Soulja Boy Says He’d Collab With NBA YoungBoy

Chicago rapper Soulja Boy recently appeared on The Bootleg Kev Podcast, where he discussed his online beef with fellow artist NBA YoungBoy. Bootleg Kev asked the rapper if he’d ever collaborate with YoungBoy, to which he replied saying he would. The artists recently exchanged some heated messages on social media, following NBA YoungBoy and Lil Durk announcing they’d both be releasing music on the date Soulja Boy planned on releasing his album.

Kev asked, “When are you and NBA YoungBoy hanging out? I saw you going in on the internet today.” Soulja Boy responded by calling the conflict “nothing,” adding, “The albums just so happened to fall on the same day, so there’s going to be some competition.” The host went on to ask Soulja Boy if he’d do an album with the rapper. Soulja Boy responded, “Yeah, I’d do a song with him. I ain’t tripping.” He added, “It ain’t nothing like that.”

Soulja Boy Squashes The Beef

After the two rappers announced they’d be releasing projects on the same day as Soulja Boy, he went live on Instagram and went off. “You seen me announce my muthaf***in album and the next day you announced your album,” he said. Adding that since YoungBoy’s on house arrest in Salt Lake City, they can “come to Utah.” He continued to go off on the rapper for the rest of the Instagram Live.

Soulja Boy went on during the podcast to say that his issue revolved around Lil Durk’s decision to release his album on the same day more than NBA YoungBoy’s. Lil Durk has his own problems with YoungBoy, with YoungBoy publicly dissing him along with other musicians on Twitter. He wrote, “@lildurk lol you ever realized you only get a buzz when one of your friends die?” He went on to post an Instagram video celebrating the pushback of the other rapper’s album. He said in the video, “You pushed back, you better not ever try it again.” YoungBoy also dissed Durk in his new track “F*ck The Industry Pt. 2,” along with Drake, J. Cole, and Lil Yachty.

Timbaland Thanks Jay-Z & Drake For Their Help Through His “Darkest Moment”

Addiction can be one of the most destructive and difficult obstacles in one’s life, whether physically or mentally. However, when you have people who really care for you by your side, they can help you conquer any demons you may face. While speaking to Shannon Sharpe on his Club Shay Shay podcast on Monday (May 15), Timbaland recalled how Jay-Z and Drake helped him through a very tough time in his life. Not only that, but the legendary producer remarked quite candidly on how their impact was more meaningful than they could ever know.

“JAY-Z is a prophet,” Timbaland expressed. “God sent him. I ain’t never seen nobody like him. Hov actually raised me, and he don’t even know it. He raised me in the music business. He was so prolific, so wise beyond his age, that I was just amazed at just watching him. That’s why I had a different bond with Jay when it comes to my music. We was rewriting the Bible, in a way.” In addition to Hov, he also took the time to thank the Canadian superstar for his guidance.

Timbaland’s Full Conversation With Shannon Sharpe

“Even Drake told me,” Timbaland continued. “That’s why I’m like, these guys are special to the world. Now, once they give you the information, it’s up to you to use it. I didn’t come out until the darkness, man, and that’s why I say, it’s all love with these guys. They helped me during my darkest moment.” Of course, testimonies like this are incredibly hard to hear, let alone stand by as a person who saw the light of recovery. Still, the 51-year-old is appreciative of the fact that others were able to see what his struggles blinded him to.

Meanwhile, Rick Ross was another rap legend who recently gave Drake and Jay-Z their flowers, albeit for very different and less serious reasons. Moreover, Rozay named them as two of the few rappers who hear a beat with him, write and record something on the spot, and stand by its quality. Whether in the booth or outside, clearly the two rap leaders earn the praise they receive. As for Timbaland, his illustrious career will likely continue to prevail against any and all struggles. Regardless, check back in with HNHH for the latest news and updates on the Virginia beatmaker.

T-Pain Jokes That Drake Makes Simp Music

T-Pain says that Drake has the making of “simping” music covered. While reflecting on his own history of hit songs about longing for women on Nappy Boy Radio, Pain explained that he doesn’t need to return to that era. He referenced “I’m Sprung,” “I’m N Luv (Wit a Stripper),” “and “Bartender” as examples.

“I had zero confidence in any of my music, I was always the simp, remember?” T-Pain began. “I was always the n***a that didn’t have any confidence that anything could happen at all, I was always wishing for a girl.

“‘I’m Sprung’ – that was about me simping to hell. First real simp joint. ‘I’m In Love With A Stripper’ – never said I ever got her. Just said I liked her a bunch. ‘Bartender’ – never took her anywhere. She was just a bartender. Never said we fucked or anything. Just me simping from afar,” he continued. Pain’s guest on the episode, Rob Markman, then chimed in: “I think we need that back in music though.” Pain responded: “Simpin’? Nah, I think Drake got it covered.”

