Ray Vaughn Leaves Off Two Singles In Three Days With “Supposed To Die / Black Jesus”

Ray Vaughn, thenewer member of the TDE family, is continuing to build his profile with “Supposed To Die” and “Black Jesus”. These are the newest releases from the Long Beach, California native and they are out just three days apart from each other. Like for the rest of his label, 2024 has been a big year for him. After a majority its artists when silent for a few years, it seems everyone is dropping to remind everyone how talented their roster is. Ray Vaughn will be joining his affiliates at some point with an album. But in the meantime, he has been leaving off plenty of singles to keep fans happy.

The 30-year-old has dropped a pair of freestyles, “So Into You” and “5:30”, the lyrically dense “Problems” with Pusha T, and the trap centric “Blasphemy”. Now, in between July 26-29, Ray Vaughn is here with “Supposed To Die” and “Black Jesus”. Both see him in a self-reflective and introspective state. The former talks about the fragility of life and how there are a lot of people out to get him. Then, on “Black Jesus”, Vaughn deals with feelings of loneliness, sadness, and hopelessness due to his own past decisions. Both are extremely personal, and certainly show another side to the continuously evolving star.

“Supposed To Die / Black Jesus”- Ray Vaughn

Quotable Lyrics From “Supposed To Die”:

Look, killers they got different eyes, villains are uncivilized
B****, we come from hand-me-downs, we don’t know our fit and size
Only thing we fear is life, I’m just tryna feel alive
I eat all my n**** pie, all my T-shirts n****-sized

Skilla Baby Includes Four Extra Cuts On The Deluxe Version Of “The Coldest”

Skilla Baby has been making a lot of noise out of the Detroit rap scene this year. He has really come into his own as of late and it’s given him a much bigger audience. It seems every mainstream MC’s newest tape or single has him on it. He has featured for Latto, Yung Miami, Coi Leray, Rob49, and many more. As a result of these new connections, a lot of them made it onto Skilla’s The Coldest and its brand-new deluxe. The original version of this tape hit streaming platforms with 16 songs on April 26 to some pretty mediocre reviews.

Users on Album Of The Year gave it an overall rating of 54, citing that Skilla Baby has the potential to make some great tracks. However, they felt there were just far too many lackadaisical efforts to rate it any higher. Overall, we share those same sentiments, but the 25-year-old is back to give his die-hards some bonus material. On The Coldest (Deluxe), Skilla Baby has four unheard recordings which feature the likes of Rob49 (again), DaBaby (again), Baby Money, and fellow rising star, BossMan Dlow. Give these new additions a try with the links down below.

Drake Has Fans Feeling Like He’s Officially Back Thanks To Two Summer-Ready Gordo Features

Drake has had a rough few months thanks to his beef against Kendrick Lamar. Overall, it is the consensus position that he ended up losing the feud. However, he has been able to showcase that he still has that hitmaking ability. After all, “Family Matters” was a pretty valiant effort. That said, fans have wanted to see if Drizzy could come through with some summer slaps. Well, thanks to the new Gordo album Diamante, it would appear as though Drake still has the magic touch.

This new album contains two Drake features including “Healing” and “Sideways.” Both songs take on the house aesthetics that Drizzy gave us on the album Honestly, Nevermind. Overall, this makes for the Summer vibes that fans have been waiting for. In fact, it would appear as though these two new songs are garnering universal praise on social media. While the Drake fans were always going to like these songs, even the detractors have to give credit where it is due.

Action Bronson Continues His Wonderfully Absurd & Whimsical Ways On “JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACHLAVA THE DOCTOR”

Action Bronson never shies from being himself. It is one of the many redeeming qualities of the unapologetically blunt rapper who hails from Queens, New York. Overall, it is probably what he is most synonymous with, and we are happy that he stays true. To be honest, hip-hop can use more light-hearted and unique lyricists like him. The 2013 XXL Freshman is bringing out his usual self on another tight project for 2024 and it comes after a handful of singles. Action Bronson’s JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACHLAVA THE DOCTOR is led by “NOURISH A THUG” and “SEGA”, both of which were released just two months before it.

