A post from Kendrick Lamar‘s fiance, Whitney Alford, discussing her mental health and going to therapy is resurfacing on social media amid the rapper’s ongoing feud with Drake. On Friday, the Toronto rapper brought up Alford on his diss track, “Family Matters,” while accusing Lamar of abuse. Lamar immediately fired back with his own song, “Meet the Grahams,” on which he alleges Drake has been hiding another child.

As for Alford’s post from May 2022, she wrote: “I was stuck in a time and place that was no longer my reality and was no longer serving me. My babies forced me to take a long look at myself and journey back through the very things that made me. I’ve always carried the light with me. As a child no one was able to help me process. Many times silence was enforced because my emotions were a lot to handle. Hiding my pain has been a technique I’ve mastered my entire life. Mask it with a smile and everything is good. Silence has been my superpower, protecting me in the most vulnerable spaces.” From there, Alford revealed: “Then I was referred to a great therapist.”

Now, it appears as though McKnight continues to face the consequences of his remarks. He was scheduled to perform at the MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit at the beginning of June, but the event has since been canceled. This is due to social media users trolling even organizers online, making it clear that they weren’t interested in supporting him any longer.

Wendy Williams’ “Dire And Scary” Circumstances Worried Documentary Producers, They Admit

Lifetime’s controversial docuseries Where Is Wendy Williams? continues to make waves months after its first episode premiered. Even before it aired, fans raised concern over the beloved former talk show host’s condition, and whether or not it was ethical to put her most vulnerable moments on display. These concerns were only compounded when it was revealed that Williams was diagnosed with dementia and aphasia.

According to executive producer Mark Ford, however, the point was to expose the “dire” conditions she was living in. During a recent panel, Ford opened up about filming, claiming that he and other producers grew increasingly worried. “The deeper we got into it, we didn’t want to let go of Wendy until we got her back in touch with her family,” he explained, according to PEOPLE. “Because we felt that at a certain point that’s who’s going to be there for her to care for her.”

“You could see Erica and Michael towards the end of the documentary, very, very worried and saying to her management, who was the only other person that was coming into her apartment on a daily basis, ‘Something has to be done to help her.’ This is getting very dire and scary,” Ford continued. “And because she was under a guardianship, her family couldn’t just fly up and hang out and decide to get involved in her medical care. They were removed from that process by the courts. So they could face legal ramifications if they tried to get too involved.”

“I just think, in the end, you really see what happens when a guardian has complete control and the family is cut out and they don’t know how she’s being treated medically. And they don’t know what’s happened with her finances,” co-executive producer Erika Hanson also added. Kendrick Lamar & Drake’s Feud Takes Over Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Well… pretty chill week for hip-hop, right? We know that there’s a massive cloud over the genre right now, but don’t forget about all of the other excellent music drops that released in the past seven days, which we’ve rounded up on our new Fire Emoji playlist update. On it, you’ll find Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss, “euphoria,” but at this point, you’d be missing most of the story. “6:16 In LA,” “Family Matters,” a “Buried Alive” parody mocking K.Dot, and “Meet The Grahams” released since, and potentially false claims and savagery aside, they are downright ugly. A sad ending (or is it?) to what many fans hoped would be an art-centric battle.

Regardless, there’s plenty of great music to champion instead on Fire Emoji, such as the new Yeat and Don Toliver collab, “Heavy stunts.” In contrast to another single from the 2093 creative that dropped alongside it, “King tonka,” this one melds their psychedelic and woozy styles in a simple, minimal, but nevertheless engaging cut. There was another hazy track this week, albeit a much cleaner and more crips offering, from Gunna titled “Whatsapp (Wassam),” building up to his soon-to-come album. As almost always, Wunna’s flows are pretty slick here, and the beat here cushions his delivery with ease.

HNHH Fire Emoji Playlist: Stream

Moving onto more aggressive fare on Fire Emoji, we also wanted to highlight the new Moneybagg Yo single, “TRYNA MAKE SURE.” It’s a pretty clear-cut example of Memphis griminess, with sharp snares and occasional bell gongs keeping his flows in check. It’s just one thing about them. They asked [for] too many posts. Like, they want to oversaturate my page for…” “The money ain’t matching with the requests?” the interviewer asked.

“I could’ve got 150 or 200,000 out of them, I got 125,” Chrisean Rock answered. “Okay, that’s cool. For, like… what, two posts? Three posts? ‘Cause I post on my page 24 hours, 30,000 a pop, 25,000 a pop. Like, every time you see me do the little brand deals, or it’s me and Blue doing a recording, that s**t was, like, 25, 30,000.