T-Pain posted the clip on his Instagram page after the interview. Fans shared plenty of laughs in the comments section. One noted that the “simp” quality of T-Pain’s early songs is what made them “unique.” They wrote: “Most other dudes always rapped or sang about already having the woman and doing whatever to her and moving on to the next. Pain songs had a sort of, pining comfortability about them. Like, it was cool to actually have crushes and fall for someone you didn’t necessarily have but that admiration gave you either confidence or purpose.”

T-Pain Reflects On Simping

T-Pain’s comments come after the release of his latest project, which sees him cover a number of songs by iconic artists such as Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra, Journey, Black Sabbath, and more. With On Top Of The Covers, T-Pain opted to avoid his signature use of autotune. “Each one of these songs means something to me and helped me fall in love with music at different points in my life,” the musician said in a press release. “I’m releasing this covers album from the view of what I hear when I listen to each song.

Logic Says Joe Budden Is “Hurt, Smart” & “A F***ing Hater”

After a couple of months of silence, Logic finally responded to Joe Budden’s most recent takedown of him. Moreover, the Maryland spitter joined MSNBC‘s Ari Melber this week for an interview, during which they played a word association game. When Melber mentioned the rapper and podcaster, the “Lightsabers” MC called Budden “a hurt man, a very smart man and a f***ing hater” with a laugh. For those unaware, Joe trashed him for his smooth cover of Ice Cube’s classic track, “It Was A Good Day.” With that, he continued a tradition of hating on Logic that he’s been on for years.

“Logic, I beg of you, I’m pleading with you: please join me in retirement,” Joe Budden expressed on his podcast. “Never step near a recording device again! Throw your phone in the ocean! Be allergic to microphones! Promise your fans nothing! Don’t go to the studio ever again! You are the worst, yo! You are really, really bad! And then when we think he can’t get any worse, you have the bright idea of doing an Ice Cube flip.”

Logic Responds To Joe Budden Hating On His Ice Cube Cover

Of course, their “beef” goes way back to 2019, when Joe Budden told Logic that he should’ve retired much earlier when he announced as such. In fact, he even went back and forth with his former Slaughterhouse partner KXNG Crooked over whether he’s hating too much. Regardless, it seems like Logic isn’t really paying it too much attention. Back in 2020, he expressed that he doesn’t really have any ill will towards the Harlem-born MC. “I love Joe Budden,” he shared to Complex during an interview. “Joe Budden is my brother, he’s my older brother. And regardless if he hates me or not, we are part of the same family tree of hip-hop- the same roots of hip-hop. I’ve never met Joe Budden, I’ve never shaken Joe Budden’s hand, we’ve never had a conversation. He does not know me personally.”

“For the last few years, every time I do anything, it’s this guy telling me that I’m shit, that I’m not good enough,” he continued. “And when somebody says that all the time, you’re just like, ‘Damn. Really? What did I do to this guy?’ And then I also realized that Joe Budden was a damaged person- I’m a damaged person. I’ve gone through a lot of s**t. He’s got a lot of anger inside of him, and if I’m his punching bag, so be it. If I can help him in some way, cool. If him s***ting on me makes his day better, by all means. I wish he was nicer, I guess. But I’m not over here losing sleep. I really love this guy, and I wish him the best, and I just want him to be happy.” For more on Logic and Joe Budden, return to HNHH.

LL Cool J Speaks On The Benefits Of Owning His Masters

Music is a weird industry. Just because you create a song doesn’t mean that you actually own it. In fact, you could be the best-selling artist to ever live and yet only see a fraction of the profits your work generates.

That’s where masters come in. The most person who owns the “masters” of a song is technically the legal owner of that song. They are the ones who can choose how it is used. Furthermore, they can also choose how the artist is compensated in terms of residuals. Famously, Taylor Swift re-recorded an entire album to claim ownership of it after she was unable to buy her own masters. Throughout history, artists have long battled to control their own music. Furthermore, there are countless examples of this being exploited by the owners of an artist’s masters.

LL Cool J Testifies On Owning His Own Masters

“Yeah, I own my masters,” Cool J told the Million Dollarz Worth of Game podcast, “I got my catalog back just before 2000. And, you know, it just worked out well. So now, if you hear an LL COOL J song in a movie, or if you hear my song in a commercial, I’ve licensed that song.” LL Cool J’s work can be heard just about everywhere in popular culture. However, it’s not just about the money for Cool J, it’s about the principle of making music.

“But that’s a blessing, you know? There but for the grace of God, you know what I’m saying? It just worked out. I got a lot of bites at the apple. And I was born to do what I’m doing. I’m not a dude that’s just doing Hip Hop because I’m doing it. You know? I was born to do it,” Cool J said. While the money is likely very nice from a catalog as prolific as Cool J’s, his words resonate as to why he owns his own work. It’s blood, sweat, and tears on those tracks. While he isn’t in the game to make money, if there is money to be made, he deserves to be the one to make it.
