Donald Trump is reportedly workshopping several more nicknames for his upcoming primary opponent, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. For now, the former President has been using the name, “Ron DeSanctimonious,” to attack his 2024 rival. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Trump has a list of frontrunners for a new nickname that includes “Tiny D,” “Ron Dishonest,” and “Ron DeEstablishment.”
It’s not the first time reports have surfaced about Trump working on a new nickname for DeSantis. Earlier this year, Trump replied to similar stories in a post on his site, Truth Social. “All of the Fake News is reporting that I spend large amounts of my time coming up with a good ‘nickname’ for Ron DeSanctimonious, who is obviously going to give the presidential ‘thing’ a shot. They are all 100% wrong, I don’t even think about it — A very unimportant subject to me!!!” Trump wrote.

Trump has previously taken credit for DeSantis becoming Governor of Florida, a role that launched him into the national spotlight for 2024. Appearing on The Hugh Hewitt Show, last month, Trump remarked: “He was dead, he was leaving the race. He came over and he begged me, begged me, for an endorsement. He was getting ready to drop out. There were tears coming down from his eyes. He said: ‘If you endorse me, I’ll win.’ So I end up doing it, and he wins.”
The RealClearPolitics average of polls on the predicted GOP candidates currently places Trump at 45 percent while DeSantis remains significantly lower at 29 percent. Other candidates for the Republican primary include Nikki Haley, and likely Mike Pence, Mike Pompeo, and Tim Scott, although they’ve yet to confirm. Pence is currently listed at 7 percent and Haley sits even lower at 5 percent.
As a man who’s spent more time in the White House than most others, Joe Biden is no stranger to the countless feuds that make place in the world of politics. Over two years into his presidency, the Pennsylvania native has been reflecting on what he’s accomplished so far, as well as what he’s got planned for the future (including another potential run). As The Independent reports, Biden was earlier falsely blamed for the opioid overdoses of brothers Kyler and Caleb Kiessling, sons of pro-life activist Rebecca Kiessling. Earlier this week, Greene claimed that the sitting president is responsible for the young men’s passing, though it was actually during the Trump administration when they lost their lives. “I’ve read she was very specific recently saying that a mom, a poor mother who lost two kids to fentanyl, that I killed her sons,” the politician said during an event in Baltimore on Wednesday (March 1).

It was the laugh that seems to have upset Kiessling and many others, who feel as though President Biden is making light of the mother’s immense loss. Criticism has obviously been constantly pouring in across social media all week long. In response, press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed the media, explaining POTUS’ view of the situation.
She began, “When it comes to this president, I believe the American people knows who he is. They have watched him go through grief. He expressed sympathy for her last night. And his heart goes out to any person, any person who has to go through that type of trauma, that type of hurt.” According to Jean-Pierre, Biden’s words are being “mischaracterized by someone who is regularly discredited for things that she says that are really conspiracy theories.”

Lori Lightfoot’s run as Chicago mayor is coming to a close. The city held its mayoral election to close in February, which resulted in Lightfoot conceding and not making the cut for a run-off.
Lightfoot made history as Chicago’s first openly gay and Black woman to take the mayor’s office.
The runoff election is set for April and will feature candidates Paul Vallas and Brandon Johnson.
According to ABC7Chicago, Lightfoot spoke to her base of supporters after her loss and stated she was proud of what she did in the city. One of the hindrances to Lightfoot’s reelection bid is rising crime numbers during her tenure, which has become the top issue for voters.
“Regardless of tonight’s outcome, we fought the right fights, and we put this city on a better path,” Lightfoot said. “Now, as we all know in life, in the end, you don’t always win every battle. But you never regret taking on the powerful and bringing in the light.”
Lightfoot plans to remain a citizen of Chicago once her tenure is over.
Since taking over as Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk’s posts on the social media platform have been undeniably controversial. Ever the advocate for free speech, the South African engineer’s latest scandal finds him coming to the aid of a famous cartoonist who’s become known as a racist. As Salon reports, Scott Adams, the creator of the Dilbert comic strip, has been dropped by hundreds of newspapers across the nation for making damaging comments about the Black community in a now-viral video.
It all began when the artist shared the latest episode of his YouTube series, Real Coffee with Scott Adams. At the time, he repeatedly shared his thoughts that Black people are part of a “racist hate group.” He appears to have fallen into the school of thought after seeing Rasmussen Reports’ poll revealing that a reported 53% of Black Americans agreed with the statement, “It’s OK to be white.”

