Despite not releasing an album yet, Saweetie has absolutely crushed the music scene. The 29-year-old is seven times certified platinum and will likely reap the rewards of her tireless work when Pretty Bitch Music finally drops this year.
However, she has not limited herself to music. Her repertoire includes acting credits in Grown-ish and a cameo appearance on Bel-Air. Beyond that, she has appeared as herself on several big-name shows. These have included being a musical guest on SNL and appearing on Cooking With Paris. But there’s a role, or a genre of role, that Saweetie has her eye on.

Speaking with Metro in March, Saweetie revealed exactly what sort of acting role she wants to pursue. “I can see myself doing more TV and film projects. I definitely want to be a supervillain in the DC movies. I dressed up as Harley Quinn…I love getting into character and dressing up.” she said. Furthermore, Saweetie’s declaration comes at the perfect time as the DC Cinematic Universe undergoes a significant transformation. In an attempt to move away from the Zach Synder “DC Extended Universe”, James Gunn will launch the “DC Universe” in 2025 with Superman: Legacy. Other films announced for this reboot of a DC shared universe include The Authority, The Brave And The Bold, Supergirl: World Of Tomorrow, and Swamp Thing. There will also be TV projects in the form of Creature Commandos, Waller, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, and Booster Gold.
There are so many fantastic villains and anti-heroes contained within these properties. The Brave And The Bold, based on Grant Morris’ Batman comics, would be the perfect place to introduce Saweetie as Harley Quinn. Alternatively, Saweetie could flex her anti-hero muscles in a role like Bride of Frankenstein, a core member of the Suicide Squad-esque Creature Commandos. Additionally, the Game Of Thrones-esque Paradise Lost is going to need plenty of villains. Overall, there is a wealth of villain roles that are about to become available in the DC Universe. Perhaps we will see Saweetie take up the mantle of one of them.
There were plenty of noteworthy moments to come from Coachella weekend one, and even more are sure to follow in the coming days with the festival’s second and final round. While much of the focus was on the performers – namely headlining acts Bad Bunny, BLACKPINK, and Frank Ocean – the celebrities in attendance also caused a stir. Not only did Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet make headlines for failing to officially debut as a couple, but now, YG and Saweetie are also sparking dating rumours.
The two California natives have actually been connected for some time, though they’ve managed to keep their situation lowkey. Saweetie was at YG’s birthday party in March, which is when gossip first began to fly, though no official confirmation came with it. According to @thejasminebrand, they spent their time at Coachella cozying up together, though no photographic evidence has surfaced online quite yet. Seeing as the pair have previously collaborated with Tyga on “Money Mouf” and Mozzy on “In My Face,” it’s not surprising to see them link up romantically.

What is a bit shocking, however, are the rumours that YG gives his Icy Girl a “blank check” every month so she can spend to her heart’s desire. “He apparently has a black card with a ridiculously high credit limit,” AllHipHop alleges. “She’s not there for his money, supposedly,” the outlet added, which makes sense seeing as Saweetie’s got plenty of her own racks.
Prior to this new rumoured romance, Saweetie was briefly linked to both Lil Baby and Damson Idris, though nothing serious ever transpired. Her last long-term high-profile relationship was with Quavo, and many hip-hop heads were sad to see them part ways. As for YG, he and Kehlani spent some time together a few years back, and he also dated Keke Palmer from 2014 to 2015. Latto‘s first-ever Coachella set was an eventful one, as she pulled out all the stops, packing in surprise guests, and even apparently getting in a shot at Nicki Minaj.
Saweetie originally appeared on Latto’s 2019 remix of “Bitch From Da Souf” from Latto’s debut album Queen of Da Souf. Saweetie performed her verse from the song, receiving a huge pop from the crowd when she appeared. She also made it a point to big-up Latto after performing, saying, “She can rap her ass off… Bitch, and you look better than me!”
Meanwhile, Latto used her platform to help out a couple of rap’s rising stars, Lola Brooke and TiaCorine, bringing out the former to perform her signature hit “Don’t Play With It” (Latto appears on the remix) and the latter for a performance of the “FreakyT” remix.

Of course, the attention-getting moment was when Latto performed a new song in which she says the line “she thought I would kiss her ass, she must ain’t took her meds.” Fans have interpreted this as a shot at Minaj, with whom Latto has shared a contentious relationship ever since Nicki denigrated her achievements on Queen radio, leading to a spat on Twitter and a continuing cold war between the two.

