Offset Speaks On “Healing” BET Awards Performance With Quavo

Earlier this year, former Migos members Offset and Quavo teamed up for a surprise performance at the BET Awards. The team-up came together at the last minute as we saw with a behind-the-scenes video shared afterward. The duo came together to pay tribute to the third member of Migos, Takeoff. Take was tragically murdered last year which absolutely shocked the rap world. Now after his two former bandmates linked up on stage Offset is talking about just how healing the experience was.

“That was healing for the world and us,” he said in a recent interview. According to reports, he and Quavo hadn’t been on speaking terms since the disbanding of Migos earlier last year. Following Takeoff’s death, the pair reunited to pay tribute to him which eventually led to one of the most memorable moments at this year’s BET Awards. Fans in the comments also expressed support for the pair and their performance. “Sad when someone has to pass away before we reconcile with family though. Better late then never i guess,” the top comment reads. “The best part out of the whole entire show!” another fan says of the performance. Check out the full interview clip below.

Offset Explains Reuniting With Quavo At BET Awards

Offset’s first new solo album since 2019 is right around the corner. The project is called Set It Off and he shared the feature-packed tracklist to Instagram earlier this week. Travis Scott, Cardi B, Future, Latto, and Don Toliver are just a few of the artists set to appear on the album.

One person who won’t be heard on the album is Playboi Carti. Despite some teases from Offset the rapper wasn’t included on the tracklist and he gave some hints as why. He liked a tweet talking about how Carti likely didn’t clear the verse for release, which he’s been known to do in the past. What do you think of Offset’s thoughts on his on-stage appearance with Quavo? Let us know in the comment section below.

Janelle Monáe‘s world takeover continues. Tonight (October 6), the illustrious musician has shared a remix to a fan favorite from her fourth studio album, The Age Of Pleasure.

On a special ATL remix to “Champagne Sh*t,” Monáe joins forces with fellow Atlanta rap stars, Latto and Quavo. Throughout the course of the song, the three are in triumphant spirits, as they toast to their wins.

Having been killing the rap game and maintaining a consistent flow of features and hits, Latto enjoys the fruits of her labor.

“College girl I’m tryna pay your tuition / Red bone kissing, casamigos pissin / Trying go home to the D like a piston,” she raps, reminding us that she’s got the game on lock.

You can listen to “Champagne Sh*t (ATL Remix)” above.

Janelle Monáe is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Saweetie & Quavo: Californian Put On Blast For Mean-Mugging Club Patron Who Bumped Into Her Then-BF

Saweetie’s music may come across as being written by a baddie who doesn’t often get caught up in her feelings, but as a proud Cancer, she knows she’s one of the most sensitive signs of the zodiac. We saw this especially during her relationship with Quavo, which ran for three years until its tumultuous end in early 2021. At the time, the Icy Girl insinuated that her other half had been unfaithful toward her. Falling victim to cheating is painful enough for a regular person. To have it happen in the public eye, with the person you planned to spend the rest of your life with made things increasingly painful for Saweetie.

When she and Quavo were together, the fashionista’s love for her man was obvious. She didn’t necessarily come across as the jealous type, but their constant PDA proved that both lovers enjoyed having their hands on each other only. Earlier this week, a curious Twitter user put out a public inquiry about “f**ked up and evil” interactions with celebrities, and one user had a story to tell about Saweetie and her ex. “I accidentally bumped Quavo in the club,” the woman alleged in her reply.

Saweetie Didn’t Play About Quavo During Their Relationship

“Saweetie looked like she wanted to swing on me 😭,” she continued. “We go outside, this b**ch got in the RR truck, cracked the window, locked me up and down and mean-mugged me like Snoop did Jody on ‘Baby Boy.’” Now that the story is making rounds on blogs, other users are debating how valid it is. “This whole interaction was too specific 😂,” one person pointed out. “[You] lucky that’s all she did 😂😂😂. She did not play bout him,” another chimed in.

Things may not have worked out between her and Quavo, but that didn’t stop Saweetie from moving on with another rapper. She took some time to heal from and reflect on the drama that led up to her breakup, but now, the West Coast baddie is boo’d up with YG, who she’ll be headed out on tour with in the near future. Read more about one of the couple’s recent date nights at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Quavo Joins Community Justice in Gun Violence Advocacy, Meets Vice President Kamala Harris

IMG 1887

Grammy-nominated artist and philanthropist Quavo stood alongside Community Justice on September 20th in Washington, DC, to advocate for community-driven solutions to combat gun violence. This day of advocacy aimed to raise awareness about the importance of supporting grassroots initiatives for gun violence prevention.

A day later, President Joe Biden made a significant announcement, establishing the first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Vice President Kamala Harris will lead this office, with Greg Jackson, outgoing Executive Director of Community Justice and partner of the Rocket Foundation, serving as Deputy Director.

This initiative is part of a broader effort championed by Community Justice, which views gun violence as a public health crisis. The organization advocates for community-based solutions, offering increased resources and a holistic approach to gun violence prevention.

Quavo’s day in Washington included a meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris and discussions with members of the Congressional Black Caucus and Congressional leadership. A panel discussion on gun violence prevention, part of the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference, was also led by Quavo and Greg Jackson. Throughout the day, they emphasized the importance of funding community-led initiatives, tackling gun violence as a public health risk, and advocating for the passage of the Break the Cycle Of Violence Act.