Bronson is working alongside familiar faces for this project, both on the production and feature front. The former sees him recruit Daringer and The Alchemist once again, and the MC also chips into the creation of the beats. As for the accompanying performers, mainstays Julian Love and Yung Mehico (instrumentalists) are here, as well as Meyhem Lauren and Larry June. As we stated, Bronson is still wonderfully wild and colorful bars. For example, take a look at these from the jazzy and grand “HIDEO NOMO”. “Finish quick, she spit my seeds on the floor, a tree grew (Uh) / Then she continued seasoning the sea food / I got more karate movеs than Steven Seagal (That’s a lot)“.

Like Bronson’s past release, Cocodrillo Turbo, JOHANN SEBASTIAN BACHLAVA THE DOCTOR, sees as him the titular doctor. He presents himself as this on several tracks, with one being “SEGA”. It is unclear what this all means for the album, but what we can tell you is that there are some great tracks to be had. That is thanks in part to the funky and catchy instrumentals (“SALVAJE” “KOMPRESSOR”). Give Bronson’s new outing a try with the links below.

CupcakKe Returns After Six Years With “Dauntless Manifesto”

Chicago, Illinois rapper cupcakKe is by far and away not your average rapper and Dauntless Manifesto proves that still. Sure, she talks about some stereotypical topics in her music, but the delivery is truly one of a kind. She blew up in the mid 2010s with songs like “Cpr” and “Deepthroat”. Both were so absurd that they went viral online and gave her a semblance of an audience. Presumably, a lot of listeners were not able to take her seriously enough to really stick around. It seems that she was before her time, as now ratchet hip-hop is all the craze right now. Artists like Sexyy Red, Sukihana, and Ice Spice, are just some examples of this. While these three might cite Nicki Minaj as the reason why they became rappers, cupcakKe started this unapologetic wave years ago.

Her lyrics might not seem like a lot on the surface, but she is a true pioneer whether people want to admit it or not. It is why the return of cupcakKe on Dauntless Manifesto is so exciting. After six, long years with no album, her unhinged bars are still bountiful on this fifth studio LP, but the topics are not the typical fare. A day before Dauntless Manifesto arrived, cupcakKe revealed on X what she was bringing to light. “This album speaks on Police Brutality, Body positivity, Racism, Poverty, Suic*de , Self Love, ETC.” What is also so cool about this, is that the instrumentals are always different. “Hip hop , pop, hyper pop, Afro pop, rock” all land here and we cannot be more excited about this tape.

Kota The Friend & PRICE Link Up For Concise Seven-Track EP “SANCTIONED VOL. 1”

Kota the Friend is a rapper you go to for relax vibes and solid rhymes, and that is what he is providing on SANCTIONED VOL. 1. For the New York rapper, this is project number two for 2024, superseding his January tape, Lyrics to GO Vol. 5. That is the latest entry in that halo series for the “Colorado” lyricist and it was yet another business-as-usual kind of project. There are not many more rock steady spitters that Kota and it just feels like he never really flops on any occasion. On this seven-song EP, he is joined by a California artist by the name of PRICE (Price). He also goes by Pricetag and he is one half of the Audio Push tandem and works alongside Oktane.

Sadly, though, it appears that Oktane and PRICE are not too eager to release music together. The last time the hip-hop community heard anything from them was 2020 for a single called “Time To Listen”. You have to go back another year for when they dropped an album. That would be 2019’s Audio Mars. Conversely, PRICE is still active. He began releasing solo material right around the time Audio Push stopped. In fact, he also came through with a project in January too, putting out C.I.T.Y. and it’s deluxe. Maybe PRICE has a new permanent partner in rhyme with Kota the Friend, because SANCTIONED VOL. 1 sees them piece together poised performances.

Amaarae Thrives In Yet Another Genre With “Roses Are Red, Tears Are Blue — A Fountain Baby Extended Play”

Amaarae, the Ghanian-American singer with the voice of a siren, is back. The 30-year-old songstress is revisiting her critically-acclaimed sophomore album Fountain Baby and tacking on several new songs to it. This now makes it a double-disc LP, and it comes just over a year after the original. The Bronx native is now referring to it as roses are red, tears are blue — A Fountain Baby Extended Play. Overall, these seven tracks see Amaarae lean into the culturally rich Afrobeats genre even more so.

