Metro Boomin Previews Music With Future Following “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse” Soundtrack Success

Metro Boomin recently unveiled his highly-anticipated soundtrack to Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. First-week sales numbers prove that fans couldn’t wait to get listening to the LP. The project has sold 60,363 copies in its first week, with 3,079 coming from pure sales, putting him at #7 on the charts. The soundtrack features several high-profile features like 21 Savage, A$ap Rocky, Nas, Lil Wayne, and more.

He also made a cameo appearance in the new film, which he told Variety was “fun” for him earlier this month. “It was another door to open,” he told the outlet, “to peek through.” Metro Boomin explained, “Whether there is some more opportunities to do things like this in the future, it just makes a light bulb go. But it wasn’t difficult to integrate.” He also revealed that the cameo “was just so surreal,” claiming that he’s a “lifelong Marvel and Spider-Man fan.”

Metro Boomin Teases New Track With Future

Metro Boomin also just teased a new track he has on the way with one of his soundtrack collaborators, Future. Though he claims that the song is still in the works, fans at a recent performance had the honor of hearing it live.

Earlier this month, he revealed that a collaborative album with Future would be his next project. “So now that the soundtrack is out… when’s the album with Future,” a Twitter user asked the producer. He told the fan that the collab would be “Next up.” Metro Boomin first teased the collab in March in his cover story for FLAUNT magazine. He discussed performing alongside the rapper during his One Big Party tour stop in Atlanta. “Oh, that was fire,” he said of the performance. He later told the outlet that a collaborative album between the two of them would “definitely,” come out at some point this year. “I would bet on it,” he shared, “I would definitely bet on it.”

Soulja Boy Reveals Insane “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” Earnings

Soulja Boy is someone who has had impressive longevity in the hip-hop world. Although he may not be pumping out hits right now, he still has a lot of fans around the world. Overall, he burst onto the scene with “Crank Dat.” As many of you know, he made this song popular thanks to some mischievous practices on Limewire. That said, he was able to follow up this success with some other big songs. For instance, he had another smash hit with “Kiss Me Thru The Phone” which almost went number one on Billboard.

If you remember, the music video featured a phone number that fans could call or text. As you can imagine, this number was inundated by his supporters and those who just wanted to troll. That said, Soulja Boy did not seem to mind it. In an interview with HipHopDX, Soulja explained how much money he made off of the phone number. Soulja Boy Secured The Bag

“Alright, let me tell y’all the real story,” Soulja Boy began. “Boom. So that number was like a fan line. So every time somebody called that number, I was getting paid off of that shit. It was like a subscription. You could text it or call it, so I was probably making like $100,000 a month off of that, just people calling that number.” Subsequently, he explained how the company that had the number went out of business. However, he is looking to get the number back in his possession.

As of the end of 2022, Reservoir Media had spent $695 million on catalog acquisitions since its 2007 launch. “I was born and raised in Louisiana and witnessed Mannie’s meteoric rise from a local DJ in New Orleans to a globally acclaimed producer, writer, and performer who helped break some of the genre’s biggest talents,” said Rell Lafargue, Reservoir President and Chief Operating Officer. “It means a lot to me to continue to build Reservoir’s connection to creators like Mannie, who represents the highest caliber of contemporary music from New Orleans, and we’re pleased to be the new stewards of his hit music.”

Reservoir Executive Vice President of A&R and Catalog Development Faith Newman also commented: “Mannie’s clever production cultivated a powerful moment for Southern hip-hop, and his distinctive sound helped pave the way for other producers for years to come. Diddy In “No Rush” To Sell His Catalog, His Business Partner Says

Despite many of his contemporaries selling off their music catalogs, Diddy is apparently in no rush to join them. According to Combs Enterprises President Tarik Brooks, Diddy plans to hold onto his music for the foreseeable future. Brooks discussed the music mogul’s financial plans during a recent interview with Trapital’s Dan Runcie.

“For us, we’re in no rush to get rid of a portfolio that could be a part of music’s evolution,” Brooks stated during the discussion. “Who knows how you think about those assets in the future?” Diddy’s catalog is one of the most iconic in the history of hip-hop. It features the work of numerous legendary artists including Mary J. Blige, The Notorious B.I.G., Lil’ Kim, and many more.

Brooks continued: “We have the benefit of being able to go slow and kinda take our time and basically run experiments at our own pace to figure out what we want to do. And so from that perspective, people have continually come through with offers, opportunities, and things. And we’ve purposely taken our time as we’ve thought about what Puff’s experience of music is gonna be over the next years as he climbs what he talks about as his second mountain.”

As for artists who have decided to sell either their entire catalog or portions of it, Metro Boomin, Zaytoven, Dr. Dre, Future, and Irv Gotti have all done so as of late. Diplo explained his decision to do so during an interview with TMZ, earlier this year. “It’s a great investment because when you stream music it just constantly goes,” he said. “So a record like ‘Lean On,’ one of my songs with Major Lazer, always has 400,000 streams. It’s always gonna generate capital so it’s a great investment.” Check out Tarik Brooks’ interview with Trapital below to see why Diddy is not joining the star-studded list.

During a new episode, he admitted that he’s likely going to lose a bet with Ma$e that Simmons would average 10 points per game this season. “Ben Simmons, at this point, you costing me money. I don’t know where you gonna go, but get the fuck out of New York,” the rapper said. “Personally, we don’t really want you around. You’re a disgrace. You costing me money.”

Cam’ron isn’t the only Dipset member that’s interested in moving into TV. Jim Jones also recently teased that he wants to make a series about the group’s iconic run in the 2000s. “You got a talk show. I’m about to give you the Dipset 5H TV series,” Jones told DJ Self. “I think I’m a do that ’cause the shit that went on in 5H before we became the players we were, you n****s need to see. We was reckless. Young, dumb, and stupid, but we was having a ball.”
