough money for him to perform at a scheduled show. While many reacted with little sympathy, given that it still resulted in a canceled show, it goes to show that these live settings bring about a lot of complications behind the scenes. Hopefully this latest reported incident wasn’t as a result of those responsible for the afterparty.

Regardless, the 31-year-old’s live shows tragically represented what incidents could happen at a concert. His show with GloRilla resulted in a crowd surge that caused three deaths and other injuries. Both artists expressed their sympathies to the families of those lost, and recent developments hint at an incoming lawsuit. These incidents all occurred under different circumstances for different reasons, and it goes to show the unpredictability and danger that artists like Finesse2Tymes and promoters have to look out for with a heavy heart.

Meanwhile, these might be circumstances that many believed to cause the rapper to skip his own events. To elaborate, he responded to claims that he sent his brother out to perform at a club in his place, calling cap on all accusations.
