Shannon Sharpe Claims He Nearly Hit Skip Bayless During Tom Brady Debate

While appearing on The Stephen A. Smith Show, Shannon Sharpe recalled a time in 2022 when he nearly came to physical blows with former co-host Skip Bayless. The moment came during an episode of Undisputed when Bayless took a jab at Sharpe about “having to stop at 35” in comparison to Tom Brady, who played well into his 40s. Despite being a seventh-round pick, Sharpe became one of the best tight ends in NFL history. He won three Super Bowls before he retired. Sharpe’s unamused reaction was a rare break in his demeanor on the show. He explained to Smith that he had to restrain himself from “putting his hands” on Bayless.

“Why would I be jealous of Tom Brady? I’m happy that Tom — Tom was like me, given an opportunity, he made the most of that opportunity. I think that was, in all of my TV career, I remember going home, calling my sister, I called my brother, my homeboy, everybody had told him, he raced home, he’d watch it. It took a lot. It took a lot for me not to put my hands on him, it actually did,” Sharpe said. Smith, whose show First Take Sharpe has since joined, joked he was thankful Sharpe didn’t resort to blows because it wouldn’t have gone well for Bayless.

Sharpe Helps First Take Pummel Undisputed In The Ratings

Figures from September between First Take and Undisputed show that the Shannon Sharpe Effect is very much a thing. Viewership figures from September 12 show that First Take received 717,000 viewers. Shannon Sharpe Believes Selena Gomez Used Him To Hide From The Paparazzi

Shannon Sharpe has spoken out about the viral incident from earlier this week when he was ditched by photographers because of the appearance of Selena Gomez. While speaking with Chad Johnson, Sharpe joked that he believes Gomez’s team was using him to “distract” the press away from the singer and actress. He elaborated, suggesting that they had Selena leave right after he did so she could get away unnoticed. Sharpe admitted that he wasn’t especially familiar with Gomez but would have asked for a selfie if he had known who she was.

It was a rather funny moment when the video emerged earlier this week. Sharpe was right in the middle of an interview with TMZ and other outlets when the reporters suddenly abandoned him to grab photos and quotes from Gomez. Even funnier was the fact that several reporters actually returned to continue speaking with Sharpe after Gomez had departed. Sharpe told Johnson that he had just been trying out a new restaurant but. Furthermore, he joked that the whole experience had him eyeing DoorDash instead.

Sharpe Refuses To Believe Chad Johnson And A$AP Rocky Are Cousins

However, Sharpe telling his side of the Selena Gomez story wasn’t the only wild thing to come out of his interview with Johnson. Johnson claimed that he and A$AP Rocky are cousins, saying that their grandmothers are sisters. However Sharpe didn’t believe it. “I’m closer to a Rottweiler than you are to A$AP Rocky,” Sharpe told the Bengals legend. The two argued back and forth, with Johnson insisting that he was telling the truth.

Despite Johnson’s insistence Sharpe refused to believe him. “You know who my cuh is?” Sharpe asked, baiting Johnson into a trap, “You know my cuh is? Drake. Drake my cuh.” Johnson seemed pretty over the whole thing as Sharpe continued not to believe him. “I’ll just wait for him to come out after this come out and confirm it.”

Shannon Sharpe Rips Giannis Antetokounmpo Over Recent “Winner” Comments

Shannon Sharpe didn’t appreciate Giannis Antetokounmpo’s recent comments about how he’s a winner before he’s a Milwaukee Buck. “You got a new coach, Adrian Griffin, give him a chance. You gave Mike Budenholzer a chance. And, you got your brother occupying two roster spots. Oh, we gonna talk about that? You know that your brothers probably ain’t going to be playing for any team in the NBA other than Milwaukee, and that’s only because of you. You can keep talking about surrounding you with talent but there are two spots that are occupied by your brothers,” Sharpe said in a passionate rant on First Take.

