Jon B Absolutely Hates The Gunna And Chloe Song That Samples Him

Jon B is not an S-tier R&B singer, but he’s got classic songs. So many classics, in fact, that he’s become a popular source for samples. A little Jon B goes a long way in giving a song a retro, 90s feel. Gunna and Chloe Bailey were going for this precise feel on their 2022 collab, “You & Me.” Unfortunately, they didn’t clear the sample of Jon B’s “They Don’t Know” that plays throughout the song. Jon B was not pleased when he found out, and he let it be known how much he hated the new song during a recent interview with Can We Talk RNB.

The R&B singer went on the podcast shortly after the Gunna and Chloe Bailey single dropped. He did not mince words when asked what he thought of the sample. Jon B said he “couldn’t stand” what the artists had done to his original composition. He dubbed their version of “They Don’t Know” as “ratchet,” and he lamented that “You & Me” ever saw the light of day. “My lane is my lane… I earned that,” Jon B explained. “Just like, if you made a hit, in your area… I’m not just gonna come into your area and take your joint and make it mine. And then not pay you.” Damn, tell us how you really feel, Jon.

Jon B Urged Gunna To Reach Out To Him

The criticisms didn’t stop there. The singer accused Gunna of failing to clear the sample, which could result in legal action. “They never got my rights to do the record,” he asserted.” Jon B is obviously not a fan of the Gunna and Chloe Bailey collab. That said, he understands that music is subjective. He told Can We Talk RNB he was more bothered by the lack professionalism with regards to clearances. “Gunna we got to holler about that,” he stated. “That’s some business sh*t we got to handle.”

Jon also had some strong words for his blue-eyed successor, Justin Timberlake. During the podcast appearance, the singer laid into Timberlake’s latest single, “No Angels.” He was somehow even more brutal with JT than Gunna or Chloe Bailey. “That new single is trash,” he plainly stated. “I’m not feeling his music at all anymore. And the video is even more trash.” One of the few people Jon B has has nice words for, ironically, is everybody’s enemy in 2024: Drake. The 6 God sampled Jon B on his 2011 opus Take Care, and the latter gave love in return. “One of the most humble ppl I’ve met in the industry,” he wrote on Facebook in 2012. “It’s nice to know the respect is mutual. Big up Drake.”

Travis Scott Plays New Drake Song During DJ Set Despite Beef Rumors

Travis Scott occupied an odd space in the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle. The Houston rapper didn’t come out and diss Drake outright. He didn’t side with him, either. In fact, rumors spread that the two had problems of their own behind the scenes. Drake infamously brought an inflatable Travis Scott head out during a concert performance, and then pretended to shoot it down. All this while rapping his song with Scott, “Meltdown.” Things might be less dramatic than we all thought, though. Scott put on a DJ set on August 5, and proceeded to play Drake’s new single.

It’s worth noting that Gordo attended the DJ set in question. Gordo produced the song that Travis Scott played, “Sideways,” and he made a point of partying alongside Scott during the set. The clip that Gordo uploaded to his IG Story shows both him and Scott dancing to Drake’s vocals. There are lots of different ways to interpret the clip. Travis Scott may have been encouraged to play “Sideways” since Gordo was in attendance. He might have simply played the song on the inkling that it would play well during the set. Or maybe he was genuinely extending an olive branch to Drake after a combative first half of the year.

Travis Scott And Drake Have Been In A Cold War

The latter is a little hard to believe. Travis Scott may not have dissed Drizzy, but he definitely seemed content to give the rappers who were dissing him a platform. Future and Metro Boomin performed a set at Rolling Loud in March, and they brought Scott onstage as a guest. The Houston rapper did his thing, but he insisted that the duo perform their Drake diss, “Like That,” before he gets off stage. “Please, bro,” he told Metro Boomin. “I’m sorry, Metro’s trying to get out of here. Nah, Metro, you’re gon’ let that sh*t go right now, bro.”

In May, during the height of the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle, DJ Akademiks claimed that the latter has a secret op. “I found out Drake has an opp that none of us know,” he explained. “A huge rapper that we all think is his friend! I found that out like two days ago.” The consensus among fans was that it was Travis Scott. Still, Drake and Scott have not publicly bad-mouthed each other, or preserved their issues on wax. Maybe the Gordo clip is a step in the right direction for the “Sicko Mode” boys.