Once again, Saweetie stunned her Instagram followers with some new pictures showing off her body in a red dress. Moreover, she notably doesn’t show her face, leaving herself up to the imagination while still impressing many with her outfit. Furthermore, she included some videos and photos of her walking around in it, ingeniously storing what looks like a Chanel lipstick, and raising a glass for herself. What’s more is that the 29-year-old is still hard at work both finalizing and teasing her debut studio album. While she’s tried to update fans whenever she can, a recent E! News interview illuminated her thought process a little more.
“I feel like a debut album is not something you just put out,” Saweetie remarked as she spoke on Pretty B***h Music and its constant delays. “It’s not something you play with. I’m a Cancer so I like to overthink sometimes, but I think you have to be really careful with that and I take my art really serious. I’ve been through a lot of interesting experiences. So, I wanna put that all into my album in the most artistic and organic way.”
Still, another aspect that the “Icy Girl” grappled with recently is how many have interpreted and perceived her fame. Not only that, it’s especially the case considering her state of origin. While she went through some career ups and downs, she feels as motivated and confident as ever to own a title that she feels she doesn’t deserve to self-proclaim. “I don’t want to self-proclaim the ‘Queen statement,’” Saweetie told Bootleg Kev. “But when I’m in certain cities or certain areas, they’ll just call me this and call me that. I’ve been called the ‘Queen of California’ and many queen things. It’s not something I’m trying to title, that’s why I had another voice say it on my [‘Single Life’] project. I don’t like it when people self-proclaim.”

Jimmy Fallon’s new-ish show, That’s My Jam, really does have a fun gimmick. Taking the simplicity of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke (which is ending after this season anyhow) and plugging in a bunch of other game show mechanics like a “wheel of fortune” randomizer and the Double Dare-esque spray of water, That’s My Jam not only gives celebrities a chance to wow audiences with incredible performances but also to be more “relatable” by doing something we all do — trip up singing our favorite songs.
Last night’s teams consisted of Community‘s Joel McHale with Will.I.Am and Keke Palmer with Saweetie. During the “Mega Mix Showdown” segment, the two rappers took on some of the classics of the genre — roulette and riff-off style, having to keep the beat between the randomized songs. The tracks included DMX’s “Party Up,” Ice Cube’s “It Was A Good Day,” The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Hypnotize,” OutKast’s “Ms. Jackson,” and Tupac’s “California Love.”
Considering both rappers hail from California, you’d think they’d kill that last one, but… Fortunately, they recovered on Snoop Dogg’s “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” with Eve’s “Let Me Blow Ya Mind” offering a grand finale. For the “Slay It, Don’t Spray It” segment, though, the girls’ team had to take on pop hits like “Wrecking Ball” — which Keke proclaimed “nobody knows” — while the boys nominated Joel McHale to sing Willie Nelson’s “On The Road Again” as Will bundled up for the inevitable rinse. Hot Girl Meg was performing at the AT&T Block Party in Houston on Friday night when Trayvone “Lil Darus” Stevenson was arrested for impersonating a public servant. The man dressed as a cop, specifically as a member of the “K-9 Unit,” and attempted to enter as hired security.
According to ABC13, the plot failed quickly and he was arrested as he was unable to supply law enforcement identification or even a police dog. The man was arrested from Harris County Jail on Monday with a $20,000 bond.

Fans have all but given up on Saweetie’s debut studio album, but the rapper has been hard at work. Saweetie has been promising Pretty B*tch Music for years, and with each teased release date comes a disappointment. Her debut’s delay has been explained away at each step, but that hasn’t stopped Saweetie from dropping singles. To placate her fans, the rapper delivered The Single Life, an EP she shared in November 2022. One of the project’s tracks, “Bo$$ Chick,” has received viral attention. This has caused some to hear the song for the first time; not everyone is a fan.
Hip Hop’s Icy Girl is used to facing off against critics. Artists regularly find their social media comments overtaken by naysayers, and Saweetie has dismissed the fuss. On TikTok, she uploaded a clip of herself lipsyncing a portion of “Bo$$ Chick” along with a dance, but a user wasn’t impressed. “I’m sorry I don’t like the song [crying loudly emojis].” Much of the time, artists ignore these remarks, but Saweetie had a minute to spare.
The TikToker wasn’t the only one with criticism, but Saweetie only addressed her. “Wellllll I don’t expect everyone to have good taste [shrug emoji],” the “My Type” rapper replied. Soon, dozens of her fans jumped in to cosign. Meanwhile, in April 2021, Saweetie hinted that her Pretty B*tch Music album faced delays because she was working on her craft. She revealed she was enduring a boot camp of sorts to sharpen her skills.
“Well for me, I’m gonna focus on what I struggle with — I struggle with breathing control,” she told Apple Music. “I’m gonna work on my dance moves, my details, all that good stuff, my body, my stamina, everything.” Meanwhile, the rapper more recently revealed that her debut would “definitely” arrive before the end of the year. When asked who she hoped to collaborate with one day, she gave a common answer: Rihanna. If the pair ever did link up for a record, Saweetie hopes it would be a dance track that gets fans’ bodies moving.
