Chxrry22 Pens A Catchy Breakup Anthem For The Ladies With “Poppin Out (Mistakes)”

Chxrry22 is somebody you’re going to want to keep in your peripheral because she is “Poppin Out” in a big way. That happens to be the title of her newest single, or you can refer to it as “(Mistakes)”. The 27-year-old R&B singer is a XO Records signee and if you weren’t aware, that is The Weeknd’s label. He has been championing her work since 2022 when she put out her first EP/project, The Other Side. On that offering, Chxrry22 was looking to convey a “duality” that we all share. “The Other Side is about coming to terms with duality – we all have two sides. We can be both the villain and the victim in some story, and this is me owning that”.

However, in the case of “Poppin Out (Mistakes)”, Chxrry22 is certainly being portrayed as the victim. On this record, she’s going through a breakup. However, she gives herself a pep talk on the pre-chorus. “Cryin’ over n****s ain’t allowed / Being a heart broke b**** is outta style“. She then comes up with the perfect idea, and that’s to have a reckless night out. “You know my city ain’t seen me in a while / Ain’t hate me then, you gon’ really hate me now“. The melodies and chorus are true winners and the catch you attention right away. It’s already becoming a trend on social media, and it feels like Chxrry22 is going to be in the ears of a lot more people moving forward. Check out “Poppin Out (Mistakes)” with the audio link below.

Yhapojj & Nino Paid Are Ready To Tear It Up On “Moshpit”

Yhapojj, the Huntsville, Alabama teenager, put out his first commercial album on May 10, P.S. F*** You. At the time, it was just the second occasion that we posted a reaction/news post about the underground rapper. However, after all of the positive reviews on the project from fans, we knew we couldn’t slow down our coverage of Yhapojj. He seems to have this special cult following bubbling up, which is exciting to see, especially for talent still on the rise. Recently, Yhapojj put out a new single called “Moshpit”, which features another newcomer in Nino Paid.

He’s also been gaining some momentum himself in quick fashion. He’s already up to over 180,000 monthly listeners on Spotify, and he’s only been releasing music professionally since 2023. In terms of what city/state he’s repping, Nino hails from Landover, Maryland. This is the first time that him and Yhapojj have collaborated, and it feels like it won’t be the last either. “Moshpit” sounds exactly like what the title of the record is. However, it takes slight detour thanks to its videogame-like beat. However, that decision makes sense once you see the music video’s opening scene, which is someone logging into a PlayStation console. The lyrics are very blunt and aggressive in typical rage fashion. Give Yhapojj and Nino Paid’s single “Moshpit” a try with the link below.

JELEEL! Completes His “FI DI GYAL DEM” Three-Pack With Bouncy New Single “OXTAIL!”: Stream

JELEEL! has now completed his Afrobeat/dancehall-inspired singles trilogy, releasing the FI DI GYAL DEM EP on Friday (August 23). Moreover, his new track on this project, “OXTAIL!”, continues the catchy, bouncy, and bass-heavy precedent set by the other two tracks, “FIYA FIYA!” and “HIGH GRADE!” Cuts like “SEE ME NOW!” already hinted toward this direction, a sharp contrast from the rage inspiration on previous 2024 singles like “I LOOK GOOD!

Furthermore, the Nigerian-American artist mixes these styles quite well on “OXTAIL!”, pairing Afrobeat bounces and vocal melodies with buzzy bass and an overall thick atmosphere. JELEEL! is as charismatic as ever on the vocal front, and while his lyrics are nothing to write home about, he picks some sticky phrases and references to highlight the song’s melodies. Nevertheless, seeing this sonic direction evolve from previous records like “WAHALA!” has been a compelling shift to witness.

We hope JELEEL! has more songs on the way in the near future, and not more scary daredevil accidents like what happened to him at the Nitro Circus this year. After all, his live shows are captivating and exciting enough without a ramp and a tricycle. If you haven’t heard “OXTAIL!” yet, find it on your preferred streaming service or check out the music video on YouTube below. Down there, you can also peep some notable lyrics from the cut and the comments section for you to share your thoughts on the new single. As always, stick around on HNHH for more genre-bending and exhilarating music releases around the clock.

Russ Doesn’t Want To Lose His Girl On “If This Is It”

Russ is keeping his pen sharp by returning with “If This Is It”. With how often he drops, it’s hard to find some new angle to talk about with this guy. However, what we can say is that he’s extremely dedicated to delivering time and time again for his fans. It’s proven through his weekly weekend releases like this one right here. This time around Russ is essentially detailing a tug-of-war type of relationship on “if This Is It”. “If this is it let me know / I don’t wanna see you go”, he begins on the chorus. Do you want me, baby, yes or no? / What’s the plan? What’s the play? / ‘Cause I can’t walk away“. Then, in his verses, he continues the painful and panicked tone and storyline.

Let me find out, she’s in Waikiki / Let me chill / She wouldn’t play me“. Later, Russ admits takes some responsibility for the situation they are now in. “You know I f***ing love you / I just don’t know what happening / I know we both struggle opening up“. This track is one of the reasons why he’s been able to succeed for such a long time. The number of tones he can go to is endless, and these relatable storytelling tracks is just one of the ones he has at his disposal. Give “If This Is It” by Russ a try with the YouTube link below.

