Crip Mac Could Serve 15 Years, Fans Petition For Shorter Sentence

Earlier this week, Crip Mac ran into some unexpected problems during a court appearance. He appeared for charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, which he was arrested for in September. The judge dropped the charges at a state level, but he was arrested by U.S. Marshals only moments later. Reportedly, his case was moved up to federal court, and he has a hearing scheduled for next week.

His indictment, obtained by Billboard, was eventually unsealed. It allowed fans to glean more insight into his case, and according to No Jumper, things aren’t looking good for the personality. Considering his current charges and record, he could be looking at a minimum of 15 years behind bars.

Crip Mac Hit With Federal Charges

Fans have been understandably upset by this information, and aren’t willing to sit back and watch him go down without a fight. Shortly after news of his arrest began to swirl, a petition was started on Change.org pushing for Crip Mac to receive a lesser sentence. While it’s only been around for roughly a day, it’s already managed to get nearly 10K signatures. Clearly, the LA native has a loyal fanbase, and they don’t want to see him locked up.

Crip Mac’s previous arrests were on attempted second-degree armed robbery, grand theft, and similar gun charges. Speaking to Billboard, defense attorney Curtis Briggs, who is unrelated to Crip Mac’s case, revealed that cases like this are fairly common. “Sometimes, local authorities become frustrated by lenient sentencing for people who are prolific [offenders], so they request the feds review for prosecution,” he described. “This puts more prison time in the discussion.”

NLE Choppa Takes Plea Deal, Receives Sentence In Gun And Drug Case

Today, NLE Choppa appeared in court in Broward County for his drug and gun case. Back in 2021, the rapper and other masked men were caught hopping a fence at a tow yard, and later pulled over by police. Officers found two loaded guns in the vehicle, as well as a backpack containing marijuana and Xanax. He was arrested for burglary, drug possession, and carrying a concealed firearm. At the time, he admitted the backpack was his, but claimed he wasn’t aware of the guns in the vehicle.

The 21-year-old pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges and received a sentence of one year of probation. Per their plea deal, prosecutors dropped his gun charge, and reduced the others to misdemeanors. In addition to probation, NLE Choppa will have to complete 40 hours of community service and a firearm safety class. His probation won’t stop him from working, however, as he’s free to travel both domestically and internationally.

Shortly after his 2021 arrest, NLE Choppa claimed that police planted the drugs on him. He suggested that he was targeted because he stands for “something deep.” He vented on Twitter, insisting he was set up. “During this arrest, I was setup,” he wrote. “Substances were planted on me that I don’t consume/use/own, my name was lied upon, and I was even mistreated in the process … This case will be beat and I will walk a free man, remember it’s innocent until proven guilty not guilty until proven innocent.”

Derontae Bebee Accepts Plea Deal In YSL RICO Case, Six Defendants Remain

Recently, YSL affiliate Derontae Bebee entered a guilty plea on RICO charges. He took a deal that will see him serving out a 15-year sentence, five years behind bars and 10 on probation. He may now be called to testify in the upcoming YSL RICO trial, though prosecutors have indicated that they won’t require him to.

Durante Partridge, Bebee’s attorney, has pushed for a reduced sentence as an opportunity for the 23-year-old to turn his life around. Judge Ural Glanville reminded him of the importance of making the most of the opportunity, and taking accountability for his actions. The YSL RICO trial is scheduled to commence later this month, with only six defendants remaining.

YSL RICO Trial Commences On November 27

Earlier this week, the jury selection process was completed after months of delays, meaning that the YSL RICO trial could finally proceed. Young Thug and his co-defendants’ trial will begin on November 27. Finding suitable jurors has proven to be a tough and lengthy process. The seated jury consists of seven Black women, two white women, two Black men, and one white man. It’s also remained controversial whether or not prosecutors should be allowed to use song lyrics in the trial. It’s admissible in Georgia, however, and Fulton County DA Fani Willis is in full support of it.