There are hints of her working with this palette on the original 14-track set. Songs like the irresistible “Angels in Tibet” and “Co-Star” are just a small sample size. However, they are explosive pop bangers, and the roses are red version just provides more of those kinds of tracks. Conversely, the vibe on this new disc is more lowkey but similarly alluring. Amaarae is proving to be one of those artists that needs to be on your radar if she is not already on it. Her boundaryless approach to making music makes her such a threat to all of the mainstream powerhouses and that sexy, high-pitched voice is also instantly recognizable. Watch out for Amaarae and check out roses are red, tears are blue below.

Ken Carson Lets “A Great Chaos” Rage On With Seven New Deluxe Cuts

It took just a couple of weeks after the release of A Great Chaos for Ken Carson to start thinking about dropping a deluxe. According to Genius, the Atlanta, Georgia rage rapper teased this possibility at various points from Halloween and through June 8. He mostly did so via Twitter (now X), but also through an IG page dedicated to the album called agreatchaos. From teasing tracks to previewing some deluxe-specific merchandise, Carson was adamant to get this done. Well, today is that day as he had added on seven tracks, with “overseas” being the only single from the bunch.

The fresh titles include “loading”, “more chaos”, “toxic”, “leather jacket”, “mewtwo”, and “ss”. None of them mess up the sequencing, as they are placed after track 18, “i need u”. However, if you are an Apple Music listener, there are actually 28 songs. However, the three extra add-ons are music videos for “Succubus”, “Fighting My Demons”, and “Jennifer’s Body”. All of these additions are out at just the right time for Ken Carson. He will be heading out on a lengthy Chaos World Tour starting on July 8. Orlando, Florida will get the first taste of him live, and Prague will be the last ones to experience the chaos on October 5.

DC The Don Channels The Sounds Of Travis Scott & Rage On “2012” EP

Milwaukee, Wisconsin underground multi-talent DC The Don is getting fans ready for a new album with this brand-new, three-track EP, 2012. The auto crooning rapper has been making waves for a couple of years now due to his atmospheric aura. He blends emo, R&B, rage, and psychedelic trap together, as he usually emanates the styles of your favorite superstars. Whether it be Juice WRLD, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, or Lil Uzi Vert, he has covered all their respective sounds numerous times. This time with 2012, DC The Don is replicating La Flame and Yeat mostly. Even though you can check out this aesthetic from other artists, he does still come across as engaging and full of energy. The track we are currently enjoying the most so far from this tape is the closer “IDK IT DEPENDS”.

The instrumental creates an incredible atmosphere, and it may be the highlight of the song. It is warped, aggressive, and feels grand in scale. DC’s animated adlibs that are reminiscent of earlier Travis are also a nice extra layer. If the mission of this track was to be a banger, then it passes with flying colors. Fans also seem to agree that this is the best of the trio, as it already has over 146,000 streams since its release this weekend. However, the tandem of “MR.” produced by Supah Mario (Young Thug, Drake, Lil Uzi Vert) and “FULLY LOADED” are more than serviceable. As we mentioned, 2012 is just a pre-cursor for DC’s fourth album which will be called REBIRTH. It does not have a release date yet, but we think it will drop in the next couple of months.

Lil Gotit Releases His First Album Independently With “Shut The Door, Nobody Listening”

Lil Gotit is showing his love to Young Thug and his affiliates on his new album, Shut The Door, Nobody Listening. This is actually the Atlanta, Georgia native’s sixth studio project and a follow-up to the 2022 LP, The Cheater. The latter would go on to be Lil Gotit’s last release with Alamo Records, making Shut The Door an independent offering. Furthermore, it is his first-ever time doing such a thing, so this will almost assuredly hold a special place in the rapper’s heart. The six-year veteran actually began the rollout for this body of work back in late September 2022.

“360 Boy” the devilish opener to this 17-song tracklist, is now longer than the original from almost two years ago. It includes a skit that starts the track off, instead of just the instrumental building up to the chorus. Fans would hear more from Shut The Door in March of last year with “DRIPPIN in Spider”. Finally, in November 2023, Lil Gotit would release “BOW”, the closer, and then “Twisting Our Fingers” in early June of 2024. As we mentioned at the beginning, the “She Know It” rapper is working with YSL members/relatives this time through. Only Young Thug, his late brother Lil Keed, and Thugger’s girlfriend and R&B star Mariah the Scientist make appearances. Be sure to give Gotit’s Shut The Door a spin with the links down below.
