J. Cole Reveals How JAY-Z Tutored Him To Make Hit Songs

J. Cole has become one of the most recognizable hip-hop stars of all time. He is always included in the conversation for best rappers of the 2010 decade. His name is always next to Kendrick Lamar and Drake in those debates and deservedly so. Cole is one of the few lyrical mainstream hitmakers we have going today. However, the German born MC did not always find it necessary to become a master of hit songs. That is until J. Cole’s mentor JAY-Z taught him the way and convinced him to rethink things.

In a recent post from thehiphopwolf on Instagram, J. Cole revealed in a conversation how JAY-Z implored him to make some hits before dropping his debut tape. The “No Role Modelz” creator talked about his mindset going into his first LP saying that he was not concerned about that aspect. Instead, he was focusing more on making a classic. “That s***” could have sold 3,000, man that is supposed to be slept on.”

However, Hova quickly challenged that mentality once Cole signed to Roc Nation. Once J. Cole was told to go back and write up some hits, he said it took him a year to two years to do so. But, it was a full circle moment for him as now he sees it as a “superpower.” 2014 Forest Hills Drive was the start of that trend for Cole and he even said it himself in the clip above. “By the time [that] came by, I was smackin’ them b*****s out effortlessly.”

Sukihana Blasts Sapphire & Mariahlynn In New “Baddies East” Episode Preview

Baddies East is back and apparently more combative than ever, if even possible, because all the storylines in this episode preview are about tensions between the cast members. Moreover, if you’re curious and watch to see what’s going on, tune into the Zeus Network today (Sunday, January 21) at 8PM EST. As far as what there is to look forward to, we know that the girls are still on their Jamaica trip, from what it seems. Not only did that bring up plenty more conflict, but it’s also one that caused one of the most controversial parts of the season so far with Smiley’s medical emergency and how people thought she faked it.

Furthermore, the first thing we see in this Baddies East episode preview is Sukihana getting splashed in her face with a drink from Scarface. Later on, she calls out one of her best friends on the reality TV program, Sapphire, for not defending her properly and not walking the walk after talking the talk. We’ve seen that Suki doesn’t discriminate when it comes to the smoke, so she also holds her friends up to a certain standard of attack and defense. As we’ll find out soon, it’s not the only issue that she’s facing.

Elsewhere, this upcoming Baddies East episode will also feature Natalie Nunn and her pal Scotty trying to get back on good terms. Apparently, they had a nasty interaction over text where they were talking smack about one another. Unfortunately, it looks like their efforts weren’t very successful, as they got to fighting once again. No wonder that Nunn is looking for new members if there seems to be a new opponent every week.

Meanwhile, it seems like the beef between Sukihana and Mariahlynn will continue in the next episode. Mariah has “secret issues” with the former that haven’t come to light, but that could act as the climax for this episode or a lead-in for the next. Andre 3000 Reveals He’s Secretly Contributed To Other Artist’s Songs

Andre 3000 guest spots may not be as rare as they seem. In recent years his collaborations have been rare but very memorable. He’s lent his voice to standout features on songs by Frank Ocean, James Blake, Future, Killer Mike, A Tribe Called Quest, and more. But during a recent interview with GQ, Andre revealed that there’s even more music he recorded out there than fans may realize.

One of the reasons fans may not have noticed Andre was contributing to a song is because he isn’t talking about raps. In the interview, he discusses playing instruments, in particular flute, on a variety of other artists’ work. “I’ve actually played some wind things that I’ve put out in the world that I called myself another name under different artists that are out there that, you know, I was just kinda testing it out in a way. From known artists, and they’ve been cool about keeping it secret.” The revelation of his other alias had fans digging through old material looking for where he might pop up. According to HipHopDX, Andre contributed instrumentation to James Blake’s 2019 song “Where’s The Catch?” which he also features on. Check out the full interview below.

