SZA Responds To Rumor That Frank Ocean Was Axed Last Minute Prior To “Lana’s” Release

A lot of folks want Frank Ocean to come out of hiding. It’s maybe why a fan page for the Blonde artist is making up some dubious rumors regarding a recent album. SZA’s SOS Deluxe: LANA hit streaming platforms over the weekend to much of the delight of her respective fan base. It had been in limbo for about a year thanks to a lot of leaks, tweaks, and more. 15 (technically 14 because of “Saturn”) new songs were tacked onto her 2022 record, and so far, the reception has been very positive. It’s also been talked about quite a bit within hip-hop circles too thanks to the lone guest, Kendrick Lamar, who appears on “30 For 30.”

Well, apparently, K. Dot wasn’t supposed to be on the deluxe tape by himself. According to HipHopDX “blondedhomer,” an “everything Frank” X page, made the claim that Mr. Ocean was also on LANA. However, for whatever untold reason, the “White Ferrari” singer-songwriter’s contributions were removed. “Frank Ocean’s verse on SZA’s new album LANA (SOS Deluxe) was removed at the last minute,” the account swears.

SZA Claps Back At Frank Ocean Fan Page For Their Unsubstantiated Claim

The person never specifies which song, though, leaving this up for serious scrutiny. Well, sure enough, “blondedhomer” got it and from nonother than SZA. She was quite upset with the fan for dropping off such an unsubstantiated rumor, replying, “Lmao now why would you even make this up??” she began. “Ur insane. It never existed. And don’t ever play on Frank’s name like that EVAAAA.”

While she was certainly right to respond in this fashion, it admittedly does hurt to hear that Frank never had any input. He remains to be one of the most elusive names in modern music. However, despite him not dropping an album since his 2016 commercial and critical masterpiece, he still rakes in streams and monthly listeners. At this point a miracle (a Christmas one in this case) is needed for Frank to come back.

Tariq Nasheed Explains The Backlash Fat Joe Received From Foundational Black Americans

Tariq Nasheed has responded to the backlash that Fat Joe faced for his controversial comments on Math Hoffa’s My Expert Opinion show. Moreover, for those unaware, Joey Crack called Foundational Black Americans (FBA) “radical Black racists” who are trying to downplay his identity and making up narratives around him. Nasheed is in strong disagreement with Joe’s sentiments about Black culture and Latin American culture, particularly Puerto Ricans, creating hip-hop “50/50.” For the most part in his response, the filmmaker called out what he sees as lies in people’s arguments against FBAs and other common cultural misconceptions on both sides.

Furthermore, this is just one small corner of much wider cultural conversations between so many different groups across or adjacent to Black culture and identity, something that this white-passing Puerto Rican writer, to quote Justin Hunte, is not in the position to properly contextualize. But Fat Joe is far from the only hip-hop artist that Tariq Nasheed has smoke for these days, as he also made some divisive comments about Sexyy Red earlier in 2024. He believes that white supremacists are pushing her because she, in his opinion, represents a negative image of Black culture.

Tariq Nasheed Addresses The Fat Joe Drama

In addition, there are some other Fat Joe takes that might rub Tariq Nasheed or others the wrong way, as his assessment of this past year in rap music also prompted critical responses. “I woke up 2024 feeling like [God dammit!] It’s been a horrible year,” he said of hip-hop this year. “I was just having a heated discussion with my people [about this]. All our legends. All our mentors getting scrutinized. This is the worst time to be a celebrity in history. I’m not sure you guys wanna be celebrities. […] This might be the worst year ever in hip hop history type s**t. This s**t bad.”

Meanwhile, Tariq Nasheed also brought up his Microphone Check documentary against Fat Joe, which also seeks to debunk his claims. As you can tell, these are very difficult cultural conversations that could be much more fruitful and beneficial if folks didn’t take such stubborn or staunch stances. Hopefully combative clap-backs instead turn into more direct dialogue in 2025.

