Sexyy Red Compared To Michael Jackson By TikToker, Rap Diva Has Epic Response

Much like Ice Spice, hip-hop has seen a rapid come-up unfolding for Sexyy Red over the past few months. While she certainly hasn’t taken things to the same level the 23-year-old is at, she did match her “Princess Diana (Remix)” with Nicki Minaj by recruiting the Queen of Rap to join forces with her for “Pound Town 2.” In addition to that, NLE Choppa has been showing Sexyy plenty of love as she continues to grow, as has Travis Scott. The latter brought the salacious spitter out during his set at Wireless Festival earlier this month. They were later seen turning up at the club together, with Latto also in attendance.

Like most female rappers, the Missouri-born artist has gotten her share of hate too, mostly for the NSFW nature of her content. Regardless of what critics have to say, however, Red continues to move forward with total confidence, which is exactly what listeners admire about her. In particular, her work has caught the eye of TikTok star Aliyah, who’s also known for pushing boundaries with her bold fashion choices. Seeing as the two embody similar energy, it’s really no surprise to find out that the social media influencer is one of Sexyy’s biggest fans.

Sexyy Red Makes the Perfect Pun

“Sexyy Red is my Michael Jackson,” Aliyah tweeted just a few days ago, making it clear that the redhead is someone she looks up to. While not everyone was able to understand where the TikToker is coming from with her comparison, the 25-year-old saw it as an opportunity to crack the perfect joke. “HeeYee!!!” Red wrote back, referencing her incredibly popular “SkeeYee” single, as well as Jackson’s iconic adlib.

As Sexyy Red continues to crack the internet up with her candid commentary and perfect puns, others are using songs from her Hood Hottest Princess album to earn some attention of their own. Among them is 41-year-old La La Anthony, who faced criticism for twerking along to one of the St. Louis native’s most popular songs in a now-deleted TikTok. Read all about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

A Video Of Sexyy Red Visiting A School Sparked Some Online Outrage, So The Rapper Responded

Over the weekend, Sexyy Red posted a throwback video on social media of her meeting fans at a high school in St. Louis. In the clip, as soon as she walks through the doors, students go wild and jump from their seats in the bleachers to say hi to her.

Then, someone from the staff can be heard trying to calm the commotion down. “What school should I go to next it’s been a minute!” she captioned the clip.

However, social media users weren’t exactly pleased about the choice to have her interacting with high school students — purely because of the explicit nature of her lyrics.

“None of sexyy red’s lyrics are high or middle school appropriate. Imagine singing my coochie pink, my bootyhole brown in front of 13-17 year olds,” one user commented with crying emojis.

Others think there’s a double standard when she didn’t perform for the students. “Male rappers legit go to high schools all the time with their woman hating ass songs and y’all complaining about an old video of Sexyy Red going to a high school to give out prom money. What a dumb ass bunch,” another wrote.

Sexyy Red eventually heard about the internet debate and decided to clarify things about her appearance on a post from The Shade Room. She also posted a similar message on Twitter.

“I actually didn’t perform it was a prom week and I went up there to give the girls bundles and boys money for haircuts cause I remember when I needed help wit my prom stuff!” she wrote. “Pay attention to the fellas behind me with gags in their hands… shout @princebeautysupply for helping me make this happen… SEXYY LOVE DA KIDS.”

Her tweet shared yesterday (July 16) reads, “Y’all do know I went there to give the boys money for they haircuts and girls bundles for prom week cause I remember when I needed help with my prom stuff.”

NLE Choppa Stands Up For Sexyy Red Against Haters

Despite having a breakthrough year in 2023, Sexyy Red still deals with her fair share of haters. During the BET Awards a few weeks ago she performed and proved that a lot of major names are on her side. Included among them is Nicki Minaj who cosigned her biggest hit “Pound Town” by hopping on the song’s remix “Pound Town 2.” Now she’s got another major ally in NLE Choppa. The rapper has been seeing some of the hate for Red online and came to her defense.

In a tweet posted yesterday, NLE Choppa told fans to think twice before hating. “Y’all don’t know how comments can effect someone everyday life. Keep being you @SexyyRed314_ don’t change for nobody but yourself! You know I’m supporting!” He attached a video to the tweet further explaining his distaste for haters targeting Sexyy Red. Unsurprisingly, some fans weren’t convinced. The comments are full of further debate as to whether or not Sexyy Red has done the right things to avoid the hate.

NLE Choppa Takes On Sexyy Red Haters

NLE Choppa drew attention to another tweet just yesterday. Amid many major artists selling their entire catalogs, Choppa argued that he could sell his for $1 billion. Many fans rushed to point out that even artists with longer and more successful discographies failed to net that much money. It also sparked debate about how and when artists should make decisions to make the sale of all their masters.