Andre 3000’s debut solo album is set to drop tonight. The album is called New Blue Sun and Andre was sure to set fan expectations for the project right away. He made it clear right as the album was announced that it contained “no bars.” The project is expected to be a largely flute driven instrumental album.

Subsequently, he also shared the tracklist for the album which has some hilarious and ridiculous song titles. “I swear, I Really Wanted To Make A “Rap” Album But This Is Literally The Way The Wind Blew Me This Time” and “Dreams Once Buried Beneath The Dungeon Floor Slowly Sprout Into Undying Gardens” are just two examples of song names on New Blue Sun. Larsa Pippen Dishes On Keeping Marcus Jordan Romance Secret Before Going Public

By now, those who were initially shocked to find out about a relationship between 48-year-old Larsa Pippen and 32-year-old Marcus Jordan have mostly gotten over their negative feelings. Seeing as things between the unlikely pair have only been heating up over the past few months, speculation that they’re together as a PR stunt is dying down. In fact, they’ve recently launched a new podcast in tandem with iHeartRadio called Separation Anxiety, and the first episode landed on DSPs today (June 13).

For nearly 30 minutes, “It’s Getting Personal” finds the couple spilling some tea on their romance, with Pippen even revealing that she stored Jordan’s name in her phone under a secret identity to avoid anyone in her life piecing the puzzle together. “I could never really put your under your name… So I put you under Marc Jacob,” the mother of four confessed to listeners. As her former college athlete beau laughed, he admitted that he didn’t find out about that until their relationship officially began.

“I feel like when we first started dating, it was random,” Jordan admitted, expressing understanding for Pippen’s desire to keep things lowkey. According to him, she wasn’t in a position where she wanted to take on “all the smoke” that can come with an age-gap relationship (not to mention one with your ex-husband‘s former teammate’s son). “A lot of people thought that we’ve known each other our whole lives,” the reality star vented.

Elsewhere in the episode, Larsa admits that she thought she might be single forever before Marcus came into her life. “Then when you and I first got together, I was like, ‘Oh, my God, this is the guy.’ This is the guy I prayed for, ’cause I really prayed for a best friend and I feel like I got my best friend,” she sweetly told her co-host.

Rich The Kid Allegedly Sued Over Hush Money Payment To Keep Pregnancy A Secret

Rich The Kid now has to deal with a tough situation unveiling that he wrongfully sought to keep under wraps. Moreover, the rapper faces a lawsuit from a “Jane Doe” in Massachusetts court over an unfulfilled $35K hush money payment. According to a Radar Online report, Rich apparently slept with the woman in question at a private hotel event in January of 2023. Afterwards, he reportedly drafted an agreement that she would get an abortion and that he would pay her the $35K in exchange for her silence, so that his fiancée Toni Brixx wouldn’t find out. With this lawsuit, alleging that he still owes her $25K, that seems impossible.

However, the lawsuit also included some more details on the incident. Furthermore, “Jane Doe” claimed that they engaged in unprotected sexual activity at his request. Not only that, but she also accused Rich The Kid of battery for aggressively touching her to keep her in the hotel without consent. From what her story indicates, he followed her after she left, getting into her Uber. Then, they had relations again at her home, and her lawsuit came with pictures of him on her home ring camera.

After she found out she was pregnant, that’s when the “New Freezer” artist created the signed agreement. Still, the woman claimed that he only provided her with two payments totaling $10K, which means she still wants her $25K. Unfortunately for Rich The Kid, this development made any chance of this being a secret disappear. As such, maybe this will affect his upcoming releases and will definitely affect his personal life. That being said, it wouldn’t be too surprising if he doesn’t decide to comment on this at all, especially since there’s a lawsuit involved now.

On that note, the 30-year-old doesn’t seem to have responded to any of these allegations on social media as of writing this article. Only time will tell how huge this becomes in the public eye, especially amid new music drops from him that are keeping his promotional presence busy. Raveena Wants Vince Staples To Keep A ‘Secret’ On Her Sultry New Single

Raveena has been having a productive last few months as an artist.