Of course, the number of critics Adams has is steadily growing, but luckily for him, one of the biggest accounts on Twitter is coming to his rescue. On Sunday (February 26), Elon Musk turned the tables with a tweet suggesting that there are bigger issues to deal with as far as racism goes.

He then noted that the same thing previously happened with elite colleges and high schools around the country. “Maybe they can try not being racist,” the controversial public figure wrote, leading to further debate. President Joe Biden could be eyeing a repeat at the presidency. But what does his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, have to say about it? She had a simple answer: “I’m all for it.”
Dr. Biden spoke with CNN and was asked did President Biden thought about not taking on a second term.
“Not in my book,” Dr.Biden said. “I’m all for it, of course.”
As of yet, President Biden has not formally announced a reelection campaign. Meanwhile, republican candidates are continuing to announce their candidacies.
While she is supportive, Dr. Biden is making sure that it is solely the decision of her husband. “And we support whatever he wants to do. If he’s in, we’re there. If he wants to do something else, we’re there too.”
In January, Dr. Biden had three skin lesions removed on Wednesday, two of which were detected as cancerous. The cancerous tissue was removed and she was expected to return to the White House later in the day as advised by her doctor.
President Biden accompanied his wife to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, just outside of Washington, where he stayed with his wife for nearly eight hours, leaving only after O’Connor’s report was released. The president returned to the White House in the late afternoon with hopeful news.
Dr. Kevin O’Connor, physician to the president, said, “The first lady is experiencing some facial swelling and bruising, but is in good spirits and is feeling well.”
A week before, the White House announced that the first lady would be having Mohs surgery to remove a small lesion above her right eye that had been found during a routine skin cancer examination.
Basal cell carcinoma was confirmed by Dr. O’Connor, as he stated, “All cancerous tissue was successfully removed, and the margins were clear of any residual skin cancer cells.” Doctors found two more lesions while the first lady was at the hospital as they prepared the first lady for surgery. O’Connor reported the removal of a second lesion on Jill Biden’s left eyelid that has been sent for microscopic examination.
Doctors further identified “an additional area of concern” on the left side of her chest, and removed a lesion using Mohs surgery. Basal cell carcinoma was also confirmed in that lesion, O’Conner said, mentioning all cancerous tissue had been removed. Basal cell carcinoma is not a notoriously aggressive form of cancer and does not spread as fast as other serious skin cancers do. However, they can increase in size, leading to a more difficult removal.
First lady Jill Biden has been a continuing advocate for cancer research– traveling to cancer research and treatment centers. Her passion is inspired by the breast cancer diagnosis of four of her friends in 1993, reported The White House. In 2015, her son Beau Biden died from brain cancer. President Joe Biden started the “Cancer Moonshot,” an initiative to drastically reduce the number of deaths caused by cancer,during his first year as vice president. Cancer Moonshot was relaunched in 2022.
The Skin Cancer Foundation reports that the Mohs procedure was developed in the late 1930s by surgeon Frederic Mohs and is used to remove basal and squamous cell carcinomas. Basal cell carcinomas are the most common type of skin cancer and are typically mild due to slow growth. Treatability has high success when detected early.
The surgery begins with locating and marking the spot. The area is then anesthetized to numb it, but patients remain awake. The doctor then removes a visible layer of skin tissue from the area and takes it to the lab to be analyzed. In the lab, they cut the tissue into sections, dye it and map out the area it was taken from. A technician freezes the tissue, further slices it thinly into horizontal sections and places it under a microscope for examination. If cancer cells are present, another layer is removed from the surgical site and the process repeats until the cancer cells are gone.