“I think if you decide to admit your crimes over a beat, I’m going to use it,” she told reporters. “I’m going to continue to do that; people can continue to be angry about it. I have some legal advice: Don’t confess to crimes on rap lyrics if you do not want them used. Or at least get out of my county.” Prosecutors made several errors when they submitted a list of lyrics they intended to use as evidence last week. The list featured misattributed lyrics, incorrect release dates, and even a YNW Melly song. What do you think of Derontae Bebee accepting a plea deal? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

6ix9ine’s Dominican Republic Arrest Leaves Him Stuck Overseas For Six Months, But Not In Jail

We’re used to seeing 6ix9ine land himself in hot water on American soil. For the most part, 2023 has found the New Yorker travelling around the world to engage in his usual antics. Months after falling victim to a brutal beatdown at his gym, 6ix decided to turn the tables during a trip to the Dominican Republic. This proved to his opps that he doesn’t lose every fight he’s involved in. At the time, the “GOOBA” hitmaker and his goons allegedly jumped a group of producers who spent time in the studio with his girl – a move that got him arrested last month.

“First I want to thank God that I am fine,” 6ix shared in a statement at the time. “Thanks to everyone who has me in prayer… I feel so happy seeing you in full support.” The embattled entertainer also promised he would be returning, though yesterday (November 2) we received an update that suggests otherwise. “6ix9ine reveals he’s not allowed to leave the Dominican Republic for six months after he allegedly jumped two producers in the studio for his girlfriend,” a tweet from @mymixtapez alleges.

What Happened to 6ix9ine in the Dominican Republic?

“He’s currently not in jail. [He] isn’t allowed to leave the country and go back to the US,” they also noted. Seeing as winter is right around the corner, the timing of 6ix’s unfortunate series of events is perhaps the best way this all could’ve played out for him. Not only will he avoid the blistering cold back home, but 6ix will also be clear of any American enemies plotting against him until next spring.

Being forced to spend six months in another country may sound like hell for an average person. However, 6ix9ine seems to have skyrocketed to celebrity status during his stay in the Dominican Republic. As he was staying in a courthouse awaiting his fate last month, lively protests began outside calling for his freedom. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

G Herbo Gets New Veneers Before Five-Year Prison Sentence

G Herbo will soon have to go to jail to serve his five-year sentence for wire fraud, which is a disheartening development. Still, it looks like he wants to appear fresh and bright behind bars, which is why he treated himself to a little makeover. Moreover, the rapper recently shared a video of him going to a dental office to get new veneers ahead of his prison time. It’s quite the short clip, with him and the doctor in charge of the procedure smiling for the camera right before they got to work. Overall, it seems like it went well for the Chicago MC, and he’ll have new pearly whites for his stay.

Furthermore, it’s still unclear how this prison sentence will affect G Herbo’s life, career, relationships, and more. Of course, all we can realistically speculate on is the music, as he will surely face a lot of private challenges and support in his regular life. When it comes to new music, though, this could make the process of developing this artistry and continuing to engage with and feed fans much more difficult. However, it’s entirely possible and probable that the 28-year-old will still drop material from jail, whether it’s recent recordings or older demos or scrapped cuts.

In fact, he recently hinted at what’s really inspiring him a lot these days when it comes to the rap game during a conversation with Math Hoffa. “I represent hip-hop,” G Herbo remarked on the My Expert Opinion podcast. “I’m a student of hip-hop. So, you started small when you talk about drill.

“New York is hip-hop,” he concluded. “New York is what I fell in love with, New York is the culture of hip-hop. The foundation of hip-hop, of rap music. That s**t bigger than G Herbo. Drill is cool. That’s alright. Bet, G Herbo’s part of drill. I’m a part of history, too though. I’m a part of hip-hop. I got my whole style and my swag from New York.” For more news and the latest updates on G Herbo, stay posted on HNHH.

Rot Ken Posts Up With Fellow Inmates With New Look After Receiving 20-Year Sentence

After receiving a 20-year prison sentence, now fans have a new peep at Internet Money rapper Rot Ken thanks to his latest Instagram post. “If You Think I’m Lien In My Raps Come Figure Me Out #FreeDaRest,” he captioned the post alongside a couple of coffin emojis. In the pictures themselves, you can see the MC linking up with a few of his fellow inmates in jail, as they pose for the camera. The biggest detail that hardcore fans will notice with this post is that his typical dreadlocks aren’t there anymore, and it’s a dramatic new look for him.

Furthermore, a lot of Rot Ken fans in the comments were glad to see him online again amid his personal life updates. However, a lot of them also expressed disappointment that he engaged with this street life without transitioning out of it through his career in the first place. Regardless on what side of the argument they fell on, though, most users called for the Georgia native’s freedom. Sure, some folks hyper-fixated on his new shaved head, but most of them had their priorities straight.

