Rick Ross & Trina Look Almost Unrecognizable In Resurfaced 2002 Photo

It’s been a couple of years since Rick Ross and Trina sparked dating rumors following their many collabs together, but their history goes back much further than many fans might assume. Moreover, a photo recently surfaced of both rappers together all the way back in 2002, and they look downright unrecognizable from their present-day iterations (which we say in the most neutral way possible). We wonder whether the two are still tight and working on music together or if things are more casual these days. Also, we can’t help but laugh at the idea that Rozay and Katrina will have to think about whether to bring back the huge gold neck pieces or Celtics gear (which makes sense for the current NBA Finals run).

Jokes aside, we know that they most recently went on a massive tour with Gucci Mane and Jeezy announced back in 2021. The trek also tapped Boosie Badazz, 2 Chainz, Lil Kim, Fabolous, and DJ Drama, and it was a pretty star-studded and hectic affair. While this 2002 snapshot definitely surprised fans, it’s interesting to think about whether this reaction and resurfacing will inspire them to collaborate or link up again. Sometimes you find excuses for reunions in the most unlikely of places, which is hip-hop Twitter in this case.

Elsewhere, Trina recently spoke about feeling like she should come up more often in top five femcee conversations due to her legacy. “I feel like I know what I’ve done and I feel like even your top 5 has been at some point influenced by me,” she expressed during a recent interview with Carlos King. “I know, or probably even worked with or loved – even idolized. It’s probably somebody I really support and love in the industry.”

Meanwhile, Rick Ross is not as concerned with the same recognition that Trina is, but rather wants to expand his empire. For example, he recently announced a huge “Luxury & Lifestyle” auction for charity that will probably also hold a lot of flexing and lavish happenings. Maybe these two will cross paths again, or they’ll just laugh at how things were back in 2002. As of late, an old photo of the rapper has been making its rounds online, proving just how much he’s really changed over the years. In the photo, he sits in a car tattoo-free, wearing far less jewelry than he usually sports nowadays.

Of course, social media users are coming through with plenty of jokes about the pre-glow-up shot, sounding off in Worldstar‘s comments section. “Boy look like he can tap into any database,” one commenter writes. Another thinks Moneybagg “def reminded the teacher about homework.” Someone else simply notes how “we all have a past.”

While some social media users are taken aback by the photo, others argue that he doesn’t look too much different, aside from his hair, flashy jewelry, and tattoos. Recently, the Memphis-born performer announced that he has a new album on the way. It’s titled Speak Now and is set to arrive very soon, on May 24.

Moreover, fans apparently unearthed an old Google Maps image of his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana that supposedly shows him as a 13-year-old. It’s unclear exactly how fans came to this conclusion, although a likely theory is that they did the math and found that this photo’s date lined up with when the rapper was 13 years old. This hasn’t been confirmed, though. Alas, it wouldn’t be the first time something like this happened in recent memory, as fans also questioned a family Easter pic.

Furthermore, it just goes to show that YoungBoy’s hold on his fanbase is quite powerful, and that they will always bring him to the forefront of rap conversations based on even the slightest speculation. What’s more is that he’s got a lot to promote these days, such as his recent album. For example, the I Rest My Case spitter recently unveiled “Gravedigger Mountain” billboards in Utah, pointing to another prompt release of new material on the way, plus promotion of what he already dropped this year. In fact, we already have confirmation from him that there’s another full-length arriving very soon.

YoungBoy’s next album, I Just Got A Lot On My Shoulders, will come out at some point this year. As such, this would continue this prolific streak of project releases that absolutely flooded the 2010s and 2020s so far. According to Wallo, however, there’s no possibility that the man in the photo is him. He promptly chimed in with a rock-solid alibi. “Hold up cuz I was in prison ain’t the time, don’t even try it!” he responded. “Shaggy ‘it wasn’t me.’”

Gillie and Wallo aren’t the only ones to joke about Diddy’s parties as of late, however. Recently, Fat Joe weighed in on Young Thug’s RICO case, coming to the YSL Records founder’s defense. Prosecutors are attempting to use Thugger’s song lyrics against him, arguing that they portray the criminally charged lifestyle they accuse him of taking part in. He chatted with CNN‘s Gayle King about the matter, claiming that very few of his own lyrics actually reflect the truth.

“I’ve been rapping professionally for 30 years,” he described. “I’ve lied in almost 95 percent of my songs. I’m being honest. I write like I feel that day. I’m just being creative. You couldn’t build a jail high enough for the lyrics I’ve said on songs, which are all untrue. What I am is a family man, the person who gives back to my community all the time, opens businesses in my community.”

According to The Game, he went on to date Kim for a short time in 2007 prior to her relationship with Reggie Bush, and he was “damn near in love.” Allegedly, the two of them broke things off after he spotted Bush in her condo building. “We start dating a little bit, but I would always hook my Xbox up,” he told U.S. Weekly. “She had that good internet.”
