Madison Garden Miracle: Tyrese Maxey Keeps 76ers Alive with Logo Three-Pointer

Tyrese Maxey Keeps 76ers Alive with Logo Three-Pointer

Tyrese Maxey’s star continued to rise on Tuesday night in New York City as he delivered a Playoff career-high performance. He scored 46 points to propel the Philadelphia 76ers to a thrilling 112-106 overtime victory over the Knicks, forcing a crucial Game 6 back in Philadelphia.

Maxey’s heroics in the final moments of regulation sparked an unforgettable comeback, etching his name in Sixers lore. His seven-point flurry in the last 25 seconds marked a historic achievement, with the Sixers becoming the first team in the play-by-play era to win a Playoff game when trailing by 6+ points in the final moments.

The young guard’s clutch shooting, including a game-tying 35-footer from the logo, showcased his fearless mentality and ability to rise to the occasion. Maxey’s performance overshadowed a stellar showing from Knicks’ guard Brunson, as he outdueled him in a clash of first-time All-Stars.

Alongside Maxey’s brilliance, Joel Embiid’s historic triple-double performance further solidified the Sixers’ dominance. Embiid’s remarkable stat line of 19 points, 16 rebounds, ten assists, and four blocks highlighted his invaluable contributions to the team’s success.

The Sixers’ epic rally mirrored the stunning finish of Game 2, illustrating the resilience and determination of both teams in the series. With Game 6 looming, the Sixers have breathed new life into their Playoff campaign, determined to seize victory on their home court and continue their pursuit of Playoff glory.

Kendrick Lamar’s Drake Diss ‘Euphoria’ Is The New Best Way To Tell Someone You Hate Them, According To New York’s Post About Joel Embiid

With the New York Knicks looking to close out the first round of the NBA playoffs against the Philadelphia 76ers tonight, Sixers all-star Joel Embiid has been declared the “Most Hated Man in NY,” as declared by no less an authority than The New York Post’s front page. This hatred was confirmed by New York’s State Twitter page (I will NEVER call it “X”), which not only reposted the cover from a Knickerbockers fan page, but added some spice of its own courtesy of Kendrick Lamar’s new Drake diss, “Euphoria.”

The new song has no shortage of salt for the Compton rapper’s Canadian foe, but at one point, he dispenses with the fancy wordplay and heady metaphors to distill his argument down to its bare bones: “Now let me say I’m the biggest hater / I hate the way that you walk, the way that you talk / I hate the way that you dress / I hate the way that you sneak diss, if I catch flight, it’s gon’ be direct,” he snarls in the snippet posted by @NYGov. If the Sixers win, Embiid might need the National Guard to provide security (maybe they can take a break from beating up 20-year-olds at Columbia for exercising their First Amendment rights). Which just goes to show how serious it is — do you know how bad it has to be for the GOVERNMENT of the state of New York to quote a Los Angeles-bred rapper’s diss track?

Sports rivalries aside, it looks like Kendrick Lamar has given the world the best new way to tell somebody you dislike them: just send them a “Euphoria” snippet, and they’ll get the message, guaranteed.

Stephen A. Smith Gives Awful Announcing A Piece Of His Mind After Being Called Out For Embarrassing Knicks Mistake

Stephen A. Smith is easily one of the most famous men in the world when it comes to sports commentary. However, he oftentimes makes some mistakes while on the air. Overall, there are some people out there who believe he doesn’t even watch the NBA anymore. After all, First Take relies heavily on legacy debates, which don’t take contemporary NBA knowledge. When it comes to the role players around the league, it is safe to say that Smith might not have all of the answers.

For instance, during a recent segment on his show, he said that Quentin Grimes was a great role player for the New York Knicks. As it stands, Grimes is no longer on the team. This led to call-outs from numerous people online, including the publication Awful Announcing. Smith saw this and subsequently gave them all a piece of his mind. Clearly, he wasn’t too happy with how he was being talked about. Regardless, he did own up to his mistake and noted that sometimes, these things just happen.