The Weeknd Previews New Music With Cryptic Album Teaser: Watch

The Weeknd loves intrigue. He built his persona on being mysterious back in 2011. He’s continued to play with his image in shows like The Idol, and his various musical personas. The singer’s newest album looks to provide fans with more of the same. The Weeknd dropped a three-minute video on August 5, which is packed with nightmarish visuals and cryptic messages. We already know the Canadian superstar has a new album on the way, but the trailer fleshes out the upcoming concept, while at the same time giving the world a taste of new music.

Right away, the teaser feels unsettling. A little boy stands in front of a house while a storm forms above him. The boy eventually makes his way into the house. Once inside, though, things don’t get any less tense. The Weeknd’s presumed younger self can be seen walking through the house, which appears to be abandoned. Clothes are strewn about on the floor, and an ominous mood lingers, as though whoever lived there experienced something tragic. A surreal transition takes the boy to a church, where he looks into a mirror. A hooded woman who appeared earlier in the video cradles him, in a surprising instance of solace. All the while, an unreleased song by The Weeknd provides the soundtrack.

The Weeknd Will Conclude His After Hours Trilogy

The Weeknd posted the video on Instagram and Twitter with the caption: “unprepared certainty.” There’s definitely a dark connotation to the phrase, however it will apply to the album. The teaser makes it seem as though the singer is going to dig into his psyche more than ever, which tracks given the narrative role it’s supposed to play within his so-called trilogy. The upcoming album is said to be the third chapter in a trilogy that started with After Hours and continued with Dawn FM. Abel Tesfaye alluded to this structure way back in 2022. “I wonder,” he wrote on Twitter. “Did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?”

The Weeknd expanded on the concept of the trilogy during a 2023 interview with W Magazine. He not only said that he would be completing the story of his last three albums, but the “Weeknd” persona as fans know it. “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd,” he revealed. “This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.” We can only hope Tesfaye continues to make music under a different name. That said, we’re excited for the grand finale.

Sketch Dismisses Fans Who Claim He Sold His Soul To Religion: Watch

Sketch has had quite the few months. The Twitch streamer was forced to admit to his past as a gay OnlyFans model after explicit videos of him leaked online. He was honest with fans, and was praised by others in the streaming community for his bravery. That being said, Sketch has received pushback from fans. Some were shocked by his past, while others have criticized his sharp turn into religion in the past year. The Twitch superstar decided to address these criticisms during a recent live stream.

Sketch made it clear that he doesn’t owe anything to his fans. He also addresses the “sold your soul” claims right out the gate. It’s obvious he’s been reading what negative people have had to say. “I didn’t sell nothing,” the streamer asserted. “You can all talk like that, but I know exactly who my Lord and Savior is. Shout out Jesus Christ.” Sketch then broadened the conversation, and alluded to the recent OnlyFans controversy. “I don’t have to explain what’s already understood,” he asserted. “Some people will talk crazy. Some people will say what they wanna say. I really don’t need to address when all things are settled between me and Him.” The Him, of course, being the aforementioned Jesus Christ.

Sketch Assures Fans That He’s In A Positive Place

This is not the first time Sketch has talked religion on a public platform. He went on the Past Weekend with Theo Von podcast in May, and vouched for the power of prayer. “There was a time last year, I had a prayer where I said, ‘I want to be happy. I want to travel, and I want to meet people,’” Sketch revealed. “And God answered me like crazy. There’s power in prayer. You have to put your eyes on the Lord.” The streamer admitted that the experience was humbling, and has helped him stay grounded despite his immense success.

Sketch also spoke of his faith when he publicly acknowledged his OnlyFans past. He claimed that he was making OnlyFans content during a dark time in his life. He also admitted harboring fear over said content being discovered. The streamer credited his belief in God for helping him get through the fallout from the OnlyFans leaks. “I’ve been living under the threat of that coming out,” he explained via stream. “I’ll tell you what, weight lifted off my shoulders.