NLE Choppa has kept fans satisfied on the musical front as well. Back in April, he released his new album Cottonwood 2. The project has a stacked list of guests providing featured verses. 2Rare, Lola Brooke, Lil Wayne, Fivio Foreign, Kevin Gates, Polo G, G Herbo, Rick Ross, and more all show up in the tracklist. Shortly afterward he dropped a deluxe edition of the album which features his hit song “Slut Me Out” with Sexyy Red. What do you think of NLA Choppa taking a stand against Sexyy Red’s haters? Let us know in the comment section below.

Sexyy Red & Sukihana Are Tasha K’s Latest Trolling Victims

Even after facing serious legal ramifications for defamatory comments she made about Cardi B, Tasha K still hasn’t gotten a handle on her Twitter fingers. The embattled entertainer has continued to trade shots with the New Yorker online after the former declared bankruptcy, having hardly made a dent in the millions she still owes the latter. As she scrambles to bring in more income, Tasha has found more targets for her bullying – Sukihana and Sexyy Red.

“I can’t believe that in #HoCultureMusic, #SexyyRed would ever outsell over #Suki, who’s been drinking bodily fluids on camera way longer than Red!” @unwinewithtasha tweeted earlier this weekend. “🙈 Is Suki too old? Out of touch? A #NickiFeature is a big deal, y’all think that if she didn’t do that cameo with #FlyLikeABird she would be much further? Why didn’t #FlyLikeABird jump on a song with #Suki?” the content creator further asked her followers.

Upon seeing the message, Suki admitted that Tasha’s taunting got her in her feelings. “I cried about this yesterday, but I prayed and today I spent time with my kids before hopping on a flight to do shows all weekend,” the reality starlet responded in a tweet of her own. “I’m thankful I can provide for my children, I remember having $5 in my pocket while pregnant with two children. Everyone has their time.”

Elsewhere online, the controversial YouTuber got a response from Sexyy Red for dissing her BET Awards outfit. “Thanks for the mention boo 💋,” the Hood Hottest Princess hitmaker wrote in the comments. “But get ‘cho facts right,” she added. “What facts? The price of the outfit?” Tasha hit back.

Sexyy Red DMs Chief Keef & Lil Baby, Twerks, And Throws Racks In “Looking For The H*es (Ain’t My Fault)” Video

Sexyy Red is enjoying her moment in the spotlight lately, revelling not only in the enjoyment of working with Nicki Minaj on “Pound Town 2,” but also appearing at the BET Awards alongside so many of our favourite artists. At one point in the evening, the rising starlet gave a performance in the aisles, with a very pregnant Chrisean Rock happily twerking on her as hip-hop’s finest cheered them on. While she didn’t have a new release for us this New Music Friday, Red did have a music video for one of her Hood Hottest Princess album that’s sure to catch your attention.

In the NSFW video for “Looking For The H*es (Ain’t My Fault),” we see the salacious spitter DMing both Chief Keef and Lil Baby, making it clear that she’s on a mission to find a man. Elsewhere in the clip, we see Red twerking and throwing racks while on the counter with friends before letting loose and getting ratchet during a pool party and at the club. “I’m so f**kin’ sexy, you can’t even fake it / Got that ni**a nuttin’ and I think his a** was Haitian,” are just some of her wild lyrics.

Sexyy Red Shares New Visual from Hood Hottest Princess

As Uproxx notes, “Looking For The H*es” samples Silkk The Shocker’s 1998 single, “It Ain’t My Fault,” earning Red tons of love from hip-hop heads. Her debut mixtape has brought in far more success than Red anticipated, including collaborations with ATL Jacob, Juicy J, Sukihana, and Tay Keith. It’s only the beginning for the controversial starlet, but fingers crossed she has more fire coming our way as she continues to grow as a creative.

Sexyy Red Has No Limits In Her Unfiltered ‘Looking For The H*es (Ain’t My Fault)’ Video

Coming hot on the heels of her show-stealing appearance at the BET Awards, St. Louis rapper Sexyy Red makes another bid for the song of the summer with the unfiltered video for “Looking For The H*es (Ain’t My Fault)” video. As suggested by the song’s title, the chorus borrows the famed call and response from Silkk The Shocker’s 1998 single “It Ain’t My Fault.” There are no limits in the video either (heh) as Red and her girls twerk, shake, and pop for the camera at a house party.

“Looking For The H*es” appears on Sexyy Red’s debut mixtape Hood Hottest Princess alongside her breakout hits “Born By The River” and “Pound Town 2” featuring Nicki Minaj. The tape, released by Heavy On It and Open Shift Distribution, also features ATL Jacob, Juicy J, Sukihana, and Tay Keith.