Knicks News: New York Misses Out On Grant Williams

It’s been a fairly quiet offseason for the New York Knicks so far. At the time of writing, all the team has done is sign Donte DiVincenzo (4 years, $50 million) and trade Obi Toppin to the Pacers for a pair of second-round picks. It’s left a lot of fans wondering what exactly the plan is for the team, especially as they try to stay relevant in the Eastern Conference.

Of course, there’s been a lot of speculation about what the Knicks could be up to. Until recently, rumors had persisted about the team making a play for Paul George. However, those have been shut down after sources made it clear that George is looking to commit to the Clippers long-term. Furthermore, the Knicks have been linked to the Raptors’ OG Anunoby. Despite this interest, it is believed that Toronto’s asking price is currently too high for the Knicks to give the move serious consideration. Another player the Knicks were reportedly eyeing was Boston’s Grant Williams. Williams, the 22nd pick in the 2019 draft, has been a role player for the Celtics. He appeared in a career-high 79 games and averaged a career-high 8.1 points last season. However, a move to New York simply wasn’t to be.

Celtics Trade Williams To Dallas

Per ESPN, Boston executed a three-team sign-and-trade that sent Williams to the Dallas Mavericks. Williams was a restricted free agent, meaning that he could speak with other teams. However, Boston would have the right of first refusal to match any contract offers. Instead, the Celtics opted to sign Williams to a four-year, $53 million contract before shipping him to Dallas. The Celtics received two second-round picks from Dallas as compensation. Furthermore, the Mavs received two second-round picks from the Spurs. The Spurs received veteran Reggie Bullock and the right to swap 2023 picks with Dallas.

While not the biggest trade we’ve seen this offseason, it is certainly impactful for the Knicks. It’s yet another rumor that hasn’t come to fruition. Once again, New York is left out in the cold. Furthermore, their fans grow increasingly anxious about their lack of moves so far. The Knicks were a 47-win fifth-seed last season but they appear to be standing still while the league flows around them. Will that cost them next season? Only time will tell. However, for the moment, the Knicks look like they don’t really know what they are doing to become a true contender. New York Knicks Linked With OG Anunoby Trade

The Toronto Raptors are doing something this offseason, but no one’s quite sure what that thing is. They have a new head coach in Darko Rajaković but the team he will lead remains to be seen. So far, Toronto’s only free agency moves have been to re-sign Jakob Poeltl for $80 million and bring in Dennis Schröder on a two-year deal. While the Raptors have a lot of young talent, it’s still unclear if they are going full youth rebuild or not.

The two players that will decide this are Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby. Siakam led the Raptors in points and rebounds last season, while Anunonby led the team in steals. However, rumors have persisted all offseason about whether they will be moving on from the team. While Siakam has gotten a lot of buzz, he has also made it clear that it’s Toronto-or-bust in regards to his career. Despite this, a team could be willing to essentially take him on a rental for one year. Meanwhile, Anunoby’s name is now starting to pop up more and more in trade talks.

Toronto Cagey Despite Interest In Anunoby

Per Michael Grange of Sportsnet, the New York Knicks have Anunoby high on their watch list. Anunoby had some of the best defensive metrics in the league last year. Acquiring him is something that would really solidify the Knicks as a contender. However, the problem appears to lie with Toronto. The Raptors are reportedly asking for a minimum of three first-round picks in exchange for Anunoby. Anunoby is under contract for two more seasons, with a player option for the 2024-25 season. At the very least, the multiple first-round pick figure was what the Raptors gave back in January when the Hawks tried to explore a trade. However, that was January, when the Raptors were doing much better than their .500 finish to the season.

Anunoby is a known favorite of Raptors president Masai Ujiri. It’s possible that Anunoby might not even be truly available. Instead, the team just naming a price to see if anyone calls the bluff. If that’s the case, the Knicks might pivot to their backup trade. Reportedly, the Knicks are very interested in trying to swing a trade for Sixers center and reigning MVP, Joel Embiid. These rumors have been floating around for a couple of months. However, the main thing is that they haven’t completely gone away. Regardless, it appears that the Knicks could target Anunoby…if the Raptors are willing to be reasonable.

