Trey Songz Trying To Get $10 Million Lawsuit Thrown Out

Earlier this year, a woman filed a massive lawsuit against singer Trey Songz for allegedly sexually assaulting her. The event reportedly took place in a Connecticut casino in 2013 and she has some pretty strong evidence to support her claims. A friend of the accuser was recording a video at the time and has since shared it with TMZ. In the video the singer can be seen grabbing the accuser’s bikini top and pulling it down, exposing her breasts. Court documents also claim that he chanted afterward to deliberately draw attention to it, though it’s unclear if this is captured in the video.

The overwhelming evidence is probably why Trey Songz and his lawyers have taken a different legal defense than denial. According to HipHopDX, they’re claiming that because the assault is alleged to have happened in 2013, that the suit is well past the typical statute of limitations of three years. If that sounds familiar it’s because the singer has been in a very similar situation before. Last year he dealt with a rape case in civil court that was eventually thrown out because the statute of limitations had expired.

Earlier this year Trey Songz tried to get an entirely different court case thrown out due to allegations of bribery. They claimed that the defendant in that case had her legal team offer a witness money to deliberately paint Trey in a bad light. But the allegations went both ways. Trey’s own legal team was also accused of offering money for specific testimony from witnesses.

Unsurprisingly, Trey Songz hasn’t released much music recently. While he’s appeared on a loose single here and there he hasn’t dropped a new album since 2020. That album was called Back Home and featured guest spots from Summer Walker, Ty Dolla $ign, Swae Lee, and Davido. Luis Rubiales Hit With Sexual Assault And Coercion Lawsuit

Spanish prosecutors have filed a lawsuit against disgraced soccer president Luis Rubiales. Coming days after national team striker Jenni Hermoso pressed charges against Rubiales, the lawsuit accuses him of sexual assault and coercion. The assault charges stem from Rubiales kissing Hermoso on the mouth after Spain’s World Cup win last month. Meanwhile, the coercion charge stems from Hermoso’s claims that Rubiales and the federation pressured her into making a statement of support for Rubiales after public backlash emerged against him.

Furthermore, prosecutors have asked that Rubiales be compelled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing. If the National Court agrees to hear the case, their investigation will end with a recommendation of whether to take the case to trial or not. According to Spanish law, Rubiales could face up to two years in prison and up to two years of “professional suspension” if found guilty. However, he would likely avoid prison, as prison sentences in Spain are usually suspended if they are less than two years in length and the convicted individual does not have a prior criminal record. Furthermore, Rubiales is currently serving a 90-day suspension for the kiss, imposed by FIFA last month.

More Chaos For Spanish Football

However, the chaos is far from over in Spanish football. Earlier this week, the acting RFEF president fired Jorge Vilda, the head coach of the women’s national team. Players had been seeking the removal of Vilda since 2022, with 15 players boycotting the team in protest. Furthermore, Vilda was seen as a key Rubiales ally. When Rubiales made a speech refusing to resign, Vilda was seen applauding.

Meanwhile, the players in Liga F, Spain’s top-flight women’s professional league have officially gone on strike. The 2023-24 season was meant to start today (September 8). However, players have voted to strike after the RFEF refused to meet their demands regarding base salaries. Liga F became a professional league for the 2022-23 season, with a base salary of $17,100 euros. Players were seeking a base salary of $26,700 for this season and a guaranteed floor raise for next season. All of this comes as the federation attempts to repair its image, which has been completely trashed by Rubiales’ actions. This remains a developing story and we’ll have any updates as they emerge.

Nicki Minaj’s Husband Kenneth Petty Gets New Evidence In Sexual Assault Case

Kenneth Petty is dealing with a sexual assault case stemming from an alleged 1994 incident, and it isn’t getting any prettier. Moreover, his accuser Jennifer Hough wants to amend her complaint against him, and to introduce new evidence to strengthen her case. According to an AllHipHop report, it seems like this consists of old photographs provided by the Queens District Attorney’s Office from the alleged altercation. In addition, Hough claimed that Nicki Minaj’s husband violated his plea deal for allegedly harassing and intimidating her throughout this process. Furthermore, she maintained that this is because she rejected an offer from him and his team to scrap prosecution for cash so authorities could remove him from the National Sex Offender Registry.

After looking over previously unreleased records, Hough wants to add a cause of action for attempted r*pe to the accusations. This means that the case would have another crime to evaluate, stack up against Kenneth Petty’s liability, and determine her right to remedy for. These could include monetary damages, although the serious nature of this case could take things further. Still, considering how long this legal process has been, it’s too soon to know whether that will change based on this evidence.

On that note, the new evidence itself is quite harrowing, as its photographic depictions of the crime are unfiltered. For example, it depicts the knife used in the altercation, pictures of the room in which it allegedly occurred, and Hough herself. If the court finds her new cause of action significant, they will continue to deliberate on this case.

