Tory Lanez Reportedly Begs Judge To Not “Ruin His Life” Ahead Of New Trial Ruling

Tomorrow, the world will know whether Tory Lanez will receive a new trial in his case against Megan Thee Stallion, whom Lanez was found guilty of shooting. Moreover, he and his team have vehemently denied these claims and fought back against the verdict. On Monday (May 8), Judge Herriford adjourned a long hearing where both sides made their cases, whether for a new proceeding or sticking by the original ruling. Furthermore, reporter Meghann Cuniff gave some updates via Twitter about what went down towards the hearing’s end.

“Court just let out for the day,” Cuniff wrote. “Judge Herriford is going to issue his ruling tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. Tory Lanez spoke to him before he was led out in handcuffs. ‘Please don’t ruin my life. I could be your son. I could be your brother,” Lanez told the judge, who is Black. There wasn’t a commotion. A sheriff’s deputy was urging Lanez to shut up but it wasn’t a big thing. Herriford didn’t say anything back and Lanez was led out of the courtroom without incident. This followed loooong argument this afternoon. More details soon.”

Tory Lanez Pleaded With Judge To Grant Him New Trial: Report

In addition, the reporter also detailed some of the argument’s that Tory Lanez’s defense team had when arguing for another trial. One thing that stood out to Cuniff was defense attorney Jose Baez stating that the love triangle story between him, Megan, and Kylie Jenner hurt the defense unfairly. Not only that, but he believed that it came up solely because it played into the District Attorney’s narrative that the 30-year-old is a misogynistic rapper. However, he didn’t point out that his defense hinged on Kelsey Harris shooting Meg out of jealousy over their “shared romantic interest.”

Also, Cuniff wrote that another attorney boldly argued that the jurors shouldn’t have heard the name “Tory Lanez” throughout trial, as it’s a creative expression. The judge pointed out that his own lawyer referred to him as such in court proceedings. Another big takeaway according to the reporter is that the claim that Lanez’s DNA is excluded from the gun does not stem from new evidence. Instead, it’s from a new analyst who examined the same DNA evidence prosecutors accessed. For the latest updates on this story, make sure to keep checking in with HNHH.

XXXTENTACION Killer Seeks New Trial, Blasts Judge

One of the three men sentenced to life in prison for the murder of XXXTENTACION is seeking a new trial. According to AllHipHop, Trayvon Newsome claimed that the court committed various mistakes during his trial alongside codefendants Michael Boatwright and Dedrick Williams. Moreover, Newsome suggested that evidence did not support the verdict and conviction and its presumed weight was contrary to law. Also, he maintained that the judge acted erroneously by overruling defense objections and sustaining state objections. In addition, the 24-year-old blasted the discrepancy between denying defense motions and granting state motions.

To elaborate, Newsome believes the court was incorrect in denying his team’s motions for a mistrial. Not only that, but he claimed the court provided unsatisfactory curative directions to lessen the impact of improper prejudicial evidence give to the jury. His defense team added that the court’s decision to deny separating the defendants hurt his chances at a fair trial. This is due to differing strategies and arguments employed by Willams and Boatwright’s counsel. Said decision caused the other codefendants’ shortcomings in their case to negatively impact Newsome’s defense.

XXXTENTACION Murder Convict Calls For New Trial

For example, the former attempted to rope Drake into the trial by suggesting he called out a hit on X. Williams and his defense team cited lyrics from some of the Canadian rapper’s songs like “On BS” and “I’m Upset.” Furthermore, they alleged that beef started between Drizzy and the Florida rapper after the former used the latter’s flow on his 2017 track “KMT.” Despite these arguments, the court still found all three suspects guilty of the crime and sentenced them to life in prison.

