Run The Jewels Team Up With Lil Wayne For A Raucous ‘Ooh La La’ Remix

I can’t write a better intro than the one Lil Wayne drops on Run The Jewels’ nuclear bomb from last year, “Ooh La La.” Weezy comes out swinging, landing haymaker after haymaker in a verse stuffed with electrifying, face-scrunching rhymes. If it seemed like Lil Wayne would feel out of place on a track with the anti-establishment Run The Jewels rappers El-P and Killer Mike, he lays those fears to rest near instantly.

The remix is one of the new tracks appearing on the newly released deluxe edition of RTJ4, which also adds a new mix of “JU$T” with Pharrell and Zack De La Rocha, the Royal Blood remix of “The Ground Below,” and the rebellious rap duo’s Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack contribution, “No Save Point.” There are also instrumental versions of all the songs on the original album, giving fans a chance to try to rhyme like Lil Wayne over favorites like “Walking In The Snow” and “A Few Words For The Firing Squad.”

RTJ4, which El-P and Mike dropped at the height of the pandemic quarantines, was eventually tabbed as one of 2020’s best albums. They’ll be touring the project with Rage Against The Machine beginning in 2022.

Run The Jewels Partner With Black-Owned Breweries For Their Own Line Of Craft Beer

Along with making music and headlining festivals this year, Run The Jewels have been expanding into the beverage industry. The duo made up of Killer Mike and EL-P recently hopped on the hard seltzer trend with their Pink Lemonade drink. Now, Run The Jewels are partnering with several Black-owned breweries for a new line of craft beer.

The line of beers includes the recently released rice lager Never Look Back brewed at Green Bench Brewing Co. in Florida, the molasses and corn grits ale All Due Respect brewed in collaboration with Proximity Brewing and Spaceway Brewing, and Blockbuster Night, Pt. 1, an IPA brewed at Brew Gentleman Brewery in Braddock, PA and made with cannabis terpenes.

Each of Run The Jewels’ beers benefit various nonprofits. A portion of proceeds earned from their Never Look Back beer is slated to benefit Beer Kulture, an organization that works to advance and create opportunities that foster diversity, equity and inclusion within the craft beverage space.

A portion of the duo’s All Due Respect beer will be donated to Blacktoberfest, where the beer will also debut. Blacktoberfest invites over 100 Black-owned establishments to spotlight their products and are about to celebrate their second year as a festival. Furthermore, Run The Jewels have committed to donating 50 percent of proceeds from their Blockbuster Night, Pt. 1 IPA to various Pittsburgh charities serving the children and the arts.

Run The Jewels, The Strokes, Phoebe Bridgers, And More Headline Shaky Knees’ 2021 Festival

Shaky Knees festival is eying a massive return for their 2021 festival. Marking its seventh year, the festival has officially unveiled their 2021 lineup with Stevie Nicks, Run The Jewels, The Strokes, and Phoebe Bridgers leading the bill.

Shaky Knees’ 2021 festival takes place in Atlanta, GA’s Central Park. While it usually kicks off in May, organizers have pushed the date back to the weekend of October 22 through 24. Along with headliners Stevie Nicks, Run The Jewels, Phoebe Bridgers, and The Strokes, Shaky Knees has booked over 60 bands. The lineup includes Alice Cooper, St. Vincent, Modest Mouse, Portugal. The Man, Mac Demarco, Dermot Kennedy, Dominic Fike, Royal Blood, The Hives, Arlo Parks, Ty Segall & Freedom Band, Jay Electronia, White Reaper, Noga Erez, Cults, Peach Tree Rascals, Frankie And The Witch Fingers, Idles, Lunar Vacation, Cloud Nothings, Neal Francis, Liza Anne, Orville Peck, All Them Witches, Tennis, Black Midi, Bartees Strange, The Aubreys, and more.

In a statement about the festival’s return, founder Tim Sweetwood said: “We are really happy to be able to deliver Shaky Knees this October with a lineup that truly has something for everyone. We look forward to getting back into Central Park with our amazing Shaky family of fans and hear some incredible live music together.”

Bottlerock Announces Foo Fighters, Stevie Nicks, And Guns N’ Roses As 2021 Headliners

Slowly but surely, the live music industry is returning to normal. Artists are announcing tour dates and festivals are planning to go ahead with their 2021 events after canceling or postponing in 2020. Even just today has been big for festival news: Pitchfork Music Festival unveiled a big 2021 lineup this morning, and now so too has Bottlerock.

The Napa, California music, wine, food and brew festival is set to return this year, on the weekend of September 3 to 5. Foo Fighters, Stevie Nicks, and Guns N’ Roses have been tapped to headline the weekend. Elsewhere on the poster, rounding out the lineup are Miley Cyrus, Megan Thee Stallion, G-Eazy, Run The Jewels, Brandi Carlile, Cage The Elephant, Portugal The Man, Young The Giant, Maren Morris, Black Pumas, Future Islands, James Murphy (DJ Set), Jimmy Eat World, Finneas, Polo G, Jack Harlow, Jessie Reyez, Dominic Fike, Chromeo, Mavis Staples, Jon Batiste, Kota The Friend, Village People, Hamilton Leithauser, Joywave, Big Freedia, and Meg Myers, among others.

Run The Jewels And Rage Against The Machine Will Finally Tour Together In 2022

Run The Jewels and Rage Against The Machine were supposed to team up for the “Public Service Announcement Tour” in 2020, but naturally, that did not come to pass. Dates were later pushed back to 2021, and now, both groups are set to finally hit the road together in 2022.

The new set of dates begins in Texas in March and features a number of North American stops before wrapping up with a week of Madison Square Garden in August.