Babyface Ray & BossMan Dlow Are Stacking It Up On Their Single “Count Money”

Babyface Ray and BossMan Dlow are proving that they are an entertaining duo on their first collaboration, “Count Money”. Both rappers skate over a woozy, minimal, and skittering beat. Overall, this is a beat that they are well accustomed to, so they are able to make light work of it. It’s a pretty braggadocious cut, if the title didn’t already give it away already. Ray and Dlow pen some sticky and clever bars as well, adding to the enjoyability factor. “The coupe sits so low to the Earth, now watch it crawl away / … I just went two days, I’m good with the drink, now I got stomach pains“.

Obviously, they aren’t laying down some super dense bars, but they just work well with what’s going on. “Count Money” is the latest single from Babyface Ray and one that will land on an upcoming project. It’s going to be called The Kid That Did and it will be out on September 13. So far, Ray has released five in total, with the other ones being “Money On My Mind”, “Ghetto Boyz” with Peezy, as well as “Shy Kid” and “Rubberband Man”. While you wait on the album to drop, check out “Count Money” with the link below.

Trippie Redd, LAZER DIM 700, & VonOff1700 Collab For Cutthroat Single “Murderman”

In the mid to late 2010s, Canton, Ohio native Trippie Redd was a fresh voice for hip-hop. His blends of emo, heavy metal, pop rap, and trap brought some of the biggest songs of the decade. “Dark Knight Dummo”, “Talking A Walk”, “1400/ 999 Freestyle”, “Topanga”, and “Love Scars”, are just a few. Additionally, he’s done some decent work in the 2020s, especially at the start. However, the same cannot be said today and arguably over the last couple of years. For some reason, he cannot seem to recapture what made him so special at his peak. Unfortunately, the struggle for Trippie Redd continues this week too with “Murderman”.

At some point, he’s going to be dropping LIFE’S A TRIP 2, the sequel to his well-received debut album of the same name. If more songs like “Murderman” are what we are going to be receiving, then this LP is doomed. Honestly, though, it’s already trending in that direction. “LWRW” and “LGLG” are debatably some of the most repetitive and boring singles of 2024. “Bando Kid” is definitely the most respectable and closest return to form in our eyes, however. For “Murderman”, though, Trippie is working with LAZER DIM 700 and VonOff1700, two more underground names who bring an extremely murderous tone.

However, that’s about all that they do here. At times, they try to sound like Playboi Carti’s deep voice, including Trippie. If you haven’t heard a VonOff feature or single, you are certainly in for an experience. We don’t want to say any more, so check it out for yourself and see if you agree with our take.

OMB Peezy Begins Roll Out For Upcoming Mixtape With “Hallways To Highways Produced By Will-A-Fool

OMB Peezy is gearing up for the release of his upcoming mixtape by presenting its lead single, “Hallways To Highways”. The 27-year-old rapper and singer from Mobile, Alabama will be dropping STILL TOO DEEP sometime in September, according to a press release. Sadly, the exact date is unknown at the time of writing. But with August winding down (already), we should have that piece to the puzzle in the next couple of weeks, hopefully. This project will follow-up on two LPs from 2023, including Le’Paris and Top Kill. The latter of them was a collaborative offering between Peezy and Lil Joc. For “Hallways To Highways”, OMB Peezy is recruiting a platinum artist to tag team this melodic track.

That guest is producer Will-A-Fool. He has worked with plenty of big-ticket rappers throughout his time in the industry, so he’s bringing a lot of experience to the table. Those previous collaborators include Future, Lil Durk, K CAMP, Kevin Gates, YFN Lucci, Rod Wave, and more. His biggest hit he’s probably every assisted was K CAMP’s “Cut Her Off”. Besides Will-A-Fool being able to make beats for these artists, it should be noted that the mixture here is more important. Peezy, like Rod and Lucci, love to sing just as much they like to rap. So, Peezy grabbing Will for this more easy-going, yet personal record makes a lot of sense. Specifically, Peezy talks about his past, friends and family, but he expresses that he doesn’t want to forget them while he’s on the “highways” to fame. You can stream the song with the music video link below to hear what this duo is bringing to the table.

Blu & Aloe Blacc Deliver Impassioned Performances On Exile-Assisted “Love Is Blu”

After just a handful days being out, Blu and Exile’s new single “Love Is Blu” is quickly gaining a lot of traction with listeners. It’s easy to see why because this longtime underground duo is still drawing in ears given their great track record. Both constantly and consistently deliver sound conscious and lyrical hip-hop tracks and projects, including their magnum opus in 2007, Below the Heavens. However, it’s been quite a bit since they’ve collaborated, with 2020’s Miles. However, they will be ending that drought in just about a month with their fourth album, Love (the) Ominous World.

According to Genius, it should be available on September 20 and it will feature 12 songs. Features will include Georgia Anne Muldrow, Fashawn, Cashus King, Pistol McFly, and more. Aloe Blacc is another one of those names to mention and he’s also on this “Love Is Blu” single. It’s the official lead-off track for what will be Blu’s fifth record this year which is simply impressive. Exile lays down a head-nodding instrumental with inspirational horns and thick drums. Blu and Aloe harmonize well on the chorus and the former’s verses are socially conscious and cleverly written. It’s very honest about the current social state of the world and why more love needs to be spread every day.