He has been vilified by avid Trump and MAGA supporters but praised by their opponents.

During his conversation with Maher earlier this month, the crux of the discussion was about the likes of CRT and The 1619 Project shining a light on the ongoing impact the institution of slavery has had on American history. Maher doesn’t believe in 1619‘s mission of dissecting the Transatlantic Slave Trade’s influence, but Cranston thinks it’s essential. “In Florida, they want to do away with critical race theory, and a lot of other states,” said the actor. “I mean, teaching how the race trade and racism is systemic in everything we’ve done in government, in social activities.”
Jill Biden just gave a strong hint that husband Joe plans to run for a second term as President. Moreover, she recently spoke to AP News about the prospect, although she didn’t necessarily make the announcement for him. Instead, the First Lady spoke on how the 46th President still has work to be done in the White House. As such, she suggested that it’s only a matter of time and place in relation to the announcement of his next step. While his presidency has by no means been perfect or beloved, his reelection could result in a long-lasting win for Democrats.
“Is there any reason for any of us to think that he is not running again?” the interviewer asked Jill. “We’ve heard him say several time that it is his intention.” Then, his wife had a pretty interesting answer. “Are you not believing this, darling?” she replied while laughing along with the interviewer. “I mean, how many times does he have to say it till you believe it? No, he says he’s not done. He’s not finished what he’s started, and that’s what’s important. I think- look at all that Joe has done, has accomplished.”
In addition, Jill said there’s nothing to do besides picking the right time and place to announce the reelection campaign. However, the President will face an increasingly polarized nation and will deal with criticisms and controversies surrounding his first term. For example, Biden faced accusations of wrongdoing after authorities discovered classified documents in his homes on multiple occasions. In fact, the Department of Justice even appointed a special counsel to oversee the investigation and determine any malevolent will. Biden’s team maintains they were misplaced with no deeper intent or incriminatory manner.
Meanwhile, his potential Republican opponent for these elections, former President Donald Trump, recently took aim at these scandals. “The White House just announced that there are no LOGS or information of any kind of visitors to the Wilmington house and flimsy, unlocked, and unsecured, but now very famous garage,” he tweeted. “Maybe they are smarter than we think! One of the “Central Park Five” is running for City Council.
Yusef Salaam is one of the “Exonerated Five,” as they are now known, the teenagers who were wrongly convicted of raping a woman in Central Park in 1989. After fighting for his freedom, the Harlem native is ready to fight for his hometown.
Their convictions were overturned in 2002 and in December saw their name etched in stone on a gate to the park.
Salaam, who spent seven years behind bars, is running in Council District 9, representing the heart of Harlem, where he grew up.
“We are here now to chart a new path forward,” he said during a speech at the old Harlem YMCA on 135th Street.
Decades before he became president, Donald Trump took out a full-page ad calling for the Central Park Five to face the death penalty, which Salaam referenced in his announcement.
“In a country that’s supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, they saw the color of our skin and said ‘Guilty, guilty, guilty,’” he said. “It would have been OK if Donald Trump had taken out a full-page ad when we were found to be innocent.”
In 2002, a judge vacated the convictions of Salaam and the four other members of the Central Park Five after the Manhattan district attorney’s office filed a motion with a new theory of the case — and a different suspect. Prosecutors said that after conducting a new investigation, they no longer believed that Salaam and the others had committed the crime.
Since then, Salaam has written a memoir, become a motivational speaker and has advocated for criminal justice reform. His case has also been documented in books, a documentary and a Netflix miniseries.