In the wake of the tape’s release, Red has already begun to experience the highs and lows of fame. She was recently added to the lineup of the Days Of Summer Cruise Festival — undoubtedly a “high” — but also found herself cutting off a performance after fans threw objects on stage. But, as she says in the song, that ain’t her fault. For the time being, she seems comfortable continuing to be herself — exactly the thing that got her here in the first place.

Watch Sexyy Red’s “Looking For The H*es (Ain’t My Fault)” video above.

Sexyy Red Will Join Fat Joe And Lil Baby On The Days Of Summer Cruise Fest

The Days Of Summer Cruise Festival has added another rising star to its upcoming slate. Sexyy Red will board the Norwegian Sky cruise ship in Miami along with previously announced headliners Future and Lil Baby and fellow new addition Fat Joe. In addition to her performance duties, she’s also signed on to help out at one of the other activities: a mental health workshop hosted by the founders of SoMypolar, a nonprofit organization that services the mental health community.

The workshop is scheduled for July 4th, with the cruise itself running from July 2nd to July 5th, sailing through Nassau and Great Stirrup Cay. The festival debuted in 2019 with Cardi B, City Girls, Dej Loaf, and Post Malone. There are still a few cabins left and way more activities on the itinerary, including a beach party on a private island, a pajama party, an all-white party, a hip-hop comedy show, and a hip-hop workout class. You can find more info here.

Sexyy Red’s addition to the cruise is just one more example of how quickly her star has risen this year after her breakout singles “Born By The River” and “Pound Town” took the internet by storm. In just a few short months, the St. Louis star has received a co-sign from Nicki Minaj, stole the show at the BET Awards, and irritated conservatives — all signs that she’s doing something right.

Who Is Sexyy Red Signed To?

St. Louis rapper Sexyy Redd broke through into the mainstream world thanks to her breakout hit “Pound Town.” The Tay Keith-produced record quickly went viral thanks to its raunchy and blunt that fans couldn’t help but recite and/or stand in shock at what they heard. Fellow musicians like Summer Walker have covered the song while others like GloRilla have shared their love for the record. Sexyy Red would go on to prove that she’s far from a one-hit wonder with the release of her debut project Hood Hottest Princess.

That record was released on through Open Shift Distribution and Gamma Records. Open Shift Distribution is also home to rappers like Real Boston Richey and Lil Double 0 while Gamma Records is an independent record label based in Chicago that was founded by former Apple Music executive Larry Jackson and connected to artists like Snoop Dogg, Usher, and Rick Ross.

Sexyy Red’s Hood Hottest Princess arrived 11 songs and features from Nicki Minaj, Tay Keith, Sukihana, Juicy J, and ATL Jacob. The rapper recently made headlines for an impromptu performance of “Pound Town” at the BET Awards. She delivered the performance from her seat in the crowd and was joined by the her fellow audience members, though gospel singer Dr. Bobby Jones was a bit shocked with the song’s lyrics. Sexyy Redd caught wind of Jones’ reaction and replied in a tweet, writing, “Wait I’m sorry Dr Bobby we did that on a Sunday too [crying emojis].”

Hood Hottest Princess is out now via Open Shift/Gamma. Find out more information here.

Sexyy Red Is The Latest Star To End A Show Early After Being Pelted With Thrown Objects

It’s official: there is a new epidemic sweeping the globe. However, rather than a virus ruining everybody’s fun, this disease is more behavioral. Fans at concerts can’t stop being obnoxious, pelting performers with objects until they give up and go home. Last year, Steve Lacy smashed a fan’s disposable camera and Kid Cudi ended his Rolling Loud set early, while this year Bebe Rexha got a black eye from a cell phone, and Kelsea Ballerina was also beaned by a mobile device to the face.

The latest victim of this plague is breakout rap star Sexyy Red, who was forced to cut short a recent outdoor performance after someone in the crowd reportedly threw water bottles and balls on stage. In a fan-posted video, Red can be seen flouncing offstage while declaring, “I’m gone! Y’all throwing sh*t, I’m gone!” And while the DJ tries to keep the crowd hype with some explosions (seriously, though, these do not work. Knock it off), there’s a palpable sense of disappointment as Red exits stage left.

It’s a shame that so many breakout stars have to put up with this nonsense. And while COVID caused a lot of disappointment by shutting down live entertainment for a year, this sort of thing is getting even more frustrating, because who wants to pay today’s ticket prices, get dressed up, pay for parking and overpriced drinks, all to have the performers get pissed off by some feral asshole in the crowd with no sense of boundaries and leave early? Let’s all hope these folks get this trollish energy out of their systems because things are already bad enough as it is.