However, Sharpe is a little off the mark with this take. Only one of Giannis’ brothers is currently rostered with the Bucks. Alex Antetokounmpo was signed and waived by the Bucks earlier this month. As for Thanasis, he was a benchwarmer to be sure in 2022-23. Still, he managed 43% shooting in about 5 minutes per game and is clearly good enough to at least warrant a bench place on a deep Bucks team. Furthermore, Giannis has a valid point – the Bucks are a good team that doesn’t spend money. Who was the last great free agent they signed? They rely heavily on depth rotation and for Giannis and Khris Middleton to be healthy.

Giannis’ Recent History Of Hot Takes

However, it’s not the only spicy thing Giannis has said in recent weeks. Earlier this month, the Greek star co-signed Noah Lyles comments about the US. “He received so much backlash for saying, like, the obvious, but some people don’t understand it. I don’t know, maybe it’s like an arrogance thing,” Giannis told the 48 Minutes podcast. “I don’t think in any other sport you are called the world champions. Like in soccer, which is way bigger than the NBA, more popular than the NBA, when the Champions League, the UEFA Champions League champions … they don’t say [they’re] world champion. When they win the World Cup, they play against the USA team, they play against the teams around the world, countries around the world. Then they say world champs,” Giannis said.

Giannis did not play in the FIBA World Cup due to injury. Greece, ranked 9th in the world, finished 15th in a disappointing showing. However, they will have another chance to qualify for the Paris Olympics next June. Giannis has expressed his desire to represent his country at the Olympic Games.

Chris Brown Claims He’s Better At Basketball Than J. Cole

The cross-sections between rap and basketball are pretty apparent. Plenty of rappers are huge basketball fans with affiliations to their local teams but others take it even further. Rappers like Quavo and Common have participated in the NBA All-Star game and played so well they took home the MVP Award. The rapper who is likely most associated with professional basketball now is J. Cole. He spent a few years pursuing a professional career in the sport a full decade after making it as a rapper. While Cole admits that it was fun to indulge, he’s since shifted his focus elsewhere.

Despite his status as one of rap music’s definitive ballers, Chris Brown thinks he can beat Cole 1 on 1. In a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast the singer insisted that he could out-hoop Cole. Much of their conversation during the show revolves around basketball and it’s actually Sharpe that prompts Brown with the question. Brown gave Cole his credit, but ultimately picked himself. “I know he works with a couple other guys I’ve worked with, too, as far as basketball training. He’s amazing. I’m still not gonna doubt me, now. Give me a week of practice. I think I got him.” Check out the full conversation below.

Chris Brown Thinks He’s Got J. Cole 1 On 1

That isn’t the only attention grabbing thing Chris Brown said on Sharpe’s podcast. While on the show he claimed that he has over 15k unreleased songs in the vault. Even for an artist as prolific as Brown, that seems like a lot. Fans online were quick to protest the number he claimed.

Brown was also at the center of a new viral meme from Selena Gomez. The singer’s negative reaction to him being nominated for a VMA award quickly made the rounds online even as she expressed her dissatisfaction with being a meme. Do you think Chris Brown is right about being able to beat J. Cole at basketball? Let us know in the comment section below.

Chris Brown Says He Believes Himself To Be A “Good Person”

Chris Brown says that he’s confident that he’s a “good person,” but isn’t concerned whether the public feels the same way. He spoke about his image during a recent interview with Shannon Sharpe on the former NFL star’s Club Shay Shay podcast. The topic began with Sharpe bringing up the idea of redemption as a celebrity.

“Yeah, so I smile,” Brown said, when Sharpe mentioned him still being able to make money. “I think people think I have a careless outlook on it. It’s not that I have a careless outlook. It’s that I don’t care to make you believe that I’m a great person or a good person,” he said. From there, he explained that he doesn’t put up with nonsense. “I try to stay in my lane, get outta the way, don’t bother nobody. But I’m not gonna take no nonsense.”

Chris Brown Says He Has 15k Unreleased Songs In The Vault

It’s no secret that not everything an artist makes reaches the public eye. In particular, some artists like Playboi Carti, and Lil Uzi Vert have created an entire secondary market for leaks of unreleased music. But one artist in particular has made it a point to brag about how many unreleased songs he’s recorded, Chris Brown. In a recent appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, he made the claim that he has over 15k songs recorded that haven’t been released. While Brown has always been a pretty prolific recording artist, those numbers are hard to believe even for him. Check out the full clip below.

