Nelly Does A Ja Rule Impression While Joining Ashanti On Stage

Much of the news revolving around Nelly and Ashanti recently hasn’t had much to do with anything they’ve done on stage. Social media lit up earlier this week when Ashanti posted a video of the singer rubbing her belly in a way that indicated to many fans that she might be pregnant. Rumors began to swirl immediately but they didn’t last all that long before being officially confirmed. A source broke the news the same day that the couple are expecting a child together.

Now video is making the rounds from a performance over the weekend that saw the two sharing the stage. During the performance, Ashanti unpacked her classic 2002 hit “Mesmerize.” But where the song would normally feature Ja Rule, Nelly stepped in. He even managed to impress some fans both in attendance and online afterward with the quality of his impression. Check out one of the clips of his performance below.

Another person that many fans are talking about in the wake of the pregnancy news is Irv Gotti. He notoriously claimed to have a romantic relationship with Ashanti during an episode of Drink Champs last year. So the revelation that she is actually dating Nelly and that they’re now expecting a child together caused plenty of fans to give Gotti some flak.

Tasha K also went viral earlier this year for her issues with the pairs relationship. She called out Nelly’s past actions and claimed that Ashanti should somehow be above dating him once again. Even when she had the opportunity to back down on her comments she instead chose to double down. “I don’t want to see a MF spin the block on you to do the same thing he did to you before,” the blogger said in her second rant on the subject. Irv Gotti is facing plenty of trolling on social media amid reports that Nelly and Ashanti are welcoming their first baby together. Gotti famously suggested he had a romantic relationship with her during his Drink Champs interview in 2022. Now, fans are letting him have it on Twitter.

“Irv Gotti gotta be in his living room spiraling outta control now that Nelly got Ashanti pregnant,” one user wrote on Monday. In numerous other posts, fans shared memes poking fun at the Murder Inc. Records founder.

Ashanti downplayed her relationship with Gotti during an interview with Angie Martinez after his Drink Champs comments. “Let’s clear this up. We’re not gonna say relationship,” the singer said at the time. “We dealt with each other, but was Irv my boyfriend? Was I his girlfriend? Never…Irv had several girlfriends, so I’m a little confused by the label and the description.”

Later, Gotti addressed the situation in a post on The Shade Room’s Instagram account. “Did I bring Ashanti up? You did it. Here’s what I’m going to say. I wish Ashanti nothing but the best. I’m not hooked on her, like ‘I can’t get over her.’ It’s none of that sh*t,” Gotti said. “I got paid to do a documentary on my life and on Murder Inc. To begin November, we heard from the “Pound Town” hitmaker on a joint track with Kevin Gates and B.G., called “Yonce Freestyle.” Before that, Red came through with “Shake Yo Dreads” at the end of September, which has since become a favourite on apps like TikTok. After confirming her deluxe LP, the controversial starlet has been previewing some of the new tracks online, one of which plays in a fiery thirst trap video posted on Monday (November 20).

Of course, Riri just gave birth to her second child a few months ago. Consequently, fans were rightfully wondering how she is already pregnant. After all, the timeline of something like that just simply does not make much sense. Well, the community notes on Twitter swooped in and saved the day.

However, it was absolutely necessary as to not cause the rumor to spread even further. If Rihanna and ASAP Rocky do decide to have another child, they will tell us when they are ready. For now, however, that does not appear to be in the cards.