“After 5 long years you may finally Rest In Peace,” X’s son’s mother wrote on Instagram after the verdict. “Gekyume will never get to meet you earthside but it is my job as a mother to ensure I share those special memories with him. Jah was robbed of his life and Geky was robbed of his father. For this, I will never truly have complete peace but justice being served today helps the healing process. Thank you for the love and support. I am eternally grateful for all of the supporters, your positivity, and prayers have carried these last 5 years.” Log back into HNHH for the latest news and updates on this case and on XXXTENTACION.

Tory Lanez Retrial Request “Lacks Substance,” Prosecutors Say

The case of Tory Lanez and his shooting of Megan Thee Stallion isn’t over yet, but prosecutors seem determined to uphold the original verdict. Moreover, they expressed that the rapper’s motion for a new trial “lacks substance” according to court law. Los Angeles County prosecutors gave a Response to the Defendant’s Motion for a New Trial, and that motion surfaced on Thursday (April 6). In it, attorneys Kathy Ta and Alexander Bott point to a number of reasons as to why Tory’s request is unfounded. With this development, the court’s response to each side will prove crucial to his accountability

First, prosecutors pointed to the main reason why a defendant may request a new trial: if they can “demonstrate a reversible error or other defect.” Furthermore, the defense team argued for a retrial based on evidence that they didn’t fight back against in court. As such, the prosecution did not identify any significant “error” or “defect” that calls for a retrial. They maintained the defense had the chance to comment on said evidence. Another point they brought up was Lanez’s access to counsel under the Sixth Amendment, which the defense team denied.

Prosecution Blasts Tory Lanez’s Retrial Request

Also, no evidence (including DNA) was determined to be improper in the trial. Not only that, but said evidence wasn’t objected to at trial, making it “proper” in the legal sense. Said conclusions mean that the defense can’t retroactively dismiss the evidence or a faulty proceeding under rule of law. In addition, prosecutors disputed Tory Lanez’s claims that he couldn’t testify and that they violated his rights of due process.

“Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge David J. Herriford is scheduled to consider Lanez’s new trial request Monday (April 10) at 10:30 a.m.,” Law & Crime reporter Meghan Cuniff tweeted. “Lanez was to be sentenced that day if Herriford rejects the motion. But the sentencing is now expected to be delayed to late April or early May.” Tory Lanez faces up to 22 years in prison and deportation to Canada ahead of sentencing. Report: Tasha K Demands A New Trial In Cardi B’s Defamation Lawsuit

Cardi B is supposed to be receiving a large payment from Tasha K. In October, a judge ordered the blogger to fork out a payment of $3.8 million to the “Hot Sh*t” rapper. This came as a result of Cardi’s defamation lawsuit that she filed against the YouTuber.

A few years ago, Tasha made comments about the 30-year-old’s sexual health on her YouTube show, Unwine With Tasha K. Her statements include stating that the Washington Heights native had an STD, previously used hard drugs and worked as an escort.

When the mother of two decided to take her to court for defamation, she also denied these allegations. She claims that the alleged lies are responsible for causing her emotional struggles.

However, new reports indicate that Tasha K is now seeking a new trial. She cites the judge allegedly banning talk surrounding Cardi’s past gang ties as the reason for the new demand.

According to RadarOnline, the blogger says the judge should have allowed evidence of the “WAP” rapper’s reported gang ties to be a part of the trial. Tasha and her legal team argue that, in doing so, the judge is allowing the exclusion of character evidence into the trial. As a result, she says the trial was improper.

In other recent news surrounding Cardi B, she recently spoke out to defend some lyrics from her verse on GloRilla‘s “Tomorrow 2.” In the final two bars of her red-hot verse, she raps, “All y’all b*tches sweet and I always get my lick, boo / I fight for my bitches and I’m fightin’ over d*ck too.”

“Y’all talkin bout y’all won’t fight over dick but y’all be fighting over celebs online all the time ….somebody lying,” she claps back at her haters in a tweet.

What are your thoughts on the situation? Do you think Tasha K should be granted a new trial? Sound off in the comments below. Finally, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for any updates.