Bill Cosby Sued Again, Singer Alleges He Drugged And Assaulted Her

Bill Cosby’s ongoing legal battle continues, recently being hit with another lawsuit. Singer Morganne Picard is suing the 86-year-old for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting her. She claims the crimes happened on multiple occasions between 1987 and 1990. According to Picard, Cosby gave her drinks that would make her black out various times. The suit says she didn’t question this due to the positive way he had been portrayed in the media. While at the time she believed the effects were a result of alcohol, she now alleges that he had drugged them. The lawsuit also alleges that Cosby would sexually assault her after giving her the drinks, making her unable to consent. He “undressed and raped her, without her consent and when she did not have the capacity to consent,” the suit says.

According to Picard, she met Cosby on the set of The Cosby Show, when he allegedly showed interest in boosting her career through an appearance on the show. She then claims to have developed a bond with Cosby and his wife, Camille Cosby. The lawsuit says that Picard had seen Cosby as a father figure. “Based on the relationship that Cosby fostered with Ms. Picard and his wholesome image as ‘America’s Dad,’ Ms. Picard assumed that the extreme effects of the beverages were attributable to the effects of alcohol, rather than to drugs placed in the beverages from Cosby,” the lawsuit states.

Bill Cosby Facing Another Sexual Assault Lawsuit

In addition to Cosby, Picard is also suing NBCUniversal Media, Kaufman Astoria Studios, Astoria Studios Limited Partnership II, and The Carsey-Werner Company. She claims they “condoned and encouraged” the actor’s predatory behavior and assault of women by failing to prevent the abuse. “They knew and/or should have known Cosby was sexually abusing, preying on, grooming, assaulting, and/or battering women using the power, authority, resources, and facilities they provided to Cosby, but did nothing to stop it,’ the lawsuit states.

She is suing the companies for negligent hiring, retention, and supervision. Picard is now also seeking compensatory and punitive damages from the disgraced former comedian.

Kevin Spacey Found Not Guilt Of Sexual Assault Charges In U.K.

Kevin Spacey broke down into tears at a U.K. courtroom after a jury found him not guilty of nine charges relating to sexual assault and indecent assault, as well as causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity. The jury, consisting of nine men and three women, spent two days deciding the case after hearing the details over a four-and-a-half-week trial at Southwark Crown Court in London. After the jury read the verdict, Spacey addressed a crowd of media members outside.

“I imagine that many of you can understand that there’s a lot for me to process after what has just happened today. But I would like to say that I am enormously grateful to the jury for having taken the time to examine all of the evidence and all of the facts carefully before they reached the decision,” Spacey told the media.

Throughout the trial, four different men who made the complaints against the actor spoke. The most serious complaint stemmed from a man who claimed to have regained consciousness in Spacey’s London apartment with the actor performing oral sex on him. Spacey argued the encounter was consensual. Had the jury found him guilty, the charge of causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.

Slowthai Pleads Not Guilty To Two Rape Charges

Slowthai has pleaded not guilty to two charges of rape that date back to 2021. The rapper, whose real name is Tyron Kaymore Frampton made his plea in an Oxford court today. Slowthai appeared with another man called Alex Blake-Walker who is facing similar charges. Both were released on bail with Slowthai’s trial date set for July 1st of next year. In the meantime, Slowthai is likely to continue laying low as he had been for the past few weeks, according to Pitchfork.

It was almost a month ago exactly that Slowthai first appeared in court as a result of the charges. Since the charges were publicized Slowthai was dropped by a number of music festivals. Most notably the UK’s biggest festival Glastonbury dropped him from their line-up. Almost all of the festival dates and tour shows he was scheduled to play have either been delayed or canceled entirely. Slowthai also took to his social media channels to deny all of the allegations and ask that fans wait for all of the facts to come out.

Slowthai released his third album UGLY in March of this year. The album was preceded by two singles “Selfish” and “Feel Good.” It was the rapper’s first new project since his sophomore album in 2020 Tyron. Later that year he teamed up with fellow UK acts Gorillaz and Slaves on the collaborative track “Momentary Bliss” from Gorillaz’ Song Machine, Season One album. The next year he joined the punk rock band Idles for a remix of their fan-favorite track “Model Village.”

Slowthai is also a frequent collaborator of many American rap artists. Last year he scored a feature on Kenny Beats’ debut solo album Louie. He also appeared on the Denzel Curry single “Zatoichi.” The song went on to land on Curry’s Melt My Eyez See Your Future album where it became a fan favorite. It was the second time he collaborated with Curry after the pair initially worked together on their 2019 single “Ps*cho.” Slowthai has also made music with acts like Disclosure, Amine, Brockhampton, A$AP Rocky, and more.
