Tyler, The Creator Wants To Apologize To Eminem For His Initial Harsh Criticism Of “Recovery”

Tyler, The Creator and Eminem have a bit of a complicated relationship with one another. Growing up, the former was a huge fan of the latter. In fact, he cites him as one of his influences for getting into hip-hop. During this new interview with Maverick Carter via his show, Mavericks with Mav Carter on YouTube, Tyler talks about how the Detroit legend taught him the basics. “I love Eminem. That dude taught me how to rap. I learned how to put words together in rhythm because of some of the Eminem stuff I was hearing and storytelling and things like that”. While this adoration still remains true, as we learn later in this chat, the last several years would have you thinking otherwise.

One of Em’s biggest supporters has been uber critical over the last several years of his records, especially toward the end of the 2010s. The Death of Slim Shady MC also respected Tyler when he started getting to the industry, so when he heard these digs, Em felt bothered and hurt. It led him to eventually diss the multi-hyphenate on “Fall” which is on his Kamikaze record. Since that time, it seems these two have been pretty silent on each other up until today. After essentially just growing up and being more understanding, Tyler feels really awful and guilty for what he’s said. He specifically cites his initial harsh dismissal of Recovery, one of Em’s most personal records to date.

Tyler, The Creator & Eminem Have Not Always Been On The Best Terms

Tyler credits the Netlfix series Painkillers for helping him realize how unfair he was being to someone who was battling a lot to put out a project like that. “When [Recovery] came out I f——g hated it. Publicly was like, ‘This s*** is wack.’ Didn’t like it and after watching [Painkillers] I felt so bad about those tweets and things like that because thinking from his perspective someone like me publicly saying that stuff and him off drugs and being clean and getting to a point in life where that’s behind him and me implying, ‘Nah, this s–t is wack’”. Later, he adds, “He probably felt like I was attacking him. I thought I was just like, ‘I don’t like the music.’ He was in a different part of his life and probably felt like I was attacking him. Now I feel so bad about saying that stuff because my perspective was so limited”.

Towards the end of the discussion, Tyler hopes that him and Em can meet so he can personally apologize. “I felt terrible. If I ever see him, I want to tell him that in-person”. EST Gee’s Artist, EST Lu Mike, Dies After Louisville Shooting

EST Gee is dealing with yet another difficult loss, as recently, it was revealed that one of his artists passed away in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Police were called to the 900 block of Baxter Avenue early Sunday (August 11), over reports of gunfire. Reportedly, they discovered three victims suffering from gunshot wounds, one of which had already died. The other two victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Sadly, another one of them passed away shortly after. The final victim is still recovering from their injuries and is expected to survive.

One of the men who passed away was identified as EST Lu Mike, a close friend of the rapper’s. At the time of writing, the circumstances that led up to the shooting remain unclear. Police have also yet to identify a suspect. News of the tragedy arrives just after another member of EST Gee’s circle, his manager EST Beach, died last month.

EST Lu Mike Dies Of Gunshot Wounds In Louisville

According to WDRB, EST Beach was found deceased in a vehicle in downtown Louisville in late July. He was only 31 years old when he was fatally shot. Beach had been in town for EST Gee’s homecoming show, EST Gee + Friends Summer Jam, which took place on July 20 and featured artists like Future, Lil Baby, 42 Dugg, and more. EST Gee has yet to address EST Lu Mike’s passing.

News of Lu Mike’s passing also comes shortly after he previewed an upcoming track on Instagram. “Every time these n***as slip then we gon’ do ’em dirty / I’m into purgin’, ain’t nothing little about this 30,” he rapped. Scrappy went on, tagging Bambi and thanking her for acknowledging his efforts and calling her an “amazing mom.” The heartfelt exchange comes shortly after the duo sparked reunion rumors, which they later shut down, and faced criticism from Scrappy’s mother Momma Dee. She put him in particular on blast this month for being civil with his ex, insulting his intelligence and calling her a “witch.”

“Because he forget real quick,” she said. “Better stop. Yes, he had. She trying to talk to you over here, yes she is. Yes, she is. No, no, no, this one more stupider than the average young man. Metro Boomin, Zaytoven, Quavo, Quality Control’s CEO, and more were all giving this announcement a stamp of approval. The tracklist sits at 12 songs and includes the singles “Chanel Bag” with JT, and his Diddy diss track, “TakeDat”. Interestingly, this looks to be a two-part release. On Apple Music it shows a separate cover and a much later release date. A 24-track version is apparently coming on October 17, and it looks to include this first set dropping on Friday. Greatest Of All Trappers will follow up on Gucci’s collab effort with B.G. and his 16th studio album, Breath of Fresh Air, both of which were released last year.

The battle, which ended between the rappers in May, still rages on today through their respective fanbases. The climactic track, “Not Like Us,” turned into a victory lap for Lamar, who created one of the most popular songs of 2024.

Polo G did not want to pick sides or a winner. Akademiks changed his line of questioning, instead asking for his favorite song from the battle. Polo settled on “Not Like Us,” becoming the latest rapper to praise the track in the last few months. Akademiks, who has often been critical of Kendrick Lamar, could not deny the track’s success. He called it a “bop,” which is more praise than he usually reserves for Lamar’s music.

Polo G Praises “Not Like Us”

“Not Like Us” has been a massive success for Kendrick Lamar. It was his first #1 single since “HUMBLE.” from his 2017 album, DAMN. The track recently passed 650 million Spotify streams, becoming the most-streamed diss track on the platform. Earlier this month, it received the first of what will probably be many award nominations, getting a nod at the VMAs for Song of the Year. It’s become such a big track that Michael Rubin had to ban it from his Fourth of July party because Drake attended the festivities.

Polo G recently released Hood Poet, his fourth studio album, on August 9. The album features collaborations with Future, GloRilla, Offset, and others. It’s received tepid critic reviews, though fans of his are enjoying the new music. Over the last few weeks, he’s done some press for it. He was on The Breakfast Club earlier this month, and now he’s on Akademiks’ show for the same purpose. Akademiks will not be the only person to ask Polo about his thoughts on the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle, as it’s the hottest story in hip-hop this year. YG Denies Implying Saweetie Cheated On Him After Heated Argument

Earlier this week, TMZ reported that an altercation between YG and Saweetie at their LA home got out of hand, prompting police to step in. Reportedly, someone nearby called authorities over shouting that could be heard from the household. Luckily, the quarrel never turned physical, and officers quickly broke them up. Regardless, the incident left fans with several questions.

Of course, many were eager to know what exactly got the two of them so upset. At the time, it was said that the argument had something to do with their cell phones. Yesterday, however, a post on YG’s Instagram Story got fans thinking. The post in question featured just two simple emojis, a lion and a cheetah. This prompted speculation that the rapper was trying to say Saweetie lied and cheated on him.

YG Claims He Was At The Zoo

According to YG, however, this couldn’t be further from the truth. Unsurprisingly, fans aren’t convinced, and the rumors continue. For now, it remains to be seen whether or not YG or Saweetie will address the debacle head-on, as it doesn’t look like they’re ready to do so yet.

After all, YG is currently preparing to unleash his new mixtape Just Re’d Up 3, which drops later this week.