Chris Brown was part of a viral meme that emerged overnight from the VMAs. Throughout the broadcast the cameras repeatedly cut to Selena Gomez for her reactions on, everything happening. In one particular moment when they were announcing the R&B nominees she had a memorable reaction. Brown was nominated for the award for his song alongside Chloe, “How Does It Feel.” When his name was read out, Gomez visibly frowned which the internet immediately picked up and ran with.

Chris Brown Makes Wild Claim About His Vault

On a different podcast appearance last week Chris Brown reminisced on opening for Beyonce on tour. With all the talk this summer about Bey’s ongoing Renaissance tour he reflected on serving as her opening act all the way back in 2007. In the clip he’s sure to give Beyonce her flowers, calling her the “GOAT” and pointing out how much he paid attention to her stage presence in order to learn how to perform.

Brown was also compared to another legend in Michael Jackson. 50 Cent took to Instagram to share a painting of Brown being handed down the crown from Michael directly. Unsurprisingly, fans in the comments were pretty critical of both 50 and Brown for the post. Do you think Chris Brown is telling the truth when he claims to have 15k songs in the vault? Let us know in the comment section below.

Mad Dog Dedicates “First Take” Rant Segment To Stephen A. Smith And Shannon Sharpe’s Bromance

Chris “Mad Dog” Russo took a couple of shots at the new First Take bromance in his latest “What Are You Mad About?”, his weekly rant segment on First Take. After ranting about the Giants, he took aim at the Stephen A. Smith-Shannon Sharpe bromance. “I really felt we’d come a long way since I got a text a year and a half ago saying “Doggy, can you come in and do First Take,” MD began his third point of the segment. And then all of a sudden, Shannon Sharpe is his blood brother? He takes him to Boulder, Colorado. He didn’t ask me to go.” Mad Dog’s rant became more and more unhinged as he pointed out all of the special treatment things Smith and Sharpe received while in Boulder over the weekend.

Obviously, the whole thing was in good faith and Smith was nearly crying with laughter as Mad Dog lost it more and more. However, it’s nice to see what an expanded and good-natured family First Take has become. Smith has really cultivated a good atmosphere within the Bristol-based group and it’s really paying off in both the entertainment value and the ratings.

Smith Drops Sharpe Bombshell

However, Mad Dog’s reaction is not the only thing about Smith and Sharpe that has been making headlines. During a recent conversation with Joe Budden. During the podcast episode, Smith claimed that he doesn’t view his acquisition of Shannon Sharpe as poaching or anything like that because Sharpe “didn’t leave of his own volition”. It’s the first major behind-the-scenes claim about the atmosphere at Undisputed prior to Sharpe’s departure.

However, it makes sense. It’s an open secret at this point that Skip Bayless has been seeking more and more control over his flagship show at FS1. It’s likely that Bayless wanted Sharpe out so that he could restructure the show to once again put himself at the top of the pecking order. This is supported by the fact several people were considered and rejected to replace Sharpe and most were rejected on the basis that they would be too much of an equal opponent for Bayless. Instead, Bayless reportedly wants easy wins when it comes to his debate partners.

Sharpe Still Acclimatizing To First Take

Meanwhile, Sharpe appears to still be getting used to his new life at First Take. Earlier this week, Sharpe once again called Smith “Skip” during a debate. While Sharpe was evidently embarrassed about it, Smith brushed it off. It’s happened a couple of times since Sharpe began appearing on the show on September 4. It’s become something of a minor meme at this point. Furthermore, Smith even went as far as to defend Sharpe from the people calling him out about the mistake.

“Will folks calm the F$&@ down please. The man (@ShannonSharpe) worked with Skip for 2 1/2 hours every single weekday for 6 1/2 YEARS! I’m surprised he hasn’t called me Skip more. Honest mistake. Nobody is fazed this way! So long as he shows up to @FirstTake when I ask, we are good! #TRUST,” Smith wrote on X. How do you think Sharpe is doing? Let us know in the comments.