Snoop Dogg Claims To “Love The Hate And The Love” For His “Missionary” Album Amid Mixed Reception

Just over a week ago, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre rekindled their chemistry for a full-length effort in Missionary. The project is pretty much a follow-up to 1993’s Doggystyle, one of the West Coast’s sure-fire classic hip-hop records. Overall, the hype was real for this project due to their past collaborations that still have that timeless feel. Additionally, a lot of the other “old head” MCs had been releasing some solid comeback albums. So, with that in mind, why couldn’t Snoop and Dre do the same? Well, in the eyes of the fans, they did right with Missionary.

However, from a critic’s perspective, the same cannot entirely be said. If you scour the internet for reviews, a majority of them are generally mixed on the final product. Current sales projections are pretty reflective of the “experts’” opinions as its looking like it will move around 36,000 equivalent album units. It’s still good enough for a Billboard Hot 200 entry, but nowhere near where it possibly should’ve wound up. Despite all of this though, Snoop Dogg seems to be pretty unbothered.

A post shared by snoopdogg (@snoopdogg)

According to HipHopDX, Unc recently posted a short rebuttal on his Instagram to both the loyal supporters of his and the harsher pundits. “First of all, thank y’all for the support for Missionary. Long time coming. Love the reception but let me say this. I’ve been watching podcasts and people doing reviews – a couple of them specifically where they started off saying, ‘I wasn’t into this album, I don’t like Snoop Dogg, I wasn’t anticipating this, I don’t care…’ Really just listening just to listen. Started off hating,” he began.

“Get to song three/four, demeanor change a little bit. By the time they get to song eight/nine/10, they love Snoop Dogg, loving the production, loving the growth. By the time they get to the end, they’re in tears because they’re emotional behind the body of work that me and Dr. Dre put together trying to show how to make a body of work, a project, well received. I love the hate and the love. That’s why we do it. We do it because we love what we do. Thank y’all!” However, he didn’t wrap up with that. Snoop then made sure to let everyone know that there’s a “thin line between love and hate,” and that “ya kids and ya mama love me.” Final sales numbers will arrive early next week.

Gillie Bashes Police At His Boxing Event For Shooting Confusion That Led To Cancellation

Gillie Da Kid had to angrily kick everyone out of his boxing event this weekend due to an alleged shooting against police outside, but it turns out that this was a huge misunderstanding that made him all the more irate. “Shout out to everybody that supported us tonight,” Gillie began his video response to the matter. “Shout out to everybody that tuned into the pay-per-view. But I also want to say this, man. The Wilmington police is the worst f***ing police district in the f***ing country.” He claimed that he paid police and security $14,000, yet their captain had to ask him to control the crowd outside the venue that didn’t have tickets, who were apparently very rowdy.

Furthermore, Gillie Da Kid didn’t understand why this had to be his job, but he followed through anyway because the captain suggested that the police would have to use force as an alternative. “Five minutes later, y’all macing motherf***ers,” he ranted against the police. When Gillie heard that people were allegedly shooting at police outside, the Million Dollaz Worth Of Game cohost was shocked and kicked everybody out. But then, the police said that people were shouting at them, not shooting. “You made me kick all of these motherf***ers out the stands ’cause some n***as was outside shouting at the f***ing police?!” he asked indignantly.

Gillie Da Kid Addresses Boxing Event Shut-Down

This was a really rough situation for almost everyone involved, as the non-ticketed crowd and police cost a lot of people money, time, and peace. For Gillie Da Kid in particular, this situation might’ve hit home for him due to his condemnation of gun violence, but to hear that it was all a miscommunication afterwards was clearly a massive blow.

Hopefully he can avoid these types of situations in the future for his next events, as this is the last thing that he wants to promote or condone. Gillie Da Kid (or King, rather) has a brazen sense of humor, but you certainly do not want to be on the receiving end of one of his scathing rants. What should’ve been a great event seemingly fell victim to poor planning on behalf of security staff.

