Who Will Host The 2022 MTV VMAs?

The MTV VMAs awards show is happening this year on August 28th. The MTV Video Music Awards crowns the best music videos from artists of all genres and while the 2021 MTV VMAs was hosted by Doja Cat, the MTV VMAs 2022 actually has three different hosts. One is a familiar hosting face, and the other two are more eclectic choices that will make for a unique broadcast.

Who will host the 2022 MTV VMAs?

The three hosts for the VMAs in 2022 are LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj, and Jack Harlow. Harlow is an interesting choice, because along with Kendrick Lamar and Lil Nas X, he leads the way in the field with seven MTV VMAs nominations as well. Along with hosting duties, Minaj will be accepting the yearly MTV Video Vanguard Award, too. While Minaj and Harlow have never hosted an awards show of this magnitude before, LL Cool J has hosted the Grammys five times, so he should have no trouble helping them along.

Doja Cat Reaches A Vape-Free Milestone But It Hasn’t Been Easy: ‘I’m Going To Peel My F*cking Skin Off’

Doja Cat may be on hiatus this summer, following a tonsil surgery back in May, but this hasn’t stopped her from accomplishing great personal feats. On top of cutting her hair and embracing a new look, Doja has taken to Instagram Live today, where she announced she has gone 70 days without using her vape.

“I quit vaping, it’s day 70 of no vape,” Doja said while painting. “Day 70. Are you proud of me? Day f*cking 70, no vaping.”

While Doja seemed excited to share the news, adjusting to a tobacco-and-nicotine-free life is appearing to be no easy task, as she continued, “I would love to have a smoke. In the name of love… I would love to have a f*cking smoke. Motherf*cker. I’m going to peel my f*cking skin off.”

She revealed she would be quitting vaping back in May, following the surgery, as she was afraid vaping would result in her tonsils getting reinfected.

“nah im too scared to hit it cuz my throat hurts so bad,” Doja said. “i cried for hours. its not worth it. then its like imagine all that wierd poisonous sh*t in the vape seeping into the completely open wound in my throat like f*ck that. im hella young.”

Elon Musk’s 2020 EDM Song ‘Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe’ Triumphantly Returns In A New Tesla Ad

It seems like Elon Musk never stops, and in early 2020, he even found time to release an EDM song, “Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe.” It’s been about two-and-a-half years since the track came out and now it’s back, via a new Tesla ad.

The clip runs for about 90 seconds and features four Tesla cars putting on a light show in a warehouse, synchronized to the song. The tune’s lyrics — “Don’t doubt your vibe / Because it’s true / Don’t doubt your vibe / Because it’s you” — are also projected on a wall.

Meanwhile, Musk was recently amused by a Billie Eilish meme about him, which has childhood photos of them both and reads, “One day, Billie Eilish was walking outside and she saw a boy crying. She said to him ‘Here kid, have a roll of Air Conditioning Pair Coil 1/4’ by 3/8’ 410A 20m Polyethylene UV protected insulated Copper heat resistant to 120C. You’re destined to do great things.’ That boy was Elon Musk.” Musk added, “Still so grateful.”

Elsewhere, the world’s richest person recently declared his two main goals for the year are getting his SpaceX Starship to orbit and the wide release of FSD (full self-driving) in Tesla cars, adding, “Many other things, of course, but those are the 2 giant kahunas. Will require insane work by many super talented people, but, if anyone can do it, they can. It is an honor to work with such awesome human beings.”

Pharrell Avoids Embarrassment With A Perfectly Fine First Pitch At A New York Yankees Game

50 Cent, Carly Rae Jepsen, and Mariah Carey are all hugely successful musicians, but baseball fans may know them best as purveyors of some of the worst ceremonial first pitches in the history of the sport. It’s not all bad when it comes to musical artists doing athletic stuff, though, as Kevin Morby just had a fantastic first pitch at a Kansas City Royals game in July. At Yankee Stadium yesterday (August 22), it was Pharrell’s turn to take the mound before the Yankees played the Mets, offering a perfectly fine throw that was closer in quality to Morby than it was to Carey.

Alongside 13-year-old son Rocket Ayer Williams, Pharrell stood just in front of the mound and offered a throw that was a bit of a lob, but his form looked comfortable and the pitch landed in the strike zone, with the catcher only having to get out of his crouch slightly to catch the ball as it sailed over the plate. Considering how poorly moments like this have gone in the past, Pharrell did a good job and kept his name off an all-time-worst list.

