Columbus Short Bizarrely Talks About Saving R. Kelly’s Victims

Columbus Short recently confused his viewers when speaking about R. Kelly. In what began as a story about how Short and Jackie Long were working on their album at R. Kelly’s personal studio. However, instead of being a story about Short spotting a red flag in Kelly, Short went on a bizarre tangent. “If I had known there were 13 b-tches locked in that house. If I had known, I would be grabbing the keys and freeing all them. I would be like a superhero, saving all those b-tches,” Short said.

However, fans were exactly receptive to this tangent. “Y’all. The word is WOMEN. Take that word into 2024,” said one person. “Why refer to the victims with derogatory names?! 🤡,” added another. “We betta than that @officialcshort I believe the terms are “young women/ladies/girls” like all the women in your family . That was a conscious choice cuz Lord knows if you were recounting this story to your mama,” a third lectured.

Columbus Short Calls Out Diddy

However, R. Kelly is not the only person who has been the subject of Short’s ire lately. Short also recently called out Diddy. According to the actor and choreographer, Diddy called him at “2, 2:30 in the morning” to express sadness at Short not being at the BET Awards. However, Diddy continued to take things further, telling Short that he was staying at a nearby Hilton Hotel. However, when Short who else was over there, Diddy informed him he was alone.

Rumors that Diddy is closeted have long persisted throughout the music industry. “Diddy admitted to exposing Usher to older women, a hyper-sexual lifestyle, and trying to get him to lose his virginity when Usher was around 14/15,” one person wrote on social media back in July. “Lest I digress, I believe Usher’s relations with women and his life might have been different had it not been for Mr. Love,” another added in the same conversation.

Boosie Badazz has been going on a bit of a tear in the run-up to Christmas. While attending a Hawks game, Boosie started roasting a fellow fan who was taking part in a timeout activity. The man was dressed short shorts, which Boosie found very amusing. “He got Larry Bird shorts! John Stockton shorts! Look at this boy! We got f-cking Larry Bird out here!” Boosie yelled at the man from his perch courtside. However, the man either chose to ignore the rapper or simply didn’t hear him.

Later, Boosie was out on the town, giving out $100 bills to “junkies” at the corner store. However, Boosie got into it with one man, who he felt was trying to “play” him. Boosie claimed that the man was wearing a “f-cking chain” that Boosie felt was too expensive for the man to really be in need of his money.

Boosie Badazz Blasts NBA Refs

State Farm Arena has been a frequent site of Boosie’s outbursts in recent weeks. Back in November, Boosie vented his frustration about the high number of technical fouls being called in the NBA this season. “THE NBA NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE TECHINACAL FOULS FOR DUNKING N STARING AFTER THE DUNK SMH YALL TAKING AWAY FROM THE GAME N THE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE ATHLETES. ITS OUT OF CONTROL AT THIS POINT. PLAYERS N FANS DESERVE BETTER,” the rapper tweeted.

The post came just a few days after Boosie became heated at the refs during a Hawks game he was in attendance for. Boosie filmed himself yelling at the refs from the stands and later went live to further vent his frustrations. “I gotta make this announcement. We got cheated by the referees tonight. I’m so disappointed by the refs tonight. Only person that called a good game was the tall guy with the bald head … Referees called a bad game.” Boosie lamented. The game in question was a 117-109 Atlanta loss to Miami.

Kanye West just posted on his Instagram Story for the first time in a while, following a couple of months of deactivation. Moreover, he reposted a picture from Russian fashion designer Gosha Rubchinskiy of someone wearing a T-shirt of his “upcoming” Ty Dolla $ign collab album Vultures. For those unaware, Ye found himself in even more controversy by appointing Rubchinskiy Yeezy’s head of design, given accusations that he pressured underage males into sending him explicit pictures. Regardless, this marks his return to the social media platform, and we’ll see in the coming weeks whether he’s actually going to use it a lot.

Furthermore, this contributes to the unsurprisingly wild, turbulent, often bigoted, and always combative rollout for this new project. Between listening events, rants, canceled performances, uncleared samples and features, plus delayed release dates, it’s all been quite chaotic. But some folks see through the spectacle and identify it for what it is: a spectacle. For example, Cam’ron recently gave his take on this new cycle, saying that it’s all just a “performance” to garner attention.

Meanwhile, other rappers are taking the opposite approach: looking at Kanye West purely for the music, impact, and history together, and not for anything else. For example, ScHoolboy Q recently performed at TDE’s tenth annual holiday show, and had some defensive words for his “THat Part” collaborator. “I don’t know about y’all, but I ain’t canceled Kanye,” he told the crowd. “That’s the homie. I don’t give a f**k. I’m f***ing with Ye.” Whether or not you agree with these sentiments, they also shouldn’t fall into black-and-white interpretations of condoning certain narratives. After all, the Chicago rapper’s sadly gotten away with a lot; why are we disappointed that little has changed?

Nevertheless, Vultures is now scheduled for a 2024 release, and the 46-year-old might be on the ‘Gram a whole lot more now. We still think it’s unlikely, but if it’s to shout out his new design partner and feed into the backlash, then we think he won’t pass up on that chance. Up-and-coming Los Angels rapper X4 recently took to his Instagram Story– or perhaps someone from his team did– to suggest that he’s currently in prison. Moreover, on a black background, his account simply posted “FREE X4,” and no other details about this alleged arrest emerged as of writing this article. For those unaware, the West Coast MC is among many other lyricists bubbling in the underground right now, one who’s poised to become a big name. For example, he recently released his debut mixtape The Most Important, on which he displayed some creative flows, charisma, and potential to hone his craft.

Furthermore, this arrest is especially disheartening amid the holiday season, as this is a time for family that unfortunately can’t stop harsher realities. Sadly, X4 is not alone in this struggle, as many other rappers and artists either faced arrests from authorities or are in the middle of legal trouble. One other recent instance of this is that of HoneyKomb Brazy, whom officials arrested just a few days ago on Wednesday (December 20). This reportedly relates to various gun and drug charges, and we’re still waiting to see whether this will halt this career or whether it can be sidestepped with accountability.

X4 Reportedly Arrested

Fortunately, we have other cases apart from X4 in rap’s legal space that took on more positive connotations, at least when only looking at an artist’s freedom and not the validity of their crimes. Quando Rondo was able to secure bond for $100K, and will reportedly now be on house arrest for the holidays. As such, we expect that he’ll be able to spend time with his loved ones at least a little bit and use this time to cool off and reflect. Hopefully the up-and-comer is able to achieve similar conditions, and then fully hold himself up to his accused behavior.

Meanwhile, other hip-hop figures seek to change the legal conditions that currently constrict them. There is perhaps no better contemporary example of this than NBA YoungBoy’s house arrest, which is still subject to modifications.