Quavo has become an influential advocate for gun violence prevention, launching The Rocket Foundation with a commitment of $2 million to invest in community violence intervention following the tragic loss of his nephew, Takeoff, a member of Migos, who was fatally shot during an altercation at a bowling alley.

Community Justice focuses on supporting Black and Brown communities disproportionately affected by gun violence. They promote a public health approach, including community-based violence intervention, coalition building, and proactive policy measures.

With the appointment of Greg Jackson to the new White House office, Community Justice will begin the search for an interim director, while Amber Goodwin and Anthony Smith assume day-to-day leadership responsibilities for the organization.

Quavo Meets with VP Harris and Members of Congress to Combat Gun Violence

Quavo Meets with VP Harris and Members of Congress

Quavo was on hand at the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference on Wednesday speaking with lawmakers on how to combat gun violence. In addition to a private meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris, Quavo also met with House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and New Jersey Senator Corey Booker.

According to Complex, Quavo was in attendance as a respresentative of his Rocket Foundation, created in memory of Takeoff. The organization was created to “support programs which are saving lives through proven, community-based solutions to prevent gun violence.”

Joining Quavo in D.C. was his mother Edna Marshall and sister Titani Davenport who is the mother of Takeoff.

During his visit, Quavo told the Associated Press Takeoff’s death inspired his movements. “I need to step up to the plate and hit a home run. I have to do something about it, so it won’t happen to the masses—especially in our culture. I don’t want this to happen to the next person. I want to knock down these percentage.”

In August, Quavo released a new video from his Rocket Power album, sharing the touching “Touch Me” visual. The video captures a memorial event honoring Takeoff, where he and their family members gathered to let off lanterns to celebrate the late rapper.

The video also takes Quavo to Paris, where he continues to uplift the memory of Takeoff to great fan response.

Are Doja Cat And Quavo Dating?

Dating rumors are pretty commonplace in hip-hop. A new one popped up today, courtesy of the Daily Mail in the UK, but it might be one to take with a grain of salt. According to the Mail, Doja Cat met up with fellow rapper Quavo for a dinner date at Carbone in New York on Monday (September 11). The restaurant’s known for being a celebrity hotspot, so it’s reasonable that they both ate there. Are they “dating,” though?

It’s tough to say that they were on a “date,” per se. For one thing, Doja’s been romantically tied recently to social media personality Jeffrey Cyrus (aka J.Cyrus). Doja seemed serious enough about the seeming relationship to block fans who criticized her over it, although she had yet to comment on it publicly. Plus, aside from both being rappers, it doesn’t seem like Quavo and Doja actually have all that much in common.

The one tenuous connection they do share would also seem to preclude a romantic connection. In 2021, Quavo had a very public and messy breakup with rapper Saweetie, who had collaborated with Doja Cat on the single “Best Friend” earlier that year. Doja dating Quavo seems like a huge violation of girl code, although I freely admit I am no expert (Saweetie has seemingly moved on since, and was most recently linked with Compton rapper YG).

So is Doja dating Quavo? It seems unlikely but the jury’s out. On one hand, the Mail has a horrible track record with this sort of stuff. On the other, we live in a world where Avril Lavigne is spending significant time with Tyga. Anything is possible.

Quavo Demands A Mixtape Outlet On Platforms So Artists Can Release More New Music

Quavo may be hot off the release of his latest album Rocket Power, but he’s already prepared to drop more heat. However, the former Migo believes that there isn’t a platform to give fans more music without going through all the label and platform hurdles that singles and studio albums entail. Moreover, he recently took to Twitter to share that he wants a mixtape outlet for DSPs so he doesn’t have to hold back as much as he does. In his message, the Georgia native recalled the days in which tapes from Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, Future, and the Migos themselves came out very often, thanks to platforms like DatPiff and others. It’s a complicated situation, but one that artists could surely take upon themselves to address.

“Platforms need a mixtape outlet for US,” Quavo recently tweeted on Friday (September 8). “So we can blitz the market like lil Wayne Gucci future and MIGOS did! tired of holding all this HEATTTT #RocketPower Powered Up. Havin plenty to go back to back to back!” Of course, with the advent of services like Apple Music, they treat every release the same as far as commercial drops. As such, mixtapes are still subject to the same rules as studio treatment, for the most part.

This means that artists like Quavo have to jump through a lot of hoops to share music with fans. There’s publishing and distribution qualms, sample clearance regulations, revenue splits, label approval, and so much more. Sure, you can upload things to YouTube or SoundCloud, but those platforms can’t compare to the prolific and built-in audience that mixtapes garnered via DatPiff about a decade ago. Maybe the trap artist is referring to something else, but that’s the era that statements like these evoke.

Meanwhile, the “Patty Cake” MC is still getting mileage out of Rocket Power, having recently released the music video for “Galaxy.” Maybe in the future, there will be a way for artists to more easily share mixtapes and extra material they want to gift fans. The opportunities and avenues are certainly there; all it takes is the leap. On that note, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Quavo and the mixtape game.