As Pharrell took the field, he wore items from his new Billionaire Boys Club x Yankees special edition apparel line the launched yesterday, which was the reason for Pharrell’s presence on the field. The clothing and other goodies are available for purchase in various ways, including at Yankee Stadium and on the Billionaire Boys Club website.

The Weeknd’s Merch Trailer Reportedly Caught On Fire After His Show In Vegas

After The Weeknd‘s show at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Saturday night, a large fire erupted outside of the venue, as reported by Variety. Fans noticed the fire and immediately shared pictures on social media, wasting no time before making “the concert was on fire” jokes.

While no injuries or deaths were reported, a vehicle containing fan merchandise had caught fire in the parking lot. Photos shared on social media have indicated that the vehicle was completely destroyed.

At the time of writing, The Weeknd had not yet commented on the destruction of the merch vehicle, however, he appears to be in good spirits, taking to Twitter to say that he’s looking forward to his next stop on the “After Hours Until Dawn” tour in Vancouver.

Additionally, he has several projects in the works, including an upcoming series for HBO called The Idol. While we don’t have a premiere date for The Idol yet, he has played trailers and teasers for the show during his tour stops, building up anticipation for the upcoming series, which he also developed alongside Euphoria creator Sam Levinson.

He also is set to release a new single called “Sci-Fi” with Grimes soon, which she described as “a trip” in an interview with Vogue China, as translated by fans and reported by NME.

The After Hours Til Dawn tour is set to continue until September 22, where he will conclude the run at Toronto’s Rogers Centre.

Rihanna Offers A Mystery Ketchup Packet Set With Her Unusual New Fenty Beauty Collaboration

Fenty Beauty is a huge deal for Rihanna, considering it’s a major part of what helped her become a billionaire and the world’s richest female musician. That said, the brand doesn’t always take itself too seriously, as its latest collaboration indicates.

The MSCHF x Fenty Beauty Ketchup Or Makeup is what it sounds like: The set comes with six identical-looking ketchup packets, although they aren’t all filled with ketchup. Some of them are, while the other ones have Fenty’s cherry-colored Gloss Bomb lip gloss in them. The set can be purchased for $25 via ketchupormakeup.com or at a a New York hotdog stand pop-up shop.

The offbeat endeavor is a collaboration with MSCHF, who first came to prominence with the infamous Lil Nas X Satan Shoes in 2021 and also teamed with The Weeknd this year on a version of “Out Of Time” released on a saw blade.

As for Rihanna, she has remained mostly out of the spotlight over the past few months, since she reportedly gave birth to her and ASAP Rocky’s son in May. Meanwhile, in an interview from April, she said of new music, “I’m looking at my next project completely differently from the way I had wanted to put it out before. I think this way suits me better, a lot better. It’s authentic, it’ll be fun for me, and it takes a lot of the pressure off.”

Michael Jackson Fans Fume After ‘Rolling Stone’ Calls Harry Styles ‘The New King Of Pop’

Love or hate Harry Styles’s music, there’s simply no denying that he’s got pop culture in a chokehold. His latest Harry’s House single, “As It Was,” throttled the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 10 weeks in a row until being dethroned on the most recent chart by Nicki Minaj and still landed at No. 2 only losing less than a percent of its streams last week. Meanwhile, Harry’s House itself was a massive hit overall, with a jaw-dropping pure sales total (330,000) and over a half-million equivalent units in its first week.

But even with all those accolades to his name, there are plenty of folks who believe that Rolling Stone UK overstepped its bounds in calling Styles “the new King of Pop” — a title that was originally reserved for the one-and-only late, great Michael Jackson. And let’s keep all the way funky; however impressive Harry Styles’ current level of success is, it still pales in comparison to MJ’s heights, which may never be achieved again, even with the advent of streaming (or maybe because of it). Thriller is 34× Platinum certified by the RIAA and is still the best-selling album ever.

This is why it makes sense that there were those quick to shut down Rolling Stone‘s proclamation, including MJ’s nephew Taj Jackson, who settled the debate succinctly on Twitter, writing, “The title has been retired. No disrespect to Harry Styles, he’s mega talented. Give him his own unique title.” Plenty of others agreed with him, censuring Rolling Stone UK for its audacity.