50 Cent Responds To People Calling Him A Diddy Hater Before Criminal Scandal

50 Cent recently hopped on the Flagrant podcast with Andrew Schulz to talk about his love for comedy and even make some jokes about Schulz’s Kendrick Lamar controversy. But those weren’t the only laughs they had about a massive rapper, as the comedian also commented on how Fif has hated on Diddy for years, well before his current legal scandal. The G-Unit mogul made some jokes about how people are complaining about things he alluded to, but he also downplayed any sort of deeper knowledge by making it clear that he’s just observant. Of course, he probably couldn’t have predicted how things turned out.

To be fair, 50 Cent is usually quick to jump down a lot of people’s throats, not just Diddy’s. Recently, he clapped back at a Louisiana senator who thinks that the city should “pump the brakes” on 50’s huge investments in Shreveport. “Sam Jenkins must not want things to turn around in Shreveport,” he captioned an Instagram post about the matter. “Who would not do a deal to wait for a imaginary deal to come? Or maybe he just lacks faith in me, what you think ?”

50 Cent Speaks On Being A Diddy Hater

So if you’re ever on 50 Cent’s bad side, he will make it incredibly clear. After all, he’s making a whole documentary about Diddy’s alleged misconduct. “It’s a difficult project because every day, there’s new accusations coming out, it’s new things that happened,” he told GMA3: What You Need To Know. “So, it’s become an octopus, with so many powers and so many things going on. […] No, [I didn’t expect this], not this bad. Not this much stuff. I don’t think anyone could have anticipated this many accusations and things that have taken place.”

Meanwhile, there are other longtime Diddy haters who will apparently support this 50 Cent documentary in many ways. For example, Al B. Sure recently claimed that the doc will reveal why he was in a coma, and hinted that Sean Combs had something to do with it. That’s an unfounded allegation, though, so take it with a grain of salt. It must be weird for one’s hater tendencies to become sad warnings.

Tony Buzbee Eviscerates Jay-Z’s Proposed Sanctions Against Him For Alleged Lies

Tony Buzbee faces more hot water than he probably anticipated, although going at Diddy and Jay-Z for alleged sexual assault would never be a small feat. Moreover, not only did he get a lot of pushback from these moguls and their legal teams, but he also faces other accusations of extortion, spreading an STI to someone, pressuring clients for false claims, and a whole lot more. In addition, the story of Buzbee’s client – the anonymous female accuser of Sean Combs and Shawn Carter – has some alleged inconsistencies in it that prompted Hov and his attorney Alex Spiro to request the imposition of sanctions on the lawyer.

Now, according to TMZ, Tony Buzbee has responded to Jay-Z and company’s allegations, labeling them a “frivolous” intimidation tactic. Also, he posited that his client’s inconsistencies in her story against Jay and Diddy – which alleges a 2000 sexual assault when she was 13 years old – are due to the memory being almost 25 years old and from the perspective of a minor. As such, Buzbee believes that the Brooklyn rapper is trying to use small factual corrections to dismiss the entire case as baloney, something that the prosecutor staunchly denies.

Tony Buzbee Slams Jay-Z’s Sanctions Request

Rather, Tony Buzbee does not condone this “bullying” and stands by the idea that these gaps and discrepancies do not invalidate his client’s alleged experience. Of course, he also pointed to Jay-Z and Diddy’s power as massive celebrities, pop culture icons, and business moguls to allegedly silence, threaten, harass, and intimidate those who attempt to expose them for their alleged abhorrent actions. As for the Reasonable Doubt MC, he and his legal team continue to firmly deny any accusations against them, taint Buzbee’s public image, and call into question his ethics and believability.

Meanwhile, the back-and-forth legal battle between these sides still has not resulted in any successful or failed motions for Tony Buzbee or Jay-Z, at least when it comes to this specific lawsuit. Of course, some of the many other lawsuits the attorney brought forth against Diddy did receive small updates here and there, but the big picture is far too broad now. In other words, both sides will need a lot to “prevail.”