For those unaware, Rot Ken’s 20-year prison sentence stems from a fatal robbery in Richmond County in June of 2021. The court had previously him him with murder and aggravated assault charges for an April 2021 shooting. As of writing this article, it’s unclear whether these two cases connect in any way or if arrests for them happened at the same time. Either way, a judge sentenced the 20-year-old to 15 years for first-degree burglary and an additional five years for firearm possession during a crime commission.

Meanwhile, Ken’s age and the fact that he was just starting to get into the limelight make this case all the more saddening. Not because he shouldn’t be accountable for his crimes, but because it shows that the music industry won’t always remove you from harsh circumstances. Hopefully the rest of 2023 breezes by with no more incarcerated rappers, deceased MCs, or convicted criminal artists. For more news and the latest updates on Rot Ken, come back to HNHH.

Kodak Black Disagrees With Boosie’s Comments On Tory Lanez’s Sentence

Kodak Black has disagreed with Boosie Badazz’s comments on Tory Lanez’s 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. The Baton Rouge rapper had described it as a good deal and not that much time behind bars. “That’s a long ass time,” Kodak said in a clip circulating on social media, disagreeing with Boosie.

As for Boosie’s full comments, he said after the sentencing: “I think he came out good, bro, I don’t know how California work. I think he’ll only do five, that’s state time. S**t, in Louisiana? That n**ga would’ve did 40. A crime on a woman? Highly televised? 40, n**ga. No cap, n**ga. That n**ga would’ve got 40. I got 10 for third-offense marijuana, n**ga. Straight to Angola, n**ga. Not even off of rehab.”

Boosie continued, “He lucky he wasn’t in Louisiana, boy. I think state time, you don’t do nothing but half. Five years. He’ll do three years, a lil’ paper, he’ll be back out, you know, stronger than ever. Louisiana don’t play that, bro. A woman? Boy, you would’ve got 40, man. 1090 Jake Says Tory Lanez’s Celebrity Status Won’t Help Him In Prison

1090 Jake says that Tory Lanez’s status as a celebrity won’t help him when it comes to being an inmate in California State Prison. He discussed what the Toronto rapper is looking at with his 10-year prison sentence during an interview with VladTV. He began by noting that, considering the charges, the sentence isn’t too bad.

“The fact that he has to do it in California State Prison, that’s very unfortunate,” Jake further admitted. “They’re very political. You don’t have the opportunity to be the celebrity in there. If you’re general population, and it pops off, you’re required to get involved. You have to pick up a knife. You have to. It’s mandatory. So, the situation he’s in now, he has to basically forget about being a celebrity.”

Tory Lanez Feels Like A “Target” Behind Bars: Report

Earlier this summer, Tory Lanez finally received his sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion back in 2020. The judge gave him 10 years behind bars, which he’s now in the process of appealing. He recently requested to be released on bail, but a judge quickly shut him down. Regardless, sources close to the rapper claim that he remains hopeful.

Recently, the performer was transferred to North Kern State Prison. This prompted chatter surrounding some of the crimes that have taken place at the facility in the past year or so, which include various violent acts, even murder. Earlier this week, it came out that Lanez is being held in Administrative Segregation. This means that he’s fairly isolated, and being kept away from the other inmates.

According to reports, Lanez has a cell of his own, and every time he leaves he’s placed in handcuffs. He’s also not allowed to eat in the cafeteria with the other prisoners, meaning that his meals are delivered straight to his cell. Apparently, even when he goes outside in the yard, he’s kept in a special area away from everyone else. Though this must certainly be lonely, it might be for his own good. A source recently spoke with TMZ, claiming that Lanez feels especially at-risk because he’s a high-profile inmate.

“Tory is scared for his life and safety in prison. He feels like he is an instant and direct target because of his celebrity status,” they explained. “He stands in at 5-foot-3, so his size is definitely a setback.” The source went on to describe how Lanez continues to hold out hope that he’ll be released. “He is housed with real hardcore criminals, murderers,” they added. “So he is really hoping that his lawyers will be able to continue to fight for his freedom while still maintaining his innocence. The whole thing is a mess.” What do you think of Tory Lanez being in fear for his safety in prison?
