Redman Spazzes Over Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre’s “Tha Shiznit” Beat On Latest Freestyle

Redman is definitely an “instrumental killa,” which he deservedly labels himself on his “SHIZNIT” freestyle. If that title rings a bell, it’s because he’s looking to make Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s “Tha Shiznit” his own. Honestly, he comes really close thanks to his unmistakable delivery and personality on the mic. He may be looking to “jaque” the track at this time, as Snoop and Dre are preparing to drop their first collab tape since Doggystyle with Missionary. That will arrive on December 13. But this piece is about Redman, so let’s get back to it. This “SHIZNIT” release is part of a long-running YouTube series known as “[J@q Boi Be@tz Freestyle].” He selects all sorts of beats to body from Drake to G-Eazy, or he’ll even tackle a ringtone.

All of these off-the-dome releases just further cement how creative and forward-thinking Redman always has been. While he isn’t really dropping new albums or singles that much anymore, the freestyles definitely do the trick. However, the last time we got an LP from the Funk Doctor was in 2015 with Mudface. Fans are praising this freestyle all over social media, especially on Instagram. “Spit that s*** Redman!”, comedian and actor Anthony Anderson writes back. Big Boy adds, “A-1 since Day 1.” Layzie Bone of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony also got in the comments section, “💯🐐💯🐐💯” On “SHIZNIT,” Redman reminds everyone how he’s still got it, never sold his soul, and isn’t going away anytime soon. In fact, you could say everyone else is “microwave,” getting “hot but cold later,” and that he’s that “grandma cooked food.” Check out the bars from one of the GOATs with the link below.

Today in Hip Hop History: Redman Dropped Debut ‘Whut? Thee Album’ 32 Years Ago

On this date in 1992, Brick City, NJ’s own Reggie “Redman” Noble, dropped his debut solo release Whut? Thee Album on the Def Jam imprint.

Produced primarily by the legendary EPMD’s Erick Sermon, Whut? introduced the world to Redman, the newest recruit to the supergroup The Hit Squad. The fans wanted more from what they got from the Newark native on “Hardcore” from EPMD’s ‘Business Never Personal’ album, where Redman was first heard by Erick and Parrish fans, making them Redman fans by default.

Tracks that propelled the album’s success include singles such as the visual accompanying “Time 4 Sum Aksion”, “Tonight’s TDa Night,” the weed-rolling anthem “How To Roll A Blunt,” and the beginning of the ever-evolving saga of “The Sooper man Lover.” This four-and-a-half mic album was certified gold by the RIAA in less than a year and certified official by the streets upon its release.

Big shouts to Redman and Erick Sermon for making the Funk Doctor Spock’s first project a certified Hip Hop classic!

Method Man Says He Wasn’t Mad at the Summer Jam Crowd: ‘I Showed Grace’

DidYouNoticeMethodManHasn'tCursedonaSongSince?

Method Man is expanding on his comments about never returning to Summer Jam. TMZ tracked down the legend and gave more details.

“I wasn’t mad at the crowd,” Meth said. “It was just a generation gap. I showed grace.”

He added, “I don’t think it’s fair. I would never point my finger at the crowd for not liking my music…I was there for Mister Cee and it was New York. I figured, I’m in New York, I’m in my backyard. [People] know who I am.

“That was me having a self aware moment.”

Don’t expect to see Method Man’s name on future Hot 97 Summer Jam lineups. After taking the stage on Sunday in support of the event’s 30th anniversary, Meth stated the generation gap of the crowd was “too wide.”

“Not our crowd at all,” Method Man wrote. “Thanks again, New York and the whole tri-state (that showed up to the event) plus Pete and Ebro. I got love for you guys. But never again.. at this point the generation gap is just too wide for me. #nevercomingback.”

Method Man took the stage with longtime collaborator Redman, performing hits including “Da Rockweiler.”

Soulja Boy is a voice of reason. Seeing the headlines about Method Man opting not to perform at Hot 97’s Summer Jam, Big Draco has offered his opinion.

“I don’t think he mean that. He probably just in his feelings,” Soulja said to TMZ. “He probably perform at a future event, you know what I’m saying? But shout out to him. That’s New York, though. Everybody supposed to know who he is.

“There probably was a lot of young people in the audience. Shout out to him. He’s definitely a legend, for sure. He entitled to respond however he feel like.”