Spotify Finally Addresses Drake’s Accusations

Later today (Friday, December 20), a Houston court will hold a hearing concerning the legal petition from Drake against his parent label Universal Music Group and Spotify for allegedly inflating the streams of Kendrick Lamar’s diss track, “Not Like Us.” Before that, though – according to Billboard – the streaming service filed a response to these accusations in Manhattan court on Friday. They called these allegations “false” and characterized the move in court as a “subversion of the normal judicial process.” In addition, the DSP giant alleged that they found no evidence at all of any use of bots, payola, or other alleged methods used to artificially boost the West Coast banger.

Furthermore, Spotify also denied Drake’s claims that they colluded with UMG to ensure Kendrick Lamar’s massive success. “The predicate of Petitioner’s entire request for discovery from Spotify is false,” their legal team expressed. “Spotify and UMG have never had any such arrangement.” Also, much of their filing attacks the 6ix God for taking this to court, wondering why they are a part of these “far-fetched” and “speculative” claims.

Spotify Denies Drake’s Claims

“What petitioner is seeking to do here … is to bypass the normal pleading requirements … and obtain by way of pre-action discovery that which it would only be entitled to seek were it to survive a motion to dismiss,” Spotify’s attorneys wrote concerning the Drake situation. “This subversion of the normal judicial process should be rejected.” We’ll see whether today’s hearing leads to any significant decisions on this matter. In Texas court, another legal matter from Aubrey Graham accuses UMG of defaming him by releasing “Not Like Us” with the alleged knowledge that its accusations are supposedly false.

“The Petition asserts no specific facts of any kind in support of these alleged RICO and deceptive practices violations,” Spotify’s lawyers added concerning the Drake petition. “Instead, it relies exclusively on speculation … or the claims of anonymous individuals on the Internet. […] When we identify attempted stream manipulation, we take action that may include removing streaming numbers, withholding royalties and charging penalty fees. [We also remove] confirmed and suspected artificial streams… from our chart calculations. This helps us to protect royalty payouts for honest, hardworking artists.”

Jay-Z Responds To Tony Buzbee’s Claims Against Roc Nation & His Venereal Disease Accusations

The legal drama between Jay-Z, Diddy, Tony Buzbee, and the former two’s accusers is heating up rapidly. Moreover, the attorney representing an anonymous accuser – who alleges that Jay and Sean Combs sexually assaulted her in 2000 when she was 13 years old – recently sued Roc Nation for allegedly soliciting clients illegally, in addition to his lawsuit against Hov. Now, the Brooklyn rapper has responded with a statement via the Roc’s social media pages, which also addresses a lawsuit against Buzbee that claims he gave a woman a sexually transmitted infection. It’s almost as scathing as his last statement.

“ROCNATION is going to be arrested because his client / alleged ex-lover is accusing him of assaulting her, giving her a venereal disease and asking her to falsify documents in a lawsuit?” Jay-Z wrote. “We suppose it is also ROCNATION’s fault that your other ex-clients are suing you for allegedly stealing their money? No and no. God is behind that sunlight you keep referencing. We are not the source of every sunlight that you get but Roc sunshine is coming your way Mr. 1800. Shameful.”

Jay-Z’s Next Response To Tony Buzbee

https://twitter.com/RocNation/status/1869875665928859825

Tony Buzbee denies any and all allegations against him, and so do Diddy and Jay-Z, so we’ll see how this all plays out. But this comes as some content creators allege that Roc Nation watches over the Internet landscape with a punitive eye. “While we were on the phones and talking to sources and doing our research, two people told me that Roc Nation and Jay-Z have a whole team scouring the Internet and making sure that content creators are not stepping out of line,” YouTuber Trent Out Loud claimed. “And they will send cease and desist letters or legal letters with the quickness. So I wrote these things down [and] sent it to our lawyers to review it just to make sure that we’re in the clear with everything, alright?”

Meanwhile, many also came to Jay-Z’s defense amid this, so we’re still developing the narratives running opposite to each other. Some more firm and direct legal developments will have to emerge to really progress the situation in a significant way.

