Olympic Breakdancing Gets Clowned Online For Some Really Bad Moves

Breakdancing is one of hip-hop’s five pillars, and seeing it at the 2024 Olympics in Paris is quite the wild sight for the culture and art form as a whole. Sadly, this global exposure and reintroduction in the popular societal sphere probably won’t make you very happy if you’re bummed out about people forgetting about this pillar more often than not. That’s because a lot of these displays proved to be pretty cringe according to social media’s comically unimpressed reactions. Many of them took aim at a particular b-girl Raygun, although other Olympians also caught strays and jokes about their efforts.

Still, a lot of Olympics fans and viewers found some truly worthwhile and engaging performances during these breakdancing one-on-ones. Even though most of what’s going viral is the more seemingly embarrassing fare, just like with every other event, there’s always something special to witness. Hip-hop’s had a pretty eventful presence in these games this year, with Snoop Dogg pretty much being the poster boy for a lot of it. Surely, more closed and centralized hip-hop circles have a lot more to say about this breakdancing.

Fans Aren’t Impressed By Breakdancing At The Olympics

Elsewhere, artists like Pharrell think that the Olympics should reinstate their arts competition. “We get to remind people that at one point, the Olympics actually had the arts as a section that ran all these competitions,” he expressed at the event’s Louis Vuitton party. “Sculpture, architecture, visual arts. The idea we get to put the arts back in… Why not take this moment to bring awareness?” The LV creative director referred to the five medals awarded in fields of music, painting, architecture, literature, and sculpture from 1912 to 1948. Breakdancing is definitely a start, although it seems like they didn’t kick off on the best foot this year.

Meanwhile, there are other Olympics-slash-hip-hop moments that were perhaps not as embarrassing as some breakdancing, but were nonetheless not the typical display you’d see from the genre. This includes Travis Scott and Quavo’s impromptu performance of the U.S. national anthem. Huncho Jack and Jack Huncho were giving it their all, but if they had a mic in front of their hands, it would be a pretty bad performance. But they didn’t mean to take over a Super Bowl stage with it, so let’s let them be proud hip-hop stars and at least make the jokes funny and not mean.

Drake is one of those artists who gets scrutinized for everything he does. Overall, this has been especially true as of late thanks to the outcome of his beef with none other than Kendrick Lamar. Had he won the feud, the noise around him would be a lot less loud. However, he lost handily, so fans have been giving him more flack than ever before. Drizzy could simply go out for a meal and the internet would criticize him for his order and choice of restaurant.

That said, fans want to hear from him right now. With Kendrick Lamar taking a prolonged victory lap, there is this sense that Drake is being too quiet. Sure, he has been dropping some features here and there, but he hasn’t exactly addressed what took place. Last night, Drizzy took to his Instagram story with a couple of snapshots. In one, he is walking down the stairs and in the other, he is sipping coffee and looking at the camera. Once again, this attracted a roast session in the comments section over on Akademiks’ page.

“Imagine setting up a camera or having someone stand at the top of your stairs as you walk down with a cold cup of coffee or tea just to take this picture,” one person wrote. “Then to make it worse imagine the amount of time he had to go up & down the stares to retake the picture to get this one picture.” Fans continued to go in on the artist, with one saying “Damn drake really got no family that mansion empty as fuck.” Needless to say, even the most innocuous things will bring out the Drake hate brigade.

Amid all of this, Drizzy has kept a fairly low profile. He appears to be laying low intentionally, aside from a few sightings here and there, and fans can’t blame him. The hitmaker has been fairly active on social media, however, which has given Kendrick supporters plenty of ammo.

Earlier today, for example, he took to his Instagram Story to share a photo of himself with what appears to be a bright blue hookah hose in his mouth. It’s unclear exactly why he decided to post this, though most think it was far from a good move. He’s now being clowned for the photo in XXL‘s comments section, and X users aren’t holding back in the slightest. “Bro I can’t keep defending this,” one writes. “What’s with this pose bro??” someone else wonders.

Lil Durk Set Ablaze Following His Support For The Chicago Sky

The WNBA continues to receive more eyeballs on its product this season. When you have a global star like Caitlin Clark, it becomes a lot easier to market your brand. Lil Durk is starting to catch on to what the league is building, as he pulled up to support his hometown Chicago Sky (6-9). Last night, Angel Reese and her crew took down the Indiana Fever (7-11) in perhaps the most exciting game of the season. After falling behind by 15 near the end of the third quarter, the Sky chipped away at the deficit. They eventually went up four with 27.8 seconds remaining to hold on, 88-87.

Angel Reese was a big part of their success, notching 25 points, 16 rebounds, on an efficient 8-12 shooting night. Lil Durk might have been a catalyst as well, as he performed at halftime. Vic Mensa and G Herbo were also in attendance, as part of a Juneteenth celebration promotion. After picking up the massive W, Smurk joined the team in the locker room to show them love, according to AllHipHop. “We locked in now. Y’all had a good game today and I’m gonna be at more of the games supporting y’all”, Durk said. This energy from the Chicago native is nothing new, as he originally welcomed Reese and Kamilla Cardoso to the squad.