Paul George Trade Appears Unlikely

In the lead-up to the NBA Draft, one of the rumored trades surrounds Clippers veteran Paul George. According to March Stein, the Clippers have been gauging interest in George’s services. The veteran forward has been with the Clippers since 2019 and has a player option year in 2024/25.

“League sources tell The Stein Line that the LA Clippers have left various rival teams with the impression through their Draft Week conversations that they are, at a minimum, attempting to gauge Paul George’s trade value and, to hear some describe it, giving real consideration to the idea of disassembling the Kawhi Leonard/George tandem,” Stein reported.

Furthermore, Stein identified the Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets as potential suitors. Both teams are in search of veteran talent. Furthermore, they have been reportedly willing to part with their high draft picks to acquire George. However, these trades, and other potential moves, appear to be in doubt.

Clippers Not Moved By Current Offers

Reportedly, the Clippers have received several offers for George from around the league. According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, the Blazers had an offer featuring the third-overall pick rejected. Meanwhile, Ian Bagley of SNY reported that the Knicks had made contact with LA about George. However, talks did not progress very far.

Furthermore, the Clippers were briefly involved in a failed trade for the Celtics’ Malcolm Brogdon. However, Brogdon’s injury history nixed the deal. While the Clippers could still make a move, it appears that their gauging of George’s value did not yield the results they were hoping for.

As a result, the Knicks will look to run it back with a team anchored by their tandem of George and Kawhi Leonard. Since George and Leonard joined the team in 2019, the team has had minimal success. After reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2021, the team missed the playoffs in 2022 and were eliminated in the first round in 2023.

Zion Williamson Also Unlikely To Be Traded

Another player who has been linked with a move but will likely stay with his current team is Zion Williamson. The young New Orleans Pelicans star, who is currently in the midst of an infidelity scandal, has been linked with a potential move away from New Orleans.

One potential trade partner was the Charlotte Hornets. This would have sent Williamson to Charlotte in exchange for the second-overall pick in the draft. These rumors were based on the idea that the Pelicans were especially keen on the highly-touted prospect Scoot Henderson.

“Zion getting traded before Thursday’s draft is fairly unlikely [according to] multiple league sources” reported The Athletic. “The Pelicans have yet to even include Williamson in any formal offers made to the teams holding top-3 picks, league sources tell The Athletic. There have been varying reports about how much interest Charlotte or Portland would even have in shipping off the No. 2 or No. 3 picks in a potential Williamson trade.”

Stephen A. Smith Is Disgusted With Julius Randle

Stephen A. Smith has always been a huge fan of the New York Knicks. Overall, the Knicks are one of the most historic teams in the entire NBA. However, they haven’t actually won anything since all the way back in 1973. Of course, the fans are not happy with this reality, and Smith is one of the people on the frontlines, holding the franchise accountable. Luckily, the team has been better in recent years. Although, they still haven’t been able to make it to the Eastern Conference Finals.

Today, Stephen A. and the First Take crew discussed the Knicks and their power forward, Julius Randle. While speaking to Paul George, Randle claimed that the Knicks are not that far from truly competing for a championship. Overall, this rubbed Smith the wrong way. In his mind, this is just a ridiculous thing to say given their performance against the Heat. Additionally, Randle has been a no-show in the playoffs, as his stats always take a hit.

Stephen A. Sounds Off

“Come postseason time, you know, put a taller defender on him, contest his shots, he’s going to dribble too much, he’s gon’ force shots he don’t need to force,” Smith said. “And he’s not going to be nearly as effective during the postseason as he is in the regular season. You know this is coming. You can’t learn to use your right hand? Is it that much for me to ask that you can become a bit ambidextrous, that you can remember that God gave you two hands and two arms? That you don’t actually have to always use your left?”

Ultimately, this was yet another epic rant from the likes of Stephen A. Unfortunately, it came at the expense of some of his sanity. He just wants the Knicks to be good, but it just hasn’t happened. Hopefully, Smith can see them win at least another championship in this next decade. Otherwise, the rants will continue to be plentiful.