Fresh & Fit Host Myron Gaines Says He Wants To Put Druski Into A “Concentration Camp”

The Fresh & Fit podcast, hosted by Myron Gaines and Freshprinceceo (real name Walter Weeks), is one of the more controversial dating-related platforms online right now. After multiple controversies over their misogynistic perspectives and their treatment of guests, they find themselves in a lot of hot water. But that drama is also fuel for some clap-backs. For example, Druski recently made fun of the duo, and Gaines responded with a rant that some might see as a step too far. While it was clearly just a harshly edgy response to a comedian, most people would probably refrain from evoking abhorrent crimes in their responses… But not Fresh & Fit.

“Yeah, Druski made a video on us, that fat bastard,” Myron Gaines of the Fresh & Fit podcast remarked. “[…] Bruh, you’re too much of a coward to even come on our show because of your sponsors and brands. […] I mean, if you took our advice, you wouldn’t have wifed up h*e-a** Rubi Rose. That’s f***ing embarrassing. Dude’s putting videos out, kissing her, doing vacations, all this other s**t. He can sit there and say it was a marketing scheme all day. Bro, those are your lips on her, though, n***a, and that girl’s a wh*re.”

Myron Gaines Blasts Druski On Fresh & Fit

“And you’re fat, at the end of the day,” Myron Gaines continued against Druski. “So, bro, if you’re fat, it’s an auto-L. I don’t take nobody serious that’s fat. How are you 300 pounds trying to talk s**t about me, bro? Talking about enhancers. Bro, if I was President of the United States, I’d have your fat a** in a concentration camp, n***a, where you can concentrate on diet and exercise, you fat f**k. Holy s**t, man. Fat n***as sitting here talking s**t about me, bro. We don’t take y’all n***as serious. You guys are second-class citizens in my society, bro. In my eyes, you n***as are third-class citizens. F***ing ridiculous.”

With these harsh words in mind, we wonder if Druski will respond to Fresh & Fit and Myron Gaines’ rant. He has some other flack to address, but we can’t imagine he would pass up an opportunity to clown this duo again.

Lil Baby Breaks His Silence On Kendrick Lamar Name-Dropping Him On “Not Like Us”

Before his two 2025 albums, Lil Baby just underwent a big press run thanks to two revealing and compelling conversations. Specifically, one was with Lil Yachty on his A Safe Place podcast, and the other was with Charlamagne Tha God. As for the latter sit-down, The Breakfast Club‘s cohost asked the Atlanta rapper about Kendrick Lamar name-dropping him on his Drake diss “Not Like Us,” as Baby was one of a few Atlanta MCs that he accused Drizzy of “colonizing.”

“I ain’t really into, like, that side of hip-hop,” Lil Baby revealed concerning Kendrick Lamar’s
“Not Like Us” name-drop. “So I don’t really… You know. [Me and Drake have a] great relationship. Great relationship. It’s just with any situation, like, if you and him was arguing, why the hell you gon’ say me, you know? I don’t be having nothing to do with it. […] To me, like, rap and s**t be my work. It’s, like, I don’t want that type of s**t at work. Even with you saying, like, ‘What’s your relationship with Gunna?’ I ain’t in it for that type of s**t, you know what I’m saying? I ain’t on that.”

Lil Baby Reacts To Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Name-Drop

Furthermore, this is a particularly interesting answer because he doesn’t really take a side between Kendrick Lamar and Drake, although he mentions his great relationship with the latter. Moreover, it seems like Lil Baby really wants nothing to do with that battle, as it’s none of his business and he didn’t really ask for any smoke. But not everything that he discussed during this current press run has to do with hip-hop fare, as he also opened up to Lil Yachty about balancing the relationship between his children and the Internet.

Meanwhile, all these remarks from Lil Baby provide a lot of interesting context for his upcoming albums, and we wonder if these projects will expand on these ideas in any significant way. A lot happened around his name recently, whether that’s Young Thug’s freedom, their strong bond before and afterwards, and how that relates to Gunna beef speculation. We’ll see how all these narratives evolve and if any Atlanta artist will take a strong stance on “Not Like Us.”