Lil Durk Can’t Support The Chicago Sky Without Getting Flamed

Even though this was a sweet moment for the team and the league, fans were still finding something funny. In this case, it was Lil Durk’s height and outfit of choice. According to the internet, the hitmaker stands 5’7″, which comparatively is pretty short to a lot of WNBA athletes. Reese is 6’3″, so with an eight-inch height discrepancy, X users were quick to point that out. Durk and the Sky forward linked up for a picture which led to obvious jokes. As for his get-up, some were saying he was wearing a Snuggie, or trying to impersonate a political leader in some European country.

The-Dream is a living legend. Throughout his illustrious career, the Atlanta, Georgia singer and songwriter has accomplished so many things. From helping pen some of the biggest hits in R&B and rap history, to providing his trademark tenor vocals for other artists, he has done it all. However, some days you are not going to bring your best stuff as a musician. It happens to even the best of the best, and for The-Dream, it took place earlier this month. Footage from the Roots Picnic — an annual music festival held in Philadelphia– has just surfaced. The two-day event saw artists like Lil Wayne, The Roots, Smino, Sexyy Red, Andre 3000, and The-Dream all show up for the 16th installment.

It looks to be taken by an audience member while the veteran was onstage. Right away, The-Dream’s vocals seemed to be off-note or off-pitch, and the crowd immediately reacted with secondhand embarrassment. Perhaps the funniest moment of the whole video happens when the camera turns toward the fan recording the questionable performance. All she can do is look absolutely confused and taken aback.

Travis Scott’s College Essay About G.O.O.D. Music Dug Up By Fan, Internet Rips It Apart

Travis Scott has always been a student of hip-hop ever since he became a Kanye West protege back in the early 2010s. Over the years, we have seen him take the respective sounds of artists like Ye, Kid Cudi, Future, and more and create a one-of-a-kind psychedelic sound. But even before he began his rap journey, he was looking to get ahead even when he was an actual student. According to XXL, one of many Travis Scott fan accounts recently uncovered a college essay from his short stint at university. This four-page paper from December 5, 2009, seems to have been for an English professor of some sort.

If you did not know, Trav attended The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He would drop out during his sophomore year, before ultimately becoming the controversial superstar we know him to be. In the essay, Scott flexes his rap knowledge by summarizing the careers of Kid Cudi and Big Sean. He refers to them as “well-known rappers that had similar lifestyles but different messages.” Subsequently, these parallels “carried them an opportunity to get sign to a multi-million-dollar company called G.O.O.D. MUSIC.”

Fans Joke Travis Used Wikipedia For This College Essay

Near the end of the paper, Scott wanted to this story to convey that, “Success is not something that is giving out. You must go out and take what you want.” Even though the multi-hyphenate must have felt good about his efforts here, fans have been quick to tear it up. “Dude wrote the intro, then just copy paste Wikipedia!☠” one user writes. “Goddamn my brain is hurting reading this s***” another adds. While some of the grammar is not totally refined, it seems that he knew this information on the back of his hand.

Throughout the rollout for Vultures, Ye has been dropping a ton of new garments. These pieces are typically a mix of streetwear fashion and album merch. Fans have been quick to scoop these options up as they know stock levels can diminish on the Yeezy website, extremely fast. Unfortunately, not every review of these new offerings has been positive.

Case in point, a man recently bought the Vultures 1 shirt that is going for $20 on the Yeezy website. Below, you can see that he had a pretty bad experience with how the shirt actually fits. Out of the package, the man notes that the shirt is fairly boxy, and looks like a pillow case. Subsequently, he went to go put on the garment, and he quickly realized just how poorly it actually fits him. It was a brutal experience, and the man couldn’t help but laugh at the entire situation.

Kanye West has always been experimental when it comes to clothes. Overall, he tries to do things differently, and sometimes, that doesn’t end up working out. Instead of getting close to 20 years in prison, he only got about two. However, he served less than that as COVID started running rampant in prisons around North America. Since that time, he has continued to troll and has done some truly disrespectful acts. Now, he is in the Dominican Republic music scene, and he won’t stop trolling people.

Furthermore, he has had some legal issues in the country. On two separate occasions, he has been arrested. Once was for assault and the other was a domestic violence complaint from the mother of his girlfriend. In fact, 6ix9ine originally said that it was his girlfriend who beat him. This subsequently led to a breakup, but now, they are back together. In the video below, you can see the two hanging out together, and having a splendid old time.

Unfortunately for 6ix9ine, the comments on the DJ Akademiks post above were less than positive. Overall, people had a lot to say about the artist and his online antics. In fact, some looked to bring up the gym beating he experienced last year. “Bro jaw ain’t neva look the same after that gym beating,” someone wrote. “Ak the only person who still post this dude lol,” said another. However, there were some positive comments, with one person saying “I saw her in person, I understand 69, the girl is pretty so pretty.”

Regardless of these negative comments, it is safe to assume that 6ix9ine is just going to continue doing his thing. That has always been his M.O. ever since he came into the game.