Salaam is challenging Harlem Councilmember Kristin Richardson Jordan for her seat. The incumbent councilmember did not immediately respond to requests for comment. But after Salaam first shared that he was considering a run last fall, Richardson Jordan said in a statement to the news site Patch: “I think we have enough millionaires in office already. That is part of the problem.”
As part of his Kevin Hart: Reality Check tour, Kevin Hart was booked to perform his first Egypt show on February 21st. The show was canceled, however, due to “local logistical issues,” the organizers revealed on Instagram. Allegedly, the cancelation followed uproar from local Egyptians who were upset with the comedian’s “Afrocentric” views. Eurweb reports that Hart has been accused of “distorting history.” Previously, the 43-year-old had stated, ”we must teach our children the true history of Black Africans when they were kings in Egypt and not just the era of slavery that is cemented by education in America. Do you remember the time when we were kings?”
Egyptian Twitter users were quick to clap back on Hart’s allegations, which contributed to the #StopAfroCentricConference boycott. One user went as far as to Tweet, “want to steal and attribute Egypt’s civilization to Africans and tell modern Egyptians that we are occupying Egypt from them. We must all participate in the campaign to cancel Kevin’s concert.” Evidently, the dissatisfaction from Egyptians was enough for the show organizers to cancel one day before Hart’s performance.
While both Afrocentric scholars and Egyptian critics maintain strong opinions on history, Dean of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Egypt Monica Hanna believes that the truth remains in the middle. “Both extreme Egyptian nationalists and Afrocentrists adopt discourses based on racist ideas of color and ethnicity,” she said to News Line, “that are utterly detached from scientific, historical, and cultural facts.” Additionally, Hanna compares the feud to fights between “violent rival football fans.”
Still, anger against Hart’s Afrocentric comments were enough to dismantle his comedy show this week. Accordingly, several users took to Twitter to express their appreciation for the decision. For example, one user wrote, “Kevin, Hart’s nonsense show canceled keep his Afrocentric ass out of Egypt,” while another mentioned, “Seeing Kevin hart’s show here get canceled is so satisfying to see.” While his Cairo show remains canceled, Hart will continue his Reality Check tour in Abu Dhabi tonight (February 22nd). The family of Malcolm X is suing the NYPD, the state of New York, and federal agencies for $100 million. They allege that the government concealed evidence in the murder of the activist. The news comes 58 years after the killing of Malcolm X. His daughters Qubilah Shabazz, 62, and Ilyasah Shabazz, 60, provided formal notice of the lawsuit alongside attorney Ben Crump on Tuesday. They made the announcement at the Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Education Center located in NYC. Previously named the Audubon Ballroom, it is the location where Malcolm X was murdered.
The lawsuit comes after a $36 million settlement was reached in 2021. The decision was made following the wrongful conviction of Muhammad Aziz and Khalil Islam. Judge Ellen Biben said at the time: ”I regret that this court cannot undo the serious miscarriage of justice. There can be no question that this is a case that cries out for fundamental justice.”

Nation of Islam leader Malcolm X draws various reactions from the audience as he restates his theme of complete separation of whites and African Americans. The rally outdrew a Mississippi-Alabama Southern Relief Committee civil rights event six blocks away 10 to 1.
At Tuesday’s announcement, Ben Crump cited the settlement when explaining the decision for the family’s lawsuit. “The rhetorical question is this: if the government compensated the two gentlemen that were wrongfully convicted for the assassination of Malcolm X with tens of millions of dollars, then what is to be the compensation for the daughters who suffered the most from the assassination of Malcolm X?” He added: “We intend to have vigorous litigation of this matter, to have discovery to be able to take depositions of the individuals who are still alive, 58 years later, to make sure that some measure of justice can be given to Malcolm X’s daughters. The truth of what happened and who was involved has always been critical.”
Malcolm X was shot 21 times while preparing to speak at the Audubon Ballroom on February 21, 1965. He was set to address a large audience for a gathering of the Organization of Afro-American Unity. He founded the group one year earlier.
